My sons have been attending this practice from the beginning. The staff is amazing and very accommodating. Many complain about the wait time, but most of that is not the fault of the practice. Previous appointments may run longer than expected (it's a kids' practice) and previous clients may not arrive on time, which can back up the entire day. We make it a point to go first thing in the morning. The most important thing for us was the comfort of our children. They love Dr. J, so much so that my oldest wants to visit her every time he has a loose tooth so she can remove it, rather than let me pull it. My youngest has special needs and she and her staff are excellent with him and do a great job minimizing his anxiety. I'm thankful for her, her staff and her practice!! DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE! This is hands down the most incompetent, unprofessional, and deceptive dental practice in existence. Back in February or March, they claimed my son needed tooth extraction surgery. I paid the $500 deposit they demanded and was promised a call from the "surgery coordinator" to get on the schedule. She NEVER CALLED. NOT ONCE. For MONTHS, I called constantly, only to get hit with the same pathetic, copy-paste excuse: "Oh, she just stepped away." She dodged every single voicemail I left. When I finally got her onto the phone, she tried to claim my son needed another "doctor approval" before scheduling--a complete lie from someone who clearly has zero clue how to do her job. Then came the absolute kicker: I dragged my son to this pointless appointment, only for the doctor to say, "I heard you wanted to speak with me." NO! I NEVER asked for this useless appointment! The clueless coordinator forced us in for literally NO REASON when all I wanted was to schedule my son's surgery! To top off this absolute nightmare, LESS THAN 15 DAYS before the procedure, they call to tell me our insurance doesn't even cover it! MONTHS of taking my money, dodging my calls, wasting my time, and dragging my kid around, and ONLY NOW do they check the insurance?! THIS OFFICE IS A TOTAL CIRCUS. I have had great experiences during every appointment! The hygienists and dentists are patient and good with my kids. I have always been called within 5-10 minutes of my appointment start time, first thing in the morning as well as mid-afternoon. I had two kids and was in and out in less than 40 minutes. There was no long wait time to see the dentist. My only small complaint is that sometimes you have to call a couple times to get someone on the phone but with the ability to make online appointments, I don't really mind. The receptionists are always welcoming, helpful and polite. The paperwork is also filled out online as well. My kids didn't even want to leave because of the touch screen games in the waiting area. The practice is modern and clean with televisions by the dental chairs and in the lobby. Parking was easy and it is right across from Tanger Outlets where there is a playground. My kids look forward to going to the dentist now! I see negative reviews but I think they have revamped the practice to address past concerns. It is now very well managed. read more

I am frustrated with this office due to the lack of follow-up and communication. My 2 year old son was diagnosed with FOUR cavities, and I was told he will need them fixed under anesthesia in a hospital operating room. There were no openings for several months, so I would get a call back. When I didn't hear in 2 months, I called, and yet again told I would get a call back. When I didn't hear from them again, I looked elsewhere. Interestingly, 2 different offices both told me there are no cavities. Not only poor communication, but a misdiagnoses from ABC... They also send bills super late, as far as a year later with no dates, or explanation of services on them. When I call to ask about it, I am told I will be called back. My son has been with Dr. Jenkins (abc Dental) for 6 years now. We were referred to Dr. Jenkins from another dentist, because he would not let that dentist in his mouth. We went to abc dental and my son did great. De. Jenkins was gentle and ge loved/lives her. And she and her staff been GREAT ever sense! I haven't had any issues with the office or the office staff. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but they definitely try to get you in and out in a timely manner. read more

DO NOT go to ABC Dental in Oxon Hill, MD. I have been struggling with them for close to a year with a bill for my two children. They kept sending me a bill for wellness visits that should of been covered by my insurance company, but they kept sending it to the wrong place. I called them several times and gave them the correct information and STILL they had the wrong information. I got a call from the dentist this morning (from the office manager, her name was Rocky) saying we had an overdue bill (when I tried to explain about the situation and how i had called several times, she became EXTREMELY nasty, and said that there had been no proof of me calling them). After I got off the phone with her, I called my insurance company AGAIN (I had called them earlier in the year about this SAME issue. They even had a "note" about the conversation), and they told me that they STILL had NO claims from them. They then told me that they would take care of it for me since this had been an ongoing issue and they had "notes" about me calling before. Ten minutes after I talked to my insurance company, they called me back saying everything had been taken care of. The dental office had A LOT of incorrect information (let me remind you that I had been telling them the correct information repeatedly over the last 10-11 months). My insurance rep (Virginia) said they had my daughter as the policy holder...she's 4, and a whole host of other bogus info. I will NEVER go to them again. read more

This was my first time bringing my son to this location since it was his first visit to the dentist...and let me tell you we loved it (well I did but my son didn't bc he doesn't like visiting the doctors) but they definitely treat you AMAZING!!!! I felt like I was at a fancy clinic and they definitely made me feel WELCOMED. My son did NOT want to cooperate. As a toddler, he was terrified of the dentist. They did their best to work with him. They were not able to get much cleaning done, but they did send me out the door with a $100 dental bill. The real test will be when the kid is able to receive the full service. To be continued... Was highly disappointed, appointments were not scheduled correctly so I had to take off work twice for a check-up/evaluation. Finally got around to rescheduling but now totally new front desk staff. My child had (5) cavities (3) on the left (2) on the right. I am normally use to the dentist only performing work on one side of your mouth and then returning to get the other side done. No not ABC they did work on one side of my child's mouth $272.00. Her mother took her back and got the other side done, $298.00. They told my child's mother to schedule an appointment to get the other side done, at which point she was livid because it was told that they would work all issues in each of the two visit not three. Some dentist are Insurance whores and nickle and dime you for services that are not needed. First i should have done better in protecting my child from the cavities altogether and there is no amount that I or her Mom would pay for her smile. But to be nickle and dime for more visits to pay for gas 3x to remove a cavity that should have been done in visit 1. Staff and doctor continue to be non-apologetic for any misunderstanding or why the cavity was not addressed in visit 1. All we got was a shoulder shrug, and I am still waiting for the doctor to call me and explain. WILL NEVER GO BACK....AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU. read more

So let me start off by saying I visited ABC in 2018. That was the WORST dental experience my son had!! On top of it I had an additional dental bill of almost $500( that took a very long time to resolve). The dentist was not encaging at all. The tech was not family friendly at all, she barely wanted to say good morning to us! Fast forward to 09/10/19,WOW!!! My sister took her children to their appointment this summer, because this site was more convenient for her. She told me to give them another chancel. I don't know what happened for the huge turn around, but I absolutely LOVE the staff from the moment I enter the door. The ladies that my son(11y/o) encountered at the front desk were very welcoming and had genuine conversations with him about his new school year. The techs were equally wonderful towards my son, they explained each procedure to him before it was started. His dentist , Dr. Kato (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) was a dream. She also explained each procedure before it was started, what changes to look for while his adult teeth are starting to come in, she had an actual conversation with him. I didn't get the "he needs serious dental work sell", like from his previous dentist(because I was bracing myself). I highly recommend ABC, you won't be disappointed!!!! read more

If I could give no stars, I would have. This dental office initially saw my daughter on February 2019 for an initial cleaning and exam. The head dentist told my daughter's father that based on her exam she needed urgent care. They recommended six teeth extractions at one time for a 9 year old? They scheduled this "urgent" appointment for July of 2019. I told them I would be getting a second opinion. At the new dental office with much better ratings, my daughter was able to be scheduled a week later and break her appointment into two, taking care of the more urgent matters first which did not require 6 extractions. My child is afraid of needles therefore she could not get her cavities fixed at her dentist of 8 years. ABC Dentistry was recommended to me by a friend. I am happy to say got an appointment within days. Upon arrival, the young lady behind the desk was very professional and friendly. I waited in the waiting room about 10 minutes which is acceptable amount of time. They took x-rays and explained what needed to be done which confirmed what the other dentist diagnosed. We schedule another appointment for have the work done. We discussed my child's fear of needles which is why we have not had the cavities fixed eight months ago, she assured me that everything will be OK. Second visit to fill two small cavities on upper left side. Time in waiting room 7 minutes. Dr. Chase was very comforting to my child. Her bedside manner and a bit of laughing gas did the trick. This is the first time my child would let anyone come near her mouth with a needle. Third visit to fill two small cavities on right upper and one lower. Time in waiting room 5 minutes. My children have been going to this dentist for about a year now. Each time I have brought them my experience has been average, not bad, not great, just average. I try to scheduled my appointments early morning or last afternoon so I don't have to wait for a long time with 3 children, 12 years old and two, 3 year olds. I have been toughing it out because they seem to do ok with there dental work, but my most recent experience had me cancel my services with this dentistry. As I stated before, I have two 3, years olds and and a 12 year old that attends this dentistry. On Wednesday March 30 at 11:30 am, 2 of my children are scheduled for filling appointments. On March 29, at 9:45 am I called to notify them that the children were sick (didn't have to do that, some people just don't show up). The receptionist tells me that because it's less than 24 hrs I will incur a $25 cancellation fee per child. Now, correct me if I am wrong but 9:45 am 3/29/16 to 9:45 am 3/30/16 is 24 hrs, there appointment is not scheduled until 11:30 am 3/30 16 so I am well over my 24 hr notification. Secondly, I have no control over a child being sick. Now I could be a trifling mother and bring them in there regardless and risk them getting other children sick as well as the staff, but as a hospital employee for the past 20 years myself, I am super conscious of germs and illnesses and don't want my own children to be sick or no one else. I explained to the Office Manager Tiffany about the situation and she tells me it's not 24 hr notification that is needed, but 48 hr notification that is needed. Again, how am I suppose to know 48 hrs in advance that the children would be sick and I tried to call and reschedule with as much notice as possible, unlike many people would do. I explained to Tiffany the same situation as I have stated above and that the children would not be back if I had to pay for a fee that was beyond my control and her response was simply "ok" as if they don't care about business or loosing customers. Tiffany needs to be trained on customer services etiquette. This type of response and attitude will help a business loose many customers. Nevertheless, my children will no longer be going to ABC Dentistry and I will make sure I notify anyone that is planning on taking there children there about the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and the incident that took place with my children and there appointments. read more

To say the least, the waiting area needs to be cleaned and updated. The sitting is overtop of each other. When we were called to the back, it was no privacy. The room was an open low budget sweat shop. Being a parent I was stuck up against the wall behind dentist chair. The wait time is unreal, with a bunch of people asking the same info over and over. We return for fill in visit, they gave all of 1 min and then began closing the shop saying they wanted to put my child to sleep as it was easier. I guess the risks are easy too? I was referred there by my primary dentist for a single service. This dentist basically told me, she was going to do all my child's dental needs. (shady business) I was not impressed, we will not return. Their are better facilities with great dentist locally. My rate would be a zero, but here's 1star. read more

I took my 3 year old for his check up and the only thing we enjoyed was the waiting room and video games. The service sucked!!! And the female dentist was ignorant as well as arrogant, in my opinion. She stated that my son would need major work on his teeth. Although I could not visually see the cavities she showed me X-rays and pointed to them stating that I couldn't see them because I wasn't a dentist. She also stated that his dental work was an emergency and if I didn't get it now, I would have to come back for a root canal. I told her I was leaving and she stated that I will be back to her office. I went to get a second opinion from a dentist with over 20 + years of experience and was told the cavities were so small that he could barely see them in an X-ray. He told me to go home and monitor them. We went back 6 months later to the new dentist and no major change. We waited another 6 months, waiting and monitoring it. A year has pass and his teeth are fine. Parents please be on alert of inexperience dentist who are ignorant, money hungry and willing to do unnecessary dental work! read more

Im rating this a one star because I was forced to. My child had a recent visit with ABC to fill a cavity. The doctor later informed us that her entire mouth had cavities and need to do emergency repairs ASAP. Something didnt seem right with that because during her 6month check up only one cavity was found and I dont see how the entire mouth can get filled with cavities within 2 weeks. I got a second opinion with a different dentist who has been in the business for over 30+ years. He looked and had another dentist look and even had the hygienist take a look at it. All found NO CAVITIES, they looked at the recommendation paperwork that was provided by the dentist and identified which teeth needed caps/drilling. My current dentist looked at the teeth they suggested get "fixed" and nothing was wrong with any of them! ABC used the most expensive material for a child. Please be aware of what is going on with your child. Always get a second opinion I wish I did before getting her work done by ABC dentistry!!! She will NEVER be back there read more

First let me say that I love that it's a prodominently black office as it's great for my children to see people that look like them in a professional setting HOWEVER, the wait is ridiculous. I've found that they consistently OVERSCHEDULE appointments on days that kids are out of school. My thinkging is regardless of the demand of appointments on that day if you can't handle it then do not schedule all of those appointments. Yes, scheduling people on that day is convenient for the customer but that convenience is quickly erased when you have to wait over an hour past your appointment just to be seen. Instead of saying things like, "so sorry for the inconvenience" or "sorry about the wait" or anything to show even the slightest empathy for the ridiculously long wait we were given attitude from the front desk. One of the ladies at the front desk actually lied to a customer who asked how long the wait was. The patient had another obligation and wanted to make sure her appointment was running on time. the young lady at the desk kepy giving her the run around. So another customer leaned over and told her the truth. That some of us had been waiting over an hour. The other lady at the front desk barked at a customer who was asking why he was still not finished 2 hours later. This was the longest, most inconvenient, unpleasant experience for me and my child. And it's sad that the ratings from two years ago are saying the same thing and things have not changed. Very unfortunate for a company that has great potential. By the way I will be getting a second opinion. My husband said that he thought they were kind of extreme with their recommendations on our kids' baby teeth when we first took them. I had the same experience. I wasn't given all my options however I was smart enough to know them prior to going in and asked about them. I made my decision and two different people tried to convince me to do the more expensive option. yeah, not happening. So second opinion is definitely scheduled. Please DO NOT take your children to this office!!! It speaks volumes that the details of a negative review from 2014 still holds true to today! The waiting room is in badly need of a cleaning, making the extremely long wait time worse! The female dentist was very arrogant, as someone else pointed out. Her attitude was very unfriendly, and that was to me as well as to my young children. The staff, specifically the female dentist, was very unprofessional, and neglected to present the treatment plan before performing work on my sons. On one of my sons (6 yr), she inserted a metal crown on his baby molar without even which option I wanted. They assumed I didn't want the more expensive crown and went ahead without asking!!!! I was pretty shocked, but at least it was his baby teeth and would fall off eventually. My younger son (3) yr had his appointment next. Being upset already, I asked if he was getting a crown also on his baby tooth and the staff assured me with a "NO". Sure enough, he not only got a crown on his front two teeth, they also did not have the correct size and used a bigger crown than he should have gotten, leaving him with two very large front teeth. When I complained they said to bring him back in, but I have learned my lesson and they will not go near any of my children EVER again. AVOID this office unless you want unnecessary dental work and want to receive service from a person who does not want to be bothered by their patients. read more
