Only come here if you want the rudest customer service. Came here after breakfast, we were staying in half moon bay for the weekend, and walked past this cute shop. I suggested we go inside because it looks super cute from the outside! They had a cute selection of stones, jewelry, and little trinkets. When my mom was finally asking about little trinkets to purchase for my daughter, the owner was super rude to her for no type of reason. Then, when she went to checkout, my mom mentioned that my daughter's favorite color is pink. The lady followed up berating my mom saying "I hate that. The parents are the ones that say pink is for girls and force that onto the children, that's terrible!" It was superrrr awkward and uncomfortable, it was like she was shaming me and my mom for my daughter's favorite color?? It's November, and a (not) young man's thoughts turn toward "what the hell do I get my wife for the holidays this year?" Hence, my annual trip to HMB boutiques and other stores, looking for near stuff. That always requires a stop at Tokenz. I went with Blondie, which was useful. I focused on the clothing, as always. Their entire inventory is on the floor, so I could see whether any small sizes were available The Wife. The answer this year was, not too much. A light robe that I really liked was only available in XL. Perfect for Blondie, who loves it! They also like some of the earrings on display. Shopping for Blondie accomplished, but nothing for The Wife :(. This store is also heavy into stones ,crystals, and related items that don't do anything for me. Such a cute place! I walked in and knew immediately I would be in there for a while. This is a great place to buy gifts for loved ones, supplies for crafting, jewelry, decorations, and more. Prices are about what you would expect for a place like this in California, and a lot of the products are artisanal so it makes sense for them to be more pricey. The owner is very blunt and direct which I have no problem with and I think its simply her personality, nothing personal. I always make a point to stop at Tokenz in Half Moon Bay when I'm in the area. Originally I found them while looking for bead stores but over the years have grown fond of their crystals, jewelry and unique decor. They have quite a lot of crystals of all shapes and varieties which are interesting to look at. They also carry some very pretty stained glass as well as Hindu and Buddhist statues. Basically, all of your new age needs in one place. Staff is very friendly and enjoy sharing info about their wares. You never know what you'll find and it's the only shop of its kind in the area. I love the inventory here and a few of my favorite treasures were purchased at this store but I'll never spend money there again. The owner (I assume she's the owner because I doubt she'd still have a job if she was an employee) is so rude and arrogant. On occasion she's been rude to me and those in my company and other times she's been nice to me and those with me but blatantly rude to other people in the store for no reason. I don't like it either way. It's a curious way to run a small business. My advice - maybe you shouldn't run a "trinket" shop in a tourist town if you don't like tourists. read more

Recently came to this shop with some friends, they have a pretty wide variety of items they sell. For example, crystals, jewelry, incense, clothes, and some small statues. When I asked to the rings the cashier seemed nice but said a small remark that kind of rubbed me the wrong way but I ignored it. Then one my friends also felt disrespected by an arrogant remark by the cashier as well but she did apologize for not realizing how she came off. What an amazing shop! We were visiting Half Moon Bay for the holiday weekend. Trying to fight the traffic to the 92 we decided to pull over and walk around instead of sitting in the car... We walked into this incredible little shop and met Sheila who is the owner. She's the real deal! what a gem she is! She noticed I had a Merkaba on my necklace. She showed me her sacred geometry necklace with beautiful hand crafted charms. We immediately hit it off and she showed me a book that was insightful on the subject manner. We purchased a Beautiful Flower if Life sacred geometry glass piece. She even gave us a discount for no reason whatsoever. How sweet! Her store is full of everything you could possibly need - crystals, cards, jewelry, structures, Himalayan salt lamps, candles, sculptures, art, posters, I could go on and on... Best gift boutique! No COVID precautions. The owner, Sheila, was maskless, including one of the customers inside. Nearly half of the store is overpriced. The owner is incredibly condescending and rude. In all my years of living on the coast, some of the quirky items entice me to make a rare visit only to be immediately reminded of the weird atmosphere and terrible customer service. You'd think it'd be hard to have bad energy in a place that has images or "tokens" of tranquility and peace everywhere, but they maintain the vibe! If you're looking for cool items with a friendly atmosphere try Odyssea, if you're looking for jewelry go directly across the street to the small french shop or La Rouge. If you like the hippie gear, go to Haight for the exact same items at half the price. I encourage people to shop locally, but if you want a *good* experience there are many many options. read more

The owner was very nice and kind to us. It was our first time at the store. I brought my 8 year old daughter to look for some gem stones to add to her collection. The prices were very reasonable. Service was horrible. was not greeted once and waited in line to check out for 15 minutes while the owner talked to other customers about their purchase. When it was my turn to check out she greeted the person behind me still without greeting me. I paid with card then she asked me for an additional $20 bill she seen in my wallet so I asked her to refund my card and I will pay with cash. she sat there and counted to me very rudely and then told my boyfriend to go get her corn, when he did not she said "so much for this lady" she slammed my cash in my hand and I left. DO NOT recommend going to this shop. Only been in one time and never will ever go again. Tokenz is a really nice spiritual store which has some legit artifacts as well as nice ornamental novelties. It's a good place to window shop and also come in and find some impulse buys. The staff is friendly and the vibe of the store is very liberally calm and chilled out. You'll find something here you want, but maybe not need, so it may be hard to refrain from buying stuff that you like visually. I'd say indulge and treat yourself to something good. It's always nice to support the local merchants at small retail neighborhoods like this. I think this place is also the perfect GIFT GIVING store where you can shop and buy for others and for people who seemingly have everything, so you want to find something with character and that is unique. Worst crystal shop I've ever been to. The owner is incredibly RUDE. Had no mask and didn't even bother to greet us when we came in the store. She made me feel uncomfortable the entire time and when I asked her questions about certain items she was very unhelpful. Don't waste your time here. I would go to Tokenz for years as a local. Every time I would go there, the cashier (blonde, elderly british lady) would be varying levels of rude, but time and again I shrugged it off. This past weekend I was there with my daughter and the level of rude from the cashier this time was off the charts. She seems to like certain people (that look like her) and the rest of us are subjected to her odd power trip behind that register. This time around she would select certain people to "step up to her register" to check out, despite there being a line with a couple of us waiting. She said loudly, "they're just standing around, I pick you.." she then went on to imply that the few of us in line waiting were not "with it" and "the early bird gets the worm" to the person she selected to check out...it was so odd and very mean. That was it for me. I told my daughter we would never give this lady and this shop our hard earned money ever again and we left. Their products are over priced, so I suspect the universe did us a solid today. I hope karma takes care of the rest. read more

I lived in Half Moon Bay for about 10 years and went to this establishment enough times to get a taste of the owners rudeness to finally come to the conclusion that I would never return. It's such a shame, as HMB is a small, super friendly, community-oriented town, and I called it home for so many years. The items in the store themselves are "okay", and I did want to support a local shop, however customer service and making customers feel welcome should be a priority. I agree completely with other people who gave the owner 1 star and wished they could give zero stars. She is indeed rude and condescending, which is a puzzling way to provide customer service. Most of her goods are junky and overpriced for the poor quality. But mostly it's the owner's horrible attitude that will keep me from ever going in there again. All of the other shops I like on Main Street not only have superior merchandise but the owners really like to help you and I feel so welcome. I miss the Art Gallery that was in the building for 20 years before Tokenz took over. Gorgeous original art and the proprietress was lovely. If i could give zero stars i would.... DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU'RE NOT WHITE !! Store owner so racist, following my POC friends around, thinking their stealing, and dismissing their very VALID questions with a rude manner. Insane micro aggressions all around. The guy working there seemed nice but the white british lady is so rude (just like what a lot of other reviews said). I ended up buying some things and at check out the total came out way higher than i expected because i heard her say an item was $17 but in reality it was $70. That item was in a case along with another item I bought that was $25 and when i told her that i'm sorry and i thought it was $17 she was super rude to me and said they wouldn't put something that cheap in the case.... but they'll put something that's $25 in the case? Now THAT doesn't make any sense to me. Anyways, when i told her to take the item off she said "I thought you were rich" GIRLLLL i'm a college student, i've never had a store owner say something so rude to me, like girl bye I don't want your overpriced ass $70 earrings anyway (i've seen those earrings listed on places like etsy for like $20 fr). She also yelled at my friend "SHES COMING" when my friend asked when i'll be done (because she was taking forever to check me out). I have been shopping at Tokenz for at least 20 years and probably even more. I live on the Peninsula and love to go to HMB whenever I can. Whenever I am there, I make it a point to go into the store and say hello to Sheila. I also usually buy a new pair of beautiful earrings or something else. I think the prices of the products are quite reasonable and I like that they come from all over the world. It breaks my heart to see the negative reviews here because I have never ever felt that way at all. I take my friends and family in whenever they are visiting and they also love the Sheila and the store. Just so you all know, I am no shrinking violet and am pretty darn picky about good customer service. I try to make it a point to pay compliments to those establishments who provide it and pointed feedback when I do not. I always leave Tokenz feeling thankful and happy to have visited with Sheila. Can't believe I hadn't set foot in this shop before! According to the cheerful owner, it has been on Main Street for 21 years! She mysteriously said that I may want to check out their back room because I would find it "interesting and useful." My daughter and I spent most of the time in that most useful back room. This is a little kid's paradise! Anything and everything tchotchke-ish could be found here. Miniature fisherman earrings. Shrunken skulls. Teeny tiny little blank books (appropriate for any mouse who wishes to do journaling). Small glass turtles, frogs, gummy bears, ladybugs, etc. (For those of you who are therapists - this is the place to stock up for your sandtrays.) I've been to this shop a handful of times. Although they have some really nice things the owner is not very welcoming. As a matter of fact my most recent purchase was very uncomfortable. She was talking down to the young girl that was handling our transaction . She was very demeaning to her and saying things that would have been best spoken in private. I mentioned her behavior to my sister and she agreed that on her last visit she felt the same about the owner lacking in service. We both agreed that we most definitely had to cleanse our stones from the negative environment that they were in and will take our business elsewhere. I have been to several shops that have crystals and other items geared towards self awareness , positive energy, etc. and many of those other shops have employees who's energy matches what they are selling .Not at this shop , it's clear that it's all about making a sale and not connecting with customers. That's unfortunate because as I said it's a nice looking shop. I highly recommend finding beautiful Crystals, jewelry, candles,Dream catchers , cards, etc. and wonderful teas , honeys healthcare needs at Fremont Natural Foods , located in Fremont Ca .
