    Chicken fried steak dinner
    Ralf R.

So I was visiting my brother and he wanted to fo have dinner. I told him I didn't care where and he said MK Davis is a good spot. I said i wanted a chicken fried steak and she said they have one there. Let's go! As soon as we drove up I saw there was a waiting line. Figured dang must be real good if people are waiting! I'm gonna be in for a rude awaking. Got on wait list and about 15min later we got seated. I saw the chips and salsa appetizer and I saw the chicken fried steak for $15 and change. I ordered the chips and salsa and the chicken fried steak. Chips and salsa came out quick and the salsa was pretty good and the chips looked homemade. I was like OK starting off good. Thats where it ended. The chicken fried steak came out and im more than sure it was a frozen chicken fried steak that was put in the fryer maybe! Very disappointing it was actually pretty big but no flavor and extremely mid! Fries and salad that came with it were decent nothing special. But at least the salad was cold. Place is pretty nice very rustic feel to it. As far as the food extremely mid and under performed. Maybe it was just the chicken fried steak but it wasnt worth $15. At least I got a coke zero! I'd come back to try something else though saw someone eating enchiladas and they looked pretty good. Chickem fried steak extremely disappointing. Chicken fried steak 2 outa 10 Chips and salsa 5 out 10 50/50 chance of coming back. This is a locals restaurant they probably grew up on this and like it.

    Seafood Platter

We've been here several times, mainly because it's my husband's siblings favorite place. We always get the seafood platters and I'll be honest, it's the best in San Antonio. While you can't go wrong with a large beer, the appetizers are pretty good and arrive to the table quick. Clean establishments with upbeat service and vibes, being it's an older restaurant. Keep up the good service and food!

Yummy!! We came in for an early lunch and the staff was super welcoming. Our server was awesome she recommended a few items and some nice cold drinks. I ordered a chicken fried steak with a small side salad and a nice cold beer. The scooners are cold and will keep your drink nice and cold to the last drop. I loved the fact they have a jukebox that plays some cool music. If you're in the area MK Davis is a place to enjoy Sunday lunch with the family or just a friend.

3 piece fried chicken with fries and a salad.

This is a classic restaurant in San Antonio. The music and is great. We started with the chips and salsa. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken meal. The chicken was freshly fried. It was very flavorful and juicy.

At first I was wondering why serve a cold salad on a hot plate, then I realized the entire meal was room temp.

Came with family for lunch on 19DEC24. I was really looking forward to visiting MK Davis, but given the overall reviews , as well as my own recent experience, it'll be awhile before I return. Our server Jada met us with a short attitude that immediately let us know we would be tolerated minimally and that's it. No welcome/greeting, barely in our seats before asking "do you know what y'all want?" Also, open-toed sandals, which I thought were a health code violation ‍ While our orders were written down, gravy on the side request was ignored, salad dressing missing and we weren't checked on during the 25min wait for fried chicken to come out. Once food came out I noticed the cold salad was put on the hot plate, but I quickly realized that's because the food wasn't hot and fortunately covered in cold gravy. Green beans were fresh out of a can, salad was room temp and brown edges, meat loaf and potatoes were just above room temp. When individual salad dressings were brought out, we were one short which was realized but I already knew customer service was long gone. I sipped my 1 soda slowly, as did the rest of the table, since the opportunity to request a refill never came up. During the course of our meal we were not checked on.

M.K. Davis is a staple dinner spot that never disappoints. Service is always good here, quick to get orders out as well. The crispy dogs and bean and cheese nachos are both great standout starters. The chicken fried chicken was impressive, and their fish plates are always satisfying. The music selection is consistently great and one can always rely on enjoying a cold beer or sangria in their ice-cold schooner mugs. Give them a try

Very bar-esque style restaurant! Super cool ambiance with good music, and great service. Highly recommend the onion rings, chicken fried steak and hamburger steak. Great prices as well

I've been coming here for over 35 years. My dad was friends with the founder. His daughter and I both attended the same high school, and it's been a go to since forever. Crispy dogs are a must-have! If you're a beer drinker, an ice-cold schooner is the buzz. Whether you order chicken fried steak, hamburger steak, the Pollock, or Mexican food, you can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes are so delicious and green beans, too. Parking is plentiful across the street, too. Expect a wait, especially after 5. It used to be a lounge, with its richly papered walls, and they still have a bar area with seating. It's very nostalgic for me. Must visit at some point if you are in SA.

I decided to stay in the city longer to check out this place. This restaurant is huge and the wait was 45 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. We used our waiting time to stroll through the Mercado across the way. Once the table was ready, my friend got a text. I always wanted to try menudo every Mexican restaurant I go to. But not until I saw the sign on the back cover. This restaurant is under the same owner as Pico de Gallo. Omg. I just had their menudo the day before. No thanks. I decided to order fajita chicken salad. The portion was really small. The food only filled a half of the fried salad bowl. I asked to put cheese on the side. It may had it look more but I don't eat cheese as much. I was glad that dressing was on the side. Which was too salty for me. So, if the food was the same as other chain, we could have eaten there which was closer to the hotel. But I noticed the difference was the servers. Our waitress was cuter and very polite. My friends kept teasing her. She kept good manner and responded back with a smile "uhhh no". Hahaha.

The hostess was a little drab but as I was walked in to be seated, you could feel the upbeat mood. Note that if you're dining solo, they will push hard to seat you at a dark diner type counter to stare at the kitchen area even if you have a reservation, so don't give in unless you're starving and that's your last resort. The colorful decor hits you and you're transported. I ordered the "Mexican Dinner" with chicken enchilada, pork tamal, beef taco with beans and rice. Also had a side order of fresh handmade tortillas. Paloma to wash it all down. Everything tasted great. My server was excellent. Patient and helpful with recommendations. The mariachi band was fun and they roamed the restaurant and bar to play, so chances are that if they aren't singing at your table then they're nearby.

Leads to some concerns about the sanitation & cleanliness while birds are hanging out on half the empty tables and chairs. We could have moved inside and probably would if we visit again. The food was delicious and it is still a great place to try as long as your good with birds. My sister who joined us was a little leery of their presence the entire time.

There's such a wonderful selection, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. As parents with notoriously picky eaters, we especially appreciate how accommodating the staff is - it's such a relief to know that our kids can also find something yummy with just a quick chat with the staff member. That really makes a difference for a family outing! And oh my goodness, the appetizers are simply fantastic. We couldn't get enough! I also have to give a special shout-out to the Carrajillo I ordered. It was such a delightful surprise - perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, with a lovely citrusy kick that made it incredibly refreshing. Definitely a new favorite drink! We're already looking forward to our next visit to explore more of amazing menu. Just a little heads-up for anyone else, we realized on our way out that there's an extra parking lot right across the street if the main one fills up. Super handy to know!

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
