I've been eating here for well over 15 years. Over the years I've done several reviews, however all except the last one have been deleted. Why? I have no idea because they were decent reviews. The last three times I've been here I said I'm never coming back again but this time I actually mean it. Today it took over 30 minutes for somebody to come and take our order. I finally went up to the bar and said "should I order online? Maybe I would get some food that way." so the person I said that to actually came over and took our order. She wasn't even supposed to be our waitress - The woman who was supposed to be our waitress was busy fielding phone orders completely ignoring two tables in the bar area. The restaurant was basically empty and they were completely ignoring the people in the restaurant to place to go orders. The other table waited just as long - they too were not happy. It then took another 20 to 25 minutes to get food - putting me an hour behind in my schedule for the day The Thai iced tea was excellent / they haven't changed it. The calamari appetizer was disgusting - It was super chewy and I couldn't even eat it. (I had to spit it out) The soup that comes with the combos is actually - decent, it's chicken broth with tofu, onions, carrots, and chicken. The Quality has definitely been taking a dive for the last five years and it has now hit rock bottom. The pad Thai was mediocre. The rice was fine - how can you screw up rice? The crispy chicken was not good (over fried and funky tasting sauce) The chicken Rama was a new peanut sauce that is not good like the old one was. The last time I was there I got my favorite Tom Ka soup and it was absolutely awful and it is my very favorite soup - it now has a thick broth, which is absolutely disgusting. So if you want mediocre to bad food in a nicely decorated restaurant with horrific service this would be your place. Goodbye Thai bistro it was a good run for a long time and now we have to terminate our relationship. Last week we ordered over $120 of food & they forgot one of my rice. Today, they forgot 2 rice but thankfully I checked before leaving so I got 2 rice. The food here was awesome - two of my highlights were the Tom Yum soup and the pot stickers (DOUSE THEM IN THE SAUCE). For my 21+ people the lychee cocktail was SO GOOD; two of my friends and I got them and enjoyed them. We had a big party and were able to get a table easily on a Monday afternoon. The waitress was also super friendly and even offered to take our picture, as we were celebrating a friend's birthday! I come here often, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered the chicken pad thai to go and it was honestly nasty. The the noodles were very chewy and there was no flavor and the dish was not edible. When I asked for a refund, the lady working said they don't do refunds, but ended up doing the refund but was very rude during the process , acting like it was my fault for not wanting to eat it. I wasn't disrespectful--I simply explained that it had a doesn't taste right and asked for a refund. Best Thai restaurant in Washington in my opinion a little expensive but you get a lot of food

We came with a group of women friends. I really wanted to like this place, especially since I was really hungry and love Thai crab fried rice! I ordered chicken nuggets for my granddaughter...which was served with broccoli/carrots and rice. She seemed to enjoy it ok. I ordered crab fried rice with brown rice & shrimp added...and was so disappointed when it came!. The rice was kind of greasy mushy...with crab plopped on top...and the shrimp also just on top...the crab and the shrimp didn't look at all like it was cooked with the rice...so I was confused as to why it appeared that everything was cooked separately. It tasted exactly like that, didn't taste at all like fried rice. I have had lots of Thai crab fried rice and it never tasted like this. I tried to eat it and after a few bites I couldn't fake it anymore. It was horrible. And asked the waitress to just take it away...I didn't ask for her to remove it from the bill, I just asked her to take it. I paid for it, but know that I will never come here again. It's rather annoying when you share your thoughts with the wait staff and they want to tell you how it is cooked...instead of just accepting that I wasn't happy with my food. I did pay for it...and I will add that there was someone else in our party that ordered the mango fried rice and she had a similar experience...she said that her food didn't taste like it was cooked together...fried rice is supposed to be a combination of flavors. I had the Panang Lamb, The lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned and cooked. Not too salty, fully cooked and grilled yet not burnt. The panang sauce was delicious! The combination of the two seemed a little odd, although I love both flavors, and this restaurant did them perfectly, it just tasted odd in my mind. The way each part was prepared indicated the high level of professionalism here, while all the vegetables in the sauce,( red and green peppers and artichoke,) were cooked to perfection: not hard nor too soft, just enough bite yet tender and juicy. I will look forward to repeat visits here, and had to give my opinion on my very special dish... don't turn it down, I was not at all disappointed. read more

We were here in Tacoma visiting daughter. She took us here become she loves the food. She is gluten intolerant & lactose intolerant, but finds this place to be wonderful. Hasn't had any food problems since coming here a year ago. Customer service was great & restaurant was very clean. Love the atmosphere. Great selection in food & good portions. This is an update review, not for better but for worse. Maybe this busines changed management. Everything regarding their food quality has dropped dramatically compared to the fine quality and superb culinary skills that long lasted for years. We happened to be in the vicinity and just hopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered Green curry with prawn, side steamed rice and noodle soup with braised beef for my companion. First impression with the rice I received was shocking, instead of the firm texture of nice fragrant jasmine grain rice,the rice was very mushy. It was more like porridge or similar to rissoto in western cuisines. Rice as the primary starch stable in asian cookings is an essential ingredient in most of asian cultures, no matter what ethnicity. Just by judging how well the rice is cooked, pretty much tells whether the kitchen staff is doing a fine job. Besides the curry dish itself was cooked in a curry sauce and it seemed that the prawns was left cooking in the sauce without any attention, therefore resulting being overcooked and turned rubbery. It became chewy! I have never experienced any shrimp in restaurants so tough and chewy. Half cooked green peas topped this curry dish, guessed it was added as the final touch before leving the kitchen, all ingredients were not cooked in the right time sequence and was uneatible. What a shame! The supposed beef noodle was in a strong herbal broth, tasted very sweet, overly seasoned with palm sugar, I believe. Not only was the food quality bad, the table top was not cleaned and wiped down thoroughly either. Left over gravy spots on the table had stained my clean jacket sleeves as well. We ordered some food to go and it was ready when they said it would and service was great. We liked the chicken satays, although I think the peanut sauce was a little heavy on the peanut butter. The chicken panang curry was good, sweeter than I'm used to but good, came with some rice and we just ordered an extra side of rice which we didn't really need but will be good for leftovers. Where things took a BAD turn was the chicken pad Thai. As soon as we opened the box we were met with a pungent, unpleasant smell. I mixed the noodles, veggies and meat and gave it a try. Immediately no, nope, spit it out. I'm no expert but I think the kitchen was too heavy handed with the fish sauce or something was off. I made my husband try it because I am a picky eater after all but he spit it out immediately. The pad Thai went straight in the trash. I saw another review about the same dish having too much fish sauce so if you're not a fan of it, stay clear from their pad Thai. Edit: I looked it up and pad Thai sauce is made with tamarind, brown sugar, fish sauce and oyster sauce. So this place might have some authentic pad Thai and I'm just not used to those flavors. read more
