Great little spot! Happened to be nearby our Airbnb so swung by - great service and awesome food! The refried beans were so freaking good and actually seasoned! This is such a hole in the wall and great place for a quick bite. Taco plate was $9.99 and they bring you chips and salsa to the table.

We stopped by La Fiesta Mexican Store when we realized it was less than 10 minutes away from home, and offered Uber eats! I figured instead of paying for delivery, we could swing by. Nestled in the back of the grocery store is a small restaurant. The menus are in Spanish, and the service was quick. The beans and rice were delicious, and my husband loved his carne asada quesadilla. He was surprised that the torta included beans (I was not as that's how I'm used to them being prepared!). The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. It came with a bit of a price tag at $46, but that did include two soda's a water, and three entrees. Will definitely be back for lunch specials or tacos!

I have been looking for California style mexican food ever since I moved to Florida. All they seem to have is Tex-Mex, which is bland and all tastes the same. I was in Tampa and this place came up on Yelp, about 15 minute drive from where I was, so, what the heck. So.... La Fiesta is perfect. Delicious food, good value. Maybe the neighborhood might not agree with everyone, and certainly the decor is not the most elegant, but the tacos were so so so good. My husband had the well-seasoned carne asada and I had al pastor, with a delicious hint of pineapple. I can still taste the perfectly heated/grilled tortilla--just the right amount of crispy yet soft. Plus, really delicious salsa, beans and rice. My only regret, I live too far to make it my regular. If you are even close and want to see what a proper taco tastes like, go there.

This is not the best Mexican food you'll ever have, but it is pretty good, and it is ridiculously cheap. I came here on Mark P's advice (and review). It really is in the middle of nowhere, but in the middle of the day, it's no big deal. There was a mariachi band playing, but luckily they were focused on an area separate from where I sat, so I could eat relatively undisturbed. The waitress was quick and friendly. I don't think she spoke much English, but for me, that's not a big deal. I had a large pina aqua fresca (very good), and three tacos. All three were pretty okay, not the best I've had, but solid for Tampa. If you use a lot of lime juice and judicious hot sauce, they are more than acceptable. The green sauce is rather tasteless, so go with the red sauce. I liked the lengua the best of my three meats (lengua, asada and carnitas), but for me, lengua is almost always the winner based on its inherent fatty goodness. This place is very convenient to Ikea, so if you've tired of their Swedish meatballs, come here for a pre-Ikea meal.

Solid and Affordable Mexican food. The exterior looks like an old school Mexican store you might see on the West Coast. Honestly had no clue anything was even in this area. I had the street tacos today - the Carne Asada and Al Pastor. Carne Asada was the better one of the two. Only thing was the limes were dry - need more of that with street tacos. Refried beans were actually good for what they were but not the style that I like. I would pass on it next time. Think next time I would get some crema, avocados, or sour cream to put on top. I'd be curious to see how the burrito is in a future visit. Everything is pretty affordable on the menu $10 or less. The tacos are the best deal and most are under $2. I was thinking about getting Huevos Rancheros but it was $9.99 so I thought that would probably make it hard for me to be pleased because I think thats a little pricey for that dish specifically.

Stopped in for lunch and I ordered a steak torta with fries and horchata. This is the best torta I've ever eaten. I will definitely be back to eat again.

All was inviting, and a great way to remove yourself from the very busy atmosphere of the Marriott lobby which was crowded. We sat at the bar since we loved to be surrounded by the activity of the place. We started off with their special spicy margarita and ceviche. Loved that it was more Peruvian style, and not the tomato based one. More my preference of the lime taste. Then for dinner my husband had the strip steak, and I had the chicken fajitas. Both were flavorable, especially the sides, especially the corn cake type side, that were served with the strip steak. Both were seasoned well. My husband's flank steak, though delicious, was overcooked. The bar tender was attentive and answered all our questions about the menu, and provided some great suggestion including which entrees were most popular and also her favorites. Definitely will come back. Will also order the carne asada again but make sure to tell the server to cook the steak more medium rare than medium.

We started with chips and salsa which set a great tone, the tortilla chips were perfectly salty and the salsa was solid, no notes there. It was also Taco Tuesday which means one free drink with a taco order, so naturally I had a classic margarita (also solid!) and went with the al pastor tacos because the sweet plantains on top had my name written all over them. Full disclosure: our waitress actually recommended the chicken, carne asada, or birria... so I can't say I wasn't warned lol! The pork did run a little dry, but the flavors were genuinely enjoyable and the authentic corn tortillas were a highlight for me. The yucca fries were a touch dry as well but still decent with the accompanying sauce. My friend also let me try her octopus, not typically my thing, but the flavors were nicely done! Honestly this feels like one of those spots where I just ordered the wrong things for my first visit, which means I have to go back and do it right. The chicken, carne asada, or birria are calling my name next time. Would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you can catch happy hour!

What I appreciated most is the build your own taco option, because it allows you to order exactly what you want without paying for a bunch of filler ingredients you were going to push to the side anyway. When you strip it down to the proteins and toppings you actually like, the cost savings are real. In a place like Ybor, where prices can creep up quickly, that matters. Now, the à la carte menu can feel a little confusing at first glance. It is not the most straightforward ordering system if you are just breezing through. But once someone walks you through it and you understand how to piece your order together, it becomes completely worth it. You end up with exactly what you want, and you are not overpaying for things you did not ask for. The vibe was great. The service was friendly and patient, which helps when you are trying to decode the menu. And the location is ideal. There is an outdoor patio with umbrellas on the sunny side of the street, which gives you options. You can sit in the sun if you want that warm Florida glow, or you can stay shaded if you are protecting your skin but still want to be outside watching the action unfold on the strip. And let's be honest, half the entertainment in Ybor is people watching. Add in the random roosters casually strolling around like they own the neighborhood, and you have a full show with your meal. I loved everything about this place and highly recommend it if you want to save a few bucks on food while still soaking up everything Ybor City has to offer.
