My husband and I have gone several times to the About Time Clock Shop. It is like stepping into another world, one of quiet and precision. Vlod has helped us repair and restore two clocks, one a music box clock of significant monetary value, and the other an electric clock of my father, emotionally important to me. In both instances Vlod did a great job, and the price he charged was fair. My clock was not even a nice antique, but it had sentimental importance. I'm so glad I found this shop! I took apart the pendulum wall clock my grandfather had constructed from a clock kit almost 50 years ago (a wedding gift). I purchased replacement parts 10 years ago, but just could not comprehend the instructions...so it sat gathering dust. Just last month I happened to notice the "About Time" sign on a vehicle parked on Cass Street, and I soon tracked it down. I took the clock in, in pieces, and got it back working perfectly for a very reasonable charge! Yes, there is a medium-size dog, who might look fierce but responds immediately to a "nice-doggy voice." I was initially unsure, but we got along famously. read more

These are the nicest people I've met in years. When my two favorite clocks died, I never thought I was going to get them working again. They are battery driven. No problem for this shop. Within a few days I got both back with brand new working mechanisms. And, I couldn't believe how little I was charged. Then, two months later, one clock fell off the wall, onto a table, and stopped working. I took it back, and they refused to charge me to get it going again, because "it's still under our warranty." How generous was that? This little business is a community treasure, operated highly skilled, honest, and generous folks who obviously love their profession. read more

I am so glad that I read the 2013 one star review and a subsequent "don't worry" review about the dog. I dropped off my clock with a clerk, no problems and no dog in sight, but it took longer to repair due to parts being ordered. When I went to pick up the clock, the dog was on the front step. The dog looks like a pit bull mix but after reading the reviews, I thought not to worry. I tried not to look at the dog and sidestepped him to get into the shop. So, if you're afraid of dogs, call first and make sure the dog is not guarding the shop. When I paid the bill, the dog had moved in beside his owner and jumped up at the counter at me, but I was prepared and only a bit startled. Still and all, the owner shouldn't be taking his dog to work because the animal is all muscle and has a baleful stare. NO tail wag at all and I'm a dog owner. My clock looks great, works great, but I can't give 5 stars because I had to call twice to find out when it was ready. Apparently, they don't call their customers, you call them. This is a busy shop so maybe they don't need to improve customer service or take care of the canine situation??? read more

I went to their new location last week. The owner helped me. He had a huge dog that was maybe playful to him, BUT to someone who was beaten by a dog when they were young, I was scared to death. The owner was offended about me commenting that I was afraid of his dog and told me " He won't bite. " The dog wanted to jump over the dinky counter. This is no way to do business. I ran out and almost had a heart attack and was left with anxiety. What I am most upset about is that the owner had no compassion that I was clearly afraid. Will not go back & give him any business at all. Not to mention, I dropped off my watch and was not given a tag and when I went to pick it up was told to come back with a ticket.... So I have to send my husband to try to get my watch back. WOW !!! read more
