I went to Abrazo Arrowhead on 09/29:25 after having severe abdominal and lower back pain. In was in and out in less than two hours. They did a CT scan and blood work and told me to follow up with my PCP to get an MRI for further investigations. A week later I find out that they billed the insurance $32633.00 and that I owe $21799.08 because the ER doctor determined that it my visit was not medically necessary even though I explained the severe pain I was in. I did not get any care whatsoever, I was not admitted, I sat in a chair while the doctor talked to me and was sent home. read more

My mother came in with chest pain, was left in a room in the ER dept for several hours without a single nurse or doctor checking in on her unless she clicked the call button to get assistance to unhook from the monitor to use the bathroom. The staff did not make calls to any providers to be seen. The only time they gave a crap was when she got visibly upset asking for updates, or when a family member went to the ER to advocate for her. And mind you she is not senile, or disabled and shouldn't have needed someone to fight on her behalf for basic care. If you want anything other than the absolute worst care for your loved one DO NOT AT ALL COSTS GO TO THIS FACILITY. If I could apply negative stars i absolutely would, don't go here this place will more than likely kill you if you're in a life or death situation. read more

As a provider myself I felt the need to write an accurate review of my personal experience as a patient at Arrowhead Abrazo Hospital. The ER portion was absolutely horrendous. Saturday at 245 am. I'm the only person in the lobby, was the only one being triaged and there was one other patient actually being treated in the ER. Front desk was good, the triage was good, and the ER physician was inexperienced. She told me I had a virus and migraine after her eval and wanted to send me home. I advised her I was a PA and told her my thoughts and why it's important I have labs and cultures drawn. She didn't like that and said she needed clearance from her supervising physician. The SP came in, did his eval and instantly ordered labs, cultures, lumbar puncture, CT of head, and started IV antibiotics. Next, everyone is training and brand new. I understand we all need to learn, but I was a person's first IV, had a nurse who received her license 3 months ago (and was training a student), then the lumbar puncture was an even newer resident under my original ER physician. She had never done one, not sure she had seen one because she didn't know basics, even position of the bevel or how to inform me of risks of the procedure. I was so uneasy about this I contemplated being treated elsewhere. During it there were hiccups, extra csf was leaked. No one bandaged it, I sat in bed upright and developed a severe headache where I was dry heaving and sweating from pain. Used my call light without response, so I started yelling for help. A Dr came in and helped me lay the bed flat as I knew this was a post LP complication headache. This lasted for days and I couldn't sit up or walk due to the intensity of the pain when elevated. I would have been treated with IV antibiotics and discharged if it weren't for this complication. Due to the post-puncture headache from the LP, I had to be an inpatient for 5 days. Once admitted onto the floor, the experience drastically improved. Staff knew what they were doing, yes still training, but that's expected. Thankful I knew enough from my medical background to argue with the original physician to even get a workup in the ER. She would've sent me home and I would have continued to worsen and become septic without IV antibiotics and possibly be critically ill or even die. Overall, awful ER where I'd never go back to as I don't believe they have competent physicians. Maybe this was only because it was an overnight shift at 3am on a weekend, but I'd never risk it again. In my opinion, the hospital needs more trained and experienced physicians and limits how many staff are training at a time. Yet, the actual inpatient portion of the hospital was great with knowledgeable physicians and staff. read more

One final update. We received our letter of resolution recently. Hubby stated that the letter had factual inaccuracies but otherwise does not care anymore about what had transpired. We do not care to pursue this matter any further and I am personally happy that the matter was addressed no matter what the outcome was. You can not visit your spouse in recovery from surgery, then you wait hours for them to get a room for your spouse. Horrible

I went to the ER and was told I had a attack needed to be admitted. I was very disappointed with the ER's cleanliness, it was discussing very filthy. The floors had ace bandage and gauze left on floor and there was dust bunnies in the corners. The ER looks like it belongs in the 60's with all the dividers. When I was taken to a room in ER, the bed was so very uncomfortable and did not have any bedding. They did not have any pillows in ER or up on the floor. When taken up to be admitted I was in a room with a little lady that was very sick. They had her using a sleep Apna machine on her that was too big so every time it came off she would moan or ask for help. I reported it to my nurse and she told the other nurse and respiratory therapist, but they did nothing except put the mask back on, needless to say I did not sleep the whole not until early morning. The second night was better. The room was like the ER very dirty. Housekeeping came in in the morning for about 5-10 minutes cleaned the floor and just where the mop would go. I cannot complain about the doctors and nurses they were wonderful. It is really sad I will not return to the hospital due to the hospital being so filthy. Never in my life to I remember see a hospital that bad. I sure hope that no one get sick from the filth. read more

This is the 6th experience with Arrowhead hospital and all visits have been disappointing. I recently was there after an accident and after they xrayed me said I had a " fractured" clavicle, but really it was shattered into 4 pieces and poking up under the skin. I also had a bruised bone and road rash with imbedded gravel. They sent me home with some pain killers. I cleaned up my wounds myself at home. I contacted an orthopedic surgeon the next day and I had a plate and 7 screws put in my clavicle 2 days later as an outpatient- but now have nerve damage. There was no sense of urgency, at all. The poor nurse couldn't do anything because there were no doctor's orders. They wouldn't provide an ASL interpreter to a deaf friend during her stay ( it's required by law to have any language interpreter for a patient) until I demanded one! The doctor even said she was stupid because she couldn't "speak". Trying to avoid this place if possible. read more

They (Abrazo Arrowhead) didn't have qualified staffing taking care of my husband. They didn't care in ICU... It's been a year since my husband died in that terrible hospital... the minute I had them remove the ventilator they all disappeared... read more

My nurse in the pre-op area where they get you ready for surgery could not have been nicer but was making a lot of mistakes. Ie: putting an uncapped needle down on a dirty computer desk before using it to start an IV on me. Then, I get to the recovery area after surgery and I am literally begging the nurse: Daniel (who won't look up from his computer) for something for pain while I am crying in pain and all he says is "well yeah, they just cut through muscle... of course you're in pain." Then, when another nurse comes to give report to Daniel, daniel ASKS HER WHAT I HAD DONE... As in, he didn't even bother to look to see surgery I just had... which was an entire bladder stimulator implanted into my back. Additionally, at no point did they call to update or get the person I had with me. They let me lay there crying without anyone to advocate for me, until they finally wheeled me out to meet him. Abrazzo: I will also be calling to give a complaint over the phone against Daniel (and the recovery area) for overall negligence. read more

ruined my birth experience in many ways including telling me i need to fly my babies right after birth to another hospital because there was no space in NICU and knew that after telling me to drive 1 hour from home in labor to deliver triplets here. I loved my first birth at banner and WISH I would've just went there. they couldn't tell me my babies weight height etc. didn't even give me name cards for them or anything. so outdated, so rude, just awful. didn't have a pump for me to use, didn't have leg compressions for me after a c section. etc etc read more

The attendants and the PA are very rude. They lie about CT scans and lab results. I no longer feel safe coming here. I strongly recommend you don't seek any care here. On a happier note, the nurses and CT techs are amazing. read more

My 99 year old father fell and was taken by ambulance to the ER at this hospital. I told 3 nurses in the ER what my dad was allergic to. I emphasized not to give him Tylenol because he would develop hives from head to toe. The head nurse that was assisting dad said he would note his chart and ask the ER doctor what he could give him for pain. After about 4 hours, my son came and I went home to get some things. While I was gone they gave my dad Tylenol. When I got back the next morning he was covered in hives and miserable. And, the chart had NOT been noted. He was admitted and the first nurse when he got to his room was amazing! She was there all night with him. The rest of the week he felt like he was ignored. This is not a hospital I will ever take my parents back to. One positive note: Dr Moore was excellent. Performed a successful surgery on my dad and the surgical team were great. read more

My daughter was born In November and as I have now had time to reflect on the experience it was a pretty awful one. Some of the nurses were okay but several were rude and condescending. I had a pretty traumatic birthing experience and very little of what was being done was explained to me. If my Dr wouldn't have been there I don't know what I would have done. Just an overall lack of basic compassion or guidance honestly. My epidural wasn't working and after hours of being in pain and nobody listening to me... a new anesthesiologist finally did a leg test on me and realized I needed more. She was able to help me and relieve me of pain in two second after I was pushing and feeling everything for several hours. There have been a ton of issues with the billing department not sending bills to my insurance, too. I've had to call 4-5 times and they still haven't sent the appropriate bill to my insurance. Won't be coming back if I have another child and I would t recommend this hospital to anyone. read more

I can't speak to the rest of the hospital but the surgical services was perfect from the start to the finish! Polite, friendly, caring, skilled and professional. What a great team. The care from all the doctors here is just awful. The nursing staff is good though. The doctors walk around like they are gods and don't listen to anything you say. They also make representations and the just oops - forget to do what they say. I was told to pick my discharge time by Dr. Sheft and he'd make sure to get me out. I picked a 9am time to leave. I'm stable and ready to go. But guess what - he hasn't done anything. He did laugh and say that maybe I could help him with his tenant issues when he found out I was a lawyer...really doc? How about you do your job, get me out of here so a patient more in need can be here. Now I'm told I could be here as late at 4pm. Are you kidding me???? 4pm is NO WHERE close to 9am. And do you think he has the common courtesy to actually come back in and talk to me. Naw. I just have to sit here and when he has time he will come in. Cool, thanks doctor. Then let's not forget about the cardio doctor, Dr. Mans. Arrogant as they come. Luckily, I didn't need much from him. He did have an echocardiogram done, but do you think anyone came in to discuss results? NOPE! I'm sure it will be added to my bill. Same with an ultrasound of my legs. this hospital should be looked into medical kidnapping. During my stay before my c-section I was asked if I ever used drugs. I stated I had smoked weed before pregnancy. the hospital notified dpc and made my stay horrible and uncomfortable. what should have been a beautiful moment meeting my baby was ruined by rude staff members and dpc interviewing my husband and I, AND needing to see our home before I could bring my baby home. best part my baby and I were completely drug free the entire pregnancy and delivery. my case has finally been closed due to no drugs in my system what so ever. This place sucks beyond sucking. Twice I was here, I was taken by ambulance the second time so I didn't have a choice. Ignored both times. Second time, taken with a heart condition, wasn't provided any care except an EKG. Left alone for seven hours, zero interaction. When I said I wanted to leave, they literally pointed to the door and told me how to get to the front where my husband could pick me up. No one cared about me AT ALL. I had only my pajamas, and no shoes. I cannot stand every single one of the people at this hospital - they are uncaring, rude, disrespectful, and condescending. These people are so rude, the Dr is rude and asks what treatments are wanted by the patient instead of going over what her recommendations are and explaining/ educating the patient on why she recommends treatment. My husband had a routine colonoscopy screening in June at the surgical center. The entire staff was awesome! Our issue came after receiving the hospital bill. The doctor coded it as wellness screening, hospital coded as diagnostic. So he calls 'billing and insurance' to get it corrected at least 8 times, talking to different people each time. I am guessing Abrazo outsources the billing because none of these people were helpful, claimed to be in Dallas! Hard to understand with language barrier also. My husband heard anything from, we'll send it to get it looked at to ok, what code do you want us to use to you can call this number in radiology which turned out to be a scam number (the person told him to f*** off) to if you can't understand me, call back and get someone different and also getting put on hold for eternity. I'm pretty understanding with insurance, but it was incredibly frustrating to try and deal with these people. I highly suggest someone at this company monitor the billing department and if they do actually record your call, maybe start listening to them! Appalling! I wonder how many people get billed wrong and still pay it for fear of collections! Go through your insurance and deny the claim...they will force a review. We are currently waiting as I write this! It's unfortunate, but we will not be going back to Abrazo Arrowhead or any affiliation any time soon! ***UPDATE*** Since this posting, we have spoken to countless people at Abrazo to get absolutely no where! I've spoken to our insurance and they have informed me that if you go in for a preventative colonoscopy screening (which the doctor clearly stated on the paperwork, she was paid 100%), regardless of what is found during that screening, it still gets coded as a preventative colonoscopy screening. PERIOD! Apparently we were told this is going to yet another investigative team who deals with contracts at Abrazo, not sure what that means? In the meantime, we will be filing a complaint with our insurance company against Abrazo. At this point, we do know that our insurance will cover this preventative screening 100%, but until Abrazo recodes their obvious mistake, we will allow the process to continue looking into why Abrazo changed the coding to diagnostic. Got mis-diagnosed, the staff is rude only to have to come back and wait another 6 hours and we still have t seen a dr. The waiting room smells like dirty hair, GOD forbid you ask a time estimate ( patients are a nucientz to this hospital obviously) they approach health care in a very laxadazical way. I whole heartedly want to know, why does the hospital ask such invasive questions that have nothing to do with the reason I'm at the hospital? I get the person asking is only doing their job. My problem is the hospital policy telling them they have to. Not to mention you ask very personal questions and also divulge personal information in front of people in the room when the patient might not want that information divulged to that individual.. HIPPA feels like it's really pushing into play here and the staff are borderline violating that by just diving straight into it. Aside from that, I'm here now. My dr delivers here. I'll be delivering here even tho I've had issues with the staff in the past asking me if I have an eating disorder cause I'm naturally skinny. "Your height doesn't match your weight" while I was early into my pregnancy. An then when I say that im again "naturally skinny have been my entire life" the floor nurse asking what drugs I use cause it's not normal.. and me repeating "I don't use drugs, never have" then taking my blood and urine and seeing I don't use drugs at all and seeing my full history that I don't even drink alcohol.. I have mixed feelings about this place. So is it your staff or your policy that's so invasive and what's with the body shaming? I don't ask your staff they they're so fat an unhealthy for their height and weight. ** your asking for my name and information on yelp... cause you're going to get into contact with me? Cause I just so openly want to provide that to all of the general public... didn't I just mention HIPPA? What you going to do that you didn't do last time? You emailed me said you'd look into it and nothing ever happened. You brushed it under the rug. Cause a singular patient and issue is nothing to you as long as your paid at the end of the day. I wouldn't let my worst enemy ever be taken to this ER. The nurses were all horrible on day shift. My sister was taken there with very bad pain in her abdomen. By the time she reached the ER her leg was blue and Ice cold. This was at 6:30 am on a Saturday. She was neglected to no end. Nothing that they gave her helped her pain. She sat in misery. She ended up with an Abdomen Aorta Aneurysm that they never saw with scans they did. her blood pressure reached 203/87. Her machine was beeping as it climbed up and down. No Nurses ever came to check on her. we asked why she wasn't hooked to monitors early on and they said she didn't need to be. We demanded she be hooked up so we could see her pressure. And her IV was in her arm with nothing attached to it. She sat in pain and very dehydrated. We asked for a pillow and another Ice pack. Never received either one. They gave her a contrast CT which she was highly allergic to and we told the Dr, he assured us that they would take care of her if she had a reaction. They gave her more fentanyl and Benadryl. Then they took her for contrast CT. When they brought her back they left her with NO nurse knowing she had the allergy to contrast. I watched my sister die in agony with no help from anyone. We were yelling for nurses. My husband found one and by that time everyone was all over the place, unorganized and didn't know what was going on!!! She passed at 7:02 from being ignored all day. She never had a fighting chance. Our family is not letting this one fly by!! It's so wrong in every way. The 2nd shift ER Dr did tell us that her aorta had dissected which would cause her to bleed out. Very sad read more

My 73 year old wife fell at home and hurt her shoulder. It was Friday morning, March 1, 2024, around 8:30 when I brought her to the ER. We have been to ERs a few times over the years, for ourselves and others, and this was the worst experience ever. The nurse was named Carly or something like that. She showed ZERO compassion or empathy even though my wife was in pain. But that was just the beginning. We were there for around 7 hours. In that time the xrays showed a break in her shoulder but the doctor (he never introduced himself so I don't know his name) said emergency surgery was not necessary and referred us to an ortho doc. Then he disappeared to resurface a couple hours(!) later to report that my wife's sodium levels were low and they would add to an IV to get the levels up. The doc (the nurse referred to him as 'provider' so I don't even know if he is a doctor) also asked about my wife's tolerance for hydrocodone as she would be going home "in a couple of hours." The ER was not busy even though our nurse, when I was finally able to track her down, said that it was. A few brief looks into the waiting room proved her lying. We were literally left alone until I found the nurse who said, "I'm coming back from lunch." I told the nurse we wanted to go home. I could see the 'doc' sitting in front of computer screens with his back to us. The nurse said she would tell the 'provider.' I told the nurse that my wife needed to use the bathroom and the nurse disappeared. I asked another person walking by and then our nurse showed up and said she was waiting for discharge papers to print. We never again saw the provider/doc. He prescribed something for nausea but not for pain. The nurse said to use OTC drugs for pain. At no time did the nurse ever ask my wife how she was doing....during the entire 7 hours we were there. When the nurse went to retrieve a wheelchair to take my wife to front door, I noticed her chitchatting with other staff. There was nobody waiting in the waiting room. They never removed the EEF pads stuck to my wife. Terrible, terrible experience. They should be ashamed but that would entail some ability to feel, wouldn't it? read more

Some I'm back to 1 star. I had to discharge myself tonight for my own health. I was completely ignored in the telemetry ward even to the extent that no one bothered to check on me with the monitor disconnected for three hours. It seemed to me that I was safer at home with my wife than to be ignored in the hospital. I had to call the charge nurse after I was disconnected from the monitor and pushed the nurse alert button with no response for 45 minutes. Don't go here if you value your life Addendum. Two things. This morning an army of about ten medical people gathered around my bed with the main point being I should be concerned about acid reflux. The interesting point is I never received my acid telex medication today even though I asked for it three times. The other issue is that to self discharge, I was required to sign a document that was completely blank awaiting the charge nurse to fill out after I had left. I did not receive a copy so I'm sure this was a CYA that was not legal or enforceable. Also, did you notice that the business manager wanted me to send them something directly without any instructions on how to do that. read more

I arrived for a doctors appointment in the morning medical offices adjacent to Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital at 10:55 am for my 11:00 appt. Parking lot was completely full, as it often is at this time of year with our winter visitors. So, I opted for the valet service. Ron of American Valet Co. was as prompt and friendly as he was last month when I needed to use the valet services. Hang onto this gentlemen! read more

The anesthesiologist did not have a good bedside manner and made some very unprofessional statements to the nurse after my surgery. I was also sent home without the correct anti nausea medicine after surgery, then given the run around several times, and still have not been able to get the prescription. Once you're out of surgery, they do not care about you anymore. read more

I went to the ER 12/16/21 to get an ultrasound and to get my placenta taken out due to bleeding and pain. Dr Folkestad Bradley did the surgery that same day but after surgery never once came and told me if everything was taken out or did an ultrasound assuring that nothing was left behind. The RN nurses woke me up after surgery in the recovery room telling me I'm discharged and to get dressed to leave immediately with no follow up medications or anything. 12/19/21 Early morning I had to come back to the ER because "Dr Folkestad Bradley" didn't do the job right and left parts of the placenta in my uterus.. I was in so much pain and bleeding uncontrollably. They didn't want to tell me directly that the job was not done correctly so they kept me over night give all types of drugs to stop the excessive bleeding and contractions. "Assuring" this time everything was flushed out before leaving.... The whole experience overall was a nightmare but I'm more disappointed in the dr not doing his job right. If I didn't detect that something was wrong I would have died for the uncontrollable bleeding and the clogs that I had due to parts of the placenta being left during surgery. I mean we trust these people with our lives right we are supposed to feel secure coming to hospitals knowing they have our best interests and will treat us correctly. Unfortunately that's not always the case people be careful in these hospitals and ask LOTS of questions regarding what they doing and what they have done to you! read more

I had my child here 2 years ago. My nurses and doctor were amazing but one of the African American receptionist was awfully rude. Keep in mind I was in labor and this receptionist told me to be quiet because it wasn't that "serious" that I just started labor. I got sent to the back and I was 8cm. My mom was in so much pain and they took 45 mins just to see her for vitals. She was the only person in the waiting room, when we got back there they took her a x-ray and a ultrasound but it took so long and she was in so much pain we left and went to a different one. The staff were rude and not saying much. 2/5 do better read more
