Background On Visit: Decided to come here for a nightcap after eating a hearty meal at BCD Tofu House. Restroom: No restroom available Credit Cards: They're accepted. Location/Parking: Located in the Yes Plaza. Parking can be found in the shared parking lot. Could be hard to find parking during peak times. Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with pretty cool decor. There's isn't any tables or chairs inside, but you can try to find a public table and chairs to sit and enjoy your snack. Service: For the most part, service was good. The staffer that helped was friendly and offered great suggestions. Desserts took a reasonable time to be made. Dessert Of Choice: Maiko Special (Matcha) was ordered. It consisted of matcha soft serve, matcha cream, matcha chiffon, chestnuts, sponge cake, corn flakes, red bean, and shiratama mochi. Liked how it wasn't overly sweet and some of the toppings kinda reminded me of the vietnamese dessert, che ba mau. Matcha Cafe Maiko is a matcha lover's dream. Located in Rowland Heights this place is a dessert heaven. I ordered a matcha float which has matcha ice cream on top. It was delicious and overall I think this is super addicting and refreshing as well. It doesn't taste overly sweet and has a good balance. There were people here at night but the line went by pretty quickly. So if you are craving some matcha and want it in the form of a dessert this is a pretty good spot to come. read more

After having plenty of matcha in Japan, this didn't disappoint! I got the Matcha Latte Float ($8.45) since it was only $1 more than the Matcha Soft Serve. With tax it ended up being almost $10 which is steep BUT the ice cream swirl on top is massive so I'd say it's worth it if you share. It's inside a small food court with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, and desserts/drinks are ready almost immediately. read more

My friend recommended this place and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot I knew it was going to be good. There's a bunch of good eats inside the Yes Plaza where the store is located. Their menu resembled something you would see in Japan. I ordered a banana cream matcha latte. Upon ordering, I asked the worker if the drink ran on the sweet side and she said yes. I asked for the sweetness to be adjusted to make it less sweet and it came out good. Paid $9.50 for a medium. A bit on the pricey side, I don't think they have the option for a size small, only medium and large. There's no seating inside but there's a few chairs and tables in the patio outside that is shared with some of the other stores in that corner. Parking is tight so be careful. read more

I wanted to give this place a try after driving by so many times. Their matcha seems pretty high quality but their prices for medium and large is way more than I was expecting for the size of their drinks. However, the actually drink is solid. Just know you are paying for quality over quantity here. The front cashier lady was pretty cool though. Very friendly. read more

You can never go wrong with Maiko! Although the ice cream & drinks are on the pricier side, it is so worth it. The drinks are delicious and flavorful, & I will also say that the taste of their matcha & hojicha is super strong, which I like! The ice cream is also really creamy and the portion that they give is huge. Service is just ok, and Maiko doesn't have a specific seating area, but there is one in the same building as well as some more seats/tables outside. Maiko is the perfect place for a sweet treat, especially if you want matcha or hojicha. read more

One of my go to dessert spots in the area. They have delicious matcha ice cream and many dessert options. Flavors for the soft serve include vanilla, matcha, ube, and mixed. I've had the maiko special parfait, soft serve, shaved ice, and their lattes. They are all delicious and for someone who usually can't finish ice cream by myself, I was probably able to eat the entire soft serve because it was just so good. Today was my first time trying their shaved ice and it was gigantic and super yummy. Me and my friend were able to finish the entire thing, just be aware that the ice cream may fall since it's stacked on top of the already huge mound of shaved ice!! (we learned the hard way haha). There's seating in the back and also outside the shop as well, and restrooms are right around the corner. Cute spot to share some dessert! 10/10 highly recommend read more

The hojicha frappe was disgusting and wayyyy too sweet with just a hint of hojicha. I hated it so much but I wanted to try a different drink to see if it was just the frappe that was bad. But unfortunately they don't replace drinks I asked and the girl said "I can't replace your drink, but if you bought another one I'd be more than happy to make it for you" :'c i literally paid $9 dollars for a bad drink. Since they're known for their matcha I'd say stick to matcha related items to avoid taking the loss. read more

I ordered the Matcha Soft-Serve Ice Cream ($7.55). It tastes like medicine. It's bitter, watery, and not sweet. Although the matcha felt premium, its overall taste is unpleasant. At the very minimum, it makes a pretty photo. I arrived at Matcha Cafe Maiko (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 12:03PM - near opening time). Parking felt easy this weekend. The lot is big with many open spots. The sign says, "60 Minutes - Customer Parking Only." When I arrived, it was surprisingly crowded. Matcha Cafe Maiko (Rowland Heights) has an attractive, vibrant exterior which draws people in. Fortunately, the line vanishes quickly. Staff is professional and pleasant. Staff works very fast. My order took about 30 seconds. Very quick! As mentioned, I disliked the Matcha Soft-Serve Ice Cream ($7.55). It's like kissing a pretty partner, only to suddenly start coughing out white powder. This ice cream is grainy. It's silky, cool, and attractive; however, it tastes like chilled, bitter water. I noticed how the people surrounding me, repeatedly saying "instagram-instagram-instagram," slowly began to stop eating. Concerning ambiance, Matcha Cafe Maiko (Rowland Heights) is very small. There is no restroom, but if you peruse the other connected businesses, you might find one. Thankfully, they have a bottle of hand sanitizer. The location is also very clean, but there's no tables or seating inside. This is an order-and-leave place. The outside area has tables which are shared amongst the businesses. There's about seven outside tables. I also like how the exterior is colorful and modern, like a mini town. Overall, I had a disappointing experience at Matcha Cafe Maiko (Rowland Heights). The ambiance and service are above-average, but its ice cream tasted like regret. Hopefully, it improves. 3.2 out of 5 read more

Such a yummy matcha spot hidden in the large shopping center. Parking here is a hit or miss, you either find a spot right away or you have to make a few rounds for a spot. The cafe is located in a corner of the shopping center in a multi-restaurant area that has a shared seating space if you wish to sit and enjoy your snacks there. If you're a matcha fanatic like me the ice cream is to die for!! It's so rich tasting with sweetness but not too much where it tastes so artificial. They have other menu items that you can try and they definitely don't shy away from packing in the add-ons you ask for! It will be my favorite ice cream matcha spot for as long as I live in the area! read more

One of the best dessert shops around here. I can see why there is always a line out the door. I had the matcha latte float with matcha/ube swirl soft serve ice cream. The matcha latte was very smooth and creamy, which was complemented really well by the soft serve on top. It is clear that they use high quality and authentic matcha. The soft serve melts pretty quickly, so some of it will definitely melt into the latte before you can eat all the soft serve. With the soft serve mixed into the latte, the drink becomes even sweeter and creamier. I love that the matcha flavor is prominent and did not taste diluted at all. This is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth. I am so glad that there are plenty of free parking spots in this shared lot. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. No lid provided for ice cream to-go, and then charging customers for a cup and no lids. How are people supposed to take their food home without being able to properly cover it? Since when did asking for a cup cost extra? It's not even about the money , it's the principle of charging for every little thing. I'm surprised they didn't charge for a spoon too. I tried the Maiko Special with matcha and ube mixed soft serve. Premium matcha, very flavorful. Came with green tea sponge cake, coconut mochi balls, red bean, coconut jelly, Frosted Flakes. It's huge, and I only ate about 40% of it lol. Costs about $13, definitely worth trying. Shop is located in the corner of the buildings, only one worker working at the time, she was nice and quick. Seating just around the corner by the arcade area. Overall great experience would love to come back and try the latte floats. read more

This is truly top-tier matcha -- easily the best I've had in my 28 years. The flavor is rich, smooth, and just delicious. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, the quality shows. I've even driven 30 min out of my way just to get it again, and it never disappoints. My go-to is the strawberry matcha. Just a tip: ask them to go light on the strawberry so the flavors stay balanced. The first time was perfect, but the second time it was a bit overpowering so just mention it when ordering. When they get it right, it's amazing. The shop itself is very small, more of a grab-and-go spot. There is some outdoor seating, but not much room to sit and really hang out depending on how busy it is. Still, for the matcha alone, it's worth the stop. Overall, quality is top notch, the flavor is unmatched, and it's become my number one matcha spot. Just be prepared for the price but you truly get what you pay for. read more

I loved the ambiance of where this cafe was located. Especially at night when all the lights outside turn on. Looks like a small little village inside a busy plaza. This place is small so as it got quite busy, there was little room to stand and wait. Luckily we didn't wait long. I got the soft serve mix (ube/matcha) and it was very good. The matcha is a little overpowering so I can taste only the slightest flavor of ube but I still enjoyed it. There are tables outside and a sitting area at the end of all the restaurants. They opened their first store in Hawaii, and all of their products are imported from Uji, Japan. It's my favorite Matcha cafe. Their matcha is the best. It was a perfect day to have ice cream because it was so hot. We got 3 soft-serve ice cream (2 Mix flavors with Vanilla & Matcha) and I got the Matcha soft-serve. ($7.25 each x 3) We all chose the soft serve with a crispy cone. They were a bit pricey, but we had a good amount of ice cream, and they tasted so good. Cafe Maiko is a small counter in a shared hallway in Yes Plaza. There's always a line, but it seems to move relatively quickly. I got the Matcha Cream, which is their Matcha Latte with whipped cream, and the Strawberry Matcha Latte. Drinks were very matcha forward, but definitely on the sweet side. I ended up cutting my matcha cream with more ice and water when I got home, as it was a bit too warm and sweet for my liking when I received it. Might just be me, but the strawberry tasted slightly artificial, like a hybrid of real strawberry pureé and strawberry flavored syrup. read more

It's in the corner next to a Hawaiian place and Boba Ave 8090. We went around 8pm and we were one of the few people inside. The shop itself is pretty small and you'd have to enjoy your food outside where there are patio tables and chairs. I asked what were the more popular items and their menu has hearts on the ones that are popular. Since I had a full dinner, I shared a matcha and vanilla swirl in a cone! The matcha flavor was heavy and prominent. The vanilla swirl did help combat the earthiness of the matcha with some sweetness. Eating it together felt like I was enjoying a vanilla matcha latte but in a dessert form. Maybe it was my taste buds that day, but I did wish it was a tad bit sweeter. If you like matcha, this is the perfect spot for any occasion. They range from matcha lattes, frappes, ice cream, floats, shaved ice, and more. I found out that their products are all imported from Uji, Japan, very organic. Despite the spot being really busy most times, the line moves really fast as orders come out super quick as well. Parking is free as it's in a huge plaza with many other popular shops. Staff is pretty professional and friendly, since the shop is small, it's a bit cramped inside, but the staff is pretty on top of the constant flowing orders, props to them for their speed. Since I usually get soft serve cones/cups, my wife and I were pretty interested in the floats this time around. The floats consist of matcha latte with a choice of 1 or 2 ice cream soft serve flavors on top. We got 2 toppings, matcha + Ube swirl with the float and we were enthusiastic about the order. It was really creamy and not too sweet. Matcha and ube are a great mix and it even melts really well into the matcha latte. I'd say the only downside is that the ice cream melts a tad bit faster than most other shops. Overall, Matcha Cafe Maiko is a great shop for any ice cream lovers but especially matcha lovers. I come here all the time when I'm craving matcha around Rowland heights. It's usually after Korean bbq or if we just had dinner in the same plaza. I feel like it's always been consistent with pricing, portion and taste. Definitely recommend to anybody who's a big bingsoo or matcha fan. I'm taking about matcha before it blew up. I always get the swirl because my bf loves it but if you're a matcha lover, I recommend getting all matcha. I would have to say this is one of the best tasting ones I have ever had. The strawberry had a good consistency and taste, seemed like a fresh strawberry purée. History

Matcha Stand Maiko opened its first store in Hawaii with the goal of providing customers quality matcha with the authentic taste. Uji is a place in the southern part of Kyoto and is renowned for making topnotch, highly nutritious matcha. The area is ideal as there is plenty of mist, which protects against frost from degrading product quality. It's the best place in Japan and they do whatever's necessary to keep that reputation intact. Our matcha comes from Harima Garden, which has been in operation since 1858. Their product is high quality and delivers a great smell and outstanding taste.

They have ice cream bars, merch for sale, and ice cream by the pint as well. I've gotten the cookie monster, dark matter brownie batter (I feel like this is a remnant of Rick and Morty but I'm not too sure, don't quote me on that), milk and cereal, and the Saigon coffee. There are times when the ice cream is really dense and the flavor is strong, texture is creamy and it's a solid ice cream (usually for the coffee and the brownie batter), but there are other times where the ice cream is too icy (like water iced over on it and it's like an ice cream that was melted and reformed again). This is a mixed bag I get with other flavors. For the stress it takes to even get into this plaza, it's not worth it considering there are other dessert options nearby.

Bring card or contactless payment.) I arrived at Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) on Wednesday (around 10:21AM). Parking is very easy. The lot is big. However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. What made it more frustrating is that your phone line doesn't even work, so there's no way to call and let management know directly. The only way to bring attention to the issue is by leaving a review. I understand busy nights happen, but if the drinks can't be made consistently or the boba isn't ready, it's probably better not to serve them at all. At the very least let the customer know that the boba is not ready or no bobas available.

We usually hit Ding Tea around the corner so the gf wanted ice cream and this place popped up. The interior was clean which was the first thing that caught my eye. We ordered one of their parfait style match ice cream, a waffle cone with vanilla and matcha, and a honey milk tea. I have to say... I've had matcha ice cream in Japan and I was super impressed with this. It's hard to put the taste in words except that it was the correct levels of sweet and creamy plus the tea was amazing. There was so much ice cream and the wafffle cone did not disappoint. I am definitely coming back here. I recently tried the matcha ice cream and hojicha latte here, and unfortunately, both left me a bit disappointed. The matcha ice cream had a nice, creamy texture, but the flavor wasn't to my liking--it tasted chalky and powdery. On top of that, the ice cream melted way too quickly and would have been better if it was more firm. The hojicha latte was also chalky, and for the price, the portion size felt small. On the plus side, service was fast and the place itself has a cozy but limited seating area indoors and a few outside tables, which was nice, but overall, I was expecting more from the experience. read more
