Despite being over 100 ft tall, they had never been pruned and were really a hazard. I called Vince at About Green, and he came out the next day. He provided me with a reasonable quote and started the work the following week. He took care of getting the permits and coordinating with the City arborist on inspecting the job. The work was completed in a timely manner, the crew were polite and efficient, The job site was kept safe the entire time and left neat and clean at the end of each day. Vince has a lot of knowledge about proper tree care and the plants and taught me a great deal about the Trees & shrubs on my property. If you care at all about quality tree trimming, nice shaping of established trees, or for that matter good relations with your neighbors, DO NOT USE this company. My neighbor hired them to trim some branches that were hanging over her roof. The crew decided that meant they had to cut my 4 trees in half at the fence line. This includes a very productive orange tree which was setting this years' crop of oranges. Not only does it look terrible, my neighbor did not ask that it be done this way, or even hire him to do these trees which were on my property. When I called the owner, he lied and claimed my neighbor told him to do it and would not come out to see the damage. My neighbor is as upset about the damage as I am. Artful and competent trimming/pruning of several trees that frame my house. This included multiple privets, cherry/plum tree, apricot tree, mock orange. I had found Vicente on Angie's List and was not disappointed. All of the trees came out looking great and met my expectations. All the debris, including my neighbor's driveway, cleaned up. Unfortunately they were not able to blow out my rain gutters, since they did not have their tall ladder with them. But, not the end of the earth. I have an old Camphor tree in the backyard. I'm concerned that it's getting too close to the house. Vicente and his crewmen came and trimmed it off neatly. They're very careful to keep it balanced and stay healthy. My wife is quite satisfied with their work as Vicente cleaned up the backyard neatly. They also trimmed the branches around the PG&E power lines to the house. The price is very reasonable for a day's work. I will use them again in the future. read more

Not many reviews for these guys yet, but don't let that stop you. Vince and his crew were great. Competitive price, thorough and did exactly what I asked for. Cleaned up after the job (spotless) and left small chopped pieces that easily fit Willow Gen's garden waste service specs for pickup (no need to haul away as we have full curb service.) Aside from anything else, Vince is easy going, very open and communicates well, both with his customers and crew. Crew worked safely and were roped the whole time while in the high branches. All large limbs were rope-arrested to prevent them slamming into anything on the way down. I discovered him and his crew trimming trees one street over. We recently used Vicente and his crew to remove our dying street tree - local, friendly, hard-working and great value. Overall a smooth experience. They showed up on time, cut down and hauled the whole tree away and then ground the stump. No damage to sprinkler system, left the place totally clean. I have used About Green twice in the past 3 years. Our backyard has a lot of trees and very tall tree-type hedges. Since it was a major part of the reason we bought the home, we want to maintain the health of the landscaping back there. Vince and his team scaled and thinned/trimmed a couple very tall redwood trees, removed an unhealthy leaning tree and trimmed/maintained many other trees on our property. Vince is a pleasure to work with and very friendly. He is extremely knowledgeable in all of the trees that we have and suggests what service to do on each type of tree based on his knowledge of each. He explains it very clearly to us who don't know much about the subject. His work is quality and his goal is 100% customer satisfaction. On this last visit, they spent a few hours trimming a tree-type hedge and when I came home from work, I wanted it around 3 feet lower. Even though it meant repeating the work for a few hours, Vince did it without any argument. To me, that was a true test of customer satisfaction. They complete the work in a timely manner, over a 2 day period. They cleaned up the yard like new and disposed of a ton of trimmings (never seen so much in my life). We are landscaping and just about to begin construction on a new deck. Then it occurred to us that the best time to trim large trees is before you install a new deck and pavers. This increased the urgency for trimming three large trees and grinding two stumps. On a Sunday, I reviewed Yelp and Angie's List. I left Voice messages for four businesses. Vince called on Monday morning, came by the same day, and we had a quote by Monday afternoon. I talked to one other business that responded promptly, and we hired Vince because he is very personable, he is very responsive, and the reviews for About Green are good. Vicente and his crew are great! I got a deal on Angie's List, but when he came to look at my yard, I got an estimate for all possible work. I have a small lot, but things grow like crazy, and we had a LOT of VERY overdue yard & tree maintenance, due to elderly parents both being sick and passing away in the last 1-2 years. Vince ended up topping several "Trees of Heaven" (which really should be "Trees from Hell", as they're weed trees that just grow and grow and grow!), removing two privet trees (both very tall), and doing LOTS of cleanup in front, back and narrow side areas. We were extremely pleased with their work and their work ethic. We had a crew of four great guys, all of whom have worked with Vince for 5-10 years. They did a far more thorough job than the tree company I used in late 2011, and everything looks great! I also recommended them to my neighbor, who had two VERY tall pine trees and a redwood tree that had become very overgrown with age, and they were able to do her work as well while they were here. They guys clean up beautifully, and I couldn't believe how much stuff they hauled out of here, even after it went through the chipper. They even blew out my gutters and cleaned off the roof--I felt they definitely went the extra mile for us. The service was excellent!!!! I called for a quote and he came by right away. His pricing was very competitive, we had at least 3 bids. He cut the large tree branch and hauled everything away and left almost a full cord of wood for our fireplace. We will definitely be using them again. All this work was done at my house in Los Gatos. I used an Angies list coupon to do some yard cleanup (shubb trimming, lawn care, weeding) and then inquired the cost to remove about 450 sq ft of 5" concrete and several yards of bark and lava rock from the backyard. It took them about 1.5 days to finish the work. I am looking to get a quote for sod install soon. read more

Vince came to the house after work (my request) to give me an estimate. His rate was competitive with other estimates I had received. He was very professional and knowledgeable. That weekend (again, my request) he brought two guys who immediately got to work on the yucca tree. I was concerned that the tree was so close to my house, but as Vince assured us on the first visit, it was no problem for them. They quickly cut down the tree, then used a stump grinder, followed by a pick ax to remove remaining roots. For as large and unwieldy as the grinder was, they were very careful. The root was tangled up in a lamp post that I didn't want so they removed the lamp post (and cement) at no additional cost. They removed two more trees, one of which was near the water main. They were mindful of the water line and easily removed the tree using a pick ax. Then they quickly got to work on the unruly juniper bushes. They finished earlier than expected so they also cleaned up my magnolia tree at no extra cost. I was impressed how hard the guys worked and how efficiently they completed the job. They clearly knew what they were doing. They cleaned up after themselves and hauled away the debris. I definitely recommend him! read more

I saw Vince's crew working on our neighbor's Eucalytpus Tree and they did a really nice job. I went over to ask them for a quote to trim my neighbor's trees, which are overgrown and were hanging over the fence to our property. The quote was very reasonable and they could start work right away. We went over to talk to our neighbor to get their permission. It turned out that our neighbor also wanted to trim down their trees but was concerned about the cost. They received quotes from other vendor and it was too much. Vince gave them a very reasonable deal and they decided to trim both trees and two more trees in their back yard. He even comp them on the fifth smaller tree. Vince's crew did a really nice job and the tree looks so much better now. In addition, I have a persimmon tree in my front yard that I need some pruning. Vince's crew also prune that for me and they look really nice and symmetrical. Overall, I am very happy with his work, professionalism, and willingness to accommodate my neighbor's budget limit. One thing is that in blowing away the leaves on the ground, they also blew some of the mulch away that we wanted to keep. Not a major issue but just something to keep in mind. I hired Vince to do my front and back yard. He took twice as long as he estimated, did a lousy job, then tried to get me to pay double the amount of the estimate since it took him so much longer. He then picked a fight with my neighbor and threatened them. There are plenty of honest landscapers out there. There's no reason to hire Vince. He is not an honest business man. read more

I found Vince on Angie's List 3 years ago. I interviewed him and selected him, in part, because of a Deal on the list. This year, after speaking with 3 companies found on Angie's List, we again decided to go with About Green Land Care. Vince returned my call and was able to stop by that day on his way home from another job. He recognized the yard, and the trees, and talked with us about what we wanted. We agreed to a price and scheduled a date the following week. It's a busy time of year; after evaluating the size of the job (medium small) he was able to fit us in his schedule on a morning before another job. Vince and his team arrived promptly and began work. In addition to sharing his knowledge and experience, he was also willing to take input from us and the trees came out nicely. The work was completed as planned, with an extra - he had his team blow out our gutters while they were on the roof. They worked carefully and cleaned up all evidence of the work before leaving. He did advise when he arrived, that the wood chipper was having problems that morning. After removing the fruit from the branches, separating the ripe from the green, the branches were neatly stacked on the side of the driveway and removed the following day, Vincent and his team know what they are doing and, more importantly, they enjoy what they are doing and seem to enjoy their clients. read more

Vince and his crew were the best! I purchased a deal on Angies List . Sometimes when you purchase discounted service you can't really tell if you are getting your money's worth. In this case I am extremely happy with the work they did. I definitely got my money's worth and more! My tree had not been pruned for at least 15+ years and was getting dangerously overgrown with dead limbs and extremely long and heavy limbs. I asked Vince to prune the tree so it would be safe and It definitely was growing in a lopsided fashion. Vince told me what work he would do and gave me advice on other trees in my yard. He was really nice and informative! Vince's crew shaped my walnut tree, removed all the dead limbs and thinned out the interior. My tree is beautiful now, not just safe, which was unexpected! Vince reviewed our property and the work that needed to be done. In 2 days he contacted us with his estimate. We felt his price was very fair and hired him for the job. He was able to get to us quickly since we were worried about the spindly tree or the neighbors overhanging tree falling on our house during the upcoming winter storms. His crew moved any yard decorations, solar lights, planters, or anything else that might get broken. We have artificial turf under the tall tree and were afraid it would be damaged. Vince's crew was able to cut the large limbs and ease them to the ground without harming the turf. We had another small tree that needed removed that my husband was going to take out. Since they were able to get to our work so quickly he didn't have time to remove the tree. Vince's crew took it out for us at no extra charge even though it wasn't in the original estimate. With all the work that needed to be done and the clean up, his crew was able to do everything in one day. They worked quickly and efficiently. They were thorough in cleaning up all the debris and even took out old leaves that had fallen under the hedges. They swept up any leaves or debris that were left on the yard, concrete, and driveway. They were also very careful around our pool area. These guys worked very much as a team in accomplishing the task while keeping safety in mind.
