Delicious, home style food in a cute spot! We got the crab sincronizada and enchiladas Rojas with pork. Both very balanced and we left full. I liked that the crab flavor wasn't too "fishy" and that there wasn't too much sauce to overpower the protein. On the other hand the enchiladas were smothered/saucy which is what we were craving :)

My friends and I came here on a Friday night. We had a group of 5 and only had to wait about 20 minutes. The restaurant is pretty small and was busy so we were happy how fast they called us! We expected a long wait, we walked over to the close brewery and grabbed a drink while waiting so just plan ahead and expect to wait a bit as tables are limited. Once we were seated, service was great. Friendly and quick. We all got the house margaritas, it wasn't my favorite but some people in the group loved it so it's just up to personal preference. I got the shredded beef enchiladas with red sauce and thought they were great. I didn't love the potatoes on the side I would have preferred the traditional rice and beans over that but they weren't bad. My friend got fish tacos and she said they were amazing. Another friend had the mole enchiladas and she really enjoyed them. We also got the queso with chorizo that comes with house made corn tortillas and that was so good! Probably the best part of the meal! Definitely a cute neighborhood spot and we will absolutely come back again.

Food was SO GOOD!!!! The chips were so yummy and the carne asada quesadilla and birria tacos were so filling - we had leftovers that were most def eaten later. Service was great! Ambiance was spectacular- loved the theme and decor.

My first time having Mexican food in Seattle, as a native from FL. We were greeted first thing and sat and received a bowl of chips and salsa within a span of 5 mins! Amazing service, the guys were very kind and attentive. I ordered the carne asada and my wife ordered the crab sincronizada and a sangria. Everything tasted fresh, the tortillas are made in house (you can even see em do it!) The restaurant is very cute and small, if you're lucky and it's not taken, nab the cute nook by the bar! It's a perfect place for a little date night. Overall pretty good for Mexican food in Seattle.

Alebrijes is closer to 2.5 stars for me, but I'm rounding up to a 3. I heard they mix Costco tortilla chips in, which was confirmed when I saw the basket of chips. Refills cost extra, which doesn't make sense because they're not even the good, fresh kind of chips. I didn't attempt to get our chips refilled, and the server didn't ask if we wanted any either, which they normally do at other Mexican restaurants (even when refills aren't free). The salsa didn't have that good of a flavor, so everything already seemed underwhelming and disappointing to begin with. When you order two tacos a la carte, you can't mix and match different tacos. You have to order 2 of the same kind. I tried both the roasted pork and shredded beef tacos. Again, the flavors were underwhelming. The pork one was super greasy. The tacos are SO much better at Gracia, tacos & beer, and Santa Fe. At least the tacos at other restaurants come with other flavors / ingredients that are more unique. The tacos at Alebrijes are basically just cooked meat with pico and some sauce on top. There was barely any cheese, so it's almost like they might as well leave that out. The prices on the menu aren't updated either, so the 2 tacos are $1 more at $10.95, and the tacos plate is $2 more at $15.95. Who knows what else is priced wrong on their menu, but nothing looks worth their price. I could do without the guacamole and tiny salad, if that would lower the prices for the tacos because they end up being close to $6 each before taxes and tips. Tacos that cost almost $6 each better have more going for them.

This is a solid Mexican restaurant in the Seattle area. It's quite small so if you do go during peak dinner hour, you will have to wait. The enchiladas are always tasty and it comes with a side of diced potatoes which are delicious. The fresh flour tortillas are great. Staff are friendly. Parking can be tough. Come hungry!

This was a small place and there was a 40 min wait before getting a table. They don't have reservations over phone. We got our table in 45 min and ordered enchiladas ranchero with pork and also asked for the spicy salsa on the side. They also gave a serving of chips and salsa complementary. The enchiladas were great and the spicy salsa also tasted really nice. Though I did not like the salsa served with chips nor the chips were that good. But worth a visit once. The servers and the host were very welcoming

came here at around 8pm on a Friday night & we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated for a party of 2. the staff were all so friendly! we got the carne asada & catch of the day (cod) tacos and both were amazing!

This is a really cute little place with a lot of charm. The decor is nice and cosy and the stove in the middle of the room gives it a very homely feel. The food wasn't great though. The chips were very thin and as a result were kinda stappy/sharp to eat. The salsa was very unusual, nothing at all like traditional salsa (but that's ok) but it was thin and hard to eat on the chips without it dripping everywhere (or maybe I;m just a messy eater). The Enchiladas Verde was fine, it came with potatoes on the side that were very nicely done and extremely tasty. Carne Asada was a big disappointment. Overall the non-meat items on the plate were cooked, with the grilled onions in particular being stellar. But the meat itself was very thin and a rather small portion for $31. As a result of the meat being so thin it was overcooked and by the time I was half way through it was tough and like eating shoe leather. House Sangria could do with improving too. It tasted mostly of peach and little else. Their own-brand Mexican larger was very good. Overall this was a disappointing meal given the good reviews I've seen on here and elsewhere. I will give it another try but will definitely be ordering something different next time.

We heard about this place from some reviews and had to check it out. We went on a date night and showed up at 4:30 when they opened on a Friday. It seems like a friendly neighborhood spot from the exterior, and we loved the ambiance on the inside. It's small and charming, love the Alebrijes they used in decor. We got the 2 seater in the nook and it's definitely the best seat in the house, would recommend coming early to grab it. The service was fantastic and everyone is friendly. We loved our house margs, they add a light hint of pomegranate which I liked, and it didn't taste strong but definitely was strong. The house salsa was unique and delicious, not run of the mill restaurant salsa. My wife got the veggie enchiladas and enjoyed them, I got the pastor tacos and thought they were good. The best item was the flan, I only had one bite and it was great, my wife somehow devoured the entire rest of it because it was addicting and I was rambling. I would recommend and will be coming back! Next time I'll bring the kids.

Camarones Mojo de Ajo, $13 – 5 Stars

Alebrijes Kitchen is a fairly new, located in the Crown Hill neighborhood, north of Ballard. Their philosophy is original Mexican recipes but with a twist of sourcing local ingredients. Note that this is not the neighborhood Mexican restaurant with four or more pages in their menu. Instead, their menu is more focused, down to two pages only, plus a few items on the little chalk board. We had no problems finding dishes that attracted our attention. Every menu item sounded thoughtful, which I appreciate much more than a giant menu. Prices are within expectations, after considering inflation. One staff member was more helpful than another, who seems to struggle with language. Eventually, we understood each other. Parking appears to be street parking only (we didn't wander to the far side of the building to double check). It was easy enough to find street parking nearby. The Food: Camarones Mojo de Ajo, $13 - 5 Stars Menu: Classically spiced Mexican Shrimp, sauteed in butter, garlic, and chipotle salsa These shrimps are DELICIOUS with a slightly spicy, slightly buttery flavor. Our waiter says this is his favorite dish on the menu. Cod (Fish of the Day) Tacos, $17.95 - 5 Stars Generous pieces of non-fried and well-seasoned cod pack these tacos. With bits of veggies, drizzled with cream sauce, dusted with cheese, these three tacos are perfect. I ate one as-is for original taste. Then I opted to add hot sauce for the other two. Both methods are delicious. The menu said this dish is served with cabbage slaw. Then the server returned to asked if I want potatoes, or rice and beans. I was confused for a bit and just said potatoes. Hubby ate them for me. :P Birria Quesadilla, $16.95 - 5 Stars This was a special on the chalk board. I think they should make this a menu item. This is a very beefy quesadilla, well stuffed with seasoned, shredded beef. It also comes with a cup of dipping sauce that has more beef in it. The dipping sauce looked oily, but it was good to drizzle a bit on the quesadilla, especially with the beef. This is a hearty dish! FYI the first basket of chips and queso sauce is included. Additional costs more. That's ok. The chips were kinda cold, so we didn't finish the first basket.

I've been wanting to eat here for a while. I drive by it daily, and everyone raves about how good it is. I was excited to see that people were actually taking to go boxes after their meals. I was thinking wow good thing I came starving! We only had to wait about 10 minutes, and this was on a Friday night. They don't have a lot of tables in there, so it was a nice surprise that we got in quickly. The atmosphere is so cozy, I just loved it! We got to sit right by the fireplace which was a nice touch. We ordered two house made margaritas which were delicious and on point! Don't hesitate to order one. The green salsa was so yummy I wanted to ask for a huge bowl of it! I couldn't decide what to order so I got the pork tacos, and my husband had the pork enchiladas. Best of both worlds! They both had amazing flavor to make your mouth have a dance party! We both ate our whole meals, so I guess no take home boxes for us. Maybe everyone else is a small eater that we saw, or we are just pigs. I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes.

I loved alebrijes! It's probably our favorite Mexican restaurant we've been to so far in Seattle. It's fun inside, and the food is great! We got the house margarita and strawberry margarita both of which were good! I couldn't taste the tequila at all in the strawberry one, and they put a ton of strawberry in it. We got the queso with chorizo which we loved. It comes with four warm tortillas. I would recommend saving some of the chips for the queso too! I got the enchiladas verdes with pork, and my partner got the Birria taco special. Both were super flavorful, and the meat was really tender in both! The portions were enormous. I definitely only ate 1/3 of my enchiladas, which just means I get to eat more of this delicious food later! Don't forget to check out the specials written on a chalkboard above the kitchen!

The Pollo Asado was good, so were the rice and beans that came with it. We asked them if they had a house hot sauce and we were given a spicy salsa that we loved. We finished our meal with a Choco Flan. It was delicious and huge, we couldn't finish it. Our second time we decided to try different items, and got Quesadilla Fritas, and Pescado Frito. I'm usually a fan of a smaller, curated menu because it suggests care in sourcing and execution. But for us, the execution just didn't land. Everything is served family-style, but the portion sizes didn't justify the price point. We started with the sourdough and butter spread, and it was a letdown right away. The bread was hard as a rock, and the butter--while sounding interesting--came slightly burnt and didn't feel worth $11 for two pieces. Next was the albacore tuna tostada. As someone who travels to Mexico City often, I was genuinely excited for this. But it leaned heavily on avocado, with barely any tuna to balance it out. For $25 and only two tostadas, it felt pretty stingy. The rapini quesadilla sounded promising but ended up tasting mostly like broccolini and mushrooms--nothing that really stood out or justified the dish. We finished with the 21-day dry-aged steak, which, at $59, felt like it should've been a highlight. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. It came out essentially raw, which I didn't mind in theory, but it was incredibly chewy and lacked flavor. It was difficult to cut and even harder to enjoy. The tortillas were nice, and the demi-glaze had potential, but overall it just didn't come together. Even the refried beans on the side were underwhelming--something you could easily find done better at a casual spot. On the bright side, the mezcal margarita with a tajín rim was excellent--well-balanced and probably the highlight of the night. And the service was warm and attentive, which I appreciated. But overall, for the prices and the hype, this place just didn't do it for me. Maybe we ordered wrong, but I've had much better elsewhere. I hate to say it, but I probably won't be back.

They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!

Food and presentation is meh. The neighborhood is absolutely…read moredreadful, and they tack on an automatic 20% "service charge" with or without good service giving you no choice to decide whether or not the service warrants the charge. I own an e-commerce company, just like Amazon, and could you imagine your Amazon order having a 20% "service charge" to help offset labor costs. This is becoming a trend and I'm avoiding eateries that do this.

The only downside was that the food took a while to arrive, which slowed down the experience a bit. Still, the quality and warmth of the dishes make it worth visiting.

Still delicious. Still gluten free friendly and dairy free. Watch out for jalapeños; the seeds are definitely in. Mulled wine -- yum! Agave daiquiri -- strong, interesting, wasn't my fave (didn't finish it). Sangria -- solid! Service: A little more than fine. Friendly. Helpful-ish. Checked in at the beginning but less so by the end both times (when a check in would have been useful). Food comes out quick. Ambiance: Still cute for happy hour, friend meet ups, date nights, etc. Not hurried or rushed. Consider a reservation if you want to be safe. Why 4 stars? It's really 4.5. Honestly, service plus the menu changed in the 2 days I was there, and I missed out on the hot chocolate drink I reeeeallllly wanted. I wish there would have been a heads up that I was getting the last day of the menu. Hope it's not another 3 years before my next visit P y P!
