First time here. It was Great! The main reason it was a great experience, was the service. It was pretty busy in general, but the service at the bar was top notch. Miguel and other staff were awesome. It is so stinking difficult to find even decent service nowadays. It always amazes me. One of the reasons to go out to eat, is for great service! Miguel told me to tell him what it was I wanted, and they would make it. I had chicken and shrimp/chipotle, with some guac, rice, pico, chips, and salsa. Everything was good. Chips, salsa, and drinks refills promptly, bagged up my leftovers. Attention to detail from the staff was appreciated after a long hot day. Keep it up! I grew up in Lansing and when I come home to visit, I like to visit my old favorites. However, tonight Mom picked this restaurant because her ladies group (25-30 ladies) has reservations for lunch here tomorrow and she wanted to give it a try before-hand. It was also close by the imaging center where we dropped off my father for his evening appointment. We figured it would be convenient we'd be in and out in an hour or so. Upon arriving at 8:20, there were workers vacuuming the dining area, we were a bit worried that since there were no other diners inside, it might be closing time, we asked our server and he said they are open until 10PM. Our server delivered chips & salsa to our table, as soon as he approached the table, I could smell the chips. They smelled of rancid oil, which is the smell that comes from re-using the fryer oil, night after night and using the same fryer for more than only chips, like frying fish, french fries, etc. (I've worked in every aspect of the food/bev/hospitality business for over 40 years) After browsing the extensive menu, ironically we both ordered the same thing, Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Our server delivered our tacos, set each plate in front of us, without saying a word and walked away. I thought that was kind of curious, since I've been in the industry, typically a server would ask if there was anything else they could get you or if you needed anything else to get started, then maybe say "enjoy your meal." The presentation of our dishes was interesting, the sauce was in a little ceramic boat with a small dollop of pico de gallo served next to it, no spoon to serve it with. The rice and beans in another little ceramic boat, (beans & rice were tasty) each taco individually wrapped in foil. Upon opening the first fish taco, it was filled with barely a teaspoon of fried fish and same amount of cabbage (see photo). I waited to get our servers attention to show him each of our tacos. He apologized and brought them back to the kitchen, then returned with more fish. He stated he would return with more coleslaw. We sat waiting to eat until the cabbage arrived. I observed the waiter come out of the kitchen, then tell the manager they were out of cabbage. The manager checked & determined, no cabbage. The waiter then comes and apologizes and offers avocado slices instead, I agreed and asked for more pico & some lime slices & maybe some lettuce too. He returned with lettuce and pico, then walked away. Minutes later returned with the avocado. I then asked again for limes. By the time everything was at the table, the tortillas for the tacos were cold and soggy. Our server pretty much avoided coming by our table, then appeared with our check when he saw we were done. Only at the time of presenting our check at 9:55 PM did he apologize for "a new cook not adding enough "meat" to the tacos" We ate quickly, paid (full price) and hurried off to pick up dad. It makes sense now why there were no other guests when we arrived and why the server initially set our plates down and scurried away so quickly. I'm not sure my mom will ever visit again, but I know the next time I'm back in town, I'll stick with the old favorite El AzTeco. My objective in providing such details, is with the hope management/ownership will take each of these observations to improve over-all. I wish this new business much success in the future. read more

First off I rarely give reviews this high but they were excellent. We got the Mexican Choriqueso. We would've preferred it thicker like queso but, it tasted good. Just to watery. In addition we got chicken wings which had an excellent dry rub on them. We didn't get either sauce offered by choice. We got the make your own combo. We accidentally got two tostados rather than a tostado and a chalupa but after eating a bit of our other items we were to full to eat it anyway. It took a bit longer than expected so they threw in a free cheese dip. A little of it over rice and beans was magic!! I was asked no less than 3 times if I'd been helped. The waiters were very personable and one even stopped to chat briefly. We look forward to going back and dining in. read more

Food is good, customer service, not so much. I didn't receive an item in my takeout order that I paid for. Not a big deal, mistakes happen..however, when I called to remedy the issue I was told that I was mistaken, because they "remember placing the item in the bag." They then told me they were "too busy" to speak and to "call them back in 30 minutes" and hung up. When I called back, no one answered. The next day, I was told it wasn't possible to issue a refund and that I needed to drive there today to pick up the item, which is an unrealistic solution. I understand that mistakes happen, but this is an unprofessional way to handle business. I ordered the nachos supreme and carnitas tacos today requesting corn tortillas and that they pack utensils. Food was cold when it arrived. They gave me flour tortillas instead of corn. The meat was bland as if they hadn't seasoned it at all. No utensils. Considering the complexity of my order (which was not complex at all), I expected more and was very disappointed. Alright Acapulco, pay attention! The food will always keep guests coming back, because it's THAT GOOD! But, each time I come back the service is always slacking. Our last service had twenty minute ticket times for drinks from the bar. I did enjoy my mojito though! Also, the lights in your dining room are way too bright! Consider dimming the lights after the sun goes down or for dinner service to make it less abrasive! We were not only blinded by all the lights, but because it was so bright so late at night, we could notice stains in the carpet, leaks in the ceiling, and other imperfections. Be wary of drink prices . Ordered a margarita and got charged for a large one (didn't ask for a large and he didn't ask what size ) . Asked for Sopes and he said they couldn't fit all the items on the menu. Ended up paying $10 for one small sope and rice and beans . The chips are the same as any Mexican sit down restaurant. Great location, great food, good service. I had a traditional molcajete served in a volcanic rock mortar. The rock stayed hot & so did my food throughout our meal. It was full of steak, chicken and delicious grilled shrimp. It was all grilled with the most delicious chorizo I've ever eaten which gave everything a most delicious flavor. Also, it contained onions, peppers, tomatoes, nopales & pineapple which added to complex flavors. I added the mixture to corn tortillas & topped that with accompanying guacamole salad & pics de Gallo. Wow. Hard to top this dish but I hope to come back and try. They have a lot of variety, but not many combination meals. Great bar choices, including many Mexican beers. I had a Paloma which was really good. The guacamole appetizer was soooo delicious. I highly recommend that as well with their fresh chips and terrific salsa. My only concerns : 2 of our dining companions split the vegetable fajitas. They asked for corn tortillas instead of flour, but they received flour. They just ate them because they were hungry & the food looked sooo good they didn't want to wait for a correction. Also, the refried beans were salty. I was suppose to receive charro beans but got regular refried beans. Not worth making a fuss as they were busy & I had plenty to eat. Rice was decent, too. I love the pork tacos and a selection of beer. It has a pretty decent atmosphere and the prices are pretty good. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that they often bring my bill before I'm done ordering (such as dessert).
