Kind of my personal hidden gem. This place is good in every way. Each and every item that I've ordered from their menu, including their American and Salvadoran food's, has been excellent. The food is always just the right amount of seasoned, juicy, cooked right, consistent, abundant and always on time. The counter person is also very polite and diligent with her work. I can't remember a time that I've gone in and not seen her accomplishing four tasks at once while keeping her cool. The restaurant itself is clean and well kept from my experience. I didn't see any obvious abuelas in the house during my meal, but whoever's whipping up the food in the kitchen is absolutely not messing around. For a very reasonable price, you get massive portions of fantastic Mexican food. In particular, the suizas might have been my favorite rendition of enchiladas I've ever had in the city. We were warned upon ordering that the sauce is pretty spicy, and no lies were told. My nose was sweating just two bites in, but the heat didn't detract from the flavor. We also ordered some margaritas to wash down our grub. I probably wouldn't repeat that decision in the future, but I've certainly had worse. It turns out that this neighborhood seems to offer a wide array of highly regarded Mexican cuisine. I'm definitely up for trying out some of the other nearby venues if I'm back out this direction; thus far, I can heartily vouch for Abuela Antonia. read more

My sister has been telling me about this Mexican spot in my neighborhood. I like the aesthetics in here. For a small shop it definitely does the job. We started with the tortilla chips with guac and pico de gallo. The crunch on the chips was there and the guac tasted fresh. I got the steak burrito and it was loaded. The banana milkshake I had was blended well and sweet. I tried a good amount of everything and this spot is legit. Definitely a hidden gem. Their guacamole is really good. I also ordered enchiladas and they are not good. The presentation was great, but the food was.. The chicken inside wasn't good at all. I ended up throwing it away. Rice and beans was good. The enchiladas were horrible tho. Small family run Mexican restaurant in Ocean Hill. They have a few tables that can seat 5 and a raised counter with high backed stools. Friendly staff of 2 or 3 that are kept busy with those who choose to dine in, takeout orders and phone orders. So pack patience as it will take a bot of time but not a horrible wait. I ordered a mojito which was decent while I waited for my order which consisted of Carnitas taco and a roja chicken enchiladas. I was warned the enchiladas w were spicy AND they were hotter than I expected. Ao if you don't like eat order a different sauce. But flavorful and a Large portion and corn tortillas. While good my favorite was the taco. For me personally I would stixk to the tacoa unless I was sharing as the enchiladas was a bit too much for me. read more

This is a small, quaint, clean restaurant. The décor is simple, with natural materials, and fairly open despite its small size. Beautiful crosses adorn the walls and add to the charm of the restaurant. It's an ideal place for a quiet lunch (or maybe it gets busy at noon or for dinner - I stopped in around 2:30pm). As for the food: just meh. I had a small order of rice and black beans. The rice was nicely presented, but tasted a bit burnt. The black beans were good, but were also overcooked. When I asked for hot sauce, I was told that they only have mild - that was disappointing. Some Cholula or even some Crystal's would have taken up a notch my otherwise semi-bland meal. To be fair, the rice did have a few bits of parsley and cilantro that added flavor, but overall it was lacking. The place doesn't have a TV, so it wouldn't be a good place to watch a game. If you're in the neighborhood and just want some light fare, this spot may be a good place for you. I enjoyed its calm ambience, soft Mexican ballads in the background, and ability to stave off my pangs of hunger. Will I be back? Probably not - there's too much great competition for amazing Mexican food in our fair ciudad. read more

I almost never order delivery in my neighborhood just because there's not a whole lot close by. But last week I was so couch locked with fatigue and starving I knew I had to do something. When I moved to Ocean Hill/Brownsville a few months ago, finding a go-to restaurant was obviously a priority. Abuela Antonia was one of the highest rated spots, so I had to check it out. Well, they didn't let me down. Their nachos are massive (great value for the price), their fajitas are hefty and flavorful, and they make a mean mojito. You also can't go wrong with a burrito or enchiladas. One time, I ordered food for a group, and I didn't realize that there was pork in one dish. I was ready to pay for a replacement, but they were happy to remake it even though it was my fault for not being more aware of my friend's dietary restrictions. If you're in the area or within range for delivery, you should absolutely check it out. Abuela Antonia may not be as fancy or instagrammable as some other spots, but it's easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn. read more

I enjoyed the Nacho Supreme, which was huge and the Tostada Sandwich, both amazing and will definitely order again. I don't usually order Taco's from any restaurant and this was a reminder of why. I was craving tacos like crazy lol. I ordered from here for pickup and i got the abuela nachos and three tacos--one pastor, one beef and carne. Wow! The nachos are soooo bigggg and flavorful. The chicken was seasoned well and everything was so yummy. I could only tackle one eighth of it and one taco. Both were delicious and the sauce on the side sealed the deal. I'm beyond full and will have tacos for at least 3 more days. The price was on point and i will go back. I wish it was a tad bit closer but it's okay because i travel for FOOD! Lol. Food could have been better prepared, the little cuts of beef were hard and tacos sloppy made.

I was driving by and decided to stop in and I'm happy that I did. Since it was my first time, I ordered two tacos - Al Pastor and Carnitas. Sooooo good ! The meats are seasoned - a balanced between sweet and smoky. The verde salsa is an accoutrement that isn't needed but definitely compliments the dish. On this particular day, the lady in the front was sweet as was the chef. Working hard to pump out orders (pick up, UberEats) while attending to the guests in the restaurant. Very quiet and calm atmosphere if you sit in and dine. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend the steak tacos! Super tasty with options of red and green salsa. The shrimp burrito was also good. The only thing I probably wouldn't order is the horchata. There are many ways to make horchata and I just prefer the other types. Ordered Quesadillas through grub hub. The order came fairly quick, which is a plus. My Quesadilla was the 4 cheese and came with shreded lettuce and tomato.
