This company treats it's former customers like dirt. I bought an AC Unit from this company in 2015. I was given a 10 year warranty on my system. Recently my compressor went out on my unit. I called them immediately as it was 85 in my house already and I have 2 small children who were already uncomfortable. They told me the soonest they could have someone out was more than 24 hours after my call. I had to find someone to come out sooner. I would have thought since it was an emergency and a prior customer, I might have got a little better treatment then that. I wish the problems stopped there. AC Guys put in my warranty information wrong. The person I hired needed that paperwork to get the part and ended up installing the wrong part because the paperwork was wrong. When I called AC Guys, they fixed the warranty information and it was still incorrect. They have since corrected that. However, I am now out $2500 because of their error. I have asked several times for the owner Tommy to call me to work out a solution. He has been avoiding me and the Office Manager is refusing to see not only my problem but also how this whole thing is their fault. She is also not wanting to give me a solution either. A friend of mine was going to sell her condo and she knew the AC was not working but didn't know the problem. She paid someone to diagnose it. He suggested it was the line set. In a second floor condo, that is a complicated and expensive thing to replace. So I suggested that we bring in AC Guys for another opinion, as I have used them before. They charged 1/3rd the price and told me what the issue was but did suggest, as the system was 20 years old, it would be more cost effective to replace it. I didn't have to meet with anyone. I simply left a check and key. they took care of it all. Even scheduled the county inspector. Here is an abbreviated timeline of events of my experience with AC Guys. * Saturday, November 5th - I received an error on my thermostat that it lost connection with the network. AC Guys came out and indicated the outdoor motherboard needed to be replaced. * Monday, November 7th -A different technician from AC Guys picked up the mother board and came to install it. After installing the new board and calling tech support, the technician could not get the new board to work properly. At some point, he noticed some wires weren't connected properly. He came to the conclusion that the original board was still good. He took off the new board and put the old board back on. The system still did not work at this point. He indicated that the issue was with the thermostat and that the thermostat needed to be replaced. * Wednesday, November 9th - AC Guys came out and put the new thermostat on. Immediately the system connected, the outdoor unit started running and the system began to cool. AC Guys charged me $735.00 for the new thermostat and labor. The unit worked for 5-6 hours when I got a new error that the thermostat lost connection with the heat pump and that an outdoor sensor needed to be set up. * Friday, November 11th - The technician came back to diagnose the problem. After taking one look at the outdoor motherboard. He indicated the board is now burned/fried and will need to be replaced. At this point, I lost all confidence in AC Guys and contacted another company to resolve the issue. AC Guys were at my residence four times over the course of a week. There was no sense of urgency or consideration that I had been without AC for a week. My AC was out a total of 9 days and it would have been out longer if I had not used a competitor to resolve it. AC Guys improperly diagnosed the issue at the initial visit on 11/05. This caused excessive delay and also ended up costing me $1,100 for a motherboard to be replaced that did not originally need to be replaced. When AC Guys put the old mother board back on, they did not install it properly. The system worked for 5-6 hours before the board getting too hot and burning out. There is an obvious black mark where this occurred. Whether it was due to improperly reconnecting the board, not using new thermal paste or another reason, I believe AC Guys is responsible for the board burnout. I reached out to AC Guys directly following my experience. On 11/15/2022 I shared the above timeline by email with AC Guys. I requested reimbursement in the amount of $1,100 for the cost and labor to have the motherboard changed that was working fine before they reinstalled it causing it to overheat/burn out. I received a response on 11/15/2022 that AC Guys received my concerns and would pass it on to the owner. I did not receive a response so on 11/28/2022 I sent a follow up email regarding my request for reimbursement. I received a response the same day that my email was on the owner's desk and that he should be in by the end of the week to review. I did not receive a response so on 12/09/2022 I followed up again. I received a response the same day that the owner was overseeing a job and hasn't been in the office. It's been over a month since I reached out with my complaint and request for reimbursement. It is clear they do not plan to remedy the situation. read more

I called AC Guys because they came out the same day. That was the only thing that is positive about this company. My AC outside unit was leaking Freon, so the service guy closed the valve, put in Freon, charged $140 ($75 for service fee, $65 for Freon) and left. Two weeks later, the AC was not cooling again. We called Del-Air this time. The service guy was much more courteous, and thoroughly examined the leaking part. The same place was leaking Freon. He told me the valve should have been replaced, not just closed. There were also two valves that were leaking, AC Guys only closed one. How unprofessional and what a wasted of money. I've had the worst luck in the past with AC companies and have grown very skeptical over the years. I contacted this company to assess my system that had been struck by lightning. They kindly assisted me through the entire process of dealing with the insurance and properly installing a new unit in a timely manner (as this did happen in mid August). Additionally, my previous AC company had done an extremely poor job installing my last unit which was only 5 years old. Not only did the install look poor from the beginning, but I had later come to find that they hadn't taken the necessary steps to obtain the permits, notify an inspector, or provide me with the proper paperwork that I would need to register the unit they had installed. On top of that...the poor installation had caused mold to grow inside my duct work and they had used improper wiring which, AC Guys informed me, was a fire hazard. AC Guys walked me through their installation and helped me develop an argument to present to the previous company that would ask for them to clean up the mess that they had created...or pay AC Guys to do it. My argument to them was successful and that company is scheduled to come out to fumigate my ducts and clean them at no cost to me....for a mess of a job that they had done 5 years ago. And that old company is under new management now and quite skilled at cleaning up the prior managements mistakes. Without the new management and their willingness to help I would have never considered allowing the old company back in my home. These guys have something growing out of their backs... I think they're ANGEL WINGS! I can't believe the service I got from them. I had a problem last year with my AC that cost me over $1000 in electric bills. I had the AC serviced several times and no one could really fix it and recommended a new air. Randy of AC Guys in Winter Garden, and the other gentleman (sorry I don't remember his name) did an excellent job and still have not collected their invoice since January, because I did not know if it was fixed. This company is amazing. I have very busy schedule and I have very little time to get things done. When our air conditioning went down. I called several companies and the only one that really showed they cared about my issue was AC GUYS. From the office staff to the techs and the owners this company made my issue the center of their concerns and owns the problem and went into action. I now have a brand new Rheem 15 efficiency unit and they gave me 18 months same as cash financing at no additional charge. I would recommend this company to everyone. This is the worst company i've ever seen. He literally just came in here blew 100 pounds of air then left and said to me "If you just figured it out you could have done it yourself." Our AC stopped cooling suddenly one night so we called and were able to obtain a maintenance call same day early afternoon. The technician arrived early and diagnosed, fixed and left barely 30 minutes later. The fee seemed reasonable especially for the short notice. So far so good. Another good repair! read more

I bought a house with a 3 yr old unit they installed. I've had to call them numerous times due to unit not working. Every time was a big bill to me,, claim they fixed it.. yet pretty soon it would quit again. Last time I called a different company. and they fixed my unit without bleeding me dry. One repairman for AC Guys even had the nerve to tell me he was an "ac god"... I think not! read more

Contacted the company and spoke to a customer service rep. Sounded nice on the phone and informative. Told them I thought the system was running low on freon as it was running quite often. And asked how much it would cost to "get it checked" and how much the freon would cost per lb to get replaced. (That way we could both have a strong understanding of what work was expected and what I'd be expected to pay.) She told me that they would do a regular maintenance for approximately $50 and that the freon was $90/lb.. I thought to myself, ok, that's a fair deal. They come do a full service maintenance on your system, which you probably need anyway, and while doing that they check for any problems such as fluid levels. You get everything cleaned, and then if it needs freon or coolant they charge you per pound for it. At least that was my impression... Now this is what happened... The tech got to the house the next day slightly early which wasn't too much of a problem, though I was away from the house and wasn't expecting until later. No problems at this point. I arrive at my house and the tech is parked in the middle of the driveway, no biggie, I just park on the side of the road. Went ahead and unlocked the doors for him to let him do his maintenance. First, he went to feel the air from a ceiling vent and said it's not cooling (note: they will only do maintenance on a system that IS cooling). I immediately tell him, no it's just set to fan mode where fan is ON but the AC unit is off. He then takes a brief look in the AC closet. We talk for a minute. He seemed confused as to whether this was for an estimate ("service call" $75) or a maintenance ($50). I told him that I suspected that the freon levels were low and he told me that freon would be $120/lb. I then told him that the lady I talked to yesterday told me $90/lb to which he gave me a funny look. At some point later, he decided to respect the earlier price I was given, but didn't seem too happy about it. He then proceeded to look at the outside condensing unit, an older heat pump. It wasn't long later, perhaps 5 minutes, that he came back inside to tell me that it was 3lbs low on freon, and would be $270 ($90x3lbs) to replace). I started to think about it and was asking some question and then right around that time he got a phone call and went outside to take that. I stayed inside for a minute and thought about it. I then decided, even though I don't like the price (I was expecting in the $150-$200 range) I would pay it, I was hoping that I could strike a deal though, where he didn't do the extra $50 maintenance, that he hadn't started on yet, that I had agreed to the previous day with the customer service rep, but that he would just top off the freon, thus saving me at least that. Much to my chagrin, I came to learn that not only would he still be charging me $50+$270, I would be receiving no maintenance, because this now fell into the category of a "service call", which just so you know, means it's $75+ any repair that's needed, and that DOES NOT include any maintenance. I tried to reason with him, "well if you're going to charge me the $50 in addition then at least respect what the lady had originally sold me on the phone", and that was to do the maintenance in addition to replacing the freon. He begrudgingly agreed though tried to argue with me the value of it. He said that's "just checking the amp draw and flushing the condensate line", I said, "what about changing the filters, cleaning the coils? Everything I've ever heard or seen about HVAC maintenance includes those things.." to which he stopped me saying that was not a maintenance and coils were extra. (Note: Inside AC Unit coil cleaning is not included per their maintenance. Though outside coil cleaning is. I found this out later. You can call and ask what exactly is included for their maintenance and they'll inform you.) At this point I began to feel anxious. I was initially prepared to take the hit to replace the freon, but now I felt like my arm was getting twisted into paying more money and I was actually starting to become afraid that they were not going to leave there without charging something, for just showing up. Thankfully at the last minute he said he could just put everything back and leave and I wouldn't have to pay anything, to which I agreed. I then quietly waited for them to leave, hoping that they wouldn't damage anything out of spite. Maybe I haven't dealt with enough HVAC companies, so this might just be the typical. But I did not have a good experience and felt very mislead. I felt like they were trying to charge me more while trying to give less. How hard is it to actually clean a simple AC system on a small house like this? I've even done it myself a few times. I can't understand why this company has so many good reviews, maybe I was just the unlucky one, however I cannot recommend, and I am actually nervous now to call the next company, for fear of a similar experience. read more

Our A/C quit on us a month after we moved into our new home. We called and made an appointment and they scheduled us ASAP. Justin came and completely cleaned our coils and managed our outside unit as well. He even tested our unit before he left to make sure we were going to get the cold air that this summer is inevitably in store for. Then their owner calls back after a week saying that the estimate is not accurate and even after that, several weeks go by and after numerous inquiries, they do not return your call.
