Yum, yum, yum. If you want American-Mexican food at a sit down restaurant in Lansing, this is where you need to go. I've been here four times and I've never been disappointed. I've had the enchiladas trio twice which is just amazing and plenty to bring home leftovers for another meal. My husband loves the mocajete which is a huge hot stone bowl with like 4 different kinds of protein. We have split that and STILL had leftovers. My friend had the Mexican tacos yesterday and really liked those too. The service has always been excellent, even when I've been with a group. They also have VERY reasonable beer prices. read more

This is a great casual sit down Mexican restaurant. In Lansing it seems that most authentic Mexican restaurants don't serve alcohol which is a big bummer, however Acapulco does which automatically puts it at the top of my list for Mexican eats. The restaurant itself is quite large with a dining room area and a pretty large bar that also has ample seating. It's decorated much like any other Mexican restaurant I've frequented in my life and is quite comfortable. For drinks I enjoy their Margaritas which are more than fairly priced and they have a good mix of Mexican and craft beers on draft. The food here is what really sets it apart from restaurants such as El Azteco (ew). I've had their enchiladas, quesadillas and tacos and all have been delicious. My favorite is probably the tacos al pastor which are served traditionally with raw onion and cilantro and also come with yummy pineapple. The meat is so tender and juicy and loaded with bold Mexican flavors you really can't go wrong. If I could change one thing I would have them put more salt on the chips for chips and salsa!!!! But if you're looking to drink some margaritas and nosh on some tasty Mexican food in a casual setting I would say Acapulco is the best that the Lansing area has to offer! read more

I tried this place for take out at first and enjoyed the food. Once dine-in was open in Michigan, I decided to visit and loved the decor at Acapulco. They also have outdoor seating which is usually busy. I like their Mahi Mahi tacos and Shrimp tacos. I've also tried their fajitas and they were pretty good. read more

The service is alright. The food is alright. It's priced pretty standard for Americanized Mexican food. The restaurant does not go above and beyond to satisfy, but the food has brought me back a few times. The queso is good, the chips are good. The rice & beans are always tasty, but once I ordered to go and the sour cream on top of my enchiladas had gone completely rancid. It was so sour that I thought surely it was a mistake, maybe some lime juice had been squeezed on top. But alas, it was curdled sour cream and I haven't been back since. The decor inside is the nicest part. It looks clean and well decorated. I think Acapulco has potential to be great if they stepped it up a bit. read more

Hallelujah! My poor friends no longer have to cart me all over town to find Mexican food up to my snobby California standards only to be disappointed! This joint is where its at. This restaurant is located in a huge strip mall and took a little lurking to finally find but it was so worth it! The ambiance is perfect, they have a huge variety on the menu, and are extremely reasonably priced. Its always a good sign when the chips and salsa are on point as to how the rest of the meal will go and these certainly were. The four of us went through 2 baskets in a jiffy. I got the chimichanga lunch special (which comes with rice and beans) with a soft drink and my whole meal was less than $15. And I was so full I skipped dinner that night. Additionally, our waiter brought out our 4 piping hot entree plates at the same time with no tray and didn't skip a beat! Appendages of steel! It's a bummer that I won't be able to come here more often, as East Lansing is about an hour away for me but I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

The facilities are beautiful and clean. The food may be good - I'm not really sure. The menu looked amazing. The service is beyond terrible. I joined my friend at the bar during happy hour. There were less than 10 customers in the total restaurant and bar area combined, and two (at the bar) appeared to be employees who had clocked out for the day. There were 6 people working front of house, including the manager. It took 10 minutes to get acknowledged and order a drink, despite someone being behind the bar. I could not get him to acknowledge my existence and in fact didn't - the manager mouthed it to him across the bar and then he took my order. The advertised happy hour specials from 4-8 pm were $4 signature margaritas and 1/2 price queso and guac. I ordered 2 margaritas and queso (plus my friend's drinks). I was charged full price for everything. I waited 10 minutes for my change, after waiting almost 10 minutes for the tab. It took 20 minutes to pay and leave despite the restaurant not being busy. I have been here 5 times to eat because the food is good and the location and restaurant itself are great..however, the service always starts out pleasant. You are greeted and seated and the ordering goes well..the food comes out quickly..and then I have hit a snag every time. The waiters sort of disappear. No checking on ya. No drink refills. One time, our waiter actually LEFT and we waited for drink refills and eventually just wanted a check for over 35 mins..finally we walked up to the register to pay whatever we owed and the cashier asked for our bill so he could ring it up. We told him we never got one. He asked were we sat. We pointed. And he said, "Oh yeah. He left." So yeah, food is good. Service is a little iffy. read more

My husband and I picked up dinner and dessert, and while there was nothing wrong with our order, we were extremely disappointed in the quality of our food. The food was completely soggy, as condiments were put directly on our food (which I've never had happen)...seems like common sense not to put whip cream, sour cream, etc. directly onto hot food. Churros had a pool of melted cream (or something white), which should have been kept separate. Taco Salad shell was totally mushy. Our meals were not enjoyable at all. Nobody wants soggy food, so we will not be returning, which is too bad because we live within walking distance and used to like this place. The quality just isn't good anymore. read more

We've been here twice now and really like it. The food is good, service is good. My birthday was on Sunday when we went last, so of course I got a jumbo margarita. Tasty, too much normally, but for my birthday, it was worth it. I think we both ordered from the "traditional Mexican" specialties. I had the carnitas, which were really tender. This is my FAVORITE place to eat in Lansing. The food here is so good, I am honestly craving this place 2 or 3 times a week. The service is great as well. I highly recommend any of their enchiladas. I also really enjoy their asada (steak) tacos and the Steak Mexicano. Their horchata is typically good, there have been times I've gotten it and it was a little watered down but usually it's good. My boyfriend really loves the burritos from here too. Their chips and salsa are so addicting and I love the way they make their rice and beans that go with most meals too. I was very disappointed with my trip to Acapulco Mexican Grill. I had read good reviews and wanted to try it. However, the food was VERY bland. I had the shark tacos. I put every sauce they gave us on it, but I could taste nothing. We also tried the street corn, and it was not super flavorful either. It was rather soupy. Let's start with the positives. The chicken/mushroom dish and the tortilla soup were tasty. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The skinny margarita was terrible.
