Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon with the fam. It was quite busy, but we were able to find some seating. The ambiance is pleasant, not loud at all. We tried the pumpkin pie latte, which was delicious, and the salted maple latte, which was rather bland. The only two complaints are that our drinks were lukewarm, not hot, which was disappointing. Stopped here today with my husband before a nearby event. The person up front was sooo nice. We got cold brew with pumpkin syrup to share and I regretted not getting my own it was so good! We enjoyed it so much we forgot to take a picture. We didn't stay inside but there were lots of spots to sit and it would be a great place to enjoy a drink and do some work. read more

This review is solely based off their matcha! I've been on the hunt for good matcha in Richmond and stopped by grit. Cute cafe, super spacious, tons of seating. Cashier was very nice and honest. I ordered their matcha with blackberry syrup and let's just say, it tasted like flavored water. If it was up to the Matcha, I would rate it one star. I don't know if it was the Matcha brand, or the Matcha portions, it was just bad Matcha the staff was nice enough to offer either a refund or to meet me something else I tried their chai, which I really really liked, but I also don't want to pay eight dollars for Chai. That's rather expensive overall their coffee might be good. I don't know, but do not get their Matcha. read more

This place is really cute! I really like their hazelnut latte and have gotten it twice since. The first time I went the barista was super helpful when I was trying to figure out what I wanted. They recommended me their breakfast sandwiches/what syrups they like (the blackberry syrup) I will definitely be coming here to do work, there's lots of seating and the inside is super cute and decorated which makes it almost feel homey! read more

Decided to branch out and try a different coffee shops in the area. At first glance, the atmosphere was very calm and gentle where if you wanted to get work done, it was possible, but I recommend getting there early as their seating is very limited. The employees were friendly and you could tell they enjoyed the company of one another which enhances the atmosphere too. I got an ice vanilla latte which I wasn't necessarily a big fan of since it tasted a bit watered down, hence the three stars. I would come back to try something new and will update my review if my experience improved! read more

I stopped by this coffeeshop on my way into Richmond for a meeting. It's really large and bright, making it a great spot for reading, working, studying. I'm an americano drinker most of the time (my biggest decision is whether it's to be iced or hot), and my americano from Grit was very good. The service was also extremely friendly and fast. There was plenty of street parking around the shop. All in all, I enjoyed this coffeeshop. I wish I'd had time to it in a stool in their big front windows and read my book while I enjoyed my coffee, but I was in a little of a rush. I'd happily return if I'm in the area. read more

I'm a huge fan of Grit Coffee. I've been to the Charlottesville location and their other Richmond location. I actually have their beans at home right now. They roast great beans and make high-quality coffee. I've been wanting to check out the Scott's Addition location, and I'm happy I finally did. I might've ordered the wrong thing because I wasn't a fan like I normally am. I decided to try their winter drink special, the cardamom vanilla latte. I found it to just be ok. I think I'll order my regular thing next time which is their mocha. I'm not sure about this location, but they usually make a good matcha latte. My partner and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty busy but we were able to find seats. We enjoyed some card games with our coffee. People around us were working on their laptops which makes me think they have good Wi-Fi here. The space is nice and I love all the natural lighting. Another huge plus is that the barista here are extremely kind and wonderful. Found this nice coffee shop when looking to change up my study routine. Grit is nestled in the heart of Scott's Addition. I had no trouble finding a parking spot and was able to park right in front of the door. I tried the white peach iced tea and cheese danish. I really enjoyed the flavor of the tea and asked for it sweetened. Personally, I like more sweetener so you will probably need to specify if you like sweet tea like me. Grit's Scott's Addition location opened fairly recently in the new Otis building at Moore/Roseneath. The space is airy and industrial, with lots of cool art to check out. Ordering and picking up is a breeze. My friend and I both got cold brews, which were quite tasty. Lots of people were set up and working in their space, and there was plenty of seating for any occasion. The baristas were prompt and friendly also, and the bathrooms were clean, which always makes me feel better about a place. I'd definitely go back if I'm in SA and in need of a jolt of caffeine in the future. read more

Beautiful space! It was the perfect place to work for the morning. A colleague suggested it and I was a little nervous about parking. I was able to find a close spot! When I walked in I noticed a lot of the seats had plugs for computers. Mine dies in 2 minutes so I appreciate being able to have options on places to sit. I chose a window which was the best spot. I felt like there was a dog parade. I saw at least 8 different breeds all going out on their morning walk. What a nice pick me up in the middle of emails! The caramel iced latte was very good and the bagel bomb was inspirational! Probably going to make bagels this weekend! read more

Aesthetically pleasing, regular coffee - Grit Coffee just opened up their Scott's location back in May inside of the new apartment complex, Otis. The menu offers a variety of drink choices ranging from coffee, tea, matcha, chai lattes to pretty espresso shots, and what not. You're also able to get canned drinks, 6-packs of coffee, and some limited food options! For today's visit I got the Iced Blackberry Mocha and substituted regular milk for almond milk. The blackberry syrup compliments the coffee without being too overpowering -- a bit sweet for my taste, but not "sugary tasting". About a third of the drinks come in two sizes. There is plenty of indoor seating in which a handful of customers were working on their laptops or reading a book. There are plenty of "Instagramable" areas inside too + a shopping nook consisting of tee shirts, reusable straws, and more. There is no outside seating. There was only one employee working at the time, but he was very friendly and engaging! The prices were on par with Blanchard's or Rostology. read more

Great coffee shop with lots of seating and good work environment! I love both Grit coffee shops in RVA, but if you're looking for the better study spot, I'd recommend Scott's Addition! Their special Iced matcha latte w/ peppermint is delicious- one of the best I've ever had! One slight drawback is that it is pricier than I'm used to, this drink with oat milk was like $8 lol, but it did taste like a treat. Overall definitely would recommend trying this place out! I really like grabbing coffee at Grit whether in Charlottesville, Westhampton or Scott's. This is the best place to grab a flavored latte, they do it so well. Their pumpkin spice latte is the best! First time visiting this location and I enjoyed it! Friendly staff members and quick service. The shop gets a pretty good crowd on Sundays. Good location to get work done, read, catch up with friends, etc. I tried a drink off of their winter drinks menu!
