I ordered takeout from here on Friday night via Grubhub. I've never had them before, and I like that there's an option to get a small sub that's around 3-4inches. I ended up doing the small subs on 4 different specialty subs they had, so I was able to have a sample and see which one I like more for future reference. Though it was probably a pain for the sandwich builder. I ended up trying their spicy Cajun chicken, firehouse meatball, Italian, and the turkey bacon ranch. I did wheat bread, and I also removed mustard from all 4 sandwiches -- it normally comes with the sandwich. Their wheat bread tasted a bit like a sweet roll, I didn't really like the hint of sweetness, as I typically prefer plain bread. After having all 4 sandwiches, I can't say I have a favorite, but I definitely wouldn't do the turkey bacon ranch. It's not my sip of tea, it tasted like condiments made up more than half of the sandwich. The spicy Cajun chicken gave me a kick, but it wasn't overbearing which I can appreciate. The meatballs were delicious, and they gave managed to give me at least 2.5 meatballs despite having such a small piece of the sandwich. If I have to pick, the Italian would be my first choice as it's a blending of all of the ingredients together, but spicy Cajun chicken and the firehouse meatballs are also a great option. The order was accurately made, and they followed all of my instructions despite me asking for a lot. I'd recommend this location to anyone in the area looking for a sub sandwich. read more

First of all, the food was GREAT! Maybe the best sub sandwich place I've ever been to! My dad and I got the Turkey Bacon Ranch and BBQ Cuban. We give both of them 9.5s out of 10. The service was very nice, they were very respectful. They were even very nice to a guy pacing around the restaurant. We will be coming back often. Ps. Food is usually good. This particular location however seems to be frustrated and lack hospitality. Another thing is, sometimes the meat comes out cold or not warm enough, so I asked if it could be steamed twice. Who I assume to be part owner with a lazy attitude said no he cannot, paused then said it's a liability? It's a liability to double steam the meat? So what would they do during rush hour? After first moving to Oak Lawn I discovered this location. The staff were friendly and attentive. The service was completed in a timely manner and what attracted me to the location initially was that the line was not long at all. Wait time, in the few visits I've had, has not been more than 10 minutes. This is even while the establishment was packed. My favorite sub has been the Hook & Ladder. I will never step foot in this place again! I don't think they like black people. I visited the Oak Lawn location a few years ago. I'm standing in line with two white customers in front of me. The guy behind the register takes their order but when I approached the register he says, "Hey buddy! I'll be right with you." He then proceeds to the soda machine, gets a drink, and starts his break. You telling me, you couldn't wait one minute to take my order before you start your break? Very unprofessional! I've frequented the location in Orland Park for the better part of two years. Always good service there so when the Oak Lawn location opit was a no brainer for our family and I to come in and check it out. The decor is nice. That's where the praise ends. I've never waited 35 minutes for a sub sandwhich before and I have no intention in doing it ever again. I understand if the staff is new (as demonstrated by the girl at the register asking another how to do things on the register) but that isn't the customer's (our) problem. Half an hour for a sand which is unacceptable. This isn't even to mention that 2/6 came out either topped wrong or simply being the wrong sandwhich all together. I'll be back because the sandwiches are great, but it won't be for awhile. I advise someone, anyone, to come in and do a bit more training. read more

BEWARE PLEASE!!! Terrible experience and treatment. Had a offer for me and my husband. I was sick with Covid and called ahead on 1/10 @ 5:17pm to let them know that I couldn't come in out of fear of passing it on. I asked if my husband could bring my phone and his up to the store and was told yes as long as it's on separate phones. My husband get to the store and is told at checkout that he couldn't do that after he was explicitly told he could. Another associate even stated that they overheard the phone conversation and confirmed that the associate we talked to earlier in fact did state it was ok. My husband was rudely told no. Once my husband returned home empty handed after making a pointless trip, I proceeded to call the store and asked to speak to its a manager at 6:06pm. A young women answered the phone and stated there was nothing they could do and that the guy was new. My thing is that we were sent off and made a pointless trip and your saying there's nothing you can do to correct that? That was totally unfair. I told her how rude my husband was treated and she didn't even address it or apologize for that kind of behavior. We were completely wrote off. I walk up to counter and not even greeted in a friendly manner by the so called "owner". Needless to say not impressed with his customer service skills He has a very nasty attitude and rolled his eyes as people came in. Definitely need someone friendlier as the first face you meet not the condescending owner. Only reason I gave it two stars was for the simple fact that the girls making the actual subs were friendly and nice. I prefer fresh food over fast food like McDonalds and Taco Bell. Because of this I really like to get submarine sandwiches. I've always liked Subway, Potbelly, and Jimmy Johns. Firehouse is still new to the area. I've been there three times now and that will probably be it. The subs are good but very, very, expensive. It's also difficult to order. Every sub has a silly fire name to it. I'd like to order a turkey sub but that is not possible unless you call it by the silly fire name attached to it. It also takes some time to get your food. At Subway you pick your ingredients and they ring it up. Here you order, pay, and sit down for sometimes as long as ten minutes. It's small inside so if you must come here get it to go. read more

When I think "firehouse" i definitely conjure up images of huge chili pots and hungry men enjoying huge portions. This place does not evoke any of those homely, comfort food feelings. I ordered the signature turkey bacon ranch with chili. The new staff clearly needs practice, ticket times are long. The chili was insulting, it clearly came out of a can and was utterly flavorless. Why is there a wall of premium hot sauces when the chili itself has no flavor. Picking up 2 bottles of Daves insanity sauce would've been the better buy than this meal.
