Their sales rep did his homework on our house and then came over with drawings and and Full financial mapping. I am in high tech and business for my day job and he already done much of that research myself but they nailed it and were honest about the size system we needed. Solar city had oversized it. For purchasing they even let me purchase the solar equipment direct and get credit card points. The paperwork process was a breeze and they handled everything. Even the install with the workers was smooth and on time. When we hit a snag in terms of running conduit and making it look good they even hired a contractor to cut into my roof and make it run in the closed attic and then repair it so it looks brand new and clean. We are already producing electricity that is right on par or above their estimates. They got started within a couple weeks of signing the contract and done within a week. They hit every day of their schedule. Update 5 months in. They modeled that from January to May I would produce 6300kwh. Even with all the rain I am coming in at 6700. Appreciate the conservative modeling and over delivering :)

Having East Bay Power Systems design install and certify a rooftop solar panel system has been a…read morewonderful experience. Working with the team (Darlene, Jeff, David etc.) to get the system designed and installed was very easy, they took care of everything, including getting the city to approve the design/installation for PG&E. Installation was a simple one day process, and best of all, we were essentially off the grid the next day. Interestingly East Bay Power Systems use American made solar panels (Aptos) and an American made power backup system (Tesla). Not only does the system perform flawlessly, because of there high output of the Aptos solar panels (up to 450W per panel) the whole array of 10 panels is virtually unseen. As an added bonus, they set up a Tesla app on your phone so you can see at a glance how mush power the system is generating, how much is being used to power the house, how much is used to charge the backup system and how much power is being sold to PG&E. For a system this good, overall cost was relatively low, far less than what I was quoted 5 years ago by two different companies. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them.

I got answers from Darlene that did not make sense. Sometimes her computer was down other times her phone was down. Sometimes she would call to give me a message only to realize that she had called the wrong customer. Did not enjoy working with her. Finally, Kara engaged and we got the Permission to Operate about two months after the install. Supposedly Jeff (the Business Owner) is no longer with the company and has gone back East, so not sure who is leading their future efforts. For future customers: hang on to a portion of the payment till the Permission to Operate is received not just the installation.

He was extremely knowledgeable about solar and made the process of designing our system straightforward and easy. Because I had travel plans, we couldn't start immediately, but the Syndy team scheduled our installation for Jul 27 - 28. Everything went exactly as planned. The materials arrived on Jul 24, and Martin and his crew, showed up right on time at 7:45 AM on Jul 27. They worked incredibly hard, efficiently completing most of the installation that day and returning the next day to finish the remaining panels and cleanup. That evening, seeing our panels generating solar energy for the first time was an amazing feeling! PG&E installed the Tesla Backup Switch a few days later, and everything seemed to be moving perfectly - until our Livermore city inspection on Aug 7. Unfortunately, we failed because an approved heat detector had not been installed. I was extremely disappointed. It felt like having an amazing present sitting right in front of me but not being able to open it! There were a few additional hiccups, but Jason stepped in, took ownership of the heat detector issues, and worked to get everything resolved. We finally passed inspection and received our permit on Aug 26, followed by PG&E Permission to Operate (PTO) on Aug 28. That is probably why they are reluctant to take accountability when things don't work right or if there is damage. Sue, the office manager, was great to work with--she was responsive, helpful, and kept us informed throughout the process. Joe came out to provide the estimate, and he and another installer completed the installation in just one day. They recommended using a pool cover to help retain heat overnight when temperatures drop, and that advice has worked well for us. Since installing the system and using the pool cover, our pool temperature has been averaging around 82°F in the morning and warming up to approximately 85-87°F during the day. We haven't experienced many really hot days yet, but so far the system is performing exactly as we had hoped. We're very happy with our decision and are glad we finally made the switch to solar.

Responses were slow and vague; I could not even get a ballpark estimate without repeated follow-ups. My last email requesting scheduling went unanswered, and then--three weeks later--Joe called on May 6 saying he was eight minutes away. I had no idea I'd been scheduled, and I was just lucky to be home. Bottom line: if you can get on Joe's calendar, you'll likely be happy with the repair. Just be prepared for shaky communication and scheduling from the office staff.
