I had never been here before and will never go back. First of all, their prices are already more expensive than other places. Second, they charge you extra without asking or confirming that you actually want whatever the extra charge is for. Reading the menu, I didn't want to build my own bowl so I chose the "OG Bowl". It says +maple almond butter on the bottom. One would assume that's an add-on right? Because it also says at the bottom that it's a $0.75 extra charge. Guess not lmao. It doesn't even clearly state that the charge is for the almond butter btw. You either have to ask them yourself or just assume because they WILL NOT LET YOU KNOW ON THEIR OWN. Like everyone else in Rowland Heights, I was really excited to find out an açaí bowl spot was opening up in the neighborhood. This place took over what used to be Zero Degrees. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with just a few people in line ahead of me. Their selection of bases and toppings are really good and they give a good amount of everything. A small starts at $7.75 and they also have a medium and large option. You can build your own bowl or choose one of the pre-made bowls on the menu. They also have smoothies but I will definitely be coming back regularly for their açaí bowls! read more

consensus = protein lab remains undefeated my gf mentioned a new açaí bowl place opened up nearby and so we checked it out. we missed the grand opening by a day but were happy to step out and give a new place a shot. we frequent protein lab in brea at least a couple times a month as well as blue bowl in orange. so we were definitely excited to see how this place stacked up especially with some early positive reviews (which after our experience seemed to be fake or biased) the location is tucked away in a sort of back alley lot of a strip mall. the other businesses seemed pretty dead and so there was no issue finding parking on a sunday afternoon. being new, the store front appeared to be clean. there was a single restroom right next to the main door that was somewhat clean but smelled like cheap mens cologne. the girl who helped us asked a few general questions and got into the orders. the customer support was as expected. nothing bad but nothing outstanding. to be fair i replicated an order I consistently get at protein lab (açaí, granola, bb, bananas, strawberry, agave) and she replicated the blue bowl order (pitaya and açaí, dragonfruit pudding , granola, bb, strawberry, banana, shredded coconut, agave). the girl helping us put a lot of agave on both. so going in the first thing i noticed was how little of the açaí i actually received. after it was all said and done, less than 1/3 of the bowl was the base and most was granola and fruit. the second thing i noticed was the bananas were extremely over ripe. so ripe it would only be fit for baking needs which made them nearly inedible. i actually saw the worker discard half a banana bc when she peeled it back it was all black and brown. sitting down there were a handful of tables and since nobody was there we had no issue finding a spot. initial reaction from both of us after taking the first spoonful was mutual = no flavor the açaí base had very little flavor and the pitaya was very bitter/sour. most of the flavor was coming from the granola and the agave. the bananas being over ripe didn't help and the strawberries were not ripe enough (white could be seen in the tops and should have been discarded). the blueberries were ok but also leaned towards the under ripe side of the spectrum. overall this was a very disappointing experience in terms of flavor. the lack of flavor of multiple bases as well as poor quality of the fruits made this bowl nearly inedible. ultimately we ate less than half and threw the rest away. we hoped that as a new location the quality of the product would be exceptional. with a variety of competition in the general area, there will be no need to return here and I would recommend others who have experienced a higher quality product at established business fronts like protein lab and blue bowl to stick with the best. I hope my review will help other yelpers avoid a similar experience and or help a new business in the area make the necessary improvements to find great success in their new location. read more
