Amazing! Unlike with other places where you need to share a buggy and be crammed in with strangers, this place only does private tours. The staff is very friendly and the waiting time is minimal. This was a great experience for us. We were encouraged to ask questions of our driver, a young Amish girl and did. She told us a lot about her life, being Amish and cleared up common misconceptions (almost everything I thought I knew!). It was a very educational experience and it was also quite pleasant view-wise. I great buggy ride and experience in Amish country our tour guides name was John an Amish man and our horses name was Dixie. We decided to go with the 2 mile tour/20mins which was a total cost of $25. They also have 3 mile tour/30mins or 4 mile tour/45 mins They have many horses and buggies and some farm animals that you can feed while you wait and a small playground. I decided on this place due to the yelp reviews some of the other buggy ride places didn't have the greatest reviews. Abe's buggy rides was great. Our tour guide was extremely nice and pleasant. He was very informative and answered any questions we had. It's nice how they have one buggy per group so you're not stuck on a ride with people you don't know. Stopped in at Abe's for a ride. This takes me back...way back actually, to the olden days when my folks would take road trips from the Bronx out to Lancaster County. Good times. Now, I find myself back with my kids and what better way to give them a taste of Amish life than a horse and buggy ride? Anyway, the ride was pretty good and not that expensive. Just $22 bucks for 3 of us. We took a 3 mile ride with Charlie the horse and Ervin the ex-Amish guy, and it was delightful. He had lots of fun facts to share and the scenery was great. Scenic pastures, Amish kids running around, and a nice look at some Amish farms and vistas. Back at Abe's HQ there's a tiny petting zoo and a nice sized play yard with swings and slides for little ones to get engrossed in. That was a nice bonus. There's are also light refreshments in the ticket booth. If definitely recommend these guys for an authentic buggy ride. Loved it. read more

I enjoyed my personal ride with Elizabeth, who gave me a lot of useful info on the Amish neighborhood. They recommend that you do the 30 min ride for $15 rather than the 20 min for $10 because you avoid the busy street and see the country side. Very friendly all around. Kind of a weird time to go, but that didn't matter. The driver was great. Very friendly and wonderful to talk with. Great little view of the countryside and good information about Amish and Mennonite life. I haven't done other buggy rides, but would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to do one. The buggies only hold 7 people at a time, so we had to wait 30 minutes until our turn. However, the time flew by. Found this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a shot. Came here with two friends on a Saturday afternoon. As you enter, there's place for parking your car. You need to buy tickets at the booth where you have 4 options - 2 mile/20 min/$12, 3 mile/30 min/$15, 4 mile/45 min/ $20 and a longer tour. I suggest the 3 mile ride as it is ideal time to explore the Amish lifestyle. Our buggy driver was Elizabeth, an Amish woman who was more than willing to answer many of the questions we had about their lifestyle, beliefs, etc. Our horse Sonic was in no rush to get us back to the starting place. We rode through a small Amish community, fields, an 18th century bridge that is still used by Amtrak. The tour was fun but not an interactive one as we were expecting to visit an Amish house and meet some people, but their produce, etc. So keep that in mind before you book the tour. read more

We had a wonderful experiance. Our horse's name was Abe, and it turns out that the original owner was Abe but the current owner is different. Abe was adorable and slowed down when he walked up the hill and ran down the hill. The buggies were extremely clean, and the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable, and the wait is not too long. I suggest you get the pretzels that they sell by the counter while you wait. We got the 45 minute tour, and we felt like it was the perfect amount of time. Also, you get your own buggy for as many or as little people as you want in your group. No need to ride with strangers. We visited with a group of 16. We called them in advance to check if there is any group discount but they said no such option. We went for 30 minute ride that costs $15 for adults and $7 for kids 7-12. We had to wait for about 30 minutes before we got the chance. As I read in reviews, only Abe's offer the per family rides. While driving here, I saw many buggy ride shops on the road which looked too commercial. Elizabeth was our driver and she was nice and answered all our questions. Great place. My wife and wanted to do a buggy ride and out all the places we chose this one. We picked correctly. They let us choose which buggy we wanted to ride in. They have several different length rides to choose from also. We picked the 1 hr ride which included a stop a local Amish bakery. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable. Nice thing about Abe's is only your group goes on the buggy, they don't inter mix groups. They also have a nice picnic area to sit while waiting for your ride. read more

I would without hesitation recommend this for anyone that is interested in riding a buggy and learning about Amish culture from a local. Your reservation means it's just your group so you aren't in a carriage (such as AAA Buggy Rides in Kitchen Kettle) and you get to talk with your driver and ask questions as you take the back roads to see Amish country. The weather was great on or ride and we chose the one hour ride (4 people are seated comfortably) and we plodded along with Jewel (our horse) and Earl (our local guide). It's a little pricey but we really walked away with more knowledge and appreciation for their way of life. Also we stopped by the Bird in Hand bakery and picked up some yummy whoopie pies for the second half of the ride. I feel like a decade from now I'm going to look back at the day that I went on Abe's Buggy Ride as one of the best days of my life. Ate a ton of good food, pet a whole bunch of cool animals, and met some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life- being able to ride around in a buggy with a cool guide and the amazing Amish countryside in sight is one of those forever memories. We were there with 5 and 9 years old sons. We arrived there at 9:15 on Monday. and we could go on immediately. It was a beautiful day to do ride, sunny and breezy day. It was beautiful ride. Scenery we saw was gorgeous. The girl was good, very friendly. She did not say much like a guide, but I guess she was there just to lead the horse. We had to ask questions to know what Amish life was like. And she answered. My kids were happy to ask questions so it worked. We did 3 miles/ 30 minutes ride, it was perfect miles for the family with little kids. The ride itself was a decent experience. The guide was knowledgeable. Went through typical Amish countryside. The lady at the reservation kiosk was strangely quite harsh and rude. We were a group of 11. Requested 2 buggies. She wanted to fit us in one - which would have been very tight. She kept on forcing the issue, even called our request "ridiculous" ?!?!? Eventually did give us 2 buggies. We decided not make any issue out of it at all, but with that attitude, no point going with Abe's. It is absolutely misplaced that Abe's is the only game in town. There are 5 other similar ones and with similar buggies and much less wait time (we had to wait 2 hours). Guides can be a hit or miss. The first buggy was with adults - guide was talkative.
