All things were good, maybe even great... until proven otherwise! All service standards fall on leadership! In this case it is clearly ownership. My wife and I had bought some veryy beautiful goat hide, high craftsmanship chairs from this place. After 2 months ofhaving them, one of them broke while moving it from one place in the house to another, because we enjoy the chairs look and feel we committed to buying another, even though we would need to travel 2.5 hours to pick it up. We love Half Mokn Bay, so we were going to make a weekend of it. Long story short, we ordered, paid and let the store know we will come down this past weekend to pick it up. All was going well, until we showed up to pick up the chair we already paid for.... The staff was clueless to the purchase, after 3 staff got involved nor knowing anything about the chair or purchase, they called the owner who deflected to the customer (my wife) having not communicated with the owner. We ended up canceling the order due to the horrible approach the owner showcased. Blaming the customer, my wife, and making it as though she was in the wrong, we will find the artist elsewhere, I am sure of it, and we will surely skip Abode next time we are in town. Sad but true. I much prefer positive reviews, but also look out for my fellow consumers of good, quality customer service and kindness. So unfortunate, it is such a cute store! Proven otherwise! H read more

In love with the store! Had a wonderful time starting my Christmas shopping and found a gift for a friend. Staff was sooo nice. Store was P R E T T Y. Vibe's really awesome-- it is relaxing and very inviting. I told the ladies the store reminds me the stores in Wailea, Maui. This new home store really caught my eye. It was so well curated with "earthy" items that the owner, I was told, personally selected. The pillows were made from recycled cloth, the artwork was unique and well priced, plenty of unique houseware and table ware items to choose. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. It made my day to find a store that had items with a mix of Europeans hardwares imported for the customers. Furniture was well edited and the owner has a great eye. The retail items are a mixture of eclectic, raw, warm textures made of sustainable or recycled materials. Great job and presentation. I went to Abode2 which is the sister store to Abode (Home goods and accessories). Love it. Jewelry and pieces so nicely displayed. The staff is friendly and open to you trying on pieces. I zeroed in on 2 triangle bangle bracelets. They are perfect to wear casual or dressy. This is must place to visit if you are interested in unique jewelry etc. I will return in 2023! read more

"Oh my God where did you get this!?!?". That is the unintended response you get from friends/family when you shop at this store. There is a mix of different decorating styles but all share the common color palette of natural colors and tones. Rustic: farmhouse tables, tea light candle holders made from large pieces of wood, bowls and plates made from wood Coastal: shadow boxes filled with dried sea plants and sea shells, drift wood made into a planter for succulents, jewelry Vintage: re-purposed ceiling tiles, furniture, hand made metal wall art, re-purposed frames made into chalk boards Antique: frames, pictures, and furniture Style comes at a price, literally. As a rough guide, if the item doesn't fit on top of a table then you will easily enter the triple digit zone. The woman that owns this store is so sweet, very helpful, and most of all, friendly. I don't know how many times I've come across stores that are higher end where the owners or staff are unfriendly. This is a store much like Anthropologie with really beautiful, wonderfully curated pieces. They have furniture, kitchenware, candles, jewelry, lamps and overall decor. I left the store with a steal of a deal on a beautiful ceramic cookie/grain jar (which sounds really weird), with lovely floral/coral type sculptures on top. I'm definitely coming back to buy more pieces for my home! I love supporting local businesses when I can! read more

Home furnishings, decor, and art that are unique and classy. Very high quality stuff. Awesome furniture - I am currently lusting after the cool cowhide chairs in their display windows! Well, those and the wooden mushroom carvings (see photo I posted) and multi-panel branch-pattern wall art, and sturdy wooden dining table....yeah. When I win the lottery, I'm buying everything in Abode and totally redoing my house. Service is always super friendly and never pushy. Pure class. That is the best way to describe this store. My lady friend and I saw a lovely set of cups in the window and we bought them. This establishment is supposed to be a "home decor" store, but I think it has more of a ceramics studio feel. The woman at the register mentioned to me that they do have two in house ceramic artists. I don't know a whole lot about ceramics so I'm not sure if these people are famous or not. If you want something along the lines of Restoration Hardware with a by the ocean feel, this is the place you want to go to. read more

Abode reminded me of several furnishings stores that are popping up all over in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Willow Glenn, Campbell. The idea is to combine contemporary with vintage by using reclaimed materials. You can see a coffee table made out of old wooden door with use of metal. There are unexpected combinations of old and new that look like props or even artwork, but usable as furniture. Very cool display of ideas and interesting space to walk through. The price point, although high, is still more reasonable than similar pieces offered at Restoration Hardware and other chain stores. read more

They are moving soon to across the street. There is a sale going on right now on everything. They carry rustic, weathered-looking furniture pieces I wish we had the money for right now! My SIL got a nice big wooden hanging decorative sign for $28, originally was $35. I got a nice glazed earthen vase for $21 marked down from $28. The earthen ware they have are all on sale and very vibrant. Hand-painted. Lots of pieces, I wish I could have bought the tea pot, mugs, fruit bowl, etc. Sales bring out the best in us, don't they?? read more

Working directly with Rachel (the owner), we bought a few pieces of furniture from this store because we loved the style and wanted to support a local business. Within six months of receiving the furniture, splotches started to appear on the sectional that we bought. The fabric was clearly defective. This was not one splotch, the whole couch was covered in splotches. We brought our complaint to Rachel, who initially tried to deflect the problem to something that we did and then finally agreed to call the manufacturer. That was more than two years ago. We are still waiting for that call back from Rachel. Some advice for Rachel: Customer service doesn't end after the sale and you should be accountable for your manufacturers. Otherwise, there is no point buying from your shop. We will never buy from Abode again and we will discourage others from doing so as well. read more

I'm a design professional and have never ordered custom furniture from Abode but I love their eye and have picked up many home accessories. The inventory is always fresh, well placed, and the staff professional and kind. When I admire a design, they show me the book of the vendor, never threatened to share sources. This is really the only source in downtown HMB for beautiful home decor. Blankets, baskets, distressed tables and chairs, you name it. I often just wander in to feel good. And always do! read more

We walked in today while exploring half moon bay and stumbled across this amazing piece of furniture which had been marked down 4 times (we would have paid the original price, it is wonderful). We were amazed by the quality and affordability of abode. By affordability, I don't mean cheap, I mean fair pricing and you get what you pay for. If you want cheap, go to ikea. Abode carries quality build products but they aren't over priced, you pay what they're worth. We got extremely lucky as the owner was making room for more inventory and marked the side board we got over $1000 down. So we didn't hesitate to buy. The items run the spectrum...modern, rustic, beachy, classic, classy, fun and everything in between. I especially LOVE their pillows and blankets from David Fussenegger, a designer in Austria...I think I have at least 5 of these blankets! I read the awesome reviews of the furniture company Abode at half moon bay. My experience is the opposite.I bought a bed to be shipped outside California in the middle of August 2010. First they said that they will call as soon as they find a shipping company.6 weeks were gone , no calls regarding the situation. When I called them after 6 weeks, they said they have not found a shipping company. 2 weeks gone , finally after making a lot of unsuccessful phone calls finally they said they found somebody to ship the bed. After waiting for 10 more days ,(to make the long story short),we got a call from the shipping company and they brought the bed.You may think the problem is solved. NOOOO. when they tried to fix the bed in the bed room they realized they did not have all the screws they needed. They tried to get it in the local hardware store but in vain.The reason was that the screw dimensions were according to metric system.We are stuck with a bed which we can not use , in a bed room where we can not replace with the old bed.No bed to sleep on ,noway to move it out. Can anybody help me what to do next? I can not dump it because it is very REASONABLY expensive. read more

It stocks every thing for the home, from bedroom. living room, home office and entertainment to baby too. There is a wide range of cool furniture to suit most tastes. It is a one off, boutique type shop, and they carry some well known lines like Lee Industries and Environment Furniture along with artisan pieces not available everywhere and vintage pieces that are hip and environmentally sound. This is also a great place for gifts too with a ton of well priced smaller items like designer jewelery, votivo candles, french soaps and fun martini glasses.
