Came in and we weren't really welcomed warmly. Thought it was a language barrier until I heard the woman speak. My toddler didn't want to sit still so my parents took him outside. It was only then that I was given more attention because she thought we were leaving. When I said I was ordering to go she relaxed a bit. The servings are small. I know it's dim sum but for the price, it's higher than what I am use to. However, the food was pretty tasty I will give them that. The only deceiving thing about the café is its name, "Aberdeen." My daughter and I ordered our usual dim sum dishes: siu mai, spicy chicken feet, sesame balls, soybean wrap, beef cheong fun, and sticky rice in lotus leaf (lo mai gai). Tasty and hot. Good Dim Sum?! I don't think so! Unlike the other peoples' Reviews, my personal experience eating here was quite disappointing. I don't know about others, but the food we ordered were mostly inedible. For instance, the Sesame Balls were basically mini size! 4 little pieces on a small plate compared to 4 BIG ones at other Chinese Dim Sum restaurants for the same price. The Chicken Feet my wife ordered smelled extremely bad! She took one bite and had to stop eating because it tasted sour and rotten.... I requested 2 orders of Pork Shiu Mai, Pan Fried Pork Buns, and an order of Green Onion Pancake. Let's just say all of those tasted funny, tasted a little old and dry. Not sure if the Chef had a bad day or if they actually tried to cook up old leftover food to serve.... The only 2 good food items were the Steamed Pork Spare Ribs and Honey Garlic Chicken with Rice, if I am being honest. The Ambiance is so-so. Very small space with a few tables that you can sit at. I am sure most people order food To-Go if they get food from this restaurant. Additionally, expect service to be slow since ours was.... I believe there's only an older Chinese lady who takes orders, and serves the customers. So, you'll be waiting a while to get your food, utensils and refills on water. The Chili Oil tasted a bit salty than spicy for me. They are stingy with the portion sizes and napkins at this establishment. We were surely disappointed after reading the 4 and 5 Star Reviews that were left on Yelp that we had to go to a different restaurant to finish eating our lunch in order to be satisfied. So happy we gave this place a try, honestly it was like a home cooked meal and I mean that in the very best of ways. We ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki, it was chicken breast which was nice, flavorful and juicy. Perfectly sweet with enough spicy to make you feel it. Spicy Sichuan fish, the broth was insanely good, full of flavor and they did not skimp on the fish at all. It was perfect. Spicy chicken feet, great flavor and I really loved the way they cooked them. Pork soup dumplings, I can't really give an honest review on these because I've never really had them before but they were good, not sure I'd get them again tho and the onion pancake, it was crispy, we enjoyed it. As for the service, as others have said it is mainly just the woman working, she seems to run the place. When we were in there was a cook but he left after our order was finished. She was quick to take our order and brought everything out as it was ready. It was fresh so it did take a little time, nothing crazy. The restaurant was very clean. We were the only table. We stopped in to try their dim sum. They had the typical dim sum fare. She took our order promptly and went into the kitchen. We ordered a few items: shiu mai, steamed bbq pork buns, soup dumplings, gyoza, and cheese rangoons. It took about 45 minutes after having our order taken to get our food out to the table. When I opened the shrimp and saw what they gave me I was shocked, clearly the shrimp is burnt and overcooked and they still gave it to me. No wonder this place is always empty. My chicken bun also had shrimp and mushrooms but no chicken so after eating 1 bun and seeing the state of the shrimp I just tossed it all in the garbage. Customer service is a failed! We walked in and inquired menus the lady acted like we was disturbing her. We sat to review the menu and when she came to clean the table next to us I tried to get her attention by day excuse me. She walked back in the kitchen like she didn't hear me. She exited the kitchen 3-4 more times went to the only other couple in there who told her they weren't ready and instead of checking with us she went back into the kitchen. We kindly waited again she exited the kitchen went to the back and returned to the kitchen. We got up and left. As we got in the car she went to the table we were sitting at and collected the menus. The name threw me off a bit too. I later learned that Aberdeen is a city in Hong Kong. I finally tried it with my mom and son during lunchtime. My mom is your stereotypical Asian mom who is super critical with food. We ordered 71. shiu mai (pork and shrimp dumpling), 79. chicken feet, 39. vegetable chow mein, and bbq pork baos. Like other reviews mentioned, the food took a while to come out. That's because she (aside from working alone), cooks it upon order and it tastes fresh. The place is slow - we were the only ones there - and I was more nervous about food being frozen or leftovers from night before vs. how long it took to come out. So the wait time didn't bother me. Food was great!! We enjoyed all dishes but what stood out the most was the shiu mai which mom says is the best when comparing it to other WA and Hawaii dim sum spots. There's a good ratio of pork and shrimp, plus it's super juicy! Ambiance is in dire need of some background noise. It is super quiet in there. Place is clean and tidy. A high chair was available for my toddler. Whom she was very sweet too and even brought out a snack for. When I'm in need of a dim sum fix, I'm definitely coming back here. An hour later when we left the tables still weren't cleared. We went here because the community was raving about this place and it was only 2 miles away from our home. We grew up eating Chinese food from the international district in Seattle and having a good restaurant so close to us was enticing. Sadly, we were underwhelmed because of the portion to price ratio and flavors weren't to what we were used to. Still love this place. If you're in the mood for some spicy garlic flavor, I highly recommend the Sichuan Fish. Comes in a broth with garlic and chili oil. If you don't want spicey, but still a garlic lover, the chicken mushroom wonton soup is also solid. This is my go to when I'm sick. In fact, it tastes even better as left overs, giving the garlic broth time to absorb into the wontons. (Can you tell I love garlic?) Now that I've become a regular, the lady recognizes me and smiles. It's interesting how the language barrier has softened a bit between us for simply being familiar faces. I recall how anxious and cold she used to seem when she tried to understand what I'm ordering my first few visits, but she's so warm and friendly now. I guess she's just introverted like me. And also some dim sum dish, couple baos The beef was good, The daikon was not so great, I ended up with daikon fiber in my teeth. And the portion is very small. (I ordered togo, don't know if that matters ) Egg custard bao was awful, the custard was runny. BBQ bao was good. My visit to this establishment was around 1:30pm. It was just me and one other table that is already enjoying their food. The heat was not on, it was cold. And the chef lady doesn't seem very happy to see people, and she was the only person there.
