I hired Aberdeens wedding florists to complement rentals from another vendor to complete my wedding look for a big fat South Asian wedding in downtown Chicago. Dena was so easy to work with and provided such great suggestions during the process! Always responsive and kind - really a rare find with wedding vendors who more often ignore you and don't focus on your event until the week of. My flowers were jaw droppingly gorgeous. They were so fresh and luxurious even though Aberdeens is so much more affordable than other florists in the Chicago metro area. Dena provided great suggestions like alternating bouquet flower colors for bridal vs family bouquets, and reusing ceremony aisle and mandap flowers for the reception guest and sweetheart tables. I can't say enough good things about Aberdeens. They really met all of my expectations. I found them through The Knot while planning my wedding and figured I'd give them a try. I scheduled a consultation with Paula. Our initial meeting lasted 3 hours long, discussing my entire vision! I was incredibly impressed that someone would take the time and discuss every flower, every color, every DETAIL that I wanted without even asking for payment. Me and my mom actually left that meeting with a quote in hand but no pressure to sign anything. When I left our original meeting I knew I wanted to use them as my florist, but thought it would be smart to still shop around. After meeting with more florists, I got more of an idea about what I really wanted and my husband was very involved with the center piece vision. He's a lighting professional and really wanted to incorporate his own lights somehow. So I emailed Paula again asking for another meeting, this time with my husband. We spent another 3 hours with Paula for our second meeting, still no payments were made, discussing center pieces and how we could incorporate these lights my husband had. She grabbed glassware from the back using them as visuals. She grabbed real flowers and tried to put together an idea so we could visually see what we were working with. My husband was extremely impressed. After that second meeting, she asked if we wanted to reserve our wedding date and we of course said yes! But we could have walked out of there without signing a contract, yet she would have still given us the same attention. That to me screams great customer service and I could tell she wanted our business. She was the only florist who called and followed up with us, which showed me she wanted my business and she was going to work for it. I respect that completely and it worked. Although my husband's lighting vision fell through on his end, I'm so thankful to Paula for catering to us when we wanted to try to use different lighting. The day of the wedding went so smooth. I requested a quote through The Knot app and Dena responded immediately by setting up a call. She was so detailed and sweet. I sent her my Pinterest Board and she knew exactly what I wanted!! I actually rented a bunch of artificial silk flowers from a separate company for my centerpieces but I ordered all of my bouquets, boutonnieres, eucalyptus strands, and an incredible sweat heart table arrangement from this florist for around $1000. I'm so thankful for how everything turned out!!! Within a month or so before the wedding, Dena called to confirm all of my details and on the Wedding day they worked with my Coordinator to get us everything we needed. A friend of mine recommended me to Aberdeen's Wedding Flowers... I visited their location on Harlem. Though the decor will remind you of Grandma's living room, they had great prices, good ideas, and good feedback. Now here's my thing, I wasn't the bride who was uber-obsessed about the flowers.... Flowers are flowers, I'm not too picky..as long as they look good, I'm happy! These flowers came out GREAT---a florist comes and delivers the flowers to you (they came to the house as well as the church). Minus ONE star because there was one flower that I asked for in my bouquet, but didn't get...it was replaced with something else--but I can't complain too much about it because the flowers still looked good! So, in the end here is my advice: Choose Aberdeen's Wedding Flowers if you are not going to be the bridezilla you see on TV if something doesn't turn out perfectly. They do a good job. read more

Out of all the vendors I had, Aberdeens went above and beyond our expectations. I had dealt solely with the owner of the company, Jim Harney. I really respect the guy in an old-school kinda way. He was always very nice, offered great advice on the flowers, and always followed up with me. This place deals only with wedding flowers... so they don't do funerals, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc. My only complaints about this place is the office and billing system. It's quite outdated and the showroom is filled with fake flowers collecting dust... it's really only a minor complaint because the flowers I received were fresh and gorgeous. They use carbon paper for billing and it got a bit messy, so that when things were updated and handwritten, it was difficult to read and keep track of. As for the wedding day... Arlene, the woman in charge of delivery, brings the girl's flowers to my house just as promised by noon. The bouquets were absolutely stunning! The orange roses seemed more like a coral color than I had expected, but it didn't bother me too much. Then she headed off the the Church to deliver the alter pieces, guys boutonnieres, aisle runner, etc. After the reception, she takes the alter pieces and delivers them to the church, along with the center pieces. All in all, everything was in the right place at the right time. It really took the worry off of me. One thing that I am extremely impressed with was the freshness and quality of the flowers. We had a poor experience from the start, but heard so many great things about Aberdeen's, and they were a preferred vendor from our initial venue, so we decided to book them for our Nov 7 2020 wedding anyway. Of course with Covid everything was up in the air and very crazy, we ended up pushing our date to May 1, 2021. I felt Aberdeen's was very poor with communication, after months of calls and emails, and not hearing back from them, we reached out to our venue coordinator telling him we were "ghosted" by our florist and needed a replacement. He gave us Dena's contact number from Aberdeen's (he did not know they were the company that ghosted us). After speaking with Dena we found out that the lady, Paula (also unprofessional), we were working with was laid off and she would be our new point of contact. We had a phone meeting and an in person meeting where I showed her what I wanted. She convinced me the flowers in the photo were peach (I did not want peach, I must have said it a dozen times), but she's the "professional" so I went with what she said. Fast forward to the day of my wedding... I was in tears (not the good kind) when I got to the church on my wedding day and saw the flowers. They looked NOTHING like the beautiful spring flowers I asked for. We asked for tall alter flowers: we got two regular sized vases of flowers that sat on a table on the alter. The Hydrangeas lining the aisle were dying, and so we're all the centerpieces at the reception. Aberdeen's did not transfer the centerpieces to the reception, but I do feel it was their responsibility to give instructions on how to handle their product to make them last throughout the day, they did do all the church set up. After the wedding, I emailed back and forth with Dena about how unhappy we were. Dena mentioned that the flowers we wanted were unable to get due to a flower shortage, because of covid. I believe we would have been more than understanding if she would have explained the shortage to us sometime before the wedding so the wedding day wasn't such a big let down. She also offered to give us a $500 refund (that we never received). She was so unprofessional and so rude in her emails, and basically told us that Aberdeen's is allowed to do such terrible work because their contract says so. It was not worth the almost 3k we paid in flowers and I would never recommend them to anyone! Aberdeen's was the florist for our wedding on December of 07. We won a raffle thing at one of the many bridal shows...or stores...or whatever that we visited. I don't remember, I just know we got free stuff and I was all in. It came out to a little over $1000. I honestly can't remember what the deal was or how much we got free, but I am almost positive we saved more than $1000. My wife is good with the financials...so she may know. Anyways, we sat down with a lady and looked at options and she also said we can bring in anything we like. My wife looked through bridal magazines and flower magazines for inspiration. They basically did all the flowers for us including: * the bouquet * the throw-away bouquet * the bridesmaids bouquets * some random bouquet that my mother in law took * flower girl bouquets in baskets with flower petals to throw * corsages for the moms * boutineers for like 12 guys...bridal party...ushers...other important male family members * boutineers for the violinist and cellist * arrangements for the ceremony * aisle runner for the ceremony * aisle decorations * a bunch of centerpieces for the reception including the main table, the other tables, the sign-in table, and the gift table. * they may have even put some flowers around the cake? Let me start by saying I decided not to go with Aberdeen's for my wedding flowers and here are the MANY reasons why: I had met the representative from Aberdeen's at a wedding expo (I believe her name was Michelle). She was friendly and personable. Months had passed and I finally decided to make an appointment with Paula. We scheduled an appointment the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. When I arrived for the appointment Paula had told us she had forgot that she had scheduled with us (myself and my MOH). That was off-putting to start. The whole 3 hour appointment she yawned. The WHOLE entire time. She also talked and yawned. Which would have been okay the first 5 times but it happened the entire time. She was in the middle of a sentence and would continue talking while she was yawning. My MOH and I had a lot of questions. She never answered politely & she was acting annoyed with our questions. She was rude and snarky with her responses. She is supposedly the expert that is why we were asking her. I have never been married before so of course I had a lot of questions and wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. My MOH had asked her if they would do a sample piece and Paula replied "No, that is too expensive. You will never find a florist who will do that for you. Of course, if you pay for it we will do it, but no one will do it for free." Just the way she answered questions was rude. It was like she had somewhere else she wanted to be which she told us in the beginning of the appointment. She forgot our appointment and she was supposed to be home to pack up her house because she had just put her house on the market. I also mentioned at the end of the appointment that the reason I had come in was because I had met Michelle at a bridal show and she was so nice (maybe secretly hoping it was an option to work with her). Paula stated "Oh Michelle won't do anything for you. She can't help you." Again, so rude and snarky. I would never speak that way about a coworker in front of a customer. I did find a florist who was nice, considerate and frankly not rude. That is the kind of business I want to give my money too. They also offered to do a mock up of all my flowers and told me that was their standard practice. Funny how Paula said "No florist would ever do that for me." It was an absolute joy working with Paula for our wedding this year. She was a huge help four months before our wedding when we were frantically searching for a wedding florist who could help us. We met her at the Schaumburg Bridal Show, and she immediately contacted us back and made arrangements on a consultation. Our flowers were stunning, and she worked with us at our initial consultation for about three hours arranging what we wanted for our wedding day. She sat down and showed us many different options, and made some excellent suggestions based on past experience that really made our decor pop. She knew both our church and our reception venue, and worked with both of our locations to make sure our flowers and decor was spot on. I was absolutely stunned when we received our photos back how beautiful our flowers and decor was. The prices were very fair for the flowers and decor we received. The flowers arrangements were beautiful. I can't say I've experienced better since this was my first and only wedding but we had 2 problems: 1. The flower girl basket & petals are charged separately, but when i asked for the basket to be removed from the order, they removed the petals too. We had to pull petals off our bouquets to supplement for that mistake. 2. The arch rental had a tight time frame. We ran a little late on our speeches and such, so they pulled the arch to the side of the dance floor and broke it down before we had our first dance. Also feel like i should mention that they don't have flowers in house when you meet with them. You don't get to actually see what your arrangements may look like. They go off photos. You may want to go with a flower shop if you prefer to see it in real life. read more

The worst people in the world work at this place! They are out to screw you and your wedding day. Buyer beware! They were rude, inconsiderate and half-ass about everything. They took my money and ran! They actually still owe me $60, but I am letting my husband deal with that! My wedding bouquet had completely fallen apart in 4 hours and was lop-sided. Hmmm, this is a tricky one. My choice of florists were all booked up on my date...and when I, too, recieved a call that I "won" a deal, I was skeptical of course. But, i decided to go check it out anyway. Upon entering the shop, I was disappointed. It was not fancy, there are no real flowers on display and it looks old. The reasoning for this was that they do not spend money on ambiance and instead use it for fresh flowers...hmmm. I also received $100 off to book a package and got unlimited boutinierres as an incentive...so a "refundable" $325 was due to book it and I could continue to shop else where...sure, why not - I was like 10 months away at that point. I forgot about them after awhile and months later, I called again to book another consultation - the original lady I worked with was no longer there and I received a new one - ok, whatever. She was cool, but kinda "old-school" - but again, whatever. Prices ended up changing a bit from my original lady - BUT they still honored my unlimited boutinnierres and $100 discount. I too, checked yelp and BBB and was a little scared, but I figured flowers are flowers - as long as their not dead and they listen to what I want, why pay more elsewhere for possibly "better" flowers that will eventually be stolen from the reception and die anyway? That was my reasoning and I followed my gut. They also ONLY do weddings and have been in business forever, so that helped ease my nerves as well. I did end up looking into other florists and most said i was NUTS to expect calla lillies and orchids for my budget. Aberdeens was the ONLY place that said it could work. Soon after, I was very in touch with them and VERY specific and eventually the owner, Bonnie and Asst. Gloria, took over my order. This was MUCH to my relief! felt better about moving forward and couldn't go anywhere else at this point. I was able to check out fresh flowers on weekends where they had weddings to do (yea kinda inconvenient, but hey - not THAT big of a deal). They allowed me to bring in my own vases (which saved me an arm and a leg and the worry about ppl taking them from reception and me ending up having to pay their prices) and I brought pictures of what I wanted and they worked hard to stay in my budget. Never did they push me to do more, spend more or use their vases. They actually HELPED me to save and gave honest opinions on my choices. They helped alot with my selections and together, we came up with a beautiful image of what and how the flowers will look on the big day. They even threw in some freebies for us. So the day of, I was antsy and when they came, it was beautiful. I was a little disappointed about the (skinny) size of the BMs bouquets at first, but it worked out ok and it was exactly the look I wanted anyway. They did warn me about that, but the flowers were orchids and calla lillies (so PRETTY) and i'll take a skinny bouquet of awesome pricey flowers (that didnt come out too pricey) over a full one of garden flowers any day. My bouquet was exceptional - which is more important - and they added a locket with my father's picture and made it just right. The BMs were actually glad to not have a heavy bouquet to lug around. Oh yea, they even dressed up all our bouquets with pearls and rhinestone sprays. My centerpieces were great too - some were a little off from what I imagined, but that's only b/c they were trying to help me save money. Fuller flower arrangements and less green or an extra $500? I'll keep my $500, thank you. So, in the end, you get what you pay for and they help you stay in budget. They really listened, helped and went above and beyond in calming my nerves. I am PICKY! They knew that and worked with me EVERY step of the way. I spoke to them as much as I did with the venue's coordinator. The flowers were alive, fresh, blooming and in the colors I wanted. Could I have gotten better flowers elsewhere? Probably. But why pay more when no one will know the difference? Some places in the city started at $3,000 and I can tell you i spent WAY less than that and had a HUGE bridal party. 10 bms and gms and like 10 sponsors (couples) plus my bouquet and parents, ushers, flower girls, etc. I ended up getting like 30 boutinnierres - were they mad? Nope. Did they skimp? Double nope. Were my flowers mostly callas and orchids? Yup. I am so glad I followed my gut and got to support this family business!! I would like to start out saying that I did not purchase through them, however I did have an initial meeting and estimate for my wedding and felt that a review was necessary. The experience was anything but pleasant. I met with Paula and felt that she was very rude. She did kindly fit me in for a Saturday appointment which I appreciated a lot. This is a company that is partnered with a photography studio (Fred Fox) and also DJ. I personally am not interested in a company that does that, so I wish I would have known that before going to an appointment and wasting over 2 1/2 hours. I am very particular in what flowers I want and I felt attacked by Paula when she asked why I was even there. She was also yawning and talking at the same time which showed very poor manners. She had asked if I have met with other florists and was asking other questions which I felt were not appropriate nor necessary. I was worried because I wanted very particular flowers and thought I would have to spend a ton until someone told me Aberdeen's was a great deal. I went into the storefront and was a little concerned because none of what they had in the shop looked anything like what I had in my mind's eye. All I had to go with was little ripped up pictures from a magazine. I had one brief meeting with them describing what I wanted. I was a little nervous when I left but thankful at the price that they were able to quote. I had to go on blind faith that they would turn out how I wanted. The lady we met with was very nice at our consultation, but I will most likely not be choosing this place for my flowers. Aberdeen's is a great place to go if you are on a very tight budget; but while I definitely wanted to keep costs down, I still wanted to have some elegance in my bouquets and centerpieces. I felt very pushed to keep going cheap - but let's just say, you get what you paid for. I'm not a girly-girl at all, so I thought my ideas were pretty reasonable and not at all flashy, but our lady kept insisting that I should go with less. She had some nice ideas, but it just wasn't my style, and again, it just felt very cheap for me. I have to say that throughout the years I have used various types of florists, but the staff at Aberdeen florist are phenomenal and on top of their game. I have used Aberdeen's for a few occasions which include birthdays , Promise, holidays and also for family wedding events as well. The quality of flowers are remarkable they last for days after everyone of my events. I've never had any issues where the flowers that we have used for any of our events were wilted they always arrived fresh beautiful and stayed fresh for the entire event and days to follow. We have had a few events where we needed to add things to the order and the staff has been so helpful without any issues added my items to the order and I had them readily available for when the original order needed to be picked up. We just had our wedding on 9/20/2013. My experience wasn't the worst but I wouldn't say to definitely go with them! Pros were the lady we met and spoke to at the Harlem location was very nice. And the flowers were on time on my wedding day! I Also loved my bouquet but I think if you YouTube it,someone could have done the job! Cons: the lady at the Schaumburg location the nicest lady, very rough around the edges and she is forceful. They didn't roll out the runner for me on my wedding day like we had discussed and when I call about it( I've called 4x) left a voicemail twice and spoke to someone the other two times, and I still don't get a call back from the manager. They recently called me and left a message about some schtick about me "winning a random drawing" from freakin' David's Obnoxious Bridal. Then they call me again today "to confirm my meeting tonight." HUH? I never even spoke to you and you just assume I'm so stupid that I will believe whatever you say? I feel like this company is deceitful, manipulative, and untrustworthy. Here is my true experience from this company, no exaggerations: I was about to go to a meeting with this florist, specifically with a woman from there named Cindy. I called before the meeting to ask her a few questions since I have been shopping around for florists and comparing prices. When speaking with her, I experienced the rudest wedding "professional" ever. I have been engaged for about 2 years now and have planning meticulously on wedding details. Cindy from Aberdeen's Wedding Florist was the rudest person I have ever encountered during my wedding planning thus far. Although our wedding is next year, she expected me to know the specific amount of readers, flower girls, etc. so that she could quote me. I told her that I wasn't sure. She made it seem like I should know now. Then, she said that our sponsors had to have flowers because they were paying for our wedding. Our sponsors are not paying for our wedding. In our culture, the sponsors do not always help pay for the wedding. She made it seem like she knew more about my culture than I did. Listen lady, I'm Filipino and I've been to many Filipino weddings--not all the sponsors NEED flowers nor do they pay for the wedding. She acted like she knew all this because she was in the business for 35 years (she mentioned this at least 3 times in our conversation). Most of the 40 minutes over the phone with her consisted of her bragging--it was annoying. She even criticized our professional wedding planner who has great connections with several florists. She does not even know who our wedding planner is. She thought it was impossible for florists to give me quotes now although our wedding is next year. Lady, I have quotes from them. Do you not believe me? I read her my quotes and kept the company names anonymous. But the fact that she didn't believe me was rude itself. She then said well how does your wedding coordinator get these? Well obviously she has close connections with florists and they work well with her and will do her this favor. If anything, she should learn from our coordinator. She must not know what's going on in the business if she doesn't know this. I have spoken with other florists and they will offer me the same things she would at a comparable price. She made it seem like it was unbeatable. I was laughing in my head and didn't want to be rude so I kept it to myself. It wasn't until she acted like she knew my culture more than I did when I thought to myself this lady is beyond rude and not worth anyone's business. If you like pushy, rude people, speak with her. What a horrible representation of this company. I'm glad I didn't go to that meeting. The phone conversation said a lot about her and the business--RUDE, untrustworthy, and insensitive to other cultural beliefs. I would not recommend this place. Sorry. read more

My flowers turned out amazing for my wedding. Paula absolutely nailed my vision. They were exactly what I wanted and she was so pleasant to work it. I'm only giving 4 stars because they forgot to deliver my moms bouquet which upset her sooooo much. And they did not line the aisle with petals either which I paid for. "Everything happens for a reason" have been proven once again to be true. Things didn't work well with the flower shop that I originally asked for a quote. Thanks God because Aberdeen's is the best! My very simple wedding reception was so elegant because of the flowers! I ended up spending less and for so much better. They are a joy to work with and very professional in every way. Aberdeens did all the flowers for our August wedding. I was so incredibly happy and impressed with all the centerpieces and my bouquet as well as my bridesmaids bouquets. Aberdeens was so thorough and reviewed and confirmed my order multiple times as well as was able to come and pick up my vases the night of my reception. I was impressed with their open communication and adorable prices. I would highly recommend Aberdeens to anyone! They are phenomenal! read more

I hated this florist. Probably the worst part of our wedding. I got a called that said we won a discount on a package. I should've know better because I didn't enter anything so how can I win something. The whole thing was horrible. The man I believe his name was Jim was a cutie. An old timer who really cared about the success of the business. Besides him the customer service was ridiculous. The flowers were a fake blue color that was supposed to resemble my color scheme but just make it look silly. I wish I would've known how it would all have looked and then I would have just gone to Jewel or Costco and bought my own and saved 700. I really recommend shopping around. They may have pretty good prices and although they have experience in the field they surely are not the best. Do your homework and make sure you get what you want so that your special day is all you've hoped it would be. read more

Just had our Byron Colby Barn wedding and everything was wonderful! They made us a beautiful chuppah to go outside that matched the barn setting; nice centerpieces that weren't overwhelming. Pricing was wonderful for our budget and needs. read more

I had made a huge mistake when I ordered my flowers and miscounted my bridesmaids and because of this company and the people who work there they made me another one and gave it to us on the spot. We hired Aberdeens to be our florist for our wedding in downtown Chicago in June 2014. Living in California, it was extra challenging to plan our wedding in Chicago. Joe at Aberdeens did everything he could to make the process as smooth as possible. We met with him two times during our visits to Chicago, and Joe was extremely accommodating by driving to meet us and going out of his way to help us with the planning! We had a vision for our flowers and Aberdeens absolutely made it come true! Our flower arrangements were gorgeous, romantic, and just perfect! We absolutely loved the table arrangements. LOVED Aberdeen's! I do have to say that I had an issue with my credit card payments being processed on the day they were arranged. I had only scheduled for 2 future payments to be done and I had to call to find out why the payments were not ran as scheduled both times but my sales person Jennifer was always very sweet and helpful. Flowers were BEAUTIFUL and exactly as pictured and GREAT prices! Again, I must say that one of the two ceremony arrangements we had did have a brown/dying hydrangea that stuck out like a sore thumb against all the pretty white flowers and because we choose to do arrangements with flat backs to save money there was no way of turning the arrangement around and hiding it but still very happy with my decision to use Aberdeen's for our floral needs on our very special day. read more

My fiance and I went to Aberdeen's this morning and we had such a great experience. I'm planning a very formal wedding at an upscale venue, but this means I didn't leave a large budget for flowers. Although the wedding floral arrangements I've seen are absolutely stunning, I figured there was no way I could afford a florist. I planned on ordering wholesale, but was so worried about having the flowers shipped, the quality, having to put them together the day of my wedding, etc., so I thought I would do a bit of research regarding florists. From what I saw online, the florists in the Chicagoland were so pricy, until I came across Aberdeen's. I had read some great reviews on Google and booked an appointment with Lauren. Lauren was absolutely AMAZING to work with. SUCH a professional and couldn't have made my experience with my fiance any better. She was incredibly insightful, worked with my schedule and gave us a ton of her time, provided us with so many awesome ideas, did not put any pressure on us whatsoever, and never tried to upsell us. She completely worked with our budget and beat the wholesale prices! I couldn't believe it and felt so relieved. I felt so comfortable working with her and the flower planning went from stressful to exciting! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Lauren and Aberdeen's. My fiance and I are so grateful- now we can have the beautiful floral arrangements we've always dreamed of at a very reasonable price. Thank you Lauren!
