I've been to many Acai bowls (with similar offerings), but this one hits it out of the park! The açaí itself tastes amazing, but it's even more amazing with the chia pudding! My personal favorite is the OG bowl, however I add blueberries and add coca chips which makes the açaí bowl so much more enjoyable. The coca chips adds a little crunch and I think it complements it very well. However I ditch the coconut shreds and banana chips (not a big fan, but all personal preference!) They also have variety type of bases to choose from, although I haven't tried it myself (I just love OG açaí), but they look amazing! The staff is super friendly as well as the owner (Almon) and the place itself is clean and ascetically pleasant. My sister brought me here because she REALLY likes it. However, I wasn't super impressed to be honest. I got the small sized açaí bowl and my biggest issue was that they put barely any açaí, so there ended up being wayyy too many toppings that I didn't even feel like I was eating an açaí bowl. My sister had only ever gotten the medium or large, so maybe their better at portioning it out. I get the whole unlimited toppings that they wanna leave room for, but it just doesn't really make sense to put so little açaí. I also personally didn't love mixing the chia pudding with the açaí and felt like the açaí itself was kind of dry. This place is a gem... I literally get a Large all to myself. It's like chipotle but for an acai joint. When I pass through BP I always need to stop by. The owner is super cool with a unique name I forgot I think hes named after a nut.. Cashew? Staff are friendly Super knowledgeable about everything. Never really understood the hype for açaí bowls before my boyfriend introduced me to this place, but now it's safe to say that I'm hooked! I've visited this place a couple of times, (pre-covid, and during covid) and no matter what time of day or what day is it, it's always busy! That should be enough to tell you how good it is. I live pretty far but I still love coming here as it's one of the best Acai shops around. The employees there are super friendly and welcoming so customer service is on point. I've tried a lot of açaí around LA and this is one of the best. First of all, they use REAL açaí that comes from an ice cream tub, which means it isn't blended with anything like fruit or water. They also have super delicious other bases like matcha and mango. A super big plus is that there's unlimited toppings! There is another great açaí place called Açaí Bar but they charge per topping, which is a bummer. So here you can try as many as you want. The fruit is fresh and basically any combo of toppings will be good. I wish they had kiwi... They also have matcha chia pudding! 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has and has not had an acai bowl. At first, I was hesitant to try this because acai bowls were always too sweet for me (note I was making acai bowls at home w the trader joe packets lol) and surprisingly it was not TOO sweet. Cons: From having both the small and big bowl, I realized the small bowl was more enjoyable. Although the big bowl was nice "for the gram", it was hard to get into the acai without going through the mountain of chia pudding (not a good ratio for me). Acai Joint is another one of those build your own acai bowls for a flat price places that have been popping up in the SGV! After trying it twice, I can more confidently state my opinion on this spot. The smallest size is $6, which is pretty inexpensive for acai! They're a new spot, so their bases are more limited. They're going to have matcha soon, but as of right now, they only have pitaya and acai. The topping selection is similar to that of TRU Bowl, with granola, fruits, chia seed pudding, nuts, and other dried and liquid goodies. Acai Joint does have a smaller selection, and the granola isn't as crunchy and snappy as the aforementioned spot. The cacao nibs are also a lot thicker which is more difficult to eat. The almond butter is also a must here, but it'll cost you 50 cents! Check in on Yelp for a free premium topping! :) Service has always been on point here; all the guys and gals who work here are so sweet! Acai Joint is certainly more affordable than other spots nearby, but lacks in variety of toppings. It would honestly depend on what you value: cost vs. variety for the acai place you would frequent. I got my husband a base with Acai and pitaya mixed matcha chia pudding blueberries strawberries and banana and his had sunflower seeds mixed nuts cocoa bits instead of coconut flakes with agave syrup and almond butter.
