The onlyyyyy reason Crab Shack cannot get 5 stars is because I can't find the logical reason as to why I have to get up to order my food. For the amount of money that a party could spend on crabs, drinks, you name it, I think it is highly inappropriate for a server to not be attentive to the table as a whole - just not when they are dropping and leaving items at the table. A $100+ priced table I'm talking about. But aside from that, the food itself was delicious. Their calamari might be one of the best I've had in the state. Their grilled wings were delicious too, actually giving that named grilled flavor. 5 stars would've been great, but... come to my table to get your 5 stars. I would also think, that if someone is not coming to my table and ultimately looking for a tip to leave with, if there is nothing to tip for... Didn't know what to expect as I've been to the Crab Shack location in Edgewater that were a mess and rude... this location was great. Very clean. Very friendly bartender. Quick service. Good spot. Would return for sure. I went for happy hour and got the grilled wings ($7), steamed shrimp ($8) and garlic mussels ($9). All very good. Shrimp are shrimp but were a good size. Mussels were all fresh and tender (no dead mussels) and the wings were great. Several regulars at the bar who were also friendly and had good banter with each other and the bartender. Total surprise. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff. This was definitely different from what I'm used to at any restaurant but your girl was hungry and didn't care at that moment. As soon as you walked in you can grab any seat available. Interesting isn't it? Well it gets better! After I carefully analyze each and every dish possibly offered I got up to walk to the register to place my food order. Yup! You heard me I had to get up ;). Interestingly there's a separate register for the bar and my favorite drink was offered! Coconut mojitos! My drinks were paid for and made to order immediately after paying. Once we sat down it was a 15 min wait for the food. This place has become a staple in my household. We love going to the Crofton location. We are regulars , the staff is so pleasant and it's just a great place to relax, eat and chill. Overpriced below average seafood with barebones portions. Seafood boil has almost no flavor and is basically just butter and all of the snow crab clusters have barely any meat. We paid $134 total (plus calamari and wings which were good), and honestly this didn't seem like it was worth it. We ordered 1 snow crab cluster and barely even ended up with a handful of meat, and they did give us another one because we asked but it was the same thing. I just had a horrible experience at the Crabshack in Crofton Maryland. I purchased crabs on the July 4 weekend, which was only my second time there the first time the crabs were delicious this time however, the crabs smelled and taste like ammonia much to my surprise. I called told the person on the phone who then said she could do a replacement, but I must have my receipt so I returned Saturday today, one week from the fourth. I told the very nice lady at the bar the issue with the crabs she said she would get the manager . The manager walked out and said to me, ma'am, can you step over here, not even a hello to me. I then very politely stated the issue with the crabs smelling like ammonia. She said my receipt was from last weekend. I said yes had to work, and could only come the following weekend and I drove a great distance to get here. She said who did you speak with? I said I spoke with a lady, but I can't remember her name. I regret not writing her name down. The manager then said no we cannot replace the crabs for you because you can't remember who you spoke with and because it is the following weekend, she said it very rude and smug, as if I had done something to her I was so surprised at her demeanor and was wondering, why was she talking so loud to me. There were only a few people in there, and of course you could feel the eyes watching. She then said she knows of the ammonia smell, and that is normal because crabs are bottom feeders. I kind of thought that was an odd response because I have eaten crabs all of my life. I love them. Now if the ammonia smell and taste is normal crab businesses would Not be in business. I did not say that to her, but that's what I was thinking. I then asked who was in charge over her, she replied I am the manager I am in charge. I said no who is over you, she said the general manager. I said to her I paid a lot of money for those crabs and will be filing a complaint she said to me OK OK! again very smug and loud. I couldn't believe and understand why she was so loud and dismissive she just looked at me so I proceeded to ask for the general manager's name which she gave to me and then said she's just going to tell you the same thing I just told you. Because she continued to be ugly towards me. I asked if there was a Corporate office number or the owners of the crabshack. She said to me there is no Corporate office and the owners information is private so that's it! and she looked at me again she's just staring at me, no apology, no I'm sorry for your experience. Upon asking for the general manager's name she said she would let the general manager know I will be calling her. I proceeded to say thank you, (why am I thanking her) and as I was saying, thank you she turns and walks away from me, now that's a bit much. As I'm writing this review, I am still in shock and it's been some hours later. Shame on The Crabshack and their poor customer service. I thought I had a great new place to go and eat crabs. I just had a horrible experience at the Crab Shack in Crofton, MD. The manager was so rude to me and not apologetic at all. The backstory is I drive a distance and purchased crabs there for a second time on 4 July weekend. The first crabs I bought a month prior were excellent, this time the crabs smelled and tasted like ammonia so I stopped eating them to prevent from getting sick. You can state your policy, but you don't have to be rude and loud in doing so. There were only a few people in there, but you could feel the quiet and the eyes on us. In giving me the GMs name upon request, as I was saying thank you she turns and walks away very smug. I'm so disappointed I was raving about there crabs from my first visit to everyone but won't anymore. Sad. The Manager said the crabs sometimes smell like ammonia. Despite my past review, my friend and I still went on Fridays for their oyster deal, however, with lower expectations. It was all fine until recently--They no longer allow you to 1) open tabs and 2) YOU must go up and order food/drinks from TWO separate counters. It used to be that you were able to order food and drinks together at the drink counter and keep a tab open. You just had to go up to the counter to order. That was a little annoying, but fine. I'm sorry, but I do not want to leave one restaurant with 4+ different receipts because I had to go up and place my order in separate pieces when I want a few rounds of items. It's an inconvenience and completely unnecessary for a restaurant, in my opinion. I do not know why these recently became a thing, but they are annoying enough for us to not return. Showed up in time for their Happy Hour specials and was not disappointed. I got the steamed shrimp, wings, and crab pretzel. I did get a side oh hush puppies, not on the HH menu but they were HH prices. I didn't get a drink but the friends that I was with raved about how good they were. The bar was full when we got there; however, the crowd increased as time went on. Everyone was extremely friendly and the waitresses were down to earth. This was our first time visiting the Crab Shack Crofton, after driving by for years. Excited, we entered to an almost empty restaurant with the exception of the patrons at the bar. There was no hostess and a sign for us to seat ourselves so we did, glanced at the menu & placed our orders. Side note: The inside of this facility is HUGE with outdoor seating and a private dining area as well. I ordered the crab & lobster melt, with French fries. The wife ordered the 8oz crab cake entree. We placed our orders at 5:10pm, our son's order arrived at: 5:20pm, mine at 5:22pm, and my Wife's crab cake came out at 5:24pm. The lobster/crab melt was good, but it wasn't special. It was one of those meals that I wouldn't mind having again, but would probably never go out of my way to order it again, if that makes sense. The crab cake was really good & it had nice jumbo lump crab meat & not a lot of filler. We both didn't enjoy the potato salad, so I took a point away for that & the lack of outstanding service. You order then get a table number which makes it easy i suppose. The calamari was 3/5 it was not crispy enough. The crab cake sandwich was 4/5 high rating mainly because of the size and actual crab meat no filler. But it needed to be seasoned a little more. The whiting is strips and was amazing 5/5. I ordered a seafood boil bag with shrimp, scallops, 1crab leg cluster. They forgot my shrimp had to go up to get them to bring it. They brought it in a container without any seasoning. So had to throw it in my bag but the seasoning didn't really get into it because it was tossed in way later so it was bland. But the corn on the cob and potatoes and the seafood that actually came was amazing 10/10 the Cajun butter mild was tasty. It wasn't too crowded. It was clean and overall nice place. The crab shack was a vibe I was not expecting. Most times, the patrons I encounter are regulars. In fact, by now, I'm probably a regular. Everyone is usually pretty friendly and open to conversation. I usually order the catfish sandwich, which is pretty good for the price. However, today I opted for the crabs. I ordered their last swamp dog. It was huge and pretty meaty. My husband enjoyed about half a dozen of the jumbos. The crabmeat tasted well prepared and seasoned and not watery. Also, when it comes to drinking at the bar if your bartender is Kristen or Ashley, you will be in good hands. Group Happy Hour on a Thursday evening at 5:30. It is a casual eatery with lots of seating. It has good parking and that evening was great because it was not crowded. I order at the front and the food was delivered to my table. I ordered Steamed Shrimp and Buffalo Wings. The fries and drink were my neighbors. Everything tasted fresh and was well-seasoned. The Buffalo wings were extra spicy to me but so good! I like to think I can eat spicy but I really can't. I had a Cadillac Margarita and it was strong and good!(Yeah me!) I have to take the time to give appreciation to one of my favorite spots to visit with my family. The Crab shack never disappoints me and my wife came here just for a nightcap, and we found out that they have Maryland crab even in the off-season. I wasn't sure of these were Louisiana crabs or actual Maryland crabs but they were delicious. Kristen was our bartender and server and she made sure we have everything we needed to have a relaxing night. I love an old fashioned drink but Kristen turned me on to the gold rush which was Quite similar. Me and my wife enjoyed the swamp dogs and jumbo crabs. Open floor plan with basic seating-- wooden tables, wooden chairs, well lit, and several mounted tvs for customers to enjoy while dining. Was immediately greeted and welcomed upon entering by who I later identified as a manager. He was very knowledgeable and patient as I dissected the menu and placed my takeout order. No frills here- if you are eating in, head to the register, place your order and pick a seat. I placed a to-go order and sat comfortably enjoying the aroma of fresh cooked food while waiting. The place had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress met us at the door promptly and instructed us to seat wherever we'd like. We went to counter, where the team decided who "was going to get their money" so others can stop complaining about not getting orders. They were not sure if the sausage would come whole or cut. The crab was not very spicy and the liquid seemed a little too clear to be flavorful, but I was pleasantly surprised, but it did get cold pretty quick so you have to move fast. Maybe they could split the bags into one pound bags so your food stays hotter longer. We had to ask for a bucket, crackers, bibs, and gloves. These items should have been provided in the beginning without asking. I was also confused with pricing. It's seems like the boil crab is priced $8 more than the non-boil price and not sure there is a $8 difference. read more

All the employees were very friendly and helpful as it was our first time here. I ordered the 5oz Crab Cake Sandwich ($23) which was really good. It also comes with tartar sauce and was a perfect combo as this was my first time trying the crab cake. They also have a $8oz option for this sandwich. I was very happy with the food and service I received from the Crab Shack in Crofton. What I really loved about it is the freshness of the food. Plus, the Crab Shack's customer service is spot on. I felt welcomed by their team. Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. Food is pretty good, some Southern classics and some twists, and for their prices it's 100% worth it. We had the catfish sandwich with fries and The catfish combo meal with fries and coleslaw. We also got some complementary hush puppies down in the deal. The catfish is fresh crisp very flavorful. Very simple batter makes it very southern, appears to be a corn meal mix with some special spices. The fries are just like those you'd find in Ocean City at that place that begins with a T. The coleslaw was fair, not a lot of flavor but still better than most places around. All in all the food is delicious, a very eclectic menu, I can't wait to come back. There was no real sign or server to explain what to do. We walked in, it was busy another customer explained we could sit wherever but we have to go up to order our food. So one area for ordering food and another for ordering drinks. They don't sell wine by the bottle which makes to quite annoying to continuously go back up and stand in a line for another beverage. The food in my opinion is overpriced, but I guess that's how most things are these days. It's OK! Nothing fancy about this spot. You walk in someone greets you and tells you that you can sit wherever you'd like, it's open seating at picnic tables. You have the option to order and pay at your table or go to the register and order and get a number and someone will bring your food out to your table. They have a soda cooler in the far corner of the restaurant for you to get your drinks and also fountain drinks as well. THE FOOD: We had a Shrimp Po'Boy, crab balls cream of crab soup and wings with fries. Everything was great. The service was great, customer service was pleasant and helpful and friendly. They're expected to have alcohol in the future so that will be a plus. I hope that in the future that will consider changing the order process because it's a bit muddled. read more

My boyfriend and I have been trying to dine in for happy hour w/ this place for months, but because they didn't have their liq license for half a year, we settled for take out most visits. Each time i get the crabs. So far i have had the crabs 5 times - with high hopes each times. The first 2 times the crabs weren't the best, the next two the crabs were actually pretty good; today they were OK. I have high hopes for the next visit!! My boyfriend got the jambalaya which he thought was fine. Previous times he got catfish basket.. which was also fine. I will visit again, hopefully my crabs are great like they were a few times back.
