I'm really sorry I used these movers from North Hollywood for two reasons: (1) Camilo the driver tried to miscalculate the time it took them to arrive at my new home. I corrected him. He then insisted I pay him in cash for 3-1/2 hours time before they unloaded the truck. They were all done in 3 hours. He refused to refund the money for the extra 1/2 hour saying I would have to go through the company, etc., etc. while he had my cash in his hand; (2) While carrying my bedframe through the bedroom door, Adrian, the helper, took a big chunk of wood out of the doorframe - very careless. Again, I was told I'd have to deal with the company for a claim although Camilo joked he could fix it with $3.00 of wood putty from Home Depot! I was not amused. Obviously, I felt ripped off by them. Would never dream of using them again. UPDATE; 11/22/13 Unbelievable! Today, I was threatened by someone from this company because of my unfavorable review of them! They called me and told me that according to their records, I had received a refund on the extra 1/2 hour I was charged. I told him that wasn't true; that Camilo kept my cash and refused to give me a refund. He said he didn't believe me and accused me of just wanting to make them look bad on the internet! I told him that wasn't true. I wrote the review to warn other consumers about them. I said I hadn't looked them up on Yelp before I hired them and wished I had because if I had, I never would have hired them due to their other bad reviews. He asked me why I didn't contact them about a refund. I told him I didn't want the hassle of dealing with them after the way I was treated by the movers. I told him that I told the movers the extra 1/2 hour money they were keeping was their tip and I even gave them another $20. (Given that someone there is lying about the extra 1/2 hour money, what good would it have done me to contact them about it?) He then told me I had 24 hours to take down my Yelp review or he would sue me in court! I asked him what he would sue me for and he didn't answer. He just said again I had 24 hours or he'd see me in court. I'm in shock from the business practices of this company. Wow -- I can't believe the bad reviews about this company -- they were brilliant. Civil, cordial, professional, did everything they said they'd do and more. Patrick at Acclaim kept me updated and informed of everything, everything was confirmed in writing, no rip offs at all, totally up front and the only thing was they turned up early. . . can't faulty them for that. Half the house was packed and half needed packing -- then some needed to go to storage and more had to go to our new house. I also asked them if they shipped to Hawaii and they were totally honest and said we could but it'd be way cheaper if you did it this way. . and then proceeded to advise me on how to save money. They moved my ex wife before me and were great, then moved me and next day I had a last minute emergency and they jumped in and helped on that as well. Totally reasonable charges, people were great (have experienced three crews) and never stopped working. We got them lunch and "they" insisted they stop the "clock" while they lunched. Absolutely brilliant -- can't fault them at all in any way. So in total thus far THREE EXPERIENCES, all of them brilliant. Would we use them again!? In a heartbeat. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Sorry I didn't read the reviews sooner. First problem was the estimate. The cost went up by a third. When I called to complain/inquire, I was told it was only an estimate. So don't trust the price they give you. The final cost didn't include subtracting the $100 deposit I had already paid. That took three phone calls trying to get someone to confirm the actual price I would be owing. I was given the day and two hour window my belongings were to arrive. A half hour after that time had passed I called to check the status. Then, the driver called and told me his truck broke down and he was still 250 miles away. I am not unreasonable. Trucks break down. I understand that. However, they knew several hours earlier that they were not going to make it that day. A courtesy phone call would have been nice. After having complained once again how this has been a horrible experience, someone called me that evening asking what they could do to make me happy. They were having a meeting first thing in the morning and would call me then - 9:00 central time. At 11:30 I received a call from someone different saying how I was their number one priority. I told them how someone was supposed to call me 2 1/2 hours ago but did not. I also told them how that was the service I expected from them. I didn't take the time to talk because the movers were there. They never called back. When the movers arrived they began rolling the dolly of boxes across hard wood floors that they didn't take the time to cover. I didn't complain because by this time I just wanted my stuff. We hired this company because they gave us a great quote based on how many bedrooms, boxes we already boxed, and pictures. The quote was for $4482. After they came to our house, boxed and wrapped our stuff, and loaded 3/4 of the truck....then told us it would be over $10,000. A little late to allow us to change our minds! It ended up being $10,223. Then they told us they were going to deliver our stuff to our storage on 10-9-17. They picked up our stuff on 10-4-17. We paid for our storage and started our drive from California to Indiana. No show and no call on the 9th. They lied to us several times as to why they didn't have our delivery on time. They finally delivered our stuff on 10-25-17. 1/4 of our stuff was NOT on the truck. Today is the 30th, and they still can't find our stuff. We keep getting the run around, lied to, and we paid we're forced to pay in full, before they would unload our stuff off the truck! When we call for customer service or dispatch, no one ever answers. The only one who will answer the phone is the sales department with zero help and a lot of BS. When I ask for a manager they always tell me they will have one call within a couple of hours....never a call back! Please beware of this company!!!!! They are horrible. For a company that was pretty good the first time around this company REALLY DROPPED THE BALL when we hired them a second time. I'm writing this review on YELP because I found them through Yelp. My partner and I were making a small move from North Hollywood to the Granada Hills area. We hired them in early January 2012, one Sunday afternoon to help us load up our POD that we had delivered a few days earlier. The agreement was 3 guys for a three hour minimum for about $300. Not bad at all. The guys showed up on time and after what seemed like a mild confrontation when I was told that I was obviously not going to get my full house into a 16' POD (which I told them to move only the bigger things and fill in the gaps with the smaller boxes) they did really well. There work was fast, productive, and for the most part professional. My word of advice is too if you're thinking you're going to need moving blankets in advance GET THEM. They overcharged us waayyyy too much for 6 moving blankets. The reason I mention this is because when they were giving us a quote for a full move and storage they said they'd include the cost of the blankets and take them back after the move to the house. They charged us for them because we only hired them for the hourly and REFUSED to buy them back when we tried to hire them again to help us unload. And that brings me to when everything went bad. We hired them a SECOND time. About 3 or so weeks late; they showed up to our location over 4 and a half hours late. They said they got a last minute call for a move earlier in the morning that was supposed to be a quick move and it took way longer than it was supposed to. I actually took this as 'we thought we could get a half hour in somewhere else and charge them for a 3 hour minimum and then get over to your place and move you with a 3 hour minimum.' They were supposed to arrive sometime between 8 and 10am. They called and said they were leaving the other job at 10am. They didn't show up until 12:40! The problem here was that my partner who was the only one home HAD to be out the door by 2 to go to work. When he brought that up we also called the main office and told them OK you can move us but we're not paying the 3 hour minimum. The receptionist at the office refused to approve that, and the movers refused no negotiate even though THEY WERE CLEARLY THE ONES AT FAULT HERE. When I finally got on the phone with the booking representative, who is supposedly also the job manager, he said he wouldn't negotiate and that their policy. 'Isn't showing up on time your policy too?' I said - he gave me the passive aggressive rude 'I'm sorry you feel that way." no - uh-uh that means you're sorry but you're not admitting fault. I told him we're done and we sent the movers home. We feel like a girl who was impressed and scored on the first date, and then ignored on the second date. You lose Acclaimed - you really screwed the pooch on us. PS - Update 2/15/12 8:30PM - about 2 hours after I posted this review I got a call from their representative trying to make good- That's a little like closing the barn doors after the horse has run out- What can't this company understand about doing it right the first time when they're supposed to? The company refused to give us our customer copy of the credit card receipt. We have followed up with 6 phone calls asking for an invoice to be sent with no avail. I keep getting the promises that it will be done the next day. When I asked to speak with a boss or supervisor, they were allegedly not in the office. This has been a corporate move and a paid invoice is required. Plus they charged us @ an extra $500 over the estimate. When I received the quote from Jaime, he told me that the moving truck was filled to max capacity & that we were going to have to move the king bed on the back of the truck. I was instructed to call the office with any changes to the quote. I called Jaime to tell him that we were going to have a change. We would not be bringing a refrigerator & instead we would be bringing a Craftsman tool box of similar size & weight. Jaime told me not to worry @ it. That was the only change, so the estimate is what we should have been charged. Without permission, the movers turned on our air conditioning when they were moving, while all of the doors were open. They also had suspicious behavior like carrying an air freshener spray in every room they worked in, which I suspect was used to mask smoking in our house. They did not supply enough wardrobe boxes & our clothes were delivered in boxes that were substandard & did not properly care for our expensive suits & gowns. I was told that the movers would reassemble all of the furniture, yet they didn't reassemble our king bed & crib. The movers did not move a big plant pot that they were reminded @ several times. They had moved the big plant pot next to the moving van & then they tried to hide it by moving it to the side of the house. Frankly, I was terrified of the lead mover on the offload of the trip. AVOID THIS COMPANY! they are scammers and liars and will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to get your business and then they lie, overcharge, and scam you. I have never been so offended by the lack of general respect for other people. Jamie is incredibly unprofessional and dishonest: he lied to us from the moment he stepped into my home. He told us the move was going to be $1100 for a move of a very little amount of stuff from Los Angeles to Denver. After they loaded all of my stuff onto their trucks, they said that the new total was $1900...Now it's 38 DAYS LATER (Jamie has avoided our calls all month, how professional, right?) and right now i have the RUDEST, scariest Russian movers outside of my building yelling at me and telling me that if i don't pay an extra $100, then they are going to leave with all my stuff.... Jamie told us that the company would NOT subcontract our long-distance move, which is exactly what they did. And now, they want more money. You see, what Jamie failed to inform us is that they have the option to charge you $100 per every 50 ft they have to move your stuff. I will never use this company again. So I have to take the opportunity to let others know that it is beyond stupid to depend on this company to deliver ANY of your belongings. You may have gotten a few other quotes to be sure that going with Acclaimed is the right decision. We all know that most companies lowball you just to get their foot in the door. You should have at least 130% of the estimate to dedicate to your move, just to be safe. A company called National Van Lines called to give me an estimate after I submitted some information online. Their quote was pretty high and I waited for some more estimates to come in. James from Acclaimed Movers called and I made an appointment for someone to come by, look at my load, and give me an estimate (not a binding contract). James, himself, came and wrote out the original estimate for $1700. After considering several alternatives, I scheduled a pickup date and paid the $100 deposit to Acclaimed. On the pickup date James and "First Day on the Job" are 1 hour late and take 4 hours to complete the job. They mark everything with these stickers and tell you that's how they keep inventory. It's actually part of the contract that you have to sign before they leave and when they drop off your stuff. LOOK AT THAT STICKER! It says National Van Lines on it. That's because Acclaimed Movers is actually a BROKER for National Van Lines, the same company that I thought I chose not to use. That inventory system is genius for THIEVES actually because what you're signing relieves the companies of liability since your signature acknowledges reception of the inventory even though you probably haven't had the chance to sort through it before they leave. You can file a claim but be sure you have all the proof to back up your claim. You best have photos of what's in each of your boxes with the inventory box number showing. Impossible you say? What do you know? It is impossible. Don't be the next VICTIM!!! Your stuff clearly doesn't stay on the truck so they take it off in a warehouse, pack it all up again (with other people's load) when you call and asked that it be delivered, and then drop off what they ASSURE you is the whole load. The drivers/movers pressure you for a tip and disappear. After unpacking my boxes, there were notable items missing. I spoke with Rebecca and James at Acclaimed several times regarding this matter and after waiting 2 weeks for "the driver to get back" Rebecca called me and said he didn't have any extra boxes. WEIRD to receive a call a month and a half later from a company that is also missing things and has some extra that doesn't belong to them. That company won't send it to me though because they want their belongings returned as well. All in all, I ended up paying $2750!!! Why? That's ridiculous, right? Moving day they're packing up your things and all the while leading you to believe that total costs are really close to the estimate. After the entire truck is loaded the contract and calculator come out. You gasp at the numbers but what are you supposed to do?? You have plans to leave town within the next 2 days and your entire load including what feels like your heart at this point is on that truck. Seriously though, if you get to this point, get your stuff off that truck!!!!! Kenny Q Review: Very suspicious. You speak english? You sound like you might be one of the foreigners that dropped off my stuff... and forgot a couple of the boxes; then refused to let me even take a peek in the truck. Hi fellow Yelpers! I thought I ought to write a review, since I have been referring my "move-around" friends to Acclaimed ...recently one said, "Are you sure? Their reviews are "iffy"." Well, I can only speak from my personal experience, and it was suggested I write my own review. So here goes. I had a Very Very Very expensive family heirloom china cabinet that I had to send to my sister in Manhatten. I was nervous because the piece is one of a kind. Jaime -owner, came over himself and measured it, then sent over the most professional crew to wrap and crate the piece. It arrive, all in one piece, at my sister's flat in under two weeks (which was perfect timing), they uncrated it ... Successfully. By the way, The price to do this was under the 6 other quotes I received. Of the many people I have referred, all have been quite happy with the service. My experience was not good. Their initial estimate was attractive but the actual cost was much higher. The moving crew threatened to add more nickel and dime charges if I didn't give them a generous tip. Then they lost three large boxes containing our kitchen pots and pans, dishes and bowls, and the large mirror that mounts on the bedroom dresser, among other things. Their tracking process is poor. We just used this company to do a large warehouse/office move and were very impressed! The guys all showed up on time and were ready to go when they got to our location. We had lots to move and these guys did it ALL with ease and professionalism! The fees were set forth from the get-go, so there were no surprises at the end. I might not have used these people if I had read some of the reviews but my experience this past Saturday was an excellent experience. There were three people and they were very nice and they got right to loading and an hour later they were at my new destination and unloaded everything, I must say my experience was a great one. THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY! Do not use this company! In a experience with this company, moving from California to Arizona it was a very unsatisfied experience! A lot of furniture was damaged or missing parts. When they arrived at our house they dropped furniture off the truck and landed in the street. They didn't even have their own employes unloading the furniture. They picked some guys off the side of the road to help take furniture off the truck. The guys worked really hard and were very professional. All our belongings arrived in good shape without damage to anything. They took great care in packing some antique pieces. I filed a claim per their instructions for my damaged items and was told I would be contacted for a remedy. I demanded someone come to my home to see the damages and Jamie refused. To this day, I never heard back from them. To give you an idea of how terrible this experience was, let me tell you more. I was charged $1,180.41 when I was quoted $572 to move my 590sq ft apartment (and to stop at my 10 x 10 storage room) to Canoga Park from Simi Valley (storage in Chatsworth to only drop off a few items). They didn't even move everything I was quoted for!!! I ended up moving the majority of my kitchen and closet items. They charged me a ridiculous amount, four hours of drive time (from Simi Valley to Chatsworth for a stop and then to Canoga Park), a three man rate when not all of them were working, and damaged many of my items. If no solution is offered to me by November 30th, I will be filing a small claim against them before the statute of limitations runs out! read more

I am beyond disappointed and dissatisfied with Acclaimed Movers. I decided to use this company for a a 20 mile move partly because of how experienced and professional Jamie presented himself when giving me an initial estimate. However, I misinterpreted his professionalism and experience for being slick and shady. As some of the previous reviews say, they definitely do not honor binding estimates. I ended up paying over $6,000 the original estimate, and my belongings were not unloaded from the moving truck until I paid them a significant amount of more money (which was never discussed). Additionally, I understand that it's inevitable for a few things to come back broken or damaged when going through a move, however, it was beyond excessive with the amount of stuff that came back broken and damaged. A couple of my belongings were never even returned! I paid extra money for my oil paintings to be specially wrapped because they claimed that the bubble wrap would ruin the paint, but ended up receiving all my oil paintings covered in bubble wrap. Extra items were added to my inventory list that were never even moved, and I was promised this items would be removed. Of course, they never were. Do not use this company!! read more

Horrible company! I am surprised they have not been investigated by anyone yet. Misrepresentation among other issues. Borderline illegal. We Have legal representation involved to help us. They are unprofessional, scream at you, avoid calls , won't return your calls and say " if your lucky will send your belongings to you". It was picked up on May 30th. Guaranteed to be at our new residence by June 7th. They said around 10 days max possible 14 days worst case scenario. Manager mike avoids and won't return calls. I was hung up on when asking where our stuff was. Manager Jamie was belligerent and screamed in the phone. I couldn't even understand him. Saturday he stated "if your lucky your stuff will go out on Monday"... Guess we're not so lucky. It's Thursday and our stuff is still waiting. It's in California and were in floridA. It's now June 12th and have no idea where or when we will see our belongings. Tough when you have a family and they play games like this. Company needs to be investigated . read more

This company has all kinds of hidden fees that they don't tell you about. I had already put blankets and tape on my furniture but to delay time they retaped everything and then charged me for the tape. They took a driving route that took much longer then it should have and then charged me double for the drive time and a huge amount for fuel cost. The men were friendly and quick with removing furniture from the truck once we got there but it felt like most of the time they were trying to delay to charge me more money. With all the hidden charges and taxes it ended up costing me a couple hundred more then I had excepted. But the worst part is that they damaged a lot of my furniture. There is a huge grease stain on the back of my couch now and my wooden chairs and entertainment center have nicks and scratch marks. I wish I had checked the reviews on Yelp beforehand. I checked the reviews a month ago after I had already used this company and I'm noticing now a month later that all of the many bad reviews that were here a month ago have mysteriously disappeared. My advice is to find a company that has flat hourly rates and no hidden charges and wants to get it done quick but with care. If that's the kind of company you're looking for, this is not the one for you. read more

My sister's things were picked up in May, 2014 and they still have not delivered her belongings. She is now in Florida. The date is June 17, 2014. She has tried to contact the company only to be told her things are still in Los Angeles but will not disclose the exact location. The company has gone as far as yell at her advising that the cops will be called claiming harassment. I think it is more like theft on their part. Look at the reviews of this company before using and check out their history. You will find many of the same accounts. Typically the company will deliver the belongings with items missing and boxes that have been opened. Time will tell if this is the case with my sister's things. A promise of 7-10 days for delivery has turned into an unknown delivery date. She and my 3 yr old nephew have only a suit case of clothes and a few toys that they could travel with in an empty house. I would NEVER use or refer this company to anyone!!!! My husband was out of the country when we hired acclaimed movers to pack and move our entire house, as I could not watch 6 guys all day myself, Im not sure when the theft occurred. At the end of the day, the guys said they needed food, I didn't follow them, trustingly I went to the bank then met them at my storage. Being that everything was boxed and wrapped, I could not tell what was there and what wasn't at the time. But months later, moving into our new home, as we were unpacking everything I realized a LOT of things were stolen! My husbands tools being the most expensive, along with many kitchen items and even my sons fishing poles. I kept trying to call the company and speak with someone, anyone about the issue and could get a hold of non one and no one would return my calls. they kept saying the person I needed to speak with was always out of town. My daughter recently moved from Los Angeles to Miami, Fl. Acclaimed movers claimed to be the company that could help her with that move. My daughter has been living in an empty apartment for six weeks because Acclaimed failed to get her furniture to her. She has had to sleep on a hard floor or uncomfortable sofa left by last tenant and she starting having back problems because of it. She is a manager of a very affluent restaurant and has to dress accordingly. This was hard to do while her things were held hostage. Not impossible because unlike Acclaimed Movers, my daughter is very professional and made sure she had things to fall back on,. They then asked her for another 800 dollars for her things. After holding her belongings hostage for six weeks they finally arrived with them. Only to sit outside and asked her for another 500 dollars with some made up excuse, they would then begin to take her belongings off the truck. They finally unloaded her things and left her to put all things together. As they drove off my daughter noticed she now has no bed rails to her 3,000 bed. read more

Moving across country from Bakersfield Ca to Venice Fl. Went with these CLOWNS because they had a AAA rating with BBB. Talked to Patrick who gave us a time of 10-14 days standard going across country but might be shorter. No problem. We have 3 kids and one with special needs . My wife is also pregnant and I'm away with work. So doing this ourselves would have been really tough. I got a call from the JOKE this company is and was asked what would be a good day for delivery. I said 5th of June . I said the 5th hoping on a short delivery. I was told that's no problem we just need a date to work with. Both me and my wife always expect the worse but had no problems with the 10-14 days. My wife called once she got to florida on the 8th of June to find out about our stuff. The reply we got from one person was " it's still in California and we will try and get it out has soon as possible but we have 30 days to delivery it". In the mean time it got picked up on the 30 th of May and was told it would be shipped out on the 31st. At no time did they say 30 days. The person she talked to once they found out we had kids said " They try and get it out quick because of the kids" . What does that matter if you pay for a service. So if you don't have kids your less important? There is no way we would have gone with these CLOWNS if it was 30 days because of the needs of our children . Then we were told if we wanted it sooner we would had to pay extra and it would be expedited to us sooner. At no time was this ever told to us in any conversation with this company. After phoning a couple times and talking to different people who all gave us different times. Patrick still said it was still standard 10 -14 days. He said he would check on it and get back to us. Well some CLOWN name Jamie got on the phone and tried to be a smart ass to my wife. Telling my wife she should have prepared for the worst and he'll send it out when he's ready.Told us he has 30 days and it might go out on the 9th of June if we are lucky!! It's funny when a guy tries to be tough and a bully on the phone knowing you can't walk into his office because you are not in the state. I'll get back to that thought in a minute. Mean time we have had our lawyer call and he got the same answer of 10-14 days from Patrick. Then he talked to another manager who once he found out who he is won't call him back. Now we get back to Jamie. Our lawyer talked to Jamie who once again tried to be a tough guy. This time Jamie went Porky Pig syndrome and hummed and hawedand didn't know what to say once our lawyer told him who he was. The joke is on them cause the company I work for is looking for a moving company. I'm in pro sports with a team in MLB and guys are always looking for a solid company and willing to pay good money for help. Theses guys blew it.. By the way getting back to not being in the state I have a ticket booked and flying out and walking straight into to Jamie's office . Going to see how much of a smart ass he is face to face.
