This is truly the worst customer service experience I have EVER had. It started with my picking up my golden who I have taken there a few times before. I was happy with the experience the last few times and that why I took her back. I told them I wanted the same service as the times previously with the bath, brush, nails, sanitary and hair trim. When I picked her up it looked as though they took the buzzer to her whole body. I brought it to the owner, Morley Thompson's attention and she looked at the card and said they did the same exact thing as the previous times and explained what they wrote the last time and how it was the same. I explained to her that I understand it may be written that way but showed her all the ways it was VERY different and why I was unhappy. She then told me it was the exact same and said my dog looked great. I explained to her that it was my dog, I am the customer and I was unhappy. I told her the last few times I had been in I loved the trim and this time they totally buzzed her all around. She then went on to YELL at me that I was wrong and my dog looked "freaking great" and her groomer did an amazing job. Then the worst part of it all is she starts insulting my dog about something completely irrelevant, saying that my dog "isn't even leash trained". She also said "and when you go to write a bad review she will put a picture of my dog from the cameras and show how great your dog looks!", which is completely inappropriate to be posting pictures of people's dogs without their permission. I then asked if she would also attach the way she speaks to her customers and she went silent. Needless to say we will never be back and I hope no one else takes their dogs there because she truly is a terrible person and doesn't have a clue how to speak to a customer. I have been going to a groomer in Peoria called ABOUT THE FUR for many years in fact I was one of their first customers. The owner is Morley Thompson. I have 4 shih tzus and prior to them I had two elderly dogs they also groomed. One time I got my boy Pringles back and the groomer said he was horrible and almost bit her, he hated getting his face done, blah blah blah. She was just so rude to me about how he acted. After I got home, Pringles was acting skittish and afraid for two days. I knew it was something about how he was treated there. I called the owner, Morley, and explained to her what happened because she was not in the shop during his entire grooming. She said it was probably just because Wrigley wasn't there with him and he was protecting the new puppy we had. She completely dismissed the fact that the groomer was rude to me and that maybe she did something to my dog. Something didn't feel right but I decided to give Morley one more chance and allowed her personally to groom them for the last time. She was snotty to me and I never went back. I have recently learned that the ever unprofessional Morley has little regard for her customer base and consistently bashes them. She talked bad about me and my dogs and said she raised the prices on purpose to me so that I would not come back. She said she hated me and that my dogs were always matted. I think this lady is bat shit crazy! My dogs are brushed constantly and do not have matted hair. I take very good care of my dogs. Hence why I pay for Four of them to get groomed REGULARLY. If you are in the Peoria area, avoid this groomer. She does NOT care about her client base. She doesn't have a professional bone in her body. She allows her low budget groomers to treat your dogs poorly and then make excuses for it. I adopted my cat, a Maine Coon mix when he was about 5 and is now around 10. Lately he has been struggling grooming himself and became matted. Took him to the vet to get checked out and they recommended he get shaved. The vet gave me the card for this groomer, I called, and thankfully they do have a cat groomer! I have never needed to get my cat groomed/shaved in the past so I was very nervous about the experience as I would not know how he would react. He has a very gentle and calm demeanor but I didn't know how he would react to being full on groomed and shaved. The groomer was honest on the phone letting me know she will stop the grooming and send him home if he did not react well, and I appreciated the honesty. Well he did great and it only took a little over an hour. I have not taken my dog here yet but I plan on doing so soon. read more

I was visiting Peoria for the week and needed my dog's nails trimmed. I called to make sure I could walk-in and was told yes. I arrived and they took care of my dog right away. They trimmed and filed his nails for a good price. The only thing was that my dog's nails are black so she cut one too short and made him bleed. She was so nonchalant about it and he wasn't bleeding all over so I didn't worry too much. I made sure to keep an eye on it for the rest of the day. read more

Great grooming salon! I've taken all of my dogs here for serval years because of not only the quality of their work but I love how quickly they get my dogs done. I took my mini poodle puppy for his first real haircut, they got him and my other dog done in about an hour. I can tell they care about the dogs and take extra measures to ensure the dog is comfortable. The groomer was nice enough to hold my poodle and walk near my other dog while trimming his feet to ensure he wasn't as nervous and I really appreciate her taking the time to do that. Will continue to make the 40 min drive to this salon. read more

My groomer took the time to ask me questions on what I liked and disliked about her current cut. They were done with her at the promised time. We have a senior Basset Hound and a rowdy young Goldendoodle. We used to go to the big box store pet "salon", but NO more! We have been taking them to About the Fur for a while and both dogs are happy and tail wagging to go in and happy and tail wagging and CLEAN when they are leaving. Staff is great and super flexible when you can't grab them right away when they are finished. Price seems totally reasonable to me. We are now loyal customers. read more

I absolutely hate that I have to post this review. As a fellow small business owner, I never give anything but glowing reviews online and typically keep the bad experiences to myself because I know everyone can have a bad day. Unfortunately, my experience with this grooming salon this week has warranted that I speak up so others aren't treated similarly. I have a three-year old goldendoodle named Chloe (part poodle, part golden retriever). Her hair is kinky, wiry and wool-like in texture. It is not easy to brush and she tends to get matted on her neck and by her butt. I know that she is difficult to groom because of the texture of her fur and that it can take several hours (four or five typically) to groom her completely. I am also completely willing to pay for whatever it takes to groom her appropriately. The last time I had her groomed (at a different salon), they shaved Chloe naked from her nose to her tail. I was devastated and have been fearful to get her a complete groom because it took almost six months to grow her out. When I made my appointment at "About the Fur," I explained that she had some matting as normal and that I did not want her shaved. I explained the breed and discussed the amount of time it would likely take to groom Chloe appropriately. Since "About the Fur" just had her in their salon in December for a bath, brush and sanitary, they were familiar with Chloe and I was under the impression that we were good to go. I waited a week for my appointment and took Chloe to drop her off on my way to my daughter's pre-school. I admit that I was 10 minutes late to our appointment that day. My husband was running late getting home from his shift at the fire station and I was late getting out the door as a result. When Chloe, my five year old and I walked into the salon, we were greeted with "Oh, we thought you no-showed us!" I apologized and explained the situation. One of the techs came over to look at Chloe and I again expressed my desire to not have her shaved naked. The tech pointed out the matting on her neck and her butt that was previously disclosed and told me that "she didn't have time." All she kept saying was that "she didn't have time." I told her that I didn't understand what that meant because I made an appointment for a full groom for a golden doodle. How could she "not have time" to groom her appropriately? She told me that unless she shaved my dog naked, she could not groom her that day. Since that was clearly not what I wanted, I decided to leave. As I took my daughter and my dog out of the salon, the owner came out from behind the desk and confronted me. She told me that I was a horrible pet owner, that I did not deserve to have such an expensive dog, I didn't take care of my dog and that I was mistreating her by not shaving her naked. I told her that it was not necessary to shave Chloe because she could be brushed and it was lazy to resort to shaving. She asked me if I was willing to pay $50 an hour to brush Chloe out and I said that of course I was. She told me that she has been grooming for 30 years and she was "educating me" on how to care for my "expensive dog that I should not have." I am embarrassed to say that I lost my temper and said two cuss words. Yes, they both started with an "F" and I wish I had not lost control, but she came at me like a crazy person and I just reacted. She then told me that I was a horrible mother and she hoped my daughter wouldn't remember that her mother was such a terrible person. She continued to verbally assault me as I backed out the door. I have never been insulted like that in my life, especially from someone I was trying to give money to. It was the most crazy experience I have ever had in a business environment. After I told her to have a great day, my daughter, my dog and I walked out - just like we had tried to do before the owner confronted us. I was incredibly upset about the way I was treated and was in shock that a business owner chose to act that way over something so simple. I called Fletcher Heights Animal Hospital on my way home and told them what had happened. Chloe had her grooming appointment there yesterday. As you can see, she was not shaved naked. She was shaved a little on her neck - as I expected - but it was not necessary to shave her all over. They brushed her, de-matted her in the necessary areas and groomed her appropriately. It cost $180 and that was exactly what I expected to pay - and would have paid "About the Fur" had they even tried. Rather than groom my dog, the owner chose to go on her business Facebook page to say insulting things about me and my dog. She is unprofessional, rude and lazy. If you're thinking about bringing your long-coated dog here, I would suggest going a block up the road if you don't like a full shave...especially because you could just do the full shave thing at home yourself and save the time, expense and terrible treatment you will receive at "About the Fur." read more

I have been taking my dogs here for about 6 times or so. Just had them in there last week and very disappointed with their cut as they were uneven, beards completely cut off and not what I asked for. Every time I take them, it's like the first time, where I have to explain exactly what I want done on them. I've even brought in pictures as examples. Every time I pick them up they look completely different than the time before. After about a week and still not liking the cuts, I called and spoke with the owner and she was full of excuses, and lastly said "If your dogs were better behaved, maybe we could cut them like you want. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! A. they are dogs B. I have never been told that they were bad before C.this woman needs a class in customer service!!! I just relocated to the Phoenix area and have been looking for a grooming salon. I took my 2 shihtzu's here last week for the first time after checking it out beforehand. I was very impressed with how clean and quiet the salon was. Not a lot of barking dogs and noise like many other salons. I am very particular about my dogs grooming and well being. They listened to how I wanted them clipped and they looked great when they were done! Also I noticed my dogs were not nearly as nervous or anxious here when I took them in and when I picked them up!! It was a great find and will definitely be taking my girls there again!!! read more

I have been there approximately 5 times. Small issues, but enough to make me search for another groomer. They have turn over, I have had 3 different groomers work on my dogs. It is hard to keep on relaying the special needs of my dogs and it getting lost in the translation. I have mentioned twice that when they grind the dogs nails they were so sharp it actually cut my leg and to please round them in the future One time when I was picking up my dogs, I saw another groomer being too rough on another dog. I called the owner over and mentioned it to her that they had better not be treating my dogs like that. The owner said "I had my back turned so I didn't see it." My dogs get a hygiene cut, she was nicked in 2 places, they never told me. 2 days later when we were at the vet for antibiotics. When I called the owner, she said, Well okay we will watch that. The final straw is they have moved down a few doors. Never notified me, I went for my appointment, everything was cleaned out, big padlock on the door, lights out. No sign on the door that they had moved. I came back home and called and was told by the owner "The big neon sign is up, that should have been clear we were open".
