I'm definitely a sushi connoisseur and live in Huntington Beach, but I decided to give this place a try since it was conveniently located between me and a friend and we were both craving sushi! I'm so glad we did. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, and the specialty rolls did not disappoint. They even have a great buy one specialty roll, get the second 50% off deal, which made it even better. The highlight of our dinner, though, was definitely our server, Kyle! He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and polite, and he gave us some great recommendations. We ended up trying the Jeffrey Roll based on his recommendation, and it was fantastic! I've been here a few times now and it seems to be hit or miss as far as the service goes. I haven't had any complaints about the food though if you get what you order. I sometimes get a free appetizer sometimes I don't. I've seen other tables get it when I didn't, so maybe they are selective. I went in today and got 2 rolls and a miso soup but the miso soup never showed up. It was on the bill but she removed it when I explained I was no longer interested when she gave the bill. My biggest issues with this location is the amount of menus to look at upon arrival. Service is always hit or miss. I can't say I've ever seen the same person taking orders in times I've visited. I do always see the owner or manager sitting at a table but never any interaction with ppl or service. I would say my biggest gripe with this place is when you get your bill to verify your tip amount. The bill gives you suggestions at 18%~22% but they aren't true amounts. I'm good at math and 20% of the bill says say $7 but the real 20% would really say $5.50. I would pay the higher amounts when the service was great but again it's been hit or miss service wise. I will still tip with poor service because ppl still need to live and it's getting harder and harder these days. I came to utilize my resy credit and try out a new sushi restaurant. I'm always on the hunt for a good à la carte place to enjoy a few rolls. the inside had nice decor and it wasn't a super big restaurant but it had good amount of seating. its also pretty dimly lit inside which i do not mind but im sure some other people do. my boyfriend and i ordered the double salmon roll, spicy dragon roll (they have a bogo 50% off deal on the rolls), 2 item bento box with choice of salmon teriyaki and chicken teriyaki, unagi nigiri, salmon belly nigiri, yellowtail belly nigiri, and a spicy salmon inari. i was super excited to try the double salmon roll because i used to order something really similar at my old go to sushi restaurant before they closed. unfortunately the fried shredded onion on top was not as crispy as i had hoped, it was pretty oily and tangled up too. beside the onion topping, the roll itself was good. the salmon portion is great and very fresh. i ended up taking half the roll home and air fried the onion which made it perfectly crisp! the spicy dragon roll was delicious as is, it had great flavor and the pieces were pretty big! i didn't expect to like it as much as i did. the salmon and yellowtail belly sushi were delicious and fresh. the unagi sushi was cold, i wish the chefs would bake it first since eel always tastes better warm. the spicy salmon inari was also tasty and there was a decent amount of fish inside! my boyfriend enjoyed his bento box and ended up taking some chicken teriyaki home. overall, for the amount of food we had, the price and quality for good sushi is hard to beat nowadays. the service was welcoming and there's plenty of parking, we will definitely come again! read more

Too many to go over...it takes time. I can't taste everything. Too many menus. Little confused on the first day. The servers are very friendly. This was our first time eating here, and unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. Our server barely made eye contact, never smiled, and did not make us feel welcomed at all. She never brought the food to our table, and after our food arrived, she never came back to check on us or ask if we needed anything. My kids were thirsty and wanted refills, but our server completely disappeared. After we finished eating, all of our dirty plates were still sitting all over the table, and she never came by to clear them. I was already upset with the service, but then when we were ready to leave, I couldn't even get our check because our server still had not come back. Another server eventually had to help us. What really bothered me was when I went to the restroom and saw a sign asking customers to leave a 5-star review to receive points. I am leaving an honest 1-star review because this was honestly the level of service we received. The owner or management really needs to improve the customer service and make sure employees are attentive to their customers. Going out to eat with my kids should be an enjoyable experience, especially for our first visit. I've been to other Crazy Rock but this is the first time in this location and I think it's one of the best. The sushi staircase is very nice and perfect for celebration. Most sashimi is tender enough compare to high end sushi. Even some random roll plates are very good in my opinion. We ordered some signature menu that have big photo in the menu. I'll start this off by saying we always have great experiences when dining in at the restaraunt .. however , takeout unfortunately has not been great the last 2 times. We ordered 4 house rolls , garlic edamame and sesame chicken. When I got home and opened up the takeout bag , there were 3 house roll containers that had only 6 pieces of sushi each. The only roll that had 8 pieces was the salmon avocado. This is the second time this has happened for takeout... online menu says 8 pieces and we had always received 8 pieces for all house rolls previously. That means we were shorted 6 pieces of sushi between 3 rolls (salmon, and 2 yellow tail) . My wife's garlic edamame was just not good either .... It tasted like they barely cooked the edamame and just threw some garlic on it , heated it in a pan for 15 seconds and served it. It was nothing like when we get it inside the restaurant. It's been some time now since I last reviewed this place and let me tell u, it's no longer the way it was. Service was rushed and servers were rude. You might think it was rushed cause it was busy, but no, it was pretty much the same volume of customers at this hour last time and it was only 1 server on the floor. The servers were rude as they blatantly kept rolling their eyes at a customer bc he was talking loud to his table just trying to enjoy his time. And another time a person came in to pick up food but went to go sit first in the waiting area til a server came to ask for assistance. They made fun of her for going to sit down instead of the customer walking up to them in the middle of the restaurant to ask for their online order. These are just my observations, aside for my table, it just felt like rushed service as they put the entrees down and walk away without tellin me which roll it is. Food has been mid too.
