Came here with a friend a couple months back. He really liked this place and he knew I love acai bowls so he recommended we come here. I think I got the Tahiti Bowl which was pretty good. But to be honest, nothing about this place blew my mind. They have more of the blended type acai instead of the sorbet style. So if you prefer that, you might really like this place. I'm glad I tried this place out, but I probably won't come back because my favorite places are closer and better, imo. My top are still Blue Bowls, Berry Brand, and Paradise Bowls. read more

One of the better acai bowls you can find around here! I went through a phase recently when my friend hadn't tried any acai bowls before so I wanted to introduce him to them (banzai bowls). It rekindled my love for the tangy, tart, and sweet, and I set out to try the various acai bowl places around town. Cue acai republic. It's located in downtown Tustin and is fairly small. The prices fall right around what you can expect, but the sizes do tend to be a bit on the smaller side. That said, the acai blend has more to offer than other places by way of tartness and flavor. I only ever get the bowls that offer the standard three fruit choices: banana, strawberry, and blueberry. The fruit here was fresh and did not come off as frozen, unlike some other places. read more

SO... this Açaí place is not my go-to spot but after my experience today it might be! The young guy who helped me was beyond sweet & above par! I ordered the Tahiti but didn't want blueberry & got pineapple instead, he said normally it's a charge but since it was a switch he wouldn't charge me. I also asked for coconut shavings on top & he said, "you're lucky because it's Tuesday & you can get up to 3 for free"! So i did just that! I originally just wanted a small but he suggested i get a medium because everything would not fit, so he gave me a medium bowl at no extra charge! The two stars is partly because the girls working there were so disinterested, like they were annoyed we were there. This usually is due to poor management. The bowls themselves were just ok. Better than bowls at juice places like Juice It Up, but still nowhere near as good as Blue Bowl, which is a bummer because this place is much closer to my house. The bowls are much sweeter than we'd prefer, and not enough of the hearty stuff like granola, nuts, and seeds. And you can't specify custom bowls, just the pre designed bowls that's on their menu (at least that's what the girl grumpily told us when we asked). Oh well, we gave it a try, maybe we'll find another place that's close that is more about the hearty stuff and not just the sweet stuff. read more

Medium Sao Paolo ($7.25): Acai blended with bananas/guarana, topped with granola, strawberry, bananas and a light drizzle of honey. The medium was a perfect size for lunch and packed with sliced fruit. Service was pretty mediocre considering it wasn't too crowded. The cashier wasn't friendly at all and didn't say anything to me until I said hi to her first. I try to avoid the "dirty dozen" produce which includes strawberries, so I got the São Paulo açaí bowl because it's the only açaí bow here that doesn't have strawberries in the açaí mix. What ever it is I hope it doesn't change because it's the bomb. If you're looking for the bowl to be your meal go with a large or medium. Snack, go with a small. The price is worth it. I stopped by here on a Friday afternoon and I love the set up of this place. The menus pretty straight forward, the place is clean, and the ambience here really screams Acai with the amount of purple decorations/art and factual health benefits of acai on the walls. The service here is great the staff here are always smiling and they really get your orders out pretty quickly unlike most acai places where it'll usually take 30 minutes if they're backed up on orders. Now for taste the acai base here is good but honestly not on pare with banzai bowls or juju bar but tasty none the less! I understand they use the frozen acai packets from sambazon which in my opinion every acai place should use as they are the closest you can get to getting a real acai taste unlike many other joints where they use powder acai with frozen bananas and make a bulk to get ready for the next day. What a lot of acai places don't understand is any blended fruit whether frozen or fresh will oxidize overnight that's why sometimes you'll taste an overripe banana that would've tasted better the day of. It's like making a fresh fruit smoothie only to freeze it right after and then drinking it the next day. Does it taste good? Of course but it will never taste the same as when it's made fresh. Overall this place is pretty good they makes acai base on the spot blended with frozen bananas and the sambazon packets. The toppings aren't unlimited but at least you know it's fresher than most acai joints that offer unlimited toppings and premade acai base. read more
