Don't know what happened to these people, but overnight they turned terrible. They used to be so good. I took my little 13-pound terrier to get groomed as I had done for the last few years, and they did such a hack job on her paws to trim her nails that it was shocking. They couldn't just stop at one paw, they hacked both paws. Within 10 minutes of giving me my dog back, she was starting to bleed out all over the car seat. From the time I picked her up in the car around 2:00 pm, it took 6 hours for the bleeding to subside. One of the claws had been so hacked that it was bleeding profusely. I called the pet salon and left a message and no one called back. I wanted to ask why they gave me back my dog in such a state? They should not have given me the dog in that state without warning me to take her to the vet right away. The lady who used to run the place was always very good about calling back and very conscientious. She was nowhere to be found. She always called me back whenever I left a message. I have no idea who this new crowd is running the place. Maybe the place was sold. I then called again and talked to this woman who said her boss was out of town and she hung up on me. BTW, I had similar experiences with other groomers over 50 years of having dogs. One was where the ear was badly knicked and was bleeding. The difference is that the groomer (not this one) was upfront and told me they had caused the dog to bleed and even called me before the grooming was done. In that case, they suggested I take the dog to the vet. I was not crazy about what had happened in those circumstances, but they were honest about it and my dog healed pretty well although he had a big bandage on his ear for a few weeks. That was a terrier too. The other dog was an English Pointer and it was also a paw wound. Again the groomer was very upfront about it and luckily they had a veterinarian on-site and we had a good resolution to the wound. The wound was quite serious and we had to cauterize the claw. That was the only way to stop the bleeding. If you have had a dog with a claw wound you know they can get very bad very quickly with uncontrollable bleeding. I also once had a black and white Boston Terrier who had a nasty habit of digging in the yard. One day she dug so hard that she damaged one of her claws and we had to take her to the vet immediately. We had to put her paw in a large baggie before putting her in the car as the baggie was filling with blood. The point here is that claw wounds can get very serious very quickly and that is what I was thinking of when this happened to my little 13 pound Terrier. When I started realizing how much my little 13-pound terrier was bleeding, after about 10 minutes in the car, I was wondering how bad the bleeding would get. Keep in mind that she started walking on the tile and with each step, blood was spraying everywhere. That is when we were concerned about whether we could stop the bleeding. Boy! This place has changed and is not like it once was. I used to totally trust them! No one wants to take responsibility. Here are the pictures of my sweet little dog's bleeding paws. read more

So glad I stumbled upon this place. The staff is super friendly and I can't describe the relief of finding a place that actually grooms my dog the way I groom my dog. Ok: I'm the kinda guy that doesn't trust alot of folks, especially when it comes to my family. I pour thru physicians' paper records at the board before choosing a family doctor. And while I might consider myself thorough, "anal" might be a more accurate descriptor. We consider our pet family as well, and when our old vet/groomer retired I went looking. We don't look for the closest, or by zip code, but I do look for the best. My dog is a rescue. Skittish somewhat, but a superb judge of people. A skill responsible for keeping her alive before she found her forever home I'd guess. She likes precious paws. I like precious paws. My family likes precious paws. Ask around. Go visit. Very rude!!!! I was told a price of $60 to groom my little dog. I was fine with that price . When I got there they uped the price to $ 65. I get my dog groomed every 6 weeks so he just needed the normal grooming. I told them he weighs 17 lbs. They said he was bigger then they thought so the price would be $5 more. 17 lbs is 17 lbs so I felt they were just trying to get more money. They should honor the price they quoted to me. I told them I felt they were trying to take advantage of me by raising the price. The lady became very rude. Practically tossed my dog into my arms & told me to leave. What an awuful way to treat a customer & a dog!!! I had never used them. & will never recommend them.!!!!! They don't honor the price they quoted.....they don't treat you respectful...they only care about the money!!!!! read more

I've been going to Precious Paws in Sun City, AZ for about 2 years now. When I moved out of Sun City, I tried a couple of places closer to my new home. They just couldn't compete. In fact, they left my little Lulu traumatized. Kathy is her groomer and spends so much time with her. Lulu doesn't let me get a brush near her, so she looks pretty rugged when I bring her in. They really listen to you and Lulu has always come out GORGEOUS!! No nics, no pain, she isn't traumatized. I could not give this a better review. Precious Paws owner, Michelle, knows her customers and their owners. I initially started using Precious Paws because of its Sun City Players Community Theater sponsorship. Michelle and her staff quickly won me over with their detailed, consistent and caring service. After scheduling an appointment, Michelle always calls to confirm the day before the appointment, which I appreciate because even tho I write it on my calendar, I have a tendency to "space" scheduled appointments. Michelle always seems to be offering customers something special like a free tooth brushing...but in December she started taking photos of finished pets in a theme-of-the-month setting. However, if anal gland expression is part of the grooming package why was my poor dog "scooting" across the floor to get relief 11 days after his grooming visit? My dog was recently adopted from a shelter and hadn't had the appropriate grooming for quite some time. I trusted that the services described would be performed. I discovered his problem on a Monday and they were closed. Given my mistrust and his discomfort, I took him to a different groomer who expressed three times the amount of fluid that is considered normal. Portion of services paid for not performed! read more

My mom owns a dog who putting it mildly is a horribly snippy little thing. I can't even imagine someone willingly putting their hands near her face to trim her hair and brush her teeth while expecting to keep all their digits. Since moving to Sun City West, I have had a challenge finding a dog groomer that I was comfortable leaving the dogs with by themselves. It took a few horror stories for me to find precious pies and the pups love it. They come home looking great and are so happy. We took our two dogs Roisin and Emmet to Precious Paws. They did a great job on them. Michelle the owner greeted us as we came in. We told her my sister had been hospitalized. She was genuinely concerned. Kathy the groomer did a great job. I kiddingly said "I bet Emmet, the 6 month old Havenese, was a joy to groom. With a sly twinkle in her eyes, she said "he's a puppy." I started with this grooming place with the original owner, never had a problem, she sold her business, with the new owner , first time it was ok, but after that they did a terrible job, especially when I pay $ 55.00 and leave a $ 10.00 tip. Last time I got into and argument with the groomers and owner because I told them that it was close to 4 hrs waiting and they got upset because they way I said it. I understand there is a 3 hr waiting time but this was going on 4 hrs and I was concern about my dog. The groomer that was handling my dog got extremely rude with me and the conversation heated up that I told them I 'm taking my business else where, and the owner did apologized and I told her I will not be back because she let her employees talk to me that way. She asked me not to come back after I told her that I would never be back; and also I told her that I'm calling my friends not to use her grooming business. read more

I have taken my dogs to a Lotta groomers over the years. I took them to precious paws in Sun City. My brother was telling me who great they are, he has taking his dog there before. I took my dogs in thinking that this place was good? I got them the works, nails,hair,shampoo the works. They couldn't clip The female dog they said that she was trying to bite them, but I know this isn't true because I've had her for 15 years. she has never bitten anyone, The other dog they clipped him and did a bad job. They were supposed to clip his nails but never did. I would recommend you to these people to no one!!!!! read more

Our first visit was excellent. The second visit we had the same groomer but Buddy's cut was very uneven. I was disappointed but did return a third time and met a new groomer who did not listen to what cut I liked. Buddy was butchered and I was not happy. I spoke with the owner after a few days had passed and expressed my disappointment in the service and explained we would not be returning. Best place to take your dog to get groomed. Years ago I us to take my schnauzer to Petsmart and they cut her ear. She had to get it glued. I felt so bad. She was terrified of that place. I was desperate to find an new groomer. I ended up discovering precious paws after we had some ice cream. I've been taking my baby there ever since then. That was about 5 years ago. This whole time Petsmart was cutting her hair wrong! Precious Paws knows how to cut my Schnauzer hair. They do an awesome job. She looks like a dog on tv when she comes out of that place. She gets SO many compliments at the dog park. She maybe a senor but looks better than most young dogs. People like her haircut so much I always give them precious paws info. One more thing my baby is having surgery and I took her to the vet the other day. Anyways they told me my schnauzer has really good skin and her ears are nice and cleaned. My Vet seem very impressed by how well groomed my dog was. She told me they are doing a good job because she does not have dry skin or hair in her ears. That made me happy at least I know I'm not wasting my money. read more
