Food: We ordered jollof rice with chicken stew, egusi spinach with fried fish + fufu, and hibiscus drink. The portion sizes were large so come in with a big appetite and bigger stomach. The jollof rice was a simple rendition of perfectly seasoned, fluffy rice that packed deep West African spice with every bite. The accompanying red chicken stew was addictively tangy and had enough spice to singe the taste buds. So yummy. The spinach had an unctuous vegetative flavor that paired nicely with the dough-y mellow fufu. The only thing I didn't like was the bits of fish cooked in that still contained bones. Felt like I had to be cautious going through the spinach. The big fried fish pieces were simple and tasty but had a similar but lesser problem. A bit of a first world problem, I know, but it makes the experience just slightly less enjoyable. The hibiscus drink was perfumed with floral sweet and sour. Service: Service was immaculate. The wonderful staff behind the counter asked if it was our first time and had us sampling all the different rices and stews/soups to make sure we liked what we ordered. Ambiance: Very much a hole in the wall in East Harlem with very few tables. Simple but effective. The predominant foot traffic was all the food service drivers coming in and out of the establishment (which there was a healthy flow of).

This place is great if you want to try West African food and you're not as familiar. The food was absolutely full of flavor, fresh and the employees were so patient and kind. They gave us samples of each item and everything so we could be sure of what we wanted. I definitely recommend to check it out!

I've wanted to try west African food for years, and I was so glad I had the opportunity to do that at Accra! The line wasn't too long after work, and it seemed like everyone gets takeout here. The lady behind the counter asked if it was my first time here, and she gave me samples of all of the soups to pick out what I liked the most. I thought everything was delicious, but my favorites were the okra and the palm nut. And I definitely had to get fufu :) The okra was super slippery, which was so nice with the fufu. The palm nut was also very savory, and I've never had anything like it before. I got the mixed meat, which is just a bunch of cuts of beef, lamb, and goat taken from all of the sauces. One thing I didn't expect is that the okra and palm nut soups were mixed together, which was still yummy but you won't get to really try it separately.

As a birthday treat, I wanted some fufu to remind me of home. I decided to give this location another chance and ordered delivery through the Africa dishout app. I was surprised to see my order was accepted, which meant they were open! Fast forward to my food arriving, and I was in heaven! The only reason I give it four stars is because the soup was a little too spicy for me and the fufu ball was MASSIVE. Got halfway through and wasn't sure how I was going to get through the rest. But it was good!

Great spot to grab and go in Harlem. I ordered online but you can also walk up and choose as you wish down the assembly line style setup they have in the restaurant. I got the jollof rice which has rice and chicken. The curry sauce was extremely flavorful, rich, delicious, and even had a little kick of spice. The lunch serving I got was pretty big so I ended up saving it for lunch the next day. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return when I happen to be in the area!

Ordered food through doordash. I only ordered Banku and Peanut Stew since I have never tried West African food and wanted to ease in. I was very satisfied with the portion of the food as well as the taste. This experience has made me feel confident enough to want to order egusi and okra stew next time.

I came by on a Sunday around 1PM while running an errand in the area and went with a to go order and was not disappointed. I ordered large jollof with chicken ($16 - cash only). Sadly, beef or goat weren't available and turkey tails would require some additional time to prepare. The unavailable items were no problem though and the jollof was satisfying on its own. Hefty portion with a great flavor and nice spicy little kick. Would definitely stop by again if in the area and craving African food.

    Egusi soup mixed meat

This review is for Accra express on 125. The Egusi soup tasted heavily like onions n peppers, did not have the rich yellowish color of melon seeds you would expect from ordering this soup.First time being disappointed by the flavor and texture as it is my go to. I of course tried to push thru and eat it ,but yeah no

Will not be returning. The service was always bad, but the food was good. Now the food is trash. Just pure garbage. Very disappointed. I waisted $17 on something I cannot eat. The meat is hard and dry and so is the rice. Will not be going back!

Nothing fancy, just delicious food for an unbelievable price. When you walk into this large spacious "cafeteria" with steam trays, it looks clean and quiet. There was a lady at the cash register that wasn't too helpful, but I guess the communication barrier played a part. At $8.99 per pound, you can really fill up here for an insanely good price. My favorites have been the beef dishes and therefore often skip all the chicken items. However, feel free to make a plate anyway you like. At the end of the day, I'm sure it'll be great.

The spicing can be quite different from other styles of cuisine, but whether or not you like it is a personal decision. I liked most of the food that was offered. I found the baked chicken to be excellent. The stewed chicken and the goat dish were also very good. Vegetables are all excellent...from greens to cabbage to carrots...all are delicious. The whole fish has a distinctive strong taste that took some getting used to...perhaps a lot of paprika and red pepper, but I'm not really sure...certainly a nice portion size. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended.

This spot is located inside an African museum. It is a small place when you walk in. The food is all cooked and laid out on trays. I asked the attendant what is the best dish and he asked if I want spicy or not. I said no spicy and he made the chicken bowl recommendation. The bowl was delicious ! Rice was cooked al dente, chicken juicy, beans so tender and topped with plantains! I have not been a fan of plantains but this one was delicious. And flavor profile was strong and hearty. My fiancé ordered a Yassa Yassa Grilled Chicken Bowl and I ordered a custom bowl. The delivery was very quick and it got to where we were faster than I expected which was a plus. Service was very good! I got a call saying one of the sauces I wanted was out unfortunately but they were helpful in providing me with alternatives. The Yassa Yassa bowl was very delicious, full of bold flavors, and a beautiful contrast between the spicy aromatic jollof, the sweet plantains, and the tangy onion sauce. The chicken in this bowl was definitely a little overdone and could have used more flavor. For my custom bowl, I got a chicken suya bowl with jollof as my base, plantains and the kale stew (Efo riro ) as sides and initially wanted the peanut (mafe) sauce which they were out of so I also tried the yassa or onion sauce. My bowl was absolutely delicious! Same bold flavors as the first bowl but the chicken was juicy, tender, and well spiced. Made all the difference! Both came with a nice chimichurri like spicy sauce called rof which I really enjoyed since it added a spicy, herbal, bright kick to the bowl. This place has amazing flavor and is very filling! I love the fast casual nature of it and how nourishing it feels. This is basically a Chipotle but West African inspired. The portion of meat was very generous in each bowl which was nice. The jollof was amazing! Highly recommend trying one of their suya meats since the seasoning is incomparable! Will be going back again for more bowls in the future.

We were an odd party of 5 and it was packed inside - they played Yahtzee with a couple parties who didn't yet have food and were seated at larger tables for their small party just so we could sit. Then, moments after a table left they moved us and merged tables so we could comfortably dine. This was so intelligent and comforting imo. Most managers/owners would be afraid to do that, but when you're dealing with mom & pop cultured businesses they make you feel a part of the village so make it work for everybody to eat & enjoy. They handled it professionally and with respect to the customer as we listened in to how they managed. They were fast, helpful, on it from entry to exit! I appreciated the cushioned seating. The fresh ginger juice was amazing especially after all the singing we'd done. They were helping us pronounce the dishes and the presentation was nice. The portion was large enough for leftovers. While they were out of most menu items and handling a large catering order, it seems they're popular for a reason and I'm happy they're doing well. Go, enjoy!!
