My wife and I continue to come to this place and never leave unhappy. Talk about authentic Chinese food! Every dish from Orange chicken and beef to Kung pao shrimp and their amazing walnut shrimp. Garlic sauce beef is phenomenal also. Shumi appetizer is my wife's favorite. If you've read this far all that is left to say is stop by and try it for yourself. I've already said how I dislike the 1-star review, but I was pretty close at ABC Chinese in Gridley. The lunch menu is typical, w the usual strip-mall Chinese entrees, attended by soup and a choice of chow mein, steamed or fried rice. Beverage extra. I had Sweet and Sour Pork for $6.95 (steamed rice). Sadly, this review is already longer than this meal deserves. How does SSP come out bland and soft? The rice had been much too long in the cooker, but at least the bell peppers and onions were crisp and had good flavor. And (at the risk of incurring the Wrath of Groucho) the portion was on the small side. Service was pleasant and prompt, but I was happy to get out and, since there's a supermarket next door I won't be back--I'd rather make my own sandwich. read more

ABC has been my family's go-to Chinese place for years. We pretty much order half of the menu every time we get take out. Some of our favorite items include general chicken, house fried rice, pork chow mein, pork fu yung, and beef and broccoli but the list could go on. My mom loves the hot and sour soup, and the won ton soup is great too. The staff is very friendly, our order is always fresh and ready on time. I always get the chicken chow mein. I like it a lot. I only wish that they would have a Single person's plate so you could get three different orders of food on one plate. Instead of having to spend $30 on three big plates for three or four people. So I only order the chicken chow mein which is more than enough. I almost did not come to this place due to the low rating, but then I was really glad that I tried this place. We ordered the family dinner for 4 people and the pot stickers plus 4 root beers. Food was amazingly good and we had to take home 2 boxes. Service was more than average and the ambient was really nice. Reasonably price! Definitely will come back when we're in town! read more

Best Chinese food in the area for sure, including Yuba City! The prices are great, the portions are huge. It's meant for family style dining, you order one type of dish and get a big helping of it. I am disgusted. First of all my husband ordered CHICKEN fried rice, CHICKEN chow mein, sweet and sour pork and 3 egg rolls. It was take out. We brought the bag home and opened up the boxes to find SHRIMP fried rice, SHRIMP chow mein, sweet and sour pork and the egg rolls. He spoke up loud enough for them to hear it properly and there was no other noises for distractions. Next, the sweet and sour pork was awful. It tasted like either overcooked or burnt meat of some sort, could not tell if it was actually pork cause the meat inside the batter was very small and so hard you couldn't even get you fork in it. The sweet and sour sauce was lacking flavor. The only parts to that dish that were ok were the onion pieces that were in the sauce. We had this food last night after the Gridley Fair and this morning I am still have belching gas that has a gross after taste. If they are comparing themselves to Tong Fong Low's here in Oroville they are gravely mistaken. I will not eat there again. It cost $33.00 for this food. read more

My daughther and I went on 10-4-18 because I was craving their shrimp chow mein. I have been there a couple times before because I don't live close by but my daughter and her husband do dine there often, the food is great, I can't deny and we'd never encountered a bad experience til this past Thursday unfortuntely. Usually we ask for our drinks and straws first, then we order appetizers and our food. Honestly I wish we could rewind that day because we were really hungry and just wanted to enjoy a good meal inside. This waitress we didn't recognize was already looking annoyed and in a rush. Little did we know she wanted to take her break. But the other waitress was no better anyway. I said to my daughter "maybe they're new so let's give them a fair chance".. Mind you, we had already waited about 10 mins since we sat and still couldn't bring our drinks. No, it was not busy inside, maybe to-go orders I'm not sure, but believe me I am very patient and understanding. So, they bring our appetizers of eggrolls and cheese wontons, we work on that while they bring our entreés. Almost a half an hour into that, people come sit, they promptly bring their drink and shortly after they order their food comes out. We are still waiting and been done with the apptzs, run out of water, one waitress gone and still no one checks on us so I flag the other to come. I see the asian lady bringing out entreés to recently sat customers and all the time we're thinking "oh, that must be ours, lol" .. WRONG! I had to call the girl and ask where our food was. She simply says "oh, we were waiting for you guys to finish with your apptzs so I can ask the chef to start on your entreés" .. That's it! I coolly asked "so they haven't even started yet?" And she tells me they'll rush it. I get up and ask the asian lady directly why we were being treated like kids and so poorly like HELLO? Wether we finish our appetizers or not is none of their goddamn business and she looks at my daughter trying to put her on blast telling her that she's been there often so she should know the "drill" ! My daughter already dissapointed responded that they had NEVER done that to her and her husband and when they bring out their apptzs shortly after they bring out their entreés too. She also questions why they make it their business to wait til "we are done with appetizers first in order for them to start making our food. We had already placed the order WITH the apptzs, HELLO? We have never heard or experienced such weird service. We cancelled everything and I was willing to just pay for the apptzs we ate but since the asian lady offered, I'll give her that much, she removed them from the check and apologized. But the hussy waiter didn't as much cared at all. I felt so embarrased the other customers even knew we had a reason to be bothered and they supported our decision. I knew I wasn't exaggerating. 40 damn minutes waiting is UNACCEPTABLE! read more

One of only two chinese restaurants in gridley. I stopped in for lunch during a work day and found service to be excellent my waitress was on top of things and very polite. Kitchen and dining area were very clean. I was able to order my meal for just over $10 including my drink not bad but not great either you can find better food bigger portions or even a buffet for similar money. I ordered a combination with a classic general tso which was rather bland as was the fried rice the house soup for the day was flavorful though and the shrimp as others have mentioned are surprisingly small I'll be checking out king wah next read more

I've loved Chinese food since I was little girl. Eaten at lots of different places. Grew up in the bay area where they had the best Chinese ever. Moving to this area was hard finding a good Chinese place. I like Abc's chow mein because they don't put bean sprouts in it. And most places do. I also love their hot and sour soup. Haven't been able to find anyother Chinese restaraunt that has good hot and sour soup so this place tops the list. read more

Were do I begin? I was excited to try a new place and got pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, and general's chicken. Everything tasted too sweet and slightly strange, nothing like any of the items I've had in the past and I found myself unable to eat it. The generals chicken was over breaded, over fried, and had practically no general's sauce on it. The pork fried rice wasn't fried, it was just white rice with chewy pork and veggies stirred in. And the Mongolian beef tasted like honey. On top of everything being nasty, it made me and my boyfriend very sick. I tried twice to call the evening of the occurrence and no answer. Called twice today and finally someone answered when my boyfriend called. They owner refused to refund the disaster of a meal until I called and she said she'd refund it. I go to claim my money and she was so amazingly rude. She told me she could call the cops on my boyfriend due to the way he talked to her but I heard the conversation and telling a restaurant owner that their food was sub par and sickening is not a crime. We never even cursed or raised our voices with her. I don't recommend this place to anyone. *I'm only giving them a star because I have to give them at least one in order to make this post. read more

I feel like I must write a new review now that it's under new management. The food actually tastes a lot better, even though I suspect it's the same recipes. There's a new cook, so I expect he does some stuff different and I like it. My main concern with this restaurant isn't the food, it's the decor. God, it's awful in there! They put in a couple flatscreen tv's (one plays CNN, one plays ESPN), and plastered the walls with posters of sports players. It's stupid!! Forget the fact that the walls are horrible shade of orange, this place is supposed to be a Chinese restaurant, but it's plastered with non-Aisan sports players. It makes absolutely no sense, and it's incredibly degrading to the greatness that is the food. My tip to the new owners (and I hope they're reading): keep the tv's, change both to different news channels. Keep the one sports player poster that is Chinese (tucked away in the back) and put it towards the front. Fill up the store with Chinese decorations (if you want sports, get historic Chinese players) and maybe change the table cloths on the tables to match the wall. read more
