All the meats, Burrito ! This is a meal for 2! Get the Guac Sauce!

I've traveled all over the US and eaten at many Mexican restaurants, and Abelardo's ranks in the top 5 for menu selection, food flavor, quality, and quantity. But! They have the best Queso dip I've ever had!!! ALL-TIME FAVORITE! Everything I have had is very good and made to order. It takes a few minutes through the drive through, but wort it! The Burritos are enormous the Bfast bowls are too! You will not be disappointed in portion size, and I recommend the Guac-sauce! This location is drive through only. No inside seating.

A little more "South O" than your usual North O Mexican fare. It's not as American as Taco Johns or Taco Bell, but doesn't have all the offerings of meats (al pastor, cheek, head meat etc) that you would easily find cruising down 24th street. It's got an amazingly fast drive thru, and it opens till 10 on weeknights. I personally love the chimichanga, bc fried burrito is basically my middle name. I think you can get a solid Amer-Mex meal here, it won't hurt the wallet too much, and it's fast and convenient. Two thumbs up from me.

First of all, remember that Abelardo's is a fast food restaurant. When I talk about how good it is, I'm measuring it against other similar establishments. Don't be a food snob and claim that it doesn't compare to a "real" Mexican restaurant. This place is open 24 hours and they're legendary for fulfilling late night snack runs and satisfying the most vicious Mexican food craving. The prices are great and the food... well, let me tell you how good the food is. I live in San Antonio, TX, the TexMex capital of the universe. My daughters attend college in Omaha. When I visit them, I purchase several burritos at Abelardo's, I freeze them in my daughters' freezer, throw them in a cooler covered in ice, and drive back to Texas. Are you hearing what I'm saying? I import burritos to Texas from Omaha. I know it sounds absurd, but it's true, and if you try them you'll understand. And if you don't try them, that only means there'll be more burritos for me on my next trip to Nebraska.

Taco Tuesday is popular. Toppings fresh. They need to drain the meat better. The tacos are either wet and soggy or greasy immediately.

Not only is the food incredible, but the staff are the absolute best and the ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with some chips and dips, and the queso was delicious. It was the perfect amount of spice but still creamy and cheesy. The salsas were also very flavorful and a great start to our meal. I chose to get the carne asada for dinner and it was absolutely AMAZING. The steak was so juicy and tender, and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed, and it was perfectly paired with some tortillas de maiz, the guacamole, and rice and beans. I would absolutely get this meal again. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and provided great recommendations. I will absolutely be returning here again!

The tacos were very good! And the enchiladas were fantastic. We both had margaritas and they were very tasty and the tequila sneaks up on you quick! The place used to be an Old Chicago, so it's a little funny being in there but it was clean and well taken care of.

The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. If you order a drink with your food, they charge for the drinks and food separate for that reason. I liked my jalapeño margarita! My husband got a cantarito and said it's the best one he's had from all the places we've tried to far!

The streetcar boondoggle is not affecting their block so parking is available. Decor is calming. I did not opt for an adult beverage as they were a bit pricey and I needed to retain focus. Settled on chicken enchiladas. Very tasty with some kick. The cheese was drizzled on top rather than baked through. Service was exceptionally friendly, I suspect from the bartender/proprietor. Would definitely return if in the area, but for now I am generally avoiding streetcar construction chaos. If you are downtown anyway, go.
