They trimmed my trees well and cut back the neighbor side. The reason for the 2 star review is they damage my gutters two branches fell right on top and I heard it. Instead of cutting the branches smaller to drag it out then dragged out large branches scratching the side of the house and damaged my down spout gutter. The contracted said they are not liable for any pipe damage, but this is clearly damage to my gutter that could have been avoided. I probably won't be going with them again. read more

It can be daunting to select a tree service company because you never know exactly what criteria to use for a relatively infrequently used service like this. Carlos was the first company out and he was friendly and low pressure, very fast communication, and his pricing was on par with the other quotes I received shortly thereafter. I wanted a company that had an arborist on staff, which Carlos was, and that had very strong reviews, which Zazueta Tree Specialists did. So they checked all the boxes and I decided to go with them, though another highly rated local company also was a strong option. Carlos and team arrived early on the designated day, explained what they would be doing and how long it would take roughly, and then got to work. They had all the proper gear (basket crane to get really high up), wood chipper to break down the branches they cut, and they did a wonderful job of cleaning up after. They also were able to work around a bee hive that was in our big tree. So everything went well, the job was well done, and the service and communication was great as well. Carlos is very professional and communicative. The last time we had our trees cut, it looked like they had hardly been touched. Now, I understand there's a standard where you cannot take too much off the trees, but c'mon now, you have to trim them down some. Zazueta cut enough that it was clear they had healthily been trimmed, but they still maintained good form and appearance. They were very efficient, getting started with one tree the day before (after getting my approval), and then bringing a large crew including three trucks to do the bulk of the work on the day we had scheduled. I think they're probably not the cheapest out there, but pricing seemed reasonable when I looked back and compared to the prior work that hardly trimmed our trees. read more

I did lots of research trying to find someone who would cut down an old oak tree + stump removal, tree trimming on an old walnut and white birch, a smaller tree removal near a gas line, and planting 2 new trees. He was also a huge help in making sure we did everything according to San Jose city requirements (which is a huge pain in the ass). It was also important to me to find someone who knows how to trim trees properly so they stay healthy and not get damaged. The interior of the trees in particular were very crowded and needed thinning out so they could stay healthy. Carlos came out to look at the trees and discussed all the issues and options with me. I live in Dallas and own a family home in downtown San Jose. There is a huge overgrown tree in our front yard that was tangled up and pushing on the electrical wires. Of course, the city of San Jose said that the tree pruning was on us. So, I hired Zazueta Tree Specialists to reduce the size of the tree and give the wires a clear path to the house. I also needed the tree clippings to be hauled away. Carlos was kind enough to go out to the house and call me so we could talk about what I wanted done, since I was out of town. I had a very small window of time I was in San Jose, so it was important to me that Carlos showed up on the day we scheduled, was on time and his guys got the work done quickly. On the day of the service, I found Carlos to be a true professional. He had a laser pointer that he used to shine on the limbs of the tree so we could talk about exactly which branches would be cut, and how much would be cut. He was very knowledgable and educated me on what needed to be done and left us with a big, beautiful, healthy tree. It looks SO much better! 2 other important things. His guys put ladders over some important landscaping items in my yard so the branches would damage the stuff when it fell. I was very worried I would lose bushes and flowers below and all of that stuff was completely undisturbed. Last, I forgot to tell my neighbors that I was having this done. And one of them was NOT happy about it. Carlos went and knocked on his door and managed that situation for me and got him to move his car. Carlos and the team took down my neighbors PVC Christmas lights....You know the PVC stuff that people in downtown put over their sidewalks? They disconnected it, took it down cut the tree and set it all back up!!! My neighbor was not only not mad when it was over, he was thanking me for how great the tree looked! This really meant a lot to me because it was way above and beyond what I should have expected. Dealing with the neighbors should have been my responsibility and I blew it.
