Went here years ago when it first opened. Back years later for my first concert of the year at ShoWare Center. Honestly not the best venue for a concert. Their sound system was awful. Great hockey & concert venue, with excellent concession and event staff, marred by some truly atrocious, smug, rude, condescending and callous management. Before delving into all that, though, I will summarize some of its best features: * Free parking (in the east lot only, however) * Wonderful security, concession, and event staff (minus one manager in particular) * Spacious venue, with great sight lines, even from the floor Now, on to the problem: Myself, my wife, and another 20-or-so attendees had VIP Meet & Greet tickets to meet one of the bands in the lineup for our event, to which we were invited into the venue early to hang out with them, take pictures, etc. Although our band was not the headliner, we were told by event staff that, once our session was done, we'd have to head back outside. However, we were explicitly told to line up behind the VIP line for the headliner, and once their session was one, we'd ALL be allowed entry into the venue early, partially to avoid the 90+ degree heat and direct sunlight hitting the glass and reflective mirrors on the sunny-side of the building, where our lines were told to assemble. We confirmed this multiple times with the gentleman, who was friendly, warm, helpful and welcoming. Once we were back outside, things took a turn south, as the Events Manager, the aforementioned smug, rude, condescending and callous mentioned above, decided otherwise, and subjected nearly two dozen people to several hours of sun exposure, simply due to her being on some sort of power trip. Multiple people in our group would end up suffering from heat-related health issues, including two diabetics. Thankfully, some of the caring concession staff inside, noticing our plight, offered some free cold beverages to help alleviate their suffering. Despite being informed of what the previous gentleman had said, as well as the condition of the people suffering in the heat, the Events Manager continued to be smug and dismissive, her response always distilling down to basically "because I said so". Her final excuse was that our tickets simply could not be scanned for entry prior to a certain time, which is true to a point. However, as one of the people in our group worked for Ticketmaster, and informed her, and everyone present, that this is adjustable by the venue AND Ticketmaster, she ran out of excuses. Once we were finally inside, things were great, once people had recovered from the heat. However, this Events Manager put people's live in danger for no reason other than exerting her power, and that is in excusable. A complaint is being filed with the BBB by multiple people in our group, as well as formal complains with the venue's ownership and upper management. At the VERY least, in the future, ShoWare Center needs to inform their management that extended queues for summer events MUST be moved to the shaded side of the building, and when people start to suffer legitimate risks to their health, then it's time to take action...or be the subject of legal action taken against them. read more

All my visits have been for concerts, and I really like Showare for music acts. It's a more intimate venue allowing for pretty good seats from any angle. The sound is as good as the sound crew working it. No issue due to the venue. The venue is so manageable as far as parking and seating. They are great about booking Latin acts. read more

The events are always well managed. I feel safe when I'm there. Love that I can experience what I love with like minded people.

The Disney On Ice show was fantastic. I always try to come to see the show whenever they come to a town near me. The production is always wonderful to watch. read more

Home of the Seattle Thunderbirds hockey team! If you like supporting local teams and need budget friendly entertainment this is something to check out. I've been to a couple games and they're just as fun as going to Climate Pledge Arena watching the Seattle Kraken. If you're coming from the west, the 167 underpasses at Meeker/Smith and James are decorated with blue and green lighting. We usually park at the James Street Park & Ride (free!) but there's lots of other free parking options around the area. They also have a store inside where you can buy merch. Never been to a concert here but because I have fam in the Renton and Kent school districts I've been to a couple high school graduations at Showare. Good venue to hold that kind of capacity. read more

This is a review of the venue for CONCERTS, not hockey. Came for the Mercy Me concert. They have "free parking" but I showed up at 7pm and the lot was full. Had to park several blocks away at a shopping center. Arrived and they only have one entrance to the building and the line wrapped around the building! This place only holds 2,000 to 3,000 people but the line was HUGE!!! I asked a worker what time they started letting people inside (thinking they didn't let anyone in until 7pm) and was shocked when he said they opened at 6pm. Guy said this was the largest and longest lines they have EVER HAD!!! Just not very organized. Inside the place is small and intimate, we sat 13 rows back from the stage but ANY seat would be fine here. Acoustics are not very good for a small venue, could be better. Had a great time at the concert, Mercy Me gets 5 stars EASY, just hope they pick a better place to come next time read more

Very nice venue! They were in need of another. Entrance to help speed things along. The line to enter went from around the front all the way to the back and then back up front again. The seats were comfortable and we had very good seats for our concert! The venue doesn't have a bad seat in the place. Comfortable and quaint! This is the hockey arena for Seattle Thunderbirds! A parent waits 13 yrs in anticipation of Graduation. They dream of it, look forward to it. After OVER an hour in line for a function that required tickets purchased in advance, HUNDREDS of people missed the processional due to the complete incompetence and mismanagement of Shoeware. This wasn't just a conc we rt or sports game, it was the culmination of children and families formative years. Heads should role, Pink slips should be issued and this Venue should NEVER be given the opportunity to screw up another Graduation night. The fairgrounds in Puyallup and the Tacoma Dome both do this well. Clearly Showare dis NOT understand the assignment. read more

I like this event space, when the thunderbirds play hockey every seat gives a great view of all the action! There's plenty of bathrooms at both ends and stalls, my only peeve is the food. Why do venues always have the same basic American food? The overpriced burgers, pretzels, hot dogs are unappealing. Hit up a restaurant at Kent Station before you go to any event here cuz the food is basic and boring and definitely not worth the price! read more

First time at this venue. Lots of nice eateries and shopping in the immediate area. We chose Johnny Rockets in Kent Station. I highly recommend. Tastiest burger and chocolate malt I have had in a long time! Keep in mind this is post Covid, don't know how many recent events they have had, we were required to show proof of vaccination or negative test. That went pretty swiftly as they were verbally informing everyone as we approached the entrance. The rough part was traffic and parking due to the event. In my opinion that falls back on the initial building of the arena. They should have built a structure up to allow for parking. They did have the event very well staffed and signed. We just needed to be cautious and patient to get through the grid lock signal light coming from Kent Station to the ShoWare! Perhaps look ahead of time and plan your parking entry avoiding that intersection? Also go park earlier then we did. I was surprised the only Concessions at least near Section 16 were kiosks or Vending Machines offering only popcorn and bottled beverages. Again, I know Covid has changed things. I am use to a built in Concession Counter type offering more choices. Was very great full to be able to purchase bottled water with a debit card! I would definitely attend an event here again. The sound was mixed well and not too loud. The merch vendors did offer ear plugs if desired. Crowder was amazing, capturing everyone's attention. I think they were the loudest. Made the trek from Seattle to catch JUDAS PRIEST last night and was in awe of how nice the facility & staff handled this particular heavy metal crowd. These folks attending tend to be a rougher crowd than a Katy Perry's crowd. Yet entering the faculty was easy and peaceful with an amazing staff guiding us into the venue. Only thing slowing us down was the metal detecters making sure we were there to have fun and nothing else. Once inside the front gates signs pointed me to the floor so I could enjoy my front row center ticket. At first a few party crashers attempted to gain access to the front but the amazing security staff gave them the BOOT ASAP and placed neon Bracelets for row 1 seating. Immediately when some under privileged loser with crappy seat tried to enter the forbidden zone he was ejected instantly no mater how much begging & pleading he or she attempted. The nerve of these heathens tryin to join Franks party. Needless to say this was a very pleasurable and memorable experience seeing the mighty Judas Priest live. Thank you ShoWare Center your a building and staff worth giving a thumbs up to. read more

Attended Disney on Ice, really great smaller venue. Showare provides an intiment feel, and very close to the action. We sat in section 119, row 5. For Disney on Ice, they do not use all of the ice, the show was a short distance away but none the less still felt close. For concessions, we didn't eat at the arena, we purchased soft drinks, reasonable priced for a venue. For parking we purchased VIP parking, this gives you parking in the lot right next to the arena, as well as entrance through a side entrance. I would highly recommend this as other parking is free however it is across the street. There are plenty of restaurants at Kent Station, this would be a great place to stop before the show to get something to eat. Overall, great experience, enjoyed the show and the arena. Entrance was a breeze, bathrooms accessible and clean. read more

i have attended two hockey events at this venue during this current season. In one instance they advertised a pre-game deal - relating to early entry... and then denied us early entry. They would not explain why but the game started an hour late. Not what I expected for a weeknight event. Tonight... my friend became ill after eating a at a food booth. Its not for certain that caused his illness, but he noted iimmediately after finishing that it sat poorly. He became ill at our seats and left to the restroom. As i realized what had happend, i contacted an usher to alert him to the health hazard and went to find my friend. As i was trying to find him alcohol enforcement surrounded me and accused me of being sick at my seat. I understand their concern but they refused to listen to me when i said i didnt want to watch anymore of the game but only find my friend to make sure he was ok. They made me leave the building in 18degree weather before verifying if my sick friend was ok. Not cool and very cold. read more

Great venue for concerts, games, or graduations. Good food and drinks and reasonable prices. Highly recommend spending some time down here if you get the chance. Parking may be a little bit difficult, so I recommend parking over at the jail across the street, as typically there is ample parking spots. When coming to the venue it's best to arrive early so to not feel rushed trying to hurry to get to the event or your seat. Overall an enjoyable experience for all both young and old, in a centralized location just south of the main freeway and north of Kent Station. The Seattle Thunderbirds (a junior hockey team) provides the excitement of hockey without having to fork over NHL prices, however that may change when Seattle eventually gets there own NHL franchise. read more

For my high school graduation that I barely graduated from 10 years ago, this venue did not allow balloons or honkers inside. The venue itself is around, but shout out to this venue for providing drive-in movies right now during quarantine! It's such a great concept and activity to do especially right now during the summer where there ain't shit to do during quarantine. I've been to one drive-in before, but they all unfortunately seem to eventually close down. I prefer this concept because you can be nice & comfy in your car and bring better food/drinks along. There's nobody bothering you and you're not bothering anybody. You pay by car and there's different tier depending on where you want to park. The sound comes from a radio station that they will instruct you to tune into, make sure you turn you car on every 30 minutes or so to make sure it doesn't drain your battery and die which I'm sure it happens sometimes and plenty of neighbors around to lend you a jump if that does happen. My initial impression of ShoWare Center was very good. As a new mid-sized arena, it certainly has a lot of curb appeal. In particular, there was easy access to the venue from the surrounding communities (we were staying in Tacoma) and free parking across the street at the Park-n-Ride lot. We waited in line a few minutes prior to them opening the doors (one hour before the puck drop) and the staff was efficient about getting us through the doors (four lines). Security was a little stricter than I'm used to in Portland (bag check and you have to unbutton and open your coat), but no big deal. I checked the venue rules in advance and found a few quirks (no spiked jewelry or noise making devices) and the code of conduct at venues always induces a few chuckles. We had excellent seats and were surrounded by a mix of Thunderbirds and Winterhawks fans. It is an intense rivalry and we were attending a particularly important game, but the fans I observed on both sides let the boys settle it on the ice. A few things of interest... 1) During the hockey game there are a number of times they lower the lights, so this is the perfect place to bring glow sticks or lights in your team's colors. 2) As other fans noted, the acoustics weren't great and at times it was hard to understand the announcer. Also wish the big screen was a little better for the replays. 3) The food options were on the better side for stadium food, but at stadium prices. 4) Perfect sized venue for a hockey game and all of the seats seemed to be good seats. We sat in a section that had particularly good separation from the fans around us. It is a place I look forward to visiting again to cheer on my team. I'm trying not to let my personal bias affect me, but I think ShoWare is better than watching hockey in the VMC, but not quite as good as the Moda Center (fmr. Rose Garden). read more

Great venue place. Outstanding staff for this event. Easy entrance, accommodating staff. Any seat sufficed for this event. The staff was very organized all around and very helpful assisting guests to their seats. I've never been to a big event were everyone was well behaved and friendly. Also haven't seen this much Filipino all in one spot. A friendly reminder tho that snacks are hella expensive but expected. Eat something before attending events such as this. Jo Koy ran on Filipino time and I expected it too but whatever. That's a given being a Filipino. He was hilarious and so talented! He took the crowd way back to childhood to present and made fun of everybody. He sang with us, danced here and there. He was wonderful and would love to see him again when he returns to us. I can cross off hockey game from my list! We paid around $33 after tax for a premium section seat and the view was great. The arena was smaller than expected but that's nice cause then the nosebleeds aren't really even nosebleeds! The crowd had high energy and was hilarious. A few men sitting behind us would yell, "if you're gonna get a penalty at least make it worth it!" So much shoving and fighting! On Tuesdays the hockey tickets and beer are each 2 for 1 along with $2 hot dogs, sodas, or popcorn! We parked in the park & ride across the street. Free parking! We visited this location for a concert recently. This will impact my review some as a portion of the experience was shaded by the staffing firm that was retained to work the concert. The location is south near Kent. There is parking onsite and parking directly across the street, sufficient spaces for all attendees at the space. Normally this venue is used for hockey games in the winter. The challenge is entry and exit to the venue. There wasn't at least at our entrance dedicated metal detectors, so you had to wait in a long line outside in the rain while a single person was wanding people. It was super inefficient. The venue does not have good concessions. The coffee at the stands internally was bad, and the wait to get it was long. The other concessions stands serve very generic food options, basically just fried food. Internally if you are there for a concert, the acoustics are not great, the lighting is kind of poor, and there are places in the venue where you will have a bad view due to the need to put cameras and speakers in places. Overall a very average place. Don't pay a premium for an event here. read more

I've been to the ShoWare Center multiple times for various events, T-Bird's games, graduations, etc. It's a nice venue for smaller events, seating around 7K. Because of its small size, there isn't really a bad seat for viewing T-Bird's games, because you're relatively close to the action throughout. Unlike CenturyLink, T-Mobile Park (yuk), and other larger venues, the food options are pretty basic - popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. you're not going to find many "gourmet" food options - so you may want to get food beforehand (If you're planning on eating there). The location is really good, near Kent Station - and a bunch of food options - not too far from 167 or I5. Parking is good. There's a decent-sized parking lot, as well as scattered parking options within walking distance as well. I'm sure it would be a perfectly good venue to watch a concert in too. read more

My family and I were just there for the Mercer Island high school graduation event on June 11, 2019. The doors were supposed to open at 5:30 but of they were late in opening the doors. And we ended up standing in the hot sun for a few minutes. The ShoWare seems to be a lovely medium size venue that's not too large and accommodates a high school graduation very well. We had to be "wanded" and our bags searched before we could enter and I have no issue about that. After the Commencement program, the graduating students filed out first and then the audience. Our group of 8 mostly elderly relatives all went outside to meet up with our graduating senior. However, I had to use the restroom after a five hour period which included the hour car ride there and being there at 5:30 for when the doors were supposed to be open. WE WERE REFUSED ACCESS TO USE THE RESTROOM! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! THE STAFF TOLD US ONLY THE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WERE ALLOWED INSIDE. OH MY GOD! I THOUGHT I'D HAVE TO DROP MY PANTIES AND GO RIGHT NEXT TO MY CAR! I won't say how this was resolved but I would never ever recommend this place because of this one occurrence. If the ShoWare management wasn't going to allow people back in they need to say so right at the beginning of the program or have signs to that effect!! read more

We went to the sold-out Jo Koy show last night Sunday February 16th. We had bought floor seats. This post is for all the employees that were working last night. Not only was everybody working extremely helpful, they were all super cheery and very pleasant to be around. Also the concession stands were extremely cheap! Just finished graduation here! First time I've been here. The facility was easy to access with parking we used the parking garage across the street. The streets were a little backed up with traffic, hard not to be. Inside felt very clean and open with food available for purchase, which came in handy because we were starving! I'm surprised no concerts are ever held here thinking maybe the acoustics aren't up to par. I've heard many hockey games and ice skating shows have been held here much too their success. read more

We attended the Newsboys Concert on 11/16/18. I was just starting to be able to walk without a cane having total knee replacement surgery. Also had Atrial fibrillation problems. The first artist sang and played guitar with a canned accompaniment. The Bass guitar was so loud and powerful it made your chest bounce with each pick of the strings. The second band,, the same thing. I just thought I can't take this. I have to get out if here, if this is how the entire night was going to be. Of course I paid for premium seating for me and my wife and our two boys. I stayed as long as I could and started having an A-Fib attack. I told the family I was going out to the car. Went to the car and after the attack was over tried to come back in at intermission. Well, you know the answer already.. Two or Three 18 year old security kids wouldn't let me back in.. Even though my family was standing there begging and pleading with them to let me back in. Never, ever going back to SoWhoCares center. read more

"As we go on .. we remember .. all the times we .. had togetherrrr" .. Yeah, and I still feel nostalgic hearing that song even if it's been awhile since my high school graduation! But on the day of my little brother's grad ceremony (yesterday), I couldn't help but reminisce of when I was actually in those seats. I remember being galvanized by my student body president's speech about becoming eminent individuals going to live a prosperous future, and to overlook the rambunctious trajectories that we all experienced in our senior year. It was because graduating was quite an anomaly since everyone believed that my class was the worst ever in my high school's history! I remembered one of my teachers quitting due to our deplorable behavior, also recalling more than half of the students in my graduating class failing a course or two our freshman year, and at least 60 were suspended in one day to due watching/ instigating a fight. However, in the other hand, my brother's class seemed like my principle's prized possession. Best HSPE scores in the district, more hours of community service in the state, and a Valedictorian having a perfect score on her AP Calculus exam which is achieved only by 1 out of 8 of students in the world. Nothing could have been a better place to exhibit a graduation other than the Showare center! The crowd went bananas after introducing their graduate, and even brought noisemakers even if they weren't allowed. Speakers were clear enough to hear; sooo cleaarrr that I didn't have to clean out my earwax this time! The colossal screens attached from the center of the ceiling captured every pivotal moment; and made sure that they caught my brother smiling from ear to ear after receiving his diploma. Walking out to use the restroom was a challenge however, not only because I either have to give them the butt or the crotch when I walk through, but squeezing myself in a crowded area of less than 2 feet of space. But overall the entire venue was easy to maneuver through, and you'd be like another Forest Gump if you didn't know how to get back to the arena from the restrooms! But you shouldn't expect the Showare Center to be the most relaxing place to watch a show because it isnt the most sanitary and spacious environment to be around. Yet if there is an event, show or game that is worth sacrificing your own comfort, then this for sure could be your cup of tea. My brother's graduation was an enjoyable event, and the center accommodated accordingly to our excitement. Friends, families, and other guests who came had shown tremendous support to their graduates, and their cheery countenance portrayed it perfectly. But I also witnessed seniors break down as this was going to be the last day of seeing each other. But then again .. .. "As their lives change.. for whatever .. they will still be .. friends foreverrr!" read more

Solid venue to see shows here. I had a date night with my 3yr daughter to see Disney on Ice. The show was gear for kids but most of the time I had a great time watching my daughter smile, giggle, and having clap Cinderella toy hands instead of her own hands. Cute. The usher was very friendly and helpful to help us find our seats since we had front seats. Plenty of stadium parking and parking across the street which all was free parking. Plenty of clean bathrooms and enough space for all the vendors to sell collectibles, toys, cotton candy, popcorn, and drinks. I can't even being to count how many times I have been to the ShoWare Center to cheer on our Seattle Thunderbirds! Such a fun time! They've also held the circus, Disney On Ice, concerts, graduations and other events here. I have not attended any events besides hockey games. Parking can be treacherous, so arrive early. There is a garage across the street, a few side lots and another larger lot down the street. Kent Station doesn't allow event parking, but most people park there anyways. The line to get in can get long, but security moves fast. There is only one entrance and it is at the front of the arena. Small place, LOTS of people; be prepared for a lot of congestion before the game and during breaks. The place is U-shaped, you cannot walk in a full circle around. Lots of concession stands, lines get long, they serve the usual: beer, pretzels, hot dogs, popcorn, soda, etc. Pretty expensive too. Last I know of, vertical ID's are not allowed for alcohol purchase. Many bathrooms, lines do not typically get long for those. Few merchandise set ups around and one main "store" when you enter to the right. During Thunderbirds games they have a 50/50 raffle where you can win money, jerseys, "Chuck A Puck," dance contests to ride the Zamboni, and other various raffles. There isn't really a bad seat in the house. It is very small, only like 25 rows in each section. There is a family section that is alcohol free as well. I've sat everywhere but the family section and have never had a bad time. Sitting in the front by the glass is the best though - BUT don't put your drinks on the ledge cause um yeah hockey + players checking each other into the glass = your drink goes flying all over you. Not fun. I did not learn the hard way, but I saw someone else who did! Haaaa. I definetly suggest checking out a few games here! The atmosphere is really fun, and the crowd really gets into the game! Oooo, so shiny and new! With comfy seats--AND cupholders. This really is as good as it gets! Let's see, here's the stats of my visit: 1. Ticket to Thunderbirds game: $22.00 2. Price of a 18-ish oz. Bud Light: $7.00 3. Price of a 18-ish oz. Domestic Draft (dunno which one): $8.00--a much better deal! 4. Temperature in the stadium: 65 degrees (a bit chilly, but, hey, it's ICE hockey, you wuss!) 5. Number of new cars won during the Puck Toss: Zero (I throw like a girl) 6. Mullets spotted: 2 (disappointing!) 7. Average age of hockey players: 17 (so young!) 8. Times "the gloves came off": 5 (satisfactory) Now, I'm no huge hockey fan or anything, but I had a great time here. Though our seats weren't on the 50 yard line or anything, we could still see all the goings-on. I did see that the Harlem Globetrotters and the Lipizzaner Stallions will be performing here in the next few months, so you know that whoever coordinates events here knows what the public wants to see! read more

I frequent the ShoWare Center for Thunderbirds games, and I couldn't think of a better venue for the occasion. I've sat in many different seats in many different locations, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house for a hockey game. They also have lots of concessions located all around the center, so no matter where you are, you aren't far from food. Bathrooms as well, and they're always clean (with the exception of people who miss the trash when throwing away their paper towels and don't care). Parking is a little tricky if you show up late, and you aren't allowed to park at Kent Station for events - so come early. read more

I've been to ShoWare for two events only (hockey and music), but I'm a fan!! It is a quality building and offers intimate contact with the event. In my most recent visit, it was a T-Birds game and I felt like I was on the ice with the players. I doubt that feel will happen in the "new" Seattle Coliseum due to it's size. The building staff couldn't have been nicer nor more helpful. read more

Was here for a community college graduation. Staff was friendly, check in was easy and efficient, seats were definitely more comfortable than most stadiums I've been in, and best of all the restrooms were clean and do not have a foul odor. The only disappointment was how hard it was to get out after the graduation. Seems like there should have been more exits. Overall seems like a pretty good venue! read more
