The nurse read the paperwork and said it was only an "inflamed esophagus " it's treatable and we don't feel comfortable euthanizing her. The dog could barely lift her head. I said she hasn't eaten and now she won't drink. She won't take any meds. She wouldn't even eat doggie ice cream anymore. The nurse shrugged her shoulders and said we could just leave her there or take her to another clinic. By 11 pm she was dead at home. I do not recommend the SPCA. The nurse never paid the dog an ounce of attention. She read the vet report and didn't ask any further questions. When we tried to volunteer information, she just kept shrugging her shoulders.

From seeing "Scampi" on their Instagram, to communicating about her and coming in to meet her, we had a great experience. No pressure was put on us to take her home, they let us spend time with her downstairs and let us get to know her, which made us more confident in our ability to make the right decision for her and for us. Clearly we elected to take the chance and make her a part of our family - and nearly five months later, she has become an integral member of our little pack. Despite her early story being unknown and having had babies before she was taken in by Street Tails (by way of ACCT), she's seemingly a happy and healthy little one who just didn't get to live her best life soon enough. We are happy to give her just that - but we have Street Tails to thank for allowing us to be her paw-rents. I would definitely adopt from them again when we are ready to add to our fur family.

They continually answer our questions and welcome us to meet more of their cats. We adopted our first cat and then a kitten from foster homes through PAWS - they made the process very simple for us! One note is that it may have helped we also are in Old City, so it was easy to come in person and get a response in case we did not hear back via email. I believe her name was Snow and she was grey. The women who denied her adoption to me had a less feminine look and it felt as if she was trying to intimidate me or coerce me to violence even though I showed no aggression. The blond woman who was at front desk when you first walk in got up and walked away from the desk without saying a work to me during checkout. I feel she was very disrespectful yet I remained calm and cooperative. I would hate to feel as though I was discriminated against for my race for being more "aggressive" as I did not discriminate against the brunette woman who denied me my first pick kitten for her possible sexuality. Neither racial or sexual orientation discrimination is right yet I felt racial on my end with no disrespect to either women. The red head woman who had to finish my checkout was much kinder and made me feel better about adopting my second choice Shadow. Both the brunette and blonde seemed much nicer to the Caucasian couple that came in as I was leaving who there to pick up foster kittens. Everyone should be treated equally whether race, sexual orientation or disability. They also should not be denied an adoption due to feline hiv as it is very treatable. The cats have a gum-ball machine filled with treats . There is a free snack area, coffee and tea bar, and a stocked refrigerator full of sodas and water. The decor is PURRFECT. So many cool things pieces of decor throughout the cafe. The bathroom decor is hilarious. Instead of posting photos, I'm gonna post a video that I made for my personal social media. Submitted (electronic) application on October 9, application was approved October 14, kittens selected October 18. The application process was straightforward. It asks for personal references, probes for pet history, and has pointed questions to determine if you understand how to care for a cat. I got an email the next morning saying my application looked great and they would process it ASAP. It did take until Oct 14 to get confirmation that the application was approved, and I did have to follow up to get the confirmation. It seems as though the only contact there is Shauna, the owner/operator, and she is a busy lady. We visited the cat cafe on Oct 18 to meet the prospective kittens. The cafe has a nice, comfortable, very cat friendly area to mingle with the kitties. There are nests and beds all over that the cats are just chilling out in. All the cats were friendly and well socialized. They have the kittens in a separate room to keep them from getting bullied, and that is a comfy space for cats as well. There are plenty of hideouts for the kittens, as well as toys to play with them. The kittens were mostly happy to be cuddled and picked up, with a few exceptions for very shy or wary kittens. We met Shauna, who is very friendly and knowledgeable. After selecting the kittens we wanted to adopt, Shauna asked me to email her letting her know which ones we want. They don't do same-day adoptions. All the cats are fully vetted prior to adoption: vaccinated, spayed/neutered, flea and tick treated, microchipped, and tested negative for feline aids. Considering this is done by the rescue, the $150 adoption fee per cat (or buy-one-get-one!) is extremely reasonable. Due to my schedule I won't bring the fur babies home until early November, and Shauna was more than happy to let them stay at the cafe for a couple of extra weeks.

While browsing Petfinder one day at work, I happened upon a cute little tuxedo cat named Bouncer. He seemed absolutely perfect for us and we decided that he would finally be the one. Kathy at Green Street Rescue is great to work with! She was very quick to respond to our emails and to approve our application. She did her research on us too, which made me even more comfortable with the organization (for the sake of the kitties!). Even though we had some issues making a time to meet and pick up Bouncer, she worked with our schedule and made time to have us come over. One of the best things about Green Street is that Kathy let us have a trial period - we didn't need to pay her as soon as we picked him up. She made sure we took him home and that we were comfortable, he was comfortable, and that it was a match. Luckily, he's become a great addition and we're very happy. Next time I have a friend looking to adopt a cat, I will recommend them to Green Street Rescue.

We were able to bring him back within the same week. Just make sure that your references are available and know to pick up Operation Ava's phone call to make the process go smoothly and quickly. My favorite part about Operation Ava was that they kept the dogs in private rooms, instead of crates.
