The crabs were very good and my wife enjoyed the shrimp, and the sides were as you'd expect. The cream of crab soup was a bit gelatinous by the time we got to eating it but it was still tasty and overall the food was good. My Lovies and I went to have dinner around 8PM. I tried calling before we went no answer. Get to the restaurant and I wanted to order crabs. I walked in and there was a employee enjoying a tray of crabs. When being seated the hostess informed us they weren't serving anymore crabs tonight. This place is definitely lower rated. We stopped by after visiting the water park. A little bit cold inside, so we take the outside seat. So beautiful view - you can see people kayaking and fishing just in front of you. We ordered one and a half dozens of mixed male blue crabs, and some beer, while enjoying the sunshine and breeze. I recently had the experience to dine at Abner's Crab House. I was immediately seated, and a staffer placed a sheet of brown paper on the table. An Abner's Crab House menu was provided. I requested their sweet tea. Shortly afterwards, I ordered my dinner: house salad, fried flounder, and potato salad. First, our waitress Shay was great! She was very sweet & social with our party. I ordered grilled chicken & fries. It took almost 2 hours to get our food. The chicken was so salty that I took one bite & couldn't do anymore. The fries were beyond oily & not edible at all. Out of 10 ppl, 6 had an issue. The good: 1. All you can eat crab for 25 bucks/person on Wednesdays and Sundays. Other days? 30 bucks I think. No clue how they choose those two days to have the discounted price. Talk about random. 2. Pitcher of crap beer: 9 bucks. Individual glass is 2-2.50. 3. The crab is GOOD. Super salty seasoning but great flavor. Highly recommend it. 4. Very chill vibe. So here we are on a Sunday evening and this was our first time eating at this crab shack. It is located across the street from a mini up & coming townhouse complex and also on the water. They have inside and outside dining. Once inside, it was about a 30 minute wait. As I took in the appearance on the inside, it was dirty and resembled a soup kitchen I once volunteered for. However, the voices in my head suggested this was "character"... similar to a Texas Roadhouse where we're allowed to throw peanut shells on the floor--we know it's unsanitary, but we just accept it. Also, Instead of wiping the tables, they cut sheets of brown paper--again "character". So I won't hold the dirty floors and counters against them, we'll just assume it's done on purpose. Our server's name was Jenna and she was very nice, courteous and even listened to our four year old daughter as she promptly ordered shrimp (the only seafood she could think of). We also ordered the cream of crab soup, dozen crab and oyster sandwich. Our order came out in good time and was accurate. The food was excellent. The soup was very tastey but I felt it was slightly grainy vs creamy. The oyster sandwich was really just fried oysters crammed into a bun... not the most creative rendition but my wife ate it just the same. The crab was steamed and seasoned perfectly and the popcorn shrimp was average. Overall, food was very well prepared, nothing extremely great, but very good. The server got tied up towards the middle of service though, perhaps she was helping out a new co-worker, or providing mentorship to her team but after 20 of eating and 17 mins additional mins of waiting for the check , I chased her down with my credit card in hand and managed to force them to accept my money anyway. From a prior server; here's your tip: if your customer is holding his credit card and waiting for you, deliver his check ASAP as tipping wages begin to diminish as sit, staring at our own food scraps. read more

BEWARE....I have sent multiple people to this restaurant, spent thousands of dollars and today I felt like I experienced racism for the first time since moving here. If it wasnt racism, she just doesn't like woman, maybe a bit of jealousy?! My husband and I walked in just for crabs to go as we usually do, however, sometimes we order from the bar and wait. I walked in with my smoothie, sat down at bar and first thing KELLY the bartender said "You have to throw that away", No hello or how can I help you?. I told her ok and as I'm moving to get up she said, "NOW"! I asked her why she was speaking to me in that tone, that I was moving, we only sat at the bar to buy crabs", as I was getting up. She then tells me in a rude tone "I am not intimidated by your type"! I was shocked and appalled. What the h%% does that mean?? I pray they have cameras because my body language says it all, still never changed. I asked her why does she think I'm trying to intimidate her and my type????? My tone never changed, my body language never changed, I am literally getting up and following her orders. My husband trys to step in at that point because he is just as confused and uncomfortable as I am. He tells me to come on because he saw the racism at this point. Then she yells for "Mud" behind us to leave. "Mud" seems to be the security. He actually looks use to her shenanigans. If your not intimadated why are you calling on security? I tell Mud he does not need to get up, we are leaving and never spending another dime in this establishment. If I was so intimidating and aggressive wouldnt MUD escort me out? He was sitting right behind us. Instead he kept on with his lifeee. At no point was I aggressive, but of course because of the color of my skin any confrontation or conversation that doesnt go the way they want, we are aggressive. The manager proceeds to tell me no drinks are allowed. Smh, so now that I mention it was a smoothie, now no drinks are allowed (water, soda etc.). What a joke! Then she interrupts me to ask if I was the one to call earlier asking for Kelly name? Mmmmm NO, but why is that important to this issue????? That question really stamped that I will not get any resolution with Michelle (Supervisor), for all we know that is her Aunt. I have never been treated this way at any establishment because I show respect to anyone who show respect back. She thought by being rude, childish and obnoxious, calling on "Mud" to put me out (eventhough she claim she wasnt intimidated (lol) but clearly she was) was going to fly.....NOPE! Went in with a bunch of guys after a charter boat trip. We were all very hungry but unfortunately we never got to eat. We waited for 50 minutes and was so tired of waiting we paid for our drinks and left. I understand that there was a large group ahead of us(even though we ordered before them) but there was no communication from our server Justin as to what was going on with our food. Likewise there wasn't a manager in sight to give us an update. Another table even noticed that we had been sitting awhile without any service. Being in the business I understand places get hit with large groups, but there has to be some sort of acknowledgement from staff. This is a really cool place. Been coming here for years and for the first time I have experienced bad customer service from the bar. I ordered a orange crush and it was not good and I took it back to the bar and told the bartender who was a female with short hair and tattoos that it did not taste good. She stated that it because they were out of oranges. I asked could you make me something else and she said no because you can't return drinks. I siad that the drink taste bad and you didn't let me know you were out of oranges. I asked for the manager and she stated that she was the manager. Pretty much told me I'm stuck with the horrible drink she made. No customer skills at all. I ended up asking the male bartender and he kindly gave me something else. Decided to visit my summer office (i.e. Packed up my laptop and worked from the beach) and lunch time was upon me! Crabs and beer! Truth- I work better from the beach. It's quiet and, as my work is creative, I can dig in uninterrupted. So this is a normal occurrence for me but Abners was a new addition to my routine. It was pretty empty since it was the middle of the day. We walked in, my other beach office regulars and I, and stood there. Lol no hostess/greeter and two guys (one a server and the other seemed to be his manager) just walked past us without greeting or other acknowledgement. As I started to suggest we walk back out, a lovely young lady (Tara or Taya, I think) greeted us while checking out her table and offered to seat us. She also was our server. We sat outside and watched the boats come in while eating a few dozen male mixed hard crabs. DELICIOUS! We all work for different companies and didn't actually know each other so the atmosphere was a great backdrop for conversation. The crabs were sweet, hot and heavy, even the smalls, and the drinks were ice cold. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating to our group so I'd return but may have to ready myself to yell, upon entering, "Anybody working this hostess sitch" before seating myself. read more

It is not what it used to be. I went this past weekend and it could hardly be called a crab house. Most of the tables have been replaced with slot machines. Food is clearly an after thought. Twice I got up from the table and the gambling guests tried to help themselves to the food on my table. Even the staff came to warn me not to leave the table. Where do these people come from. It is a third rate gambling house that used to be a crab house. What a shame, the parking lot was packed but only two tables were used to seat diners on a Saturday. The front desk was quite unorganized upon asking for a table. Once seated the server was pleasant but for some reason we failed to get our appetizer of wings even after 40min of being there. I went back to hostess and asked her if I could switch to the booth beside her and she rudely turned her head to another employee and after a pause she said "no." A cafeteria dining experience on a small water inlet and hoping for good food. I also knew what I wouldn't get, 5 star service. However, is hoping for 2 star service and food too much to ask for?... What you will get... A cold hostess, Terrible service and overpriced food that taste sub par. I'm a firm believer in the 3 strikes you're out rule.
