Perfect for a romantic get away. The Hotel feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, but better than any bed and breakfast that we've been to. You definitely get spoiled with their outstanding full breakfast and appetizers in the afternoon. All of their local restaurant recommendations paired fantastic with their 5 star service. The hotel is located in a quaint neighborhood located just a 5-10 minute walk from the inner harbor. A number of other reviewers have said things about the place being friendly, welcoming, quaint, etc. True. However, we were there with a party who booked the hotel for us, so some of this review is based on frustrations encountered after we arrived. We had 3 adults sharing a room which made it really crowded. The staff did everything they could to make it as comfortable as possible, including providing synthetic bedding for one that was allergic to down (feathers). The room was nicely decorated but quite small, and given the location (right behind the front desk) it was ridiculously overpriced at $300 a night, plus an extra $30 for having the third person in our room. The wi-fi was flakey for our room, but luckily we were able to connect to the lobby wi-fi. The place is located several blocks away from the harbor, on a hill, and kitty-corner from a large homeless encampment. Yes, that's right--a large tent city is a stone's throw from this adorable B&B. The breakfast provided was great, though the dining room seemed too small for the amount of furniture. It was a full-service, sit-down meal with menu selections, and the chef was very helpful in providing options for allergies. In all, I would have preferred to stay in a 4-star hotel closer to downtown for half the price. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for a romantic getaway weekend. We were trying to decide between hotels right down on the waterfront and this quaint B&B. We made the right choice! The staff was incredible, each and every one we encountered. They took care of reservation each one at the last minute. We had a very nice conversation with Nick (the GM) at breakfast both mornings as well as a lenghty conversation with the chef, Matt. Matt was kind enough to provide his granola recipe and I've exchanged e-mails with him for other recipes for breakfast items that we enjoyed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very nice for the price but I have NEVER experienced such a helpful and friendly hotel staff which includes every one that we came in contact with. read more

Walk into the most friendly staff you can encounter with great orginization and a list of local food establishments broken up by price and theme (everything we tried on it was great). Room was large with fire place and fresh made cookies on the bed. Bed was very soft and your body just sank into it like a slab of butter does on a warm pancake. Five o'clock hour hors d'oeuvres were great including a dish of shrimp ceviche on fresh crispy endives. Cocktail hour around this time also. Breakfast is fresh and made to order. I just went to Victoria for the first time, and to be honest I wanted to spend my day in the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in instead of going out to explore the town. Top rated in Victoria and only a 10- minute walk from the Pier, Abigail's Hotel is in a super quiet area. The staff is kind, friendly, unpretentious and the service was good all the way around. Even though the rooms are air conditioned, the neighborhood is quiet therefore you can sleep with the windows open. Contrast that with the Empress Hotel where the rooms are not air conditioned and the area is very noisy.... We are so glad we booked here, not at the Empress. WiFi and breakfast are included. There is no elevator, but we gladly went up the steps to the fourth floor to the Orchid Room (one of their best rooms). The room was quiet, making us wonder if the hotel was half-empty, but in fact the hotel was full yet it was very quiet! They have tea and coffee all day (a water boiling and warming machine for perfect tea). Lemonade is served in the lobby in the afternoons, and from 5-7 pm they serve appetizers in the lobby. It's small, quaint, and romantic. We walked to Beacon Hill Park, the Pier, Chinatown, Parliament House, etc. etc. etc. We highly recommend Abigail's... We had a wonderful experience here at Abigail's Hotel which is located about 5 blocks east from the Clipper terminal in Downtown Victoria. They allowed us to check into the beautiful Orchid room on the third floor before noon. The staff here seems very efficient. Breakfast was amazing as well. From what I understand, their menu changes daily. We had the Coconut French toast and Florentine style omelet - so delicious. I wish we could stay another night but we will definitely be back to this charming boutique hotel/B&B. read more

My husband and I recently returned from a long weekend in Victoria as a mini-vacation before I have our first baby. I found Abigail's through Yelp and we were not disappointed. I LOVE the intimate feel of this B&B, so much more than a hotel! The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is beautifully decorated and has lovely landscaping that makes it feel more private. The guest house that was built much later than the main house but still matches the main house in architecture and style (I was concerned that our room was in some crappy add on to the main hotel, because I have had that experience in other B&Bs). I love the attention to detail! The 3 course breakfast each morning was excellent as was the coffee and tea selection. They even had fresh squeezed orange juice! I created a little confusion one morning because I ordered bacon with my breakfast and received ham. It was a learning experience because apparently bacon in Canada is ham in the US. The evening appetizers were great and enabled my husband and I to hold off on dinner until later in the evening which gave us time for more exploring. The staff were helpful and friendly and gave us great suggestions on places to eat and things to do. They even gave us a little brochure listing several restaurants of all types and price ranges that they recommend (they aren't given a kick back or anything) and we were never disappointed. We brought our bikes with us but found that Victoria is incredibly walkable so we never used them. We listened to live music at the Irish Times as well as the Bard and Banker both of which were recommended by Abigail's staff and were excellent. Victoria is a very youthful city but still managed to attract people of all ages. My only complaint is that I wish we could have stayed one more day. Great job Abigail's Hotel! It has a great location, great customer service, and delicious snacks are always in the lobby. (The liver pate is amazing) I got to meet people from all over the world while I was sipping on a scotch (courtesy of the front desk) in the lovely Victorian lounge room. We were looking for a last minute spa treatment to end our weekend. Abigail's was incredibly accommodating for us. The manager asked his aesthetician to stay a bit longer for us. We were pleasantly surprised to a facial treatment, lymphatic drainage massage, foot massage and paraffin dip. This treatment was on special for an amazing price of $74! Our services lasted almost two hours. The technicians were wonderfully skilled, and the products used were a French line that made our skin feel amazing. My boyfriend had his first facial and was in pure heaven. My only concern was the spa room; it did not have the zen/relaxing feeling I am used to. However, do not let this stop you. Once you get one the able and clothes your eyes, you will be taken away to a state of bliss. read more

Abigail's Hotel is everything it claims to be and a little more. The rooms are stunning (we've stayed in two, a higher priced one and their 'basic'). We love the fact that parking is free. The complimentary breakfast personally prepared by the on-site chef is delicious. The cocktail hour is equally good-honestly we had a big lunch and skipped dinner in favor of the hearty well thought out nibbles and beautiful garden setting. Quiet and serene location, minutes from downtown. Once we parked, we never moved our car. We kept commenting on how civilized an accommodation it is, with gentle and attentive service on every front. We picked Abigail's Hotel to stay on this trip to Victoria primarily due to the fabulous reviews. We wanted a special place to stay for our 35th anniversary and we were not at all disappointed. All the wonderful reviews are 100% accurate. The fabulous customer service started even before we arrived with the anticipation email. Prior to arrival the staff helped us with reservations for a couple spectacular restaurants. Upon arrival the staff was warm, welcoming and so professional. We recently stayed one night at Abigail's Hotel. Quaint, charming hotel and a short walk to the Inner Harbour area. Upon checking in, we were given a tour of the interior amenities and shown to our room. Nice, personal touch! And had cookies waiting for us in our room too! Our room was very cozy and the bed was so comfortable. There are no elevators here, but we were on the second floor, so not an issue. Breakfast was included with the cost of our room, and it was incredible! It was a beautiful morning so we ate outside. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Exceptional hotel! The building is a charming old building close to downtown Victoria. We stayed for 2 nights in one of the Rose rooms. We were greeted by friendly and very helpful staff, and our room was perfectly prepared. The room had a huge bed, gas fireplace and tub. The rooms were exceptionally charming and well decorated. The bed was king-size and some sort of magic must have been involved for creating bed-sheets this soft! Fantastic! (They sell the bed-sheets in the reception, so I'm guessing that many people have requested these magic sheets). Breakfast was delicious. The choice was between light, sweet and savory dishes with different types of muffins, scones and bread on the side, with a great selection of tea and coffee. The light breakfast was a granola with yogurt and fresh fruit. The sweet and savory changed from day to day, and included waffles, french toast, poached eggs, and a really good beans and sausage dish. It was outstanding. The staff was very helpful with recommendations around town, dinner reservations and requirements for the room. With the room came complimentary snack before dinner, water bottles in the room and other small luxuries. Everything was very high quality. Downtown Victoria is 10 minutes walking distance away. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. First, the place is adorable. The grounds are clean and kept up up beautifully. The rooms are big and comfy and the bathrooms are nicely stocked with everything you'll need. The robes are so nice- you'll want to wear them all day long. The location is wonderful! Walking distance to everything we wanted to do in town near the harbor. Next, the breakfast......oh my! What a way to start your day. Chef prepares a different combination of delicious recipes each morning. Some of the best morning foods you'll ever eat... I promise. And....there is an afternoon happy hour with lovely munchies to eat each day too...delish! And now to the staff. I can not praise them enough. Each one was very friendly, helpful and such a delight to be around. They set up reservations for us at some of the best restaurants in town for us- set up our high tea plans at the Empress Hotel for us- and made sure we were taken care well. Located on the outskirts of downtown. Abigails is a wonderful small and personable boutique/bed and breakfast style hotel. We visited for a 50th birthday getaway. From the time reservations were made, through the duration of our stay, the staff exceeded my expectations. We arrived to wine and special touches that made this birthday special. Our Opal room was on the second floor. There are no elevators and rooms are accessed by a beautiful staircase. Our room's massive four poster bed was amazingly comfortable. Note that the bed was quite high and accessed by step stool. Loved the sitting area and fireplace. Although it was too warm for a fire, the area added a wonderful ambiance to the room. The marble bathroom with whirlpool tub was large enough for both of us. We had a savory breakfast delivered to our room, on time, which was delightful. They have an excellent chef. Our room overlooked the front garden patio area, was light and very quiet. Interestingly, we heard no other guests although the hotel was full. If you are looking for the personal touch and privacy, within walking distance of the harbor, Abigails is for you. We will be back. read more

I've been meaning to write a review of Abigail's for some time now. My husband and I purchased an elopement package a few years ago and had an absolutely amazing wedding with our closest friends and family at Abigail's. We were in a bit of an immigration predicament, which led us to get married in a rush at a place that we had never visited. We based our choice on online reviews and couldn't have been happier. Our room was wonderful, with a massive tub and luxurious bed. We received completely blissful massages. The breakfasts were out of this world. And our wedding... it was perfect. The staff made it so that we didn't have to worry about a single detail. They completely accommodated all of our requests and answered every question we had from the moment we first emailed an inquiry. I have nothing but praise for Abigail's and the staff (especially Allison). We enjoyed our experience so much that we have been talking about returning for our five-year wedding anniversary ever since we checked out. read more

Very nice hotel walking distance (10-15 mins) from the Ferry terminal. Location is quiet but still convenient walking distance to all the city attractions. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, much better than some far more expensive places we have stayed and can be enjoyed on their small shaded patio as well as their small dining room. Tea and coffee is available all day in the front room which has comfortable chairs and lots of books and games.and a substantial and delicious array of hors d'oeuvres are laid out late afternoon. What made the place special was the very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We stayed here for a special anniversary and were greeted by a card and a bottle of wine in our room, a nice touch that we appreciated. Note that there is no elevator so some rooms require a lot of stair climbing. Not a problem for us and the staff are happy to carry bags for you. Would definitely stay here again. read more

My husband and I stayed here in October and we were so impressed with the level of service provided, the accomodations, the breakfast, and the proximity to everything in walking distance. We've been to many B&B's and for some reason they always seem to be ran by non-social innkeepers (kind of counter productive for this industry), any way, you won't find any of that at Abigails. The staff is amazing and accomodating. We arrived and they took our bags up to our room for us, they served us wine out on their patio and brought an iPad out for us to search for a place to eat. They were quick to offer suggestions, call a cab, make a reservation, whatever you need. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. During our stay there was a power outage and I don't think anything fazed the staff - the kitchen was still working it's magic and everyone was happy, fed, and it really became about mood lighting instead of a power outage. This place is amazing. I was hesitant to book a B&B style hotel instead of one of the large hotels in town - but I'm glad I did. We stayed in one of the Sapphire rooms & felt like royalty. The staff is so friendly & helpful that it will make your head spin. They will make dinner reservations, call cabs, provide suggestions & help in any way they can. Celebrated a birthday and engagement over Memorial weekend at the Abigail hotel. So many great reviews so we had to give it a go. We took the ferry from Anacortes to Sidney then taxied to the whimsical hotel which is tucked away in a little suburbia just 10 minutes walking distance from downtown. Upon arrival, the front desk host greeted and walked us to the Emerald Suite. On the bed, a bottle of wine, box of chocolates, oatmeal cookies, and a handwritten card to celebrate. The room was cozy and elegant equipped with fireplace and jetted tub. The king size bed had the most comfy sheets and pillows! Loved them so much I ordered a set for our home. Sunday morning we made our way to the dining room for brekkie. Once seated the servers took our drink orders and served fresh scones and fruit. We had a choice between a lite, sweet, or savory option. The eggs benedict w/ fingerling potatoes and andouille sausage was A++ in my book. Hors d'oeuvres were also a lovely treat served between 4:30pm and 6pm. We chose not to have our room serviced while we were adventuring through Victoria but came back to our room and found a basket stocked with fresh towels, water, and amenities waiting at our door. We stayed at Abigail's for 2 nights at the end of July on the first leg of our Honeymoon. We were in one of the Emerald rooms in the separate building, and it was lovely. We reserved the room through one of the discount sites, and the site indicated that the room had a four-poster bed. Then we received a confirmation months later indicating that we would be staying in an Emerald room. When we checked the website, the Emerald rooms did not have four-poster beds so we called the hotel to discuss the discrepancy. They were very courteous but explained that these rooms had been redecorated since we booked it in January, and assured us that we would enjoy the room even though it did not have a 4-poster bed. The manager even called to talk to us snd reassure us. . Upon arrival, we were shown to our room on the 3rd floor, and the room was very lovely, with a cathedral ceiling and a chandelier.... they had also left us a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate our honeymoon. We were very pleased with the accommodations - we did use the fireplace even though it was summertime, and the bathroom was modern and lovely. We had breakfast both mornings in the dining room - excellent food and the wait staff was wonderful. Our only regret on the breakfasts was that it was not nice enough to dine outside in the garden. The lobby was very nicely decorated and there was also a library where you could select DVD's or just sit and enjoy the ambiance. We did not partake of the afternoon refreshments, as we were busy both afternoons. The only downsides to this hotel are that we had to climb 3 flights of stairs to our room (although we had help with the luggage) so if you have difficulty climbing stairs then request a room on a lower floor) and the parking was a bit limited, although we did find room in the lot when we needed it. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again. . read more
