We have never had a pest control company come to the house before, but after seeing an online deal (Livingsocial or Groupon I can't remember) for Accel last year we bought the coupon. After making the appointment, John came to the house in a subtle company truck. I was relieved to see no giant rat on the top of the vehicle or advertising wrapping with bugs all over it. It seems like a little thing, but it meant a lot to me. I don't want to proclaim to the neighbors that the bug man is over. John was very thorough even getting under the range and in between the dishwasher, places I wouldn't think to spray (that's why he's the pro). The treatment took care of the inside and the outside of the house. It was about a year before I noticed the intruders (bugs) return. We called John and had an appointment scheduled for that same week. So impressed with his work we signed a year contract for the quarterly service. The prices are reasonable, and for us worth every penny. In addition, if there are bug or critter problems between treatments he will come back pro bono and treat again. Accel is a local business and a two man band; no Joe Blow is coming to your house collecting a paycheck and going through the motions. They are really nice guys and total professionals. HELLO....it's been a while. But I'm here to brag about a Pest Control Company that was everything my neighbor's and my lawn care specialist said they'd be. My old Victorian house, located in Portsmouth (I almost bought sight unseen), I have such a deep, deep connection to this house and I appreciate every beautiful thing about it...EXCEPT wood eating bugs. OMG, I'm a Bay Area Girl. So when I educated myself on the horrors of the East coast termites who've survived the Jurassic era and are a direct descendant of the "cockroach ", and use TUBES because, well I'm sure you know. The licking each other when the queen suspects her army might not be getting along almost had me packing my bags. So we've established I have a "thing" about bugs. I love my house, and I need to take care of it. I have a cellar and an attic. I shared my fears about insects with ACCEL, and they were so nice. Apparently, ACCEL came to be when one Terminex employee realized that at night behind office doors, they'd all talk about how Terminex was a sham. They made millions by simply selling customers a false sense of security. That employee, had a conscious. He learned all he could about customer service, and running a successful business at Terminex, but then he left to start ACCEL. Mind you, this story about how ACCEL came to be, isn't something their employees talk about. You won't find it as a form of advertising, either. I know about it because I know people who know the owner. Makes you wonder how many giant successful companies out there, also abuse their power. Just because everyone knows Terminex, and uses them because they're convenient (convenience is another word for LAZINESS). Professial, personable & informative Their customer-customer communication using email is impressive (including a picture of service technician arriving to service my property "prior" to arrival) listing acurrate arrival time. They appear to be a one-stop shop too. Bugs & rodent extermination is a start, but preventive items like crawl-space entrance sealing, termite control & crawl-dpace moisture control are also part of their expertise. Time will be required to conform their success on my pest concerns, but I have a ferling of confidence. We were purchasing a home in Virginia Beach while still in California. Our realtor met the inspector from Accel at the property for a termite moisture inspection, separate from the one required at closing. (We wanted to do our own right away to see if there were any issues). They inspected the home and the report indicated that the crawlspace was encapsulated with a plastic barrier, so it obstructed the foundation walls. (The plastic went all the way up the side walls so you really couldn't inspect anything without moving the plastic barrier, which we've since cut back). Overall, they seemed thorough and professional. My problem is that we came to find out that this company already had an existing contract with the sellers. Isn't that a conflict of interest? It's like grading yourself. I can't remember who recommended them or how we got them, but they should have disclosed this before inspecting the home which we were paying out of pocket for. When I called them, I received no response and they didn't care. They should have refunded our money. Good news is that we had to pay for another termite/moisture report and found a great company who actually found a serious main sill beam under the house that was cracked (which was missed by the home inspectors and Accel) read more

I've used Accel in the past. They show up on time and the service is reasonably priced. My biggest complaint is when the service was over. They sent someone to spray the yard and sent me the bill for a new cycle. I did not sign up for another 90day cycle. Nor would I approve for them to just spray the yard and send me a bill. The water bugs my wife saw were inside. Another thing I want to mention is the guy that came over to spray for the bugs. Spent his entire time complaining about trump. I believe you should support the president no matter who he is. It's called patriotism. I don't care what your political stand point is. Do your job. After complaining about being re billed they didn't contact me back. It wasn't untill I left a review online that they "adjusted my bill". Maybe I'm glutton for punishment but my wife wanted to do another 90day treatment this year. It seems every year around weather changes from summer to winter there is a lot of rain. And then the water bugs show up. So I called them back. The same lady answered. They said they would call me back to set up the appointment. Two days later my wife called them and once again they said they would call us back. It's been a week now. No reply. I should of known better after my last experience not to call them. Every year we seem to have issues with our crawl space. After price quotes of thousands to remove a fungus from our crawl space, install dehumidifiers etc we called Accel. They recommended treating the fungus and installing a new vapor barrier for $1500 a couple of years ago. We took their advise and contracted them to do the job. No issues with "found another problem" while doing the work. We recently had a new HVAC system installed & they wanted to inspect the duck work under the house. When the man came out he told me we have the cleanest crawl space he had ever seen & the duck work is in great shape. Thank you ACCEL for your great work and honesty! read more

I have been using Accel for my pest control for over 2 years. The initial sign up fee and quarterly charge was a little cheaper than what other pest control services were asking for in this area. Upon moving into our home, we had almost been evicted by some other tenants that were already here... let's just say the grossest, nastiest, most disgusting bug you wouldn't even wish on your worst enemy. However, I stayed strong and fought back and after several visits/applications from Accel (word is they are hard to eradicate) and many sleepless nights, I have not seen another one of those bugs in over a year (Thank you Jesus and Accel)!! Accel has also come out, almost immediately, every time I've called with other issues in between services (@ no extra charge to me). Seriously, this house was cursed from mice to ants to ticks ... Terrible customer service! We were told they were coming yesterday, they did not, but told our landlord they did AND that they waited 15 minutes. Not true! Then they showed up this morning, waking me up, and I said you were supposed to come yesterday, he said no we weren't. So I said I need you to wait while I call my landlord. He left!!! I called him, I said I can't believe you left! You didn't show yesterday, said you did and...and that's where he hung up on me! I called the office and asked to speak to a manager. The girl on the phone said she was the highest one in the office. I asked what her position was. She said administrator...um ok. I said I needed to speak to whoever was in charge of appts and making sure they are correct. She said that was her. I start telling her my problem, she tries to cut me off and tell me to calm down (I was not yelling or cussing), and she also hangs up on me! As I'm writing this review, she calls me back. At this point I am really mad so I am not speaking nicely, but I am not yelling. I ask her if she would be angry if the guy did what he did to her and she said yes, I say and then I call you and get the same treatment from you! Basically, they came on the wrong day, lied to my landlord about it, would not wait while I called her about it, hung up on me when I called them, and want to blame me for all of it because I was mad that I got hung up on! read more
