Got the Layers of Paradise acai with the sao paulo blend. Not a big fan of the passionfruit layer for its tartness. If you enjoy quite a bit of tang, then the layers of paradise might be up your alley. Unfortunately for us, we expected something more sweet and cohesive. I think the other classic acai bowls would have been more enjoyable. The guy manning the counter was pretty welcoming so that was a plus. read more

tried this spot cause it had such good reviews but it was just an okay acai bowl. parking can be tricky as it's all street but service was super sweet and helpful despite most of the ordering being on the kiosks. it's a bit pricey for what you're getting as well, i think a small is already almost $11/12 and it costs extra to add most of the typical toppings you'd get at other places like nut spreads, fruits, chia, etc. fruits were fresh but definitely not the most ripe/sweet. personally wouldn't come back, but at least it didn't taste bad! read more

My friends and I randomly found this acai spot tucked in a corner. We were craving something with fruit and I'm so glad we found this place! Service was sooo fast and the person who helped us was so welcoming. I got the Cali acai bowl. The acai itself was so good and refreshing. And the fruit was so fresh and surprisingly really good quality and really sweet. I appreciated how they gave just enough granola since some places dont give enough. I definitely recommend and will be going again when I'm in the area! read more

Horrible customer service from the employee working around 3pm on a Tuesday. My daughter and her boyfriend ordered a custom açaí bowl and both have peanut allergies. When they received their bowl, there was peanut butter hidden underneath the fruit and toppings. After taking a bite, my daughter immediately had a reaction and had to spit it out. They went back to address the issue, but instead of taking responsibility, the employee dismissed their concern and simply said, "You ordered it." There is no way they have requested peanut butter given their allergies. The response was rude, careless, and showed a complete lack of concern for a serious health issue. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

We have enjoyed several açaí bowls at Açaí Republic! Thankfully it's within walking distance from our house! It's conveniently located next to Peony Chinese & Carmelita's in Laguna Beach near Main Beach. I would recommend grabbing a bowl before or after the beach! They also offer traditional Brazilian Cheese Bread, etc. My only wish is that the bowl additions were more reasonable (most are $1+), but all in all they offer great options and additions if you'd like to customize. The bowls are similar to what we have had in Brazil! They also offer great promotions if you check their IG. The app is easier to order/navigate if you download and order ahead so you don't have to wait + the screen to order in store is a bit difficult to use. read more

Friendly service, just be advised that during winter they don't open until 9 am. We showed up at 8:20 & had to kill 40 minutes so we went to Starbucks across the street. Açaí bowls were fresh & delicious. The place was clean decorated really cute. I disliked that you have to order on a screen that's ultra sensitive so we didn't even notice that my bowl showed up as no coconut & my husband's had added collagen. We were the only ones in there but I guess everyone has to order on a screen. I'd return again when in the area. read more

Walked in on a Sunday afternoon. The young man working never acknowledged I was standing there, that I walked in, nothing. A few minutes later, a young woman walks out, who also doesn't acknowledge my presence, that I'm standing there, nothing. Two other women walk in and she IMMEDIATELY greets them with a pleasant smile and warm welcome. A bit off putting for me... The expression on my face was saying, "hello what about me?" and she finally said hello. She asked if I had been helped and I told her no, and that I'd been staying there for several minutes and hadn't been helped. She said "sorry, I was on her break" with an attitude... Yeah ok. I then asked her about an really bright pink drink I saw someone get, and if she could tell me which one it was on the menu. She acted confused like she didn't know what I was taking about but it might be the pitaya smoothie. I ordered the pitaya smoothie. I couldn't see her make it, but she poured the smoothie in the cup, poured it back in the blender to mix something else in, then she gave it to me. The drink is so bright pink, I don't know how she didn't know which drink I was taking about earlier. At any rate, the drink was bland and had very little flavor. I didn't like the young lady's attitude towards me, and that made me really uncomfortable consuming anything prepared my her, especially since I couldn't see her make it. And not to mention, she had poured it out and mixed in some mystery ingredient or something. I didn't trust it. The drink was too expensive to just throw away, so I asked for my money back. She asked the young man for help on how to do it, and they talked about me in some other language, which I feel is unprofessional and rude quite frankly. They obviously don't need or want my business. I won't be back. read more

I've been to many açai Republics, but this location was by far my favorite! Customer service was amazing Erin and Topher were working on the day we came in and they treated us like family. The food was phenomenal, we had a little bit of everything Açai bowls, pan de queso, and a smoothie Everything was delicious and fresh and came out at a very timely manner. Can't beat the ambience and the location right across the street is the beach. We will definitely revisit next time we're in town. read more

This location is tucked away in a beautiful courtyard with tons of outdoor seating! Parking is fairly limited in the nearest lot but there's lots of street parking. All the employees had great customer service and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Truly makes it feel like a mom & pop shop (even though it isn't)! The bowl came out really fast & was so delicious! We checked the website, which said the Sunday closing time was 8:00 PM. Trusting this, we walked to the location and arrived at 7:05 PM, only to be met by an employee who informed us they were closed. He mentioned the schedule on the website was incorrect and that the new hours would begin next Sunday. Unfortunately, the employee's demeanor didn't reflect great professionalism--it seemed like we had interrupted him unexpectedly. I have had the chicken empanada which is good, pretty juicy. I will say the spinach empanada is not quite as good - I think it might have been a bit old by the time I had it in the afternoon. read more

Great news for Laguna Beach! Açaí Republic is here! We went to the grand opening this morning...it was packed! The employees were outstanding and efficient with the large crowd. My husband ordered the Cali bowl and I ordered the Mango bowl. Both were excellent! We also tried the spinach and cheese empanada, loved it! Can't wait to go back and try some of the other items. During my routine visits here I have ever ordered The Cali and the Tahiti açaí bowl, and juices. Açaí Republic is a wonder place to meet my needs of a healthy dessert and drink. The açaí base is freshly made with a variety of combinations which we could hardly have them all in our daily life. I strongly recommend Laguna Beach location for families who like to enjoy the beach but well sanitized desert shop. They also serve warm cheese bread and empanada beef. The cheese is soft and tasty, I especially loved their empanada. The inner protein is seasoned properly and juicy. Such a great place to relax and enjoy the food! read more

I'm a huge fan of Blue Bowl and feel like nothing compares to theirs, but Alohana is on par with that. It's good if you want to take it to go and let it melt down a little to have that smooth consistency instead of fighitng with it and getting chunks at a time of the base. Definitely would recommend coming here after a long day at the beach or picking one up before heading to the beach to enjoy there. They also sell coffee and other random, but very cool, tchotchkes, clothes, art, that you wouldn't find at any other Acai bowl shop and it's very Dana Point. Great place to pick-up a unique souvenir if you're visiting from out of town.
