Diamond in the rough taqueria nestled inside a small corner strip mall. Acapulco offers a simple menu but do not let the brief menu turn you astray, the tacos are delicious. I ordered the Pollo taco and Quesabirria tacos. I wanted to get the al pastor taco but, unfortunately, they were sold out and marinating the meat for it for tomorrow. The tacos I did get were delicious. It was evident all of the ingredients were fresh. They also gave me two salsas for the tacos. One red and one green. The red one was spicy but delicious. This one was great for the pollo taco. For the quesabirria tacos, it came with a cup of the birria broth. These tacos were incredible. They were a bit messy but what good food isn't. I ordered these tacos through their ordering site listed Toast. They took my money but Toast said they couldn't get in contact with them so the order could be processed. Toast gave me their number to reach out to them and it was a fake number. So I google the number, no number is listed. So I go by the store, it's not opened. Hmm... about a 3.5. As many previous reviews noted, they used to be awesome, closed down to renovate, and are now freshly re-opened. Not knowing any of this, I walked inside expecting a restaurant and found just a takeout counter, about a third the size of what the establishment used to be. There were a couple of outside picnic tables you could sit at, but clearly this is now only a to-go experience. The menu was very small, but fortunately they did have my favorite tacos in the world (currently) the Quesabirria Tacos. For those who haven't had them yet, the tacos are shredded beef stew with melted white cheese and a side of birria broth to dunk your tacos in. I wanted to get a side order of chips and salsa and/or guacamole, but apparently they don't carry any of those, which honestly, is just weird. I got home and devoured my tacos. They were excellent, filled with meat that was not fatty, and full of flavor. The birria broth was one of the better ones I've had. While I thought $10 for just 2 tacos was expensive, they were delicious enough that I would get them again if I were in the area. read more

I did not know why they closed and had given up on them, but I was craving tacos and imagine my surprise when they came up as open. I like their new look it is very clean. They are now a takeout place with a few high top tables. They are also only electronic payments -- NO CASH. I got a Cecina burrito , a fajita quesadilla and quesabirria tacos. The burrito was amazing and my wife truly enjoyed the quesadilla. Both were very large. The quesabirria tacos looked great, but these were my first and they didn't appeal to my taste. Fantastic, super flavorful tacos' I got the Quesabirra and my partner Chicken, Carnitas and Fajita tacos. Everything tastes super fresh and the service was super quick but that didn't sacrifice the taste at all. The interior of the restaurant is set mostly for pick up service but there are 5 high tops and bar seating. A lot of people are saying they are disappointed by the new renovation and lack of seating, but I think it's perfect. Helps keep prices low and service quick without having a full on dining room. Take it from a Mexican the food is great. I had the tostadas and they reminded me of my childhood. Though i wasn't a fan of the Birria, the Al Pastor was delicious! If you're expecting anything outside of what you would get from a traditional Mexican restaurant don't go. They aren't trying to impress you with decor. Really didn't want to give this place a 2star rating because before COVID and their remodel this place was 5 stars but we were so disappointed with the lack of authenticity. The place has been watered down in every sense. The carnitas , chorizo and birria tacos just lacked sazón. Onions, sauces, LIMES are an extra cost and the sauces are clearly watered down not to mention a taqueria is supposed to be a good cheap eats option and charging $40 for 6 little tacos is outrageous. Having tried them again since, I realized that the new concept has little in common with the taqueria that made them so great. I think they "overcorrected". I came to visit this Taqueria place in Tampa with the purpose to try out their tacos. Its very hard to find authentic tacos here in Florida, but there are a few out there in Tampa. This place was no exception. I went ahead and tried out different types of tacos to taste their flavors. I had tongue, pastor, asada and chicken. Gotta say there were not bad at all. I didn't care much for the chicken taco, though. To me, it didn't make me a fan. The tongue, asada, and pastor were the better winners. The flavors were amazing and delicious. Their salsa were right on hot and spicy. So in regards to the tacos, I would recommended them. They are good. I was happy they had Horchata, but it seemed like it was more watery than flavory. Maybe next time they should add a bit more sugar or cinnamon to it. Just saying. The place inside was clean and welcoming, so that's a plus. Their staff were very attentive and friendly. Good customer service. But I always have a laugh inside myself when I go in a Taco place and I hear Salsa o Merengue music instead of Mexican Folk Music. This is a local spot near my house that I order from at least about three times a month. Their tacos are flat out amazing! I've had the chicken, fish, shrimp, and birria tacos. My favorite is hands down the shrimp and birria. The birria beef is super flavorful, especially when you pair it with the consome, however since it isn't pressed like a quesabirria it will fall apart when being dipped so be careful. I've also had their chicken quesadilla which is REALLY good, never ever been disappointed when ordering that. I recently had a chicken tamale and I will admit it was rather dry. I will say I am a tamale fanatic so I may be a bit more critical than your average food tester. Service is good as well. You can call to order and or go in and order. They are also on uber eats as well. Never delayed and the workers always have a smile on their faces. I HIGHLY recommend this place if your craving tacos! read more

The place has a very homey feel to it. It reminds me of the bodegas in New York, but instead of getting Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a roll, you get TACOS! Service is quick and there is a self service fridge which is perfect for a low key lunch. I ordered 3 tacos (2 chicken & 1 steak). They were all served on corn tortillas with raw onions & cilantro....this is the way tacos are supposed to be, simply perfection. The meat was extremely flavorful and juicy. We were given limes & salsa to go with and the additions elevated the flavors. The service was average, however, everyone who works there is super helpful and friendly. Came here for my last ever lunch with my work best friend (she is leaving forever). The parking is difficult if you park on their lot, TIP: I suggest you park in the Rolling Oats Lot and walk over, it's easier and quicker. When you walk through the door you will see a small gas station like cashier with a lot of knick knacks around it--ignore that counter until it is time to pay, go straight to anyone on the l-shaped white counter with the bar stools. They did take a while because it was busy but the tacos are only $2 so yeah I'll order as many as I want. I ordered the first four on the menu: lengua, chorizo, al pastor, and carnitas. I got my tacos in about half an out and then we drove back to work. I made the mistake of NOT CHECKING ORDER before leaving and realized my tacos were only meat and tortilla, no additional lettuce onion or cilantro like they ususally do. I was so sad and because of this I could not get past eating the lengua (tongue) taco. I saw the cows tastebuds and I was done. I'm pathetic, I know. I visit this taqueria every now and then for lunch. This is one of the few authentic Mexican eateries around this part of Tampa Bay. It's right next-door to the Rollin' Oats grocery stores on MacDill Avenue. It's a very casual establishment. I mean, really casual. You don't want to come in here expecting anything too fancy. The food more than makes up for it though. It appears that for now, they're going under some sort of minor renovation, In my observation, due to the primered walls and the relatively new furniture. The food here is really delicious! My favorite are the tacos and they're reasonably priced. During the lunchtime, however, it does get pretty busy so it's best to order ahead and pick up your food, as dining in may take too long for some.
