    Margarita flight: meh
    Robin K.

I visited here yesterday with friends for brunch. The place looked very cool, i loved the wall art. Servers were awesome too. The food was subpar. Margarita flight was ok. First of all, it was room temperature when served and I couldn't taste any alcohol. For food, i had the made to order taco. I picked the ingredients that packed a punch but sadly the taco lacked spice. I've had better tacos at bodegas. Overall, i expected more.

What a unique taco menu! I'm so glad we stopped in here to check it out! Nick was our bartender and explained how it all works! We had the basic queso with our chips & salsa, it was all delicious! I tried the chicken caesar taco special, fantastic! My boyfriend had a taco that was like a big mac (I can't remember the name) and loved it! It's very pretty inside and the walls are painted beautifully! Highly recommend!

Came here for lunch with 6 people. The menu is super confusing. It would take less time to just make regular ordering vs asking waitress to explain many times how to put an order on a paper. Instead of talking to friends, we had to try to fill out some papers. Ridiculous system. Very inefficient. Drinks were absolutely terrible! Couple of us had to send them back. Ambience is pretty chill, nothing special. But relatively clean and organized. Waitress was friendly and attentive. She still has to take orders for drinks, so not sure why can't she just take the whole order. Salsa was terrible, guacamole was old, brown and tasteless. Tacos that I ordered: one shrimp, one fish and one imitation steak were pretty terrible. Fish was super mushy and had no flavor, shrimp was ok, imitation meat was not edible. Really bad place, I never want to come back. Low quality, expensive, and confusing menu.

It is a great place for the day of the dead. This is because the wall paintings has all of that story. The bar is popular during late evening. They do have sport bar with big tv setup. We got three tacos and sharwarma pita. The three tacos we have are the codgather, La Tierra, and French dip. The French dip is interesting taco with ribeye steak dip in the meaty sauce. The pita we got is the chicken bacon ranch. I think this is ok. Overall I think they are a bit oily but the size and quantity is good. Service is good.

I think this place is garbage, literally you can get better food at chipotle. The inside and outside areas are cute, but the food and drinks are terrible. Skinny margaritas is watered down with no taste. The steak tastes like teriyaki chicken, it was almost inedible. Service was slow, I had to go inside to get the check from server after 20 minutes with no service. Don't come here and go to a different restaurant is YBOR.

We love Barrio and have been coming here since they opened. We like to do the build your own bowls and tacos. Tonight we had choose your own flavor margaritas as well and we're equally impressed. I had a mango jalapeño margarita and my friend had a blackberry pineapple one.

I was a huge fan of the Barrio in Orlando, and I was so sad when it closed. When looking at restaurants close to Raymond James Stadium, I saw Barrio and got so excited! We parked in the lot behind the restaurant and were able to get one hour of parking for free. Our server warned us that the kitchen was a little backed up, so there would be a longer wait than normal, but our food still came out pretty quickly. We started our meal with the Spicy Garlic Queso, which was really garlicky but not spicy at all. I really like their chips. For my main, I got a rice bowl with black beans, queso fresco, caramelized onions and poblanos, lettuce, pico de gallo, pineapple salsa, corn salsa, and avocado ranch. I also got a side of the mango habanero sauce. The rice in my bowl was all clumped together and a little overcooked, so I ended up not eating most of it. The rest of the bowl toppings were pretty good, and the bowl was a great portion. The prices are very fair, and I like that they are open late. The tacos here are really good, so I would probably order those instead of a bowl next time.

If you are in Ybor City and trying to enjoy yourself without lighting your wallet on fire, Barrio Tacos is a very smart move. What I appreciated most is the build your own taco option, because it allows you to order exactly what you want without paying for a bunch of filler ingredients you were going to push to the side anyway. When you strip it down to the proteins and toppings you actually like, the cost savings are real. In a place like Ybor, where prices can creep up quickly, that matters. Now, the à la carte menu can feel a little confusing at first glance. It is not the most straightforward ordering system if you are just breezing through. But once someone walks you through it and you understand how to piece your order together, it becomes completely worth it. You end up with exactly what you want, and you are not overpaying for things you did not ask for. The vibe was great. The service was friendly and patient, which helps when you are trying to decode the menu. And the location is ideal. There is an outdoor patio with umbrellas on the sunny side of the street, which gives you options. You can sit in the sun if you want that warm Florida glow, or you can stay shaded if you are protecting your skin but still want to be outside watching the action unfold on the strip. And let's be honest, half the entertainment in Ybor is people watching. Add in the random roosters casually strolling around like they own the neighborhood, and you have a full show with your meal. I loved everything about this place and highly recommend it if you want to save a few bucks on food while still soaking up everything Ybor City has to offer. Good tacos, good vibes, good people watching. Hard to beat that combination.

The young lady at the front desk of our hotel recommended Barrio if we wanted great tacos. It was walking distance from where we were staying so we took her advice and gave it a try. Well, she was right! Service was great; friendly, attentive, and quick with water refills. They have some pretty unique tacos on the menu and you can build your own with basically all sorts of toppings and combinations. I got the codfather and I made my own taco with jalapeno lime shrimp. Both were fantastic and huge (see photos for reference). I was worried 2 tacos wouldn't be fulfilling for me but I was wrong. Both were flavorful and packed. Overall, a great spot for tacos if you're in the area!

Strong drinks, delicious tacos & guac with excellent service! Loved the Sassy Pineapple with Tajin rim! Added bonus that we could ride the free trolley from our hotel!

Barrio is quite the gem in Ybor. This unique dine-in taco restaurant and full bar offers thicc tacos and delish cocktails for brunch, lunch, dinner and late night cravings. Great service and chill vibes. Corn tortillas for the gluten-free ones. No need to settle for mid tacos downtown, Barrio is a short walk from trolley stops and a parking lot.

    What I ordered

Finally -- Hard Shell Tacos in Tampa! It is so hard to find hard shell tacos in Tampa -- not just good ones, but any at all! Everyone leans toward traditional soft tacos (which are great too), but sometimes you just crave that perfect crunch -- and Barrio absolutely delivered. I ordered the Green Goddess Shell and Bombshell tacos with chili-spiced sirloin, and every bite was packed with bold flavor and that satisfying crunch I've been missing. The Green Goddess was bright and zesty with salsa verde and smoked cheddar, while the Bombshell brought a spicy kick with their signature sauce and corn salsa. Add in some thick-cut bacon on the side and a little extra sour cream, and I was in taco heaven. If you're a fellow hard shell lover in Tampa, this is your spot. Finally, someone gets it right!

Build your own Bowl Cilantro-Lime Rice

I think this was the best bowl I've ever had tbh. I added the shrimp, queso fresco, pico, cilantro/onions, lettuce, black beans, cilantro lime aioli and chipotle crema Trying to save it so I can eat it tomorrow lol

It's a pretty standard dirty martini. I liked it, and it was fine. Good to see there is a place in Ybor with real cocktails, and not cheap awful cocktails served in a plastic cup. Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.

Sadly, they do NOT offer their fabulous cocktails upstairs here, even though there is a bar. If you want to drink something stellar, you will need to walk yourself back down the two flights of stairs, and get it yourself. Instead, they have instructions on each table of how to order a standard cocktail on-line; you choose your basic booze, then your basic mixer, and a cocktail server will bring it out to you and take your credit card. Efficient, but very boring. The venue is small, but the sound was good, with the exception of the two magpies behind me screaming and nattering the whole time. Why go to a concert if you're just going to talk through the entire thing? But I digress.... This is a wonderful venue to go see some surprisingly good artists, and I highly recommend a visit.
