My wife previously worked at Starbucks, so I understand drive-thru times are tracked, and it immediately came across as though the priority was manipulating the drive-thru time rather than providing good customer service. I ordered a simple grande chai tea latte with soy. When I got to the window, I apologized and asked if I could add a blueberry muffin. The employee immediately told his staff, "Make it room temp," without even asking if I wanted it warmed. When I asked if it could be warmed, he responded, "We don't typically take food orders at the window." I understand that adding something at the window may be inconvenient, and I apologized for doing so. But it was one muffin. Between the comments about driving slowly, the refusal to simply warm the muffin without making it an issue, and then being prompted for a tip, the entire interaction felt focused on getting me through the drive-thru as quickly as possible rather than providing a good experience. I've been to plenty of Starbucks locations and have never been told that ordering a food item at the window was a problem. I left genuinely disappointed. Next time I'm in Frisco and want Starbucks, I'll just go to the Safeway location across the street instead.

The fact that they can maintain total excellence across two different continents is unreal. The two spots are completely equal, and the Colorado taproom continues to prove why they are world-class. The beers were spectacular as always. We started out with a couple of pints of their New England-style juice. In the Steep is a masterclass in the style with a beautiful, pillowy mouthfeel and heavy tropical notes. Sun in the Clouds was just as impressive. It delivers those bright citrus flavors without the aggressive hop bitterness. I even noticed Cross Flow on the tap list, which is a fresh, hazy collaboration they just put out with Casey Brewing. Before packing back into the truck, we made sure to grab a new metal tacker to hang up in the garage. We also snagged a four-pack of Lil John Wayne. The can art is easily the funniest label on the shelf, but the actual beer is a solid ten out of ten. To fuel the final stretch of the drive home, we ordered from Bird Craft right inside the brewery. They do not cut corners here. They are frying up full wings, including the drummies and the flippers, and they will toss them in any of their house sauces for an incredible snack. The skin stays remarkably crispy even under a thick coat of sauce, and the meat stays perfectly juicy. It is exactly the kind of savory comfort food you need after a long road trip. Of the couple of brunch spots I tried in town, this was my favorite. I ordered the Cornucopia with eggs over medium and substituted the home fries for fruit. The fruit was surprisingly good, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas with a light sprinkle of powdered sugar. A side of fruit can be pretty hit or miss when you substitute it at brunch, so I was pleasantly surprised. The eggs were cooked right, and the toast was fine. I opted for turkey bacon, though, and I'd recommend skipping it. It was pretty crispy and lacked much flavor. The standout was the cinnamon roll French toast. We ordered it to share with the table, and I highly recommend doing the same. It comes with two large cinnamon rolls that are soaked in egg batter and grilled French-toast style. It was top tier. I noticed several tables around us sharing the regular cinnamon roll as well, and those looked fantastic too. They also have a bakery counter inside with plenty of grab-and-go options. The pastries all looked great, along with fresh bread, cookies, and other sweet treats. If you're visiting Frisco and looking for brunch, Butterhorn is definitely worth a stop.
