I just regret we had already eaten and were just popping in for a quick coffee perk to go. We will definitely be back. If I'm gonna be brokenhearted that the space no longer houses my favorite little indoor farmers market, then this is the type of new tenant that makes me a little less sad & bitter about it! The service was friendly and really fast, we loved that it was busy and they had plenty of employees to take care of customers. Unfortunately they didn't have a dark roast drip but the medium roast we got was good. Also their selection of tchotchkes, postcards and local souvenir/memorabilia was a real standout... for two people who typically don't buy that sort of thing , other selections were clever, fun/ny, and attractive . Both of us determined next time we're back in town The Bakist will definitely be the place to pick up local/Chesapeake Bay souvenirs (as well as coffee and baked goods!)

It is the only grocery store within about a 10 mile radius and because of that their prices are quite a bit higher than the average grocery store. They have a nice hot bar where you can get fried chicken most any day and especially during the lent season they fry up haddock on Fridays! That said, the quality of the food is not consistent yesterday 5pm, I went to pick up fried haddock for my family and they had no hot sides! Usually there's mac & cheese, string beans, kale, potato wedges or the lake but this time the only offering was coleslaw, potoator salad or pasta salad Which looked as though they've been sitting there for several days!!!! They sell a lot of small portion meats, fruits, vegetables, and frozen items that are great for the area as there's a lot of single and senior people who reside there and its easy to get to. All and all if you need something quick, you can run in and run out, but if you're looking for premade hot food, you may want to think about going elsewhere. Store is always clean and things are generally in stock with a few specials. Rolands could do better by paying more for a kitchen manager and revising their overall prices.

Although the wraparound porch looked beautiful, we decided to sit inside. Our server, Jay, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the meal. The service was outstanding, and our food arrived quickly. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. We ordered cheeseburger sliders, buffalo chicken sliders, southern chicken sliders, and chicken tenders from the kids' menu. Every slider was a 10/10, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. What really made the evening special was the thoughtful birthday surprise. When we declined dessert because we had birthday cake waiting at home, Jay brought out a small scoop of ice cream with a candle for the birthday boy, along with a scoop for each of his siblings. It was such a kind gesture and made our son feel celebrated. The location is great, parking was easy, and it's just a few blocks from the water. After dinner, we enjoyed a walk down to the pier, which was the perfect way to end the evening. We will definitely be back, and next time I'd love to sit out on that beautiful porch! Highly recommend.

We were seated immediately. For starters we ordered 2 crab dips, 2 orders of fried green tomatoes, & 2 orders of crispy wings (Old Bay). Our non-alcoholic beverages included Pepsi products (no Coca-Cola ), ginger ale but no ginger beer. All of the appetizers were on point with flavor & texture. Also the Old Bay chicken wings were not as salty as other places serve them. I ordered the crab cake sandwich & onion rings. I had to box my crab cake because the small plates filled me up. I heated it in a pan later with a little olive oil spray and it was good. Our generous shipmate took care of thei bill so I'm not sure if splitting was an option. This was my first visit but definitely not my last. I enjoyed the relaxed vibes and proximity to the resort & dock.

Great First Visit to Sunderland's New BBQ Spot…read more We heard about the new BBQ restaurant in Sunderland (Calvert County) on Facebook Friday, but we were out of town for the weekend. On our way home Sunday, my wife and I decided to stop in and give it a try. I had seen posts online saying people were waiting in line, so we were curious. When we pulled up, there wasn't a line outside, but once inside, there were a few people ahead of us ordering and some waiting on their food. While we waited, we overheard them call out that they were out of "The Hardesty" - a buttermilk fried pork chop sandwich. It must be popular because it sounded really good! The menu is impressive for a new place--11 sandwich options including: Ole Boy - Pulled pork shoulder Bossman - Chopped brisket (what I ordered) Balmer - Sliced charred beef with Vidalia onions & horseradish cream Dixie Chick - Pulled chicken Hardesty - Buttermilk fried pork chop on artisan white bread with sriracha mayo Bourdain - Grilled mortadella with provolone & dijonaise on brioche Italian Stallion - Salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, cherry peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, vinaigrette South Philly - Sliced ribeye with sautéed onions & provolone Chi Town - Braised ribeye with peppers, mushrooms, onions, provolone, sweet jalapeños, lettuce, tomato & vinaigrette Wrap & Roll - Crispy chicken Caesar wrap SBF Wings - Plain, mild, or hot Sides included boardwalk fries, potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans, coleslaw, kale, and a cucumber salad. My wife ordered the Italian Stallion and I went with the Bossman, plus a side of summer pasta salad to go. While we waited, we chatted with a woman putting out some condiments --turns out she was a family member and grabbing food. She mentioned everything is made to order and how proud they are of the quality. We didn't wait long for our food, although another woman we were talking with had ordered quite a bit earlier and was still waiting. Right before we left, someone announced they only had two orders of boardwalk fries left--they're definitely getting hit with a lot of traffic and selling out fast. A couple notes: it seemed like some sandwiches may have been pre-prepped because on ours the Bossman was marked with abbreviations on the wrapping. Also, my wife had asked for vinaigrette on the side for her sub, but it was already on it--not a big deal, just something for the staff to tighten up as they settle in. There are a few tables inside that you can dine in and eat if you choose. Dont know if they offer sit down service. As for the food: My Bossman sandwich was excellent--tender, flavorful brisket. The pasta salad wasn't my favorite and wasn't very cold when we got home, so I put it in the fridge--hoping I'll enjoy it more chilled. My wife really liked her Italian Stallion--lots of meat and great flavor. Overall, we were impressed. Definitely Outstanding above another mobile BBQ spot in the area. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, I hope to try that Hardesty sandwich before it sells out!
