I've been here twice, but I finally decided to do the tea tasting. It's a cute little cafe that over looks the Bay Area and sandwiched between the two model ships. You'll be ordering at the counter and then go get your stuff. Make sure to specify that you want to stay for the tea tasting or whatever you are ordering if you are staying. The lady automatically thought we wanted it to go, so started packing everything we ordered. When we told her it's to stay, she got annoyed and start unpacking and throwing our stuff on a plate. It was kind of a funny fit. There are people who are in costume walking around talking to people. They are very educated on what happened during the Boston tea party, and friendly. The only reason why I knew this is that they talked to everyone except for Asians. Kind of weird, but I guess they don't want the language barrier. This place was such a cute spot on my Boston trip. I found it very enjoyable to be able to taste part of history. Definitely worth getting the bottomless cup so that you can try all the teas and find the one you like. I didn't expect that me and George Washington would have similar tastes! Also we had scones which were perfect. However, we were able to purchase a tasting cup and sample five different teas in the tea room. A brilliant way to immerse yourself in the Boston Tea Party era without paying for the $25 tour/ reenactment. This themed tea room is nestled towards the back of the museum and gift shop, so it may be hard to find. Follow the signs through a door in the gift shop to a metal bridge which takes you to the entrance. The *bottomless cup for $3.99* is what you'll want to get. This allows you to pour unlimited amounts of the 5 teas that were claimed to have been thrown overboard during the Boston Tea Party. The workers -- who are adorably dressed in settler attire -- were very helpful and informed me that these teas were even imported from China. There were two green teas and three black teas. There were some old school games on some tables (checkers, cards, etc.) and the decorations were completely convincing. They also have pastries and baked goods which looked yummy and would pair nicely with the hot tea. This was a pleasant respite from the cold, gloomy weather outside and I'm so glad that we stopped in to relax for a short while, at least until the rain subsided. read more

We enjoyed Abigail's tea room after a visit to the exhibit museum. The food is not stellar or anything but it's nice to sit down and have a tea while you look out over the other tourist on the experience. We had the chive and cheddar scone and a chocolate chip one. Both were good. I enjoyed the tea tasting even the smoky one. Overall the staff is friendly and I would recommend. read more

I was kind of disappointed during my time in Abigail's Tea Room. It's a nice tea room, nicely decorated, comfortable, service is good. But it didn't feel like the true tea room experience for me. Maybe I am spoiled because there is this amazing tea room in Miami I go to where it's full service called the Cauley Square Tea Room. The menu is limited: simple sandwiches, scones, cookies and drinks. Tea wasn't served to you, it's self serve and not in a tea set. It was interesting, though, to try the blends of tea that was used during the colonial era though. It wasn't bad, I did enjoy the meal simple as it was. But if i had known beforehand it would be like this, I probably wouldn't have come. It did have this amazing craft ginger ale though, but that's certainly not want you go looking for. read more

I did not have any of the pastries that they offered, but they looked delicious. I did do the tea samples and it was perfect. They have all of the teas out from the tea party to sample with sugar, honey, milk, etc. I opted to do a small sample of each of the teas to see if there were any that I particularly liked. I ended up liking 4 of the 5 teas and bought some in the shop afterwards. They have characters in the tea room dressed as well to answer questions and games from that time to try out. Abigail's is a cute place! It's a bit touristy, so just keep that expectation going in. It's part of the Boston Tea Party Museum, which I didn't realize when I found it on Yelp initially. You don't need admission to the museum and can walk straight to it. My Mom and I went midday and had the place mostly to ourselves. We tried a delicious pastry and sampled the five teas thrown over board during the Boston Tea Party. Gals dressed as historical characters roam the room and playfully interact with kids. You get decent water views and sit in a historic inspired room with old timey games and furniture. If you like tea, it's fairly fun. My only observation here is that I don't believe the venue is accessible. You have to take a long, complicated way to get to the Tea Room (it's in the back) and it is not conducive to people with disabilities. It's connected to the Boston Tea Party Museum (although admission is not mandatory), the staff members are dressed in character, the view of the harbor is gorgeous, and it's a unique learning experience. They provide an interesting tea tasting concept that I recommend. Instead of receiving a flight of tea, you're given a refillable mug to use at the self-serve tea station comprised of five historic teas. They also have milk and different options of sweetener. You can stay for as long and return as many times as you want. The only downside of our visit was the food. We ordered the roast beef sandwich and the tea platter comprised of a pot of tea, two scones, clotted cream, and jam. My boyfriend couldn't get through the sandwich because it had a strange taste and I thought the scones seemed a little stale. Other than that, we enjoyed our time there. Be sure to stop by the gift shop on your way out. They have an extensive collection of teas as well as other memorabilia. read more

Abigail's tea room is a unique experience if you are looking to have fun in Boston while immersing yourself in Boston history by literally sending yourself back to 1779. The tea room is attached to a museum where you can throw simulated tea into the Boston harbor (fun) but we proceeded upstairs. There's a gift shop where you can buy various toys and trinkets based on the revolutionary theme, and a little further upstairs there's a little cafe where you can get different types of tea. You can either buy canisters or boxes of tea to take home, sample teas that were actually drank in the late 18th century, or sample various concoctions thought up for the 21st century... OR you can have a whiskey flight. Naturally, that was my choice. You can proceed to a room where there is a restaurant setup, where there are board/table games on every table (I'm not sure if these were actually played by people in the 18th century but they do a great job of making you feel like it) and there are actors and actresses in full costume and character who will sit with you and explain the game and history to you. All in all, It was a fantastic time. The whiskey was pretty great too. read more

I was planning a lot of beer stops in Boston for myself and decided I should look for something my partner would enjoy. I searched for tea and there was Abigail's. Abigail's Tea Room is basically the cafe of the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. Fun fact: you can visit the tea room and gift shop without visiting the museum - just walk in and start following the signs. For $4, you get a cup and can then spend as much time as you like enjoying the air conditioning (or not. There's some tables outside too) and sampling the five historic blends of tea that were thrown off the ships. The tea is hot, so give yourself plenty of time to let your tea cool. We eventually bought two scones (when we decided we could just keep drinking tea forever) - a moist, delicious cheddar rosemary scone and a disappointingly tasteless blueberry scone. They also served a few other flavors of scone, lots of large cookies, and had a few cake/pie selections. If you're looking for a place to relax and drink Historic tea blends until your bladder explodes (it doesn't have to - you also have access to a clean bathroom!), you'll love Abigail's. (There's a ton of non-historic tea blends for sale in the gift shop - in addition to the historic ones, and the lavender black tea is spendy, but amazing. In case anyone is wondering, because google maps makes it look like you're being dropped off in the middle of a bridge... you kind of are. I took an uber here so it was no problem, but honestly I have no idea about parking. I'm so glad I came here for a light lunch and a sampling of the 5 historic teas. They had a lunch special of soup and half a sandwich was perfect. I enjoyed the 5 teas... well 4 of them because the one was a little weird for me. While everyone was going for the $3.99 per person unlimited historic tea tasting, we went for the $14 tea platter that serves up to 4 people. The tea platter had 2 scones (of our choice), blueberry jam, a very cheesy tasting cream, and a pot of Abigail's Blend tea. When the kind staff member dressed in colonial attire brought us our platter, she also informed us that we each get a free tasting of their 5 teas in the seating area! Need I say we made complete use of this privilege? The seating area is something special. Scattered around on tables are 18th century games like Tic Tac Toe, Checkers, and what would soon be my favorite: Nine Men's Morris. They included instructions for playing the game in a piece of paper for those who don't know, which we read carefully and soon found ourselves heads down, having a fierce competition to find the best Nine Men's Morris player among our party of 3. In case you're wondering, I came in second. Despite all else, I am sad to state that the scones were not good. The cheddar and chive scone was very dry and didn't taste fresh. The chocolate chip scone was somewhat better with a softness to it, but it crumbled in my hands before I could eat it. I wouldn't recommend having a meal here but definitely give their teas a taste. With its extreme smokiness, the Souchong black tea was one of the strangest teas I have ever smelled and tasted. The green teas are also delicious. read more

We had some time to kill before catching our train back to New York, and Abigail's Tea Room (located inside of the Boston Tea Party museum) was located just a few blocks from South Station. This place is a fun and extremely cheap way to spend an hour or so: $4 for unlimited tastings of five teas that were thrown overboard during the most famous tea party in history. You can either choose a to-go cup or a mug for dining in. You can also switch out your mug in order to take some tea to go if you haven't quite had your fill at the end of your visit. There are five teas to choose from. We tried them all, and it seemed that the teas got darker and stronger as you moved from left to right. The first two, Singlo and Young Hyson, were green teas, while the last three, Bohea, Congou, and Souchong were all black teas. My favorite by far was the very flavorful and supremely smokey Souchong. We drank a full cup of each, and then I also took a Souchong to go. It was a lot of tea. I enjoyed the Souchong so much that I've made plans to buy some online. The room also has some 18-century games that you can try out. We played an educational (and infuriating) round of nine men's Morris, a game somewhat similar to Checkers. Fun to give it a go, but like other games, it's less fun while one is hungover. The staff members come around and helpfully explain the games, which we needed. You can purchase food and other types of drinks here as well, if you'd like. I can't speak for any of that, but I can vouch for the tea and the history. Go! read more

I couldn't decide if I wanted to come here or not because I was worried that it would be too cheesy. It ended up being cheesy but in a good, really fun way. We didn't do the museum, just went to the tea room. You order in one room and then sit and eat and drink in the attached room. You can get the tea tasting with or without a souvenir cup. There are plenty of other drink options if you are strange and don't want tea. There are tons of food items as well, everything from desserts to full meals. We got sandwiches, a Boston cream pie and the tea tasting. The food was ok but the tea tasting was super fun. The tea is all the of teas that were thrown into the harbor. What a neat little place!! It had all kinds of teas and we had fun trying them out. The souvenir cup that you can get there is pretty small and very breakable so beware. We brought it home in tact but used it less than a month when it broke. I was so sad because it was super cute! The little biscuits are good, too. Abigail's Tea Room is a little hard to find, nestled behind the entrance of the Boston Tea Party museum, and the gift shop, and down the stairs. I finally had to ask someone where it was, because I was really tired, and really wanted to sit with a cup of tea. (Good thing it wasn't 1773.) You order at a counter, then take your tray into the tea room yourself. There are baked goods and cups of tea, but also an assortment of alcoholic beverages, and tastings are available. We got scones and opted for the bottomless cups of tea. The scones were very fresh and light. The bottomless cups of tea are a bargain and should definitely be tried. You can sample as much as you like of five historical teas that are set up on a table at the end of room - you know, the very tea that would have been thrown into Boston Harbor in 1773. They are tasty, and if you aren't sure where to start, servers in period dress will explain them all to you. The tea room is decorated as you'd expect, but there are some extra fun touches, like colonial era games on each table, and every so often, you can watch a reenactment of the tea party in the museum ships from the windows on either side. It's a nice place to take a break from sightseeing, and well worth the modest cost. read more

The tea we bought there was fantastic (dry tea we took home) , the cookies and pastries we had at the Tea Room were absolutely delicious. Very clean, bright and wonderfully decorated place. I would say, yes, you have to stop there. My only complaint, one employee didn't know what the other one was doing and it seemed like confusion between the two of them at the two counters. I was able to get a complimentary tea tasting from my purchase of the Boston Duck Tour. At first I was under the impression I would also be getting a tour so was slightly disappointed. To get to the tea room you walk through a gift shop and up a ramp. I arrived to the tea room to an empty dinning room. There was a staff man in the corner who ignored me but then someone came from the back and really turned my experience around. He was very friendly and helpful, explained what I could receive with my coupon and invited me to try the three different tea options and showed me the backed goods for purchase. Since the tea tasting was free I thought it right to purchase some cookies. I went to go try the teas, but to be honest I wish I had 3 different cups. I really enjoyed the green tea (so much so I purchased some for home) however I did not enjoy the second but had no where to discard to try the third. My friends and I were going to check out the Boston Tea Party Museum, but we decided to just check out the gift shop and Tea Room instead. Since it is right by the water, you have a great view of the area and of the ship right next to it. This place is cozy, and it definitely has that colonial feel with the colonial games on each table and staff dressed up in costumes. They have unlimited tea cups for $3, so you can just taste all the teas that they have. They also have a package for $12 that provides you with a pot full of their Abigail tea and two scones. We stopped by to try the historic teas that were tossed into the harbor during the Boston Tea Party. The price was fair, just $3.99 for all you can drink out of the five teas, which were arranged from weakest (#1) to strongest (#5) and offered in a self-serve fashion. Out of the five, the young hyson green tea (#2) was probably the most palatable. The two strongest were a bit too smoky for me despite being a seasoned tea drinker, with the strongest, Souchong black tea, both tasting and smelling like burnt wood - but still worth a try. If you really enjoyed any of the teas, you can buy a can of dried tea leaves at the nearby gift shop for about $15. They also had other offerings, including apple cider, hot chocolate, and various scones and other snacks, which you can purchase separately to give yourself the full tea tasting experience. With the very reasonable prices, I'd say it's worth a visit for the historical curiosity, if nothing else. read more

Was in Boston in September and decided to do some touristy things. Chose this Boston Tea Party package with the tea room; it was a great choice. The re-enactment was superb; the staff has every guest involved and made The Boston Tea Party very relatable. It was a fun and awesome learning experience. After the history lesson which was about 1-2hours, we get sent to the tea room. When you walk in through the door, to the right is the little cafe that served refreshments and snacks. They also had sandwiches and soup if I recall correctly... and then to the left is the doors that opened to a big room with windows all around that had a colonial theme. When you enter, you pick your own seat and at every table, there are old fashion/handmade board games to play. They offer a variety of teas and each one was tasty. They even had sugar, honey, etc all prepared on the side of the tea brewers for you. My boyfriend tried the Whiskey flight and he said it was strong and delicious. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Would recommend trying tea room if you've never been! read more

We happened to go to this place when we were walking around Boston, debating about whether or not we want to see the show at the museum. The last show was at 4 so we were late, but we decided to grab a cup of tea at Abigail's Tea Room. And it was a good choice, because we sat by the window and got to see the show for free! This is a very cozy, nice place made to look like a big living room with an English touch. You pay for your tea and get your cups, and then in the tea room you can fill and refill your cup with whatever tea you want. They also have a bakery area to get pastries and desserts to go with your tea. The menu mentions lunch items as well, but we went here late afternoon so we didn't try any of that.
