This is a hole in the wall neighborhood Mexican/texmex joint. They have Taco Tuesdays which are probably the best bang for your buck, but the regular menu prices are very reasonable. They have a salsa bar with 8 or so complimentary salsas available. The staff are friendly. The dining room is in the back and is bigger than you'd think based on the size of the storefront. They also have a couple patio tables available when the weather is nice. read more

Best mushroom tacos I've ever had!!! I'm vegetarian, so have tried all kinda of veggie tacos. The hongo (mushroom) tacos here were so good. They came out steaming hot, with big meaty chunks of mushroom. The corn tortillas tasted freshly made. They also have a nice salsa bar. Everything was so fresh. This place is awesome! No doubt about it, this is the best Mexican in Seattle. Family owned & operated by the most hospitable family. Out of hand delicious house made salsa bar- I could drink them all- & I have! Killer 10$ giant scratch margaritas. And a vegan and vegetarian menu!!! Oh, and for extra flaire and awesomeness, they have Salvadoran pupusas with legit curtito that I dream about. Really really good Mexican food in Greenwood! The best I've had in Seattle for sure. The salsa bar was amaaaaaazing, with 8 salsas available! Two of them were so good that we refilled our little cups. Definitely get the chips so you can try all the salsas. The flavors are authentic and the portions are huge! Prepared to be full. The veggie chile relleno was big and well-cooked, but I wasn't a fan of the earthy veggies inside and the sauce wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. Dropping a star for this, but the gorditas and other dishes looked better! The staff is super kind. They sell their salsas to-go too! I'd definitely come back. The menu is a bit pricey, but it's good Mexican food in Seattle and the portions are so big that it's like two meals in one! :) read more

I went for lunch and it was disgusting. I had the taco plate. The rice and beans wasn't good and I had steak tacos which are crumbles of meat was so disgusting. I just left it there and I told him that I couldn't eat that and he was like OK they're not concerned about accommodating your customers or having good food. read more

Folks were very nice. Food was very average in my opinion. Got the pupusas- which I thought were on the dry side and had a really thick masa layer and not very much filling. (Saved by a lot of salsa.) The rice that came with it was very bland as well. Husband got the Torta which came on what was an American deli sub looking bread. Definitely firmer and a thicker bread, compared to what we've seen at most other places. The inside was pretty tasty and they have a nice selection of salsas which is always nice. Decent spot but definitely not on our top mexican food spots in seattle. read more

I really think the only thing keeping this place from being packed is the aesthetic/low lighting. The food is SO good. Seriously. You get fresh piping hot chips and a full salsa bar with some of the best salsas I've found out here. I wish I could buy some of them in jars to take home. The tortillas are made in house. I've come here a handful of times now and ordered something different each time - each one, an absolute banger. Also, hands down, the best guacamole on seattle! Fight me on that. The food was amazing and I highly recommend this place. At most restaurants the rice and beans really aren't great but here, the rice was fluffy and both rice and beans were quite tasty. My birria tacos were really good and my parents enjoyed the carne asada. We're in town from the San Francisco Bay Area and I'm glad we found them. We went to Abuelita's for the first time today, and it was a great experience. We just moved from California, and we were in desperate need of good Mexican food. The carne asada and al pastor burritos were tasty and a large portion. The salsas were on point with spice level. The tres leches cake reminded me of my mom's cake at home. Today I went here for lunch and had the chilaquiles verde. If this is your dish you need to go there immediately! I've eaten here many times and the food is always incredible but today it was spectacular! The flavors are intense and perfectly balanced and it comes with a side of the best refried beans you will ever eat. It's garnished with little chunks of onion that provide a welcome crunch. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Seattle that I've tried so far. Everything that we've ordered from here (either takeout or eating in the restaurant) is so incredibly good. Their cali boy burrito (ask for pork belly!) and their enchiladas are perfection. Definitely worth making a stop here, this restaurant is a Greenwood neighborhood gem! read more

Abuelitas is delish. Came here after phinneywood art walk and got (BIG !) chicken empanadas and mushroom empanadas. Corn tortillas fried to perfection. Did not skimp on cheese. Salsa bar is beautiful. Crema and guac with both orders, and refried beans with my kiddos tacos, yum! read more

Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

There's parking right in front of the restaurant! We arrived around noon on a weekday and had no trouble getting a table. I ordered the Parmesan fries and shrimp pesto penne, and both were delicious. I also had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was smooth and paired nicely with the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed everything, and the portions were big enough that I had leftovers to bring home. When the business burned down awhile back due to an electrical fire I was so sad and couldn't be more delighted that they were able to rebuild in Greenwood.

They have an extensive menu (tortas, burritos, tacos, soups, and more) with what seems to be over 20 meat options. How do they have this many meat options? Where are they preparing all of it? After sweating out the menu for a bit, I elected for the carnitas burrito (carnitarito) and added avocado inside. Interestingly enough, they don't seem to have guacamole here. Anyone who eats with me knows that I'm not big on avocado slices, but they do a solid job of mashing it up here anyways. This meat vessel was the ideal size. It was hefty, but held everything in perfectly, which is an essential trait for food trucks. For far too long, the burrito-verse has been crowded with: 1) burritos that are too small, or, 2) burritos that are massive, but are falling apart / dripping. Neither of those will do when you're eating a burrito on the move. I just got a new car (big time brag), so I'm not gonna eat a burrito in it anyways, but if I chose to do so it would be a rito from Anita's. The burrito itself had awesome flavor. It's really simple in its makeup, but the carnitas had big, bold, taste and were expert-level juicy. My favorite part was how generous they were with their salsas. All-too-often a burrito joint will only give you one, maybe two sauces. Anita hooked it up with 3. The sauce play was unparalleled. I was dipping. I was mixing and matching. I was combining flavor profiles and colors. A high quality burrito experience, no doubt. Anita's also has an enticing breakfast menu.
