My Tesla Model S was hit on the freeway and the entire drivers side was damaged. Initially I was looking for a Tesla authorized body shop through my insurance with Geico but they all had poor reviews. I brought my '89 Mercedes to the above ultimately after a handful of auto repair shops had told me that extracting screws from a door striker is something a body shop would do. Was referred to this shop after visiting three that did only collision repairs. The manager confirmed that one of his technicians (an older man) would take on the task. I hit a stray tow hitch on the 5 north past Camp Pendleton and had the car initially towed to a dealer. I called Geico, who suggested I go to a Geico associated collision center. I was given 5 options, and of the 5 options I briefly searched online, Ability Auto Body had the best ratings and I felt confident to send my car there even without even setting sight or talking to the collision center. I was sent to this place by my insurance because some idiot had hit my parked car. I was devastated, honestly. I dropped it off on Wednesday where they inspected it and gave me the quote on how much it was all gonna be. Luckily for me, I just had to pay my deductible. (Which I'm getting reimbursed for.) They also checked for internal damage, which is nice. It was a quick and easy process! They called me on Monday to let me know that my car was ready! I picked it up and it looked as if nothing happened. There was a small issue with the plastic part of my car --which we thought was dirt-- but it's an actual scratch. I shot Kevin a message and he replied right away and said I wouldn't have to spend another penny; he'd order the part for me and take care of it! It really shows that he has great customer service and actually CARES for his clients. Overall, I had a great experience and I highly recommend this place! I rarely change my reviews, but this company 100% deserves it. Originally, after having my car fixed by Ability, I was not impressed. I had a small dent with some scratching in the rear quarter and bumper (hit and run). After three days at the shop, I got my car back only to find visible clearcoat bubbling/orange peel over the repaired area, and even several visible embedded specs of dust. They also installed the bumper incorrectly, with some of the weatherstripping crammed under the plastic trim in the trunk, which caused the trunk to rattle and not close right. I was pretty upset and left an honest review. Not 30 min later, Kevin, shop owner, called me, sincerely apologized, acknowledged the low quality of the repair and asked to bring the car back so that he could fix it personally. He even offered his own personal truck as a loaner, while he was working on my car. When I picked the car up in just a few hours, all issues were fixed to perfection. Kevin even offered to cover the cost to repair a couple of unrelated door dings I mentioned, for my trouble. This guy truly cares about his reputation and customer satisfaction. My Camaro SS, which is in cherry condition, was hit by someone in a parking lot even though I give lots of space when I park somewhere. Ability thoroughly checked the damage and worked with the insurance company, who provided an estimate that was too low for returning my car in the condition it was before it was damaged. Ability also threw in fixing a small blemish that was near the damaged area. When I went to pick up my car, it didn't quite meet my expectation, so they made the refinements I asked for and it turned beautifully. And it only took a week even with having to order a fender. UPDATE: 9-5-18I took my 2016 Honda Accord to this shop after it was rear ended. This isn't the first time I've taken a car in to a shop, but what sets this shop from my previous shops is how far they went to fight for me with the insurance company to pay for the damages. To top it off, they used original Honda bumper to replace my old one, instead of just following what the insurance said(aftermarket)! Not all body shops will do that. On 7/7/23 my 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback had mechanical issues causing me to lose control and hit a curb late at night. My car came to a complete stop and was no longer drivable. That same morning, after one failed tow attempt and another poorly executed tow, my car endured more mechanical damage and now body damage. Less than three miles up the road and four hours later my car finally made it to Ability Autobody. After the damage "Quality" towing had done to my car, they tried to charge me for the tow. Claiming "special equipment" was used that wasn't even used. They were dispatched through my AAA roadside insurance, so the tow was covered. Kevin helped me handle the situation that should've been handled between AAA and quality towing in the first place. Kevin was very helpful in standing up for me during the chaos of our arrival. Quality towing caused me a lot of stress, and more damage to my car. Kevin backed me up, and I did not pay for that chaotic tow. Ability Autobody was quick with giving me an estimate and time frame. Enterprise is just down the street too for convenience. They said my car would be ready within a month depending how fast they could get the parts needed, but only 2 1/2 weeks later my Honda was ready. It looks new again! I stopped by this body shop to see if they could help me put a replacement piece on my car I had already bought myself and thought I could reattach, but it turned out to be a little more complicated than I thought it would be. I figured I'd just pay an installation fee or something, but they took my car in right when I got there, attached the piece for me, and even buffed up a couple tiny scratches and paint chips I was asking advice on. They did all of that out of the kindness of their hearts, like it was no biggie, and I thought it was freaking awesome.
