So Micah came over and presented several options and discussed which ones were SMUD rebate eligible. I went with the bundled (and SMUD rebate eligible) AC + Heat Pump combo. Micah and his son (already an industry veteran and very capable) arrived bright and early (e.g. right on time) and 10 hours later - old units removed, new units installed. The big surprise was *nothing* - e.g. none of the clunks grinds, whooshes, strained sounds of the old system. Just nice cool air evenly distributed throughout my 3/2 bungalow. The old system kept the master suite at temperature, but ran hot summers and cold winters in the kid's rooms at the other end of the house. Remember folks, true power doesn't roar - it whispers. I requested a checkup on my existing solar system. A young man while he was polite just looked at…read morethe inverter and checked the voltage and said everything was OK. He did not even go on the roof to check the panels. He said if I wanted more wattage to add new panels. I had the inverter and panels checked by other companies and they said the inverter was not the correct inverter so it should be replaced. There were other problems with the wiring on of the solar panels. He charged me $285 and left. I called the office to explain and person said she would have the owner call me right back. 2 days now and no call. I have had 2 companies explain to me why it's the wrong inverter.

The problem was diagnosed almost immediately and repair completed quickly. However the story doesn't end there! The initial repair led to the discovery of a secondary issue -- which was slightly delayed because we left on vacation during the first repair, so when we got back to a hot apartment they once again made us feel like we were top priority. When Jim couldn't reproduce the issue we had the second time, he even came back outside of his scheduled route to do a double check and was then able to diagnose the problem and complete a repair! During this whole process they received a lot of phone calls from me--enough for me to annoy them definitely, but they never came across annoyed. Gabrielle was always friendly and super helpful over the phone, and if she missed my call I never went more than 15-20 minutes without receiving a call back. In the same way, Jim was super friendly and responsive on-sight and explained what was going on in all of his work I would highly recommend this business and if I ever need HVAC service in the future, I know who I'm calling.

Ok, we are in the middle of a brutal heat wave so I didn't expect a call back so fast let alone having someone available to come over so fast AND fix the AC, but that's exactly what happened. An hour and $230 later and the problem was diagnosed and repaired and my house is now pumping out the most amazing cold air I've ever experienced (ok the cooler section at Costco might be a bit cooler but still).
