Barney is a super hero. I had my entire lawn replaced on a Friday before a holiday weekend. The guys that installed the new sod damaged my sprinkler system the day before tilling my yard. I needed get my sprinkler system working as watering a new lawn is essential. Barney was originally coming to service my sprinkler system the following week. I called Barney on Friday morning and explained my emergency. Even though Barney would be in South Austin till 5:00 PM working other jobs and would have to drive over an hour through Friday rush hour traffic to get to me, Barney agreed to help me in my time of need. Barney replaced the entire drip lines that had over a dozen damages and are in three sections between the sidewalk and the street. A sprinkler line was cut that Barney repaired. Barney repaired electrical wires that were cut in my back yard taking out two sprinkler zones. Barney also replaced a sprinkler popup head that was totally destroyed. Barney never complained, is very pleasant to talk to and provides expert advice. Barney worked very efficiently and quickly and his rates are very, very fair. Barney did not charge me extra for having to come after normal business hours at the end of the day on a Friday before a holiday weekend. I'm going back to update my review after a recent review of the work I requested. When I started working with Barney I asked him to adjust my sprinklers in the front and back to make sure they overlapped and covered all the grass. He also installed some sprinklers for me. Today I went out to check all of his work because I noticed a number or spots that are dry. I spent $500 with this guy and found a lot of mistakes. I now need to hire someone else to fix what he did. He even switched a 360 sprinkler head with a 180 head on the street and then completely shut off the sprinkler head. He must be new to this, and I'm disappointed I paid him so much, especially since I have to have someone else redo the work I paid him to do. Disappointing. I'm giving him two stars and not one because he was responsive and timely. Just wish I didn't have to pay someone else to fix the sprinkler head adjustments I paid him for. read more

My wife and I decided it was time to get a sprinkler system installed in our front and back yard as our lawn is horrible and one of the driveway slabs has been shifting. As with any project of this size we started calling and emailing around to get quotes. A good majority of the contractors in the area either never returned our calls, played back and forth phone tag or said they only did sprinkler repairs, not new installs. This is where Barney from ABL comes in. He promptly called back and we had him come out to give us an estimate. He spent a good hour taking measurements asking us what kind of zone coverage we wanted and even tested our water pressure. As a former firefighter who understands the importance of water pressure, I was beyond impressed with his attention to detail. Barney got back to us within a day or so with a formal estimate and statement of work. He pulled permits, coordinated the Dig Safe calls, HOA approval, inspection etc. He does everything by the book and that gives you peace of mind when you're going to have your yard torn up. He explained what he was going to do and throughout the entire build process communicated everything to us. We had some pretty bad weather days that caused a few delays and he still made sure to let us know where things were. In the end we now have a great sprinkler system installed and he has a customer for life. We a are going to have him re-sod our lawn and do some other landscaping jobs for us as well. I rarely take the time to review someone unless their service absolutely surpasses my expectation. Barney's attention to detail, his communication process, his honesty and quality of work warrant such a review. Of course all of that came at a very reasonable service cost and well within budget. My sprinklers were only turning on part way for one station. And it wasn't a leak, and it wasn't the manual turn on valve. Barney figured out it was the pressure reducer value I had installed, and was able to adjust it so that I have no problem at all now.
