Saw some great ratings and reviews on google for San Juan so decided to give it a try after getting informed over the phone. Staff was welcoming and professional and had my mom's information for her appointment. The price for the physical was 280.00 and this included a full panel lab work. My mom was assisted by nurse practitioner Kim Mijung. My mom is a Spanish speaker and this place has plenty of translators who assist the nurse practitioner with translation and data entry prior to meeting the NP. Basic questions were asked and the medicine list was asked again by Kim even though they were provided and noted earlier by medical assistant/ translator. Instead of handing the bag to my mom they made her get off the patient table to retrieve the bag and re provide the medication so it can be noted. Keep in mind they knew she was there for knee pain at least offer to hand the bag? The whole physical with Kim lasted about 10-15 min. I don't think that enough time to know your patient and write it off as a yearly physical. Typically they try to get to know you and explain what they are doing and why. When asked if there was any questions my mom asked about the rash and knee pain and if she had any suggestions. The rash Kim said it goes and comes and was dismissive but said she would prescribe medication and for the kneee she didn't even bother to look at it and immediately said it was due to old age. My mom is 63 not 103 at least take a peek at it and pretend you care? Lab work results are not sent via email or text; you must go back and have them read to you for 45.oo extra dollars. They did provide a complimentary mammogram which we schedule during next visit on lab results day. Pros: easy to set up appointment; translators; complimentary mammogram and in house labs. Good for maybe basic needs on a healthy person or very young person with little or no medical concerns. Cons: no doctor; you are treated by NP with maybe not enough experience on treating patients and lacking empathy. NP does not adequate time to understand the patient and provide productive treatment or plan of treatment. Dismissive on pain and concerns. I noticed that the patients were mostly immigrants and who spoke Spanish like my mom. Let's remember that all healthcare is sacred and we must treat each patient as precious as each one of them is loved and wanted to be cared for with the out most dignity and respect.

Osteopathic training is more holistic, viewing the body as an integrated organism, not simply the sum of its parts. Unfortunately, many Osteopaths disregard their functional training and essentially practice as M.D.s. I wanted a real, practicing Osteopath, not an Osteopath in name-only, so I Googled "Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy Las Vegas" and Dr Wirtz's website was displayed at the top of the search results. OMT is a little-known physical therapy, conceptually similar to Chiropractic, but practiced by an actual medical doctor, not a Chiropractor. I visited an Osteopath years ago when I was experiencing some back pain due to a sports injury and he fixed my back in one session. Currently, I have no pain, but I theorized any D.O. who actively practices OMT is a real D.O., not someone who settled because he couldn't get into an M.D. school. I'm pleased to report my research paid off. Everything about my visit to Dr. Wirtz's office was five stars. His office staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and the wait time was minimal. Dr. Wirtz himself was amazing. He's obviously extremely competent, but beyond that, he communicated with me in an adult manner, without even a hint of the condescension you get from so many doctors. After reviewing my medical history, he ordered a bunch of tests. Without getting into specifics, I can say that some of the blood tests he ordered are consistent with what I'd expect from a progressive-thinking doctor, who's concerned with prevention, not just treatment. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased and recommend Dr. Wirtz highly!

However, I can say now that I have met with Dr. Wirtz, twice, that I am very pleased he is my doctor. His staff is very friendly and they call you personally to remind you of appointments. (it's not an animated system) The wait time is longer than I would care for, but when the doctor does finally, come through the door, he is genuine, personable and puts all feelings of nervousness at ease. He patiently listened to my concerns, and I never felt rushed or hurried.
