Beware! all who like to have their pupillary distance number! They will not provide you with your pupillary distance number, even when you spend almost $300. of your own money, not counting all the money they charge your insurance. They give you the excuse that it's a liability. It's not. Extremely disappointed! I wish they would have said something up front as I would have gone elsewhere. When I mentioned this, I was told there aren't that many people that request the PD? I was offered to speak with the regional manager when she "comes in" the next day and of course she never called. The doctor here does the exam but doesn't say anything about your eye health, although he'll answer your questions. read more

I was a new customer for AccuVision in Round Lake Beach IL and my glasses were no longer getting the "job done". The exam I had was more complete than any other exam I've had (been wearing glasses for over 60 years!) and I felt very confident in the prescription and testing for issues with my eyes. After the exam Nestor and his team did a fantastic job getting me into the frames and lenses that I wanted / needed. The facility is clean and state of the art and everyone I had interaction with was friendly and so very customer service driven. I recommend AccuVision to kid's, seniors (I watched them take care of an older gentleman and they were so kind and sweet to him as he struggled through some of the process) and anyone else. This business refused my eye exam scheduled for today on the basis of me not wearing a mask. Masks are optional in the state of Illinois. I wonder why businesses like this think they can discriminate against people based on their medical records or mask tolerance? Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you justify it. Terrible experience here. I scheduled an appointment in advance. When I arrived, the desk staff greeted me, signed me in, etc. I asked if I could look at frames while I waited and she told me to go ahead. All of their frames are locked up, but no one offered to unlock the case. Instead,I took a seat and eventually was called back for my pre-test. The woman who administered the tests was ditzy and unhelpful. One of the tests legitimately did *not* work for me, and despite my telling her that, she told me to keep trying. After my pre-test was done, I went back out to the waiting area. And waited. And waited. And waited. Forty minutes past my scheduled appointment time, I walked out (and called my insurance to tell them to deny a claim for an exam since an exam never happened). There was no explanation of why there was a 40 minute wait, no apology, nothing. Skip it. You can do better. read more

I have been to Pearle Vision and America's Best and after feeling rushed, not listened to and paying hundreds of dollars for a prescription that was nothing more than a magnification, I decided to go to Accuvision. Dr. Kwon got it right the first time. I just got my progressives and I can finally see! He took his time, listened, and explained how my eyes were changing. When I picked up my new glasses, staff took their time to explain to me how to use them. I did not feel rushed and they were very friendly! read more

TL;DR: Do not use their web portal and you need to follow-up to make sure your items are in. Dr. Kwon is great, but the front desk staff may need more training. I really hate to be "that guy" but when it is the same situation more than two times, I know it isn't isolated and others should be aware. The online appointment setup would be wonderful, if it went straight to reception appointment calendar, but it appears that isn't the case. Issue 1 & 2 - I setup an appointment in April in the morning and received a call in the evening that the appointment was no longer available. The receptionist attributed the issue to a "switch in the back office system." No problem, I understand. Long story short, great appt, I order contacts. I was told "we'll call you when the contacts are in and it can take about 7-10 days." I never got a call after over 3 weeks, I call and am told they still aren't in. Within an hour of that call in May, I receive a return call that my contacts have been there on a shelf and they forgot to call me. Issue 3 - In July, I once again make an appointment in their web portal at ~9 AM for two different appointments. I received a call at 5:55 PM to inform me that those appointments have been given to other customers and the next available is 2 weeks out. I asked why did that occur and was told that the receptionist forgot/was too busy all day to check the web appointments and add them to the appointment calendar. read more

Recently visited AccuVision for what I was concerned with may have been pink eye. I don't wear glasses so it's been a while since I've been to the eye doc and was a little nervous. The doctor was so nice! He did a thorough workup and talked through all my symptoms and concerns. He was super knowledgeable and assuring. It was great to speak to a professional that I really felt was concerned not only with my condition, but getting me the right information to resolve the problem and put me at ease. Turns out it was just irritation, but I appreciated that he gave me what I needed and didn't try to push other treatment or services that were unnecessary. Dr. Kwon is very knowledgeable and takes time to talk with you, rather than at you. I give it only three stars because half the staff are extremely helpful, while the other half seems intent on rushing you out the door when their waiting room is packed in the evening. I had asked the sales rep for soft nose pads when I ordered my glasses, and when I picked up my glasses, another staff member explained the type of glasses I ordered didn't have removable nose pads, and even said, 'Look see? The nose pads are all one piece...these glasses are lighter than your old ones, you won't even feel it.' I checked the manufacturers website and it said nose pads could be ordered through your optician. I went back with the skin rubbing off my nose, and explained what happened to a gentleman who adjusts the glasses, he said, 'We have those nose pads in the back!' He replaced them, and I was out the door in 10 minutes. At least I know who avoid, if I ever go back... read more

When I moved to the area a few years back, I asked a friend for a recommendation for eye care for the family. She recommended AccuVISION and we've been coming here ever since! The staff and doctor are great (not only with adults but also our 5 year old). Even when my husband was having issues with his glasses last year, they kept working with him to get it right! On my most recent visit, the woman who did the "eye puff" test was actually able to make the test tolerable :-)!!! I couldn't believe it! I have gone here for 16 years, since I was in sixth grade. I went in for an eye exam to update my prescription, which hasn't changed in years. I was asked several times if I wanted glasses, I declined because my current pair are fine and I didn't need new glasses, felt very pushy every time they asked. I was then told that my current contact lens brand was discontinued and that I would need to pick a new pair and do a contact lens fitting. My brand was available on 1800 Contacts so I let them know I would prefer to get them online and avoid a $60 out of pocket contact lens fitting. I paid $10 for the exam and did not schedule a second visit. I received a bill for the $60 fitting fee a few weeks later and figured this was an error since I did not have the fitting and purchase my current brand online. I then received a collections call the first week in December! I have never been sent to collections for anything nor have any of my other previous visits over the 16 years not been paid up front or on time. When I called the office I was treated like I had never been in there and that it is standard procedure to send a patient to collections if they do not pay within 60 days. I was floored, the person I spoke with in accounting let me know that she can have the office manager call me about the issue and I still have not received a call or voicemail regarding the issue. I am not sure of why there has been such a negative change recently in the level of service, but I will not be returning to this business for any service and would recommend people look else where for their vision needs. read more

I. Add an eye exam appt because I was having trouble seeing mid to long distances. After a very careful exam, Dr. Kwon said that a correction with glasses wouldn't help me very much. My problem was cataracts are worse. He patiently explained all my questions. He never once appeared to hurry or tire of my questions. He could easily have giving me a new scrip and made more than the $49 exam fee. I've already recommended him to a friend. read more

TLDR: They messed up my glasses requiring a remake of the entire thing, the re-make was delayed, and not even an apology was given to make up for it. Doctors are great here, sales staff not at all. The eye exam was great, the doctor was very informative and was very nice. It's the only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. There was an error with my glasses that required a remake. It was admitted that it was a fault of the sales associate, and not anything I did. I do not fault him for this, mistakes happen, we're all human. There was a delay in the order, and my new-new pair were delayed by a few days. Since i already had a new pair, this was acceptable, and i appreciated the phone call letting me know it would take some extra time. No problem with this. My issue comes from my last return visit, to pick up the re-made glasses. I sat down and before I was handed my new pair, the associated asked for my old pair back Almost like she thought I was going to grab the new-new pair and run? Anyway, i put on the new pair and she literally the only thing she says is "okay, you're good to go" and she stands up and goes back to the counter. I had to grab her attention because they felt a bit off on my face. She grabbed another associate who talked with me for a bit, but reassured me that they fit fine. I took his word for it, and when i get home i noticed that my glasses will not fold all the way. I wish i could upload a picture, because these frames are seriously bent. All in all, the doctors here seem great and knowledgeable. They need to work on their customer satisfaction. I did not ask for anything extra, even though they admitted the mistake was on their part, but i did not even get an apology. This is the first time i've felt strongly enough to write a negative online review. If someone with less patience went through this ordeal, i'm sure they would be getting more than just a bad review online. I'm pretty sure they fired the sales associate who made the mistake, which is a shame, since he was the only one with enough integrity to admit the mistake and apologize for it. read more

I have excellent insurance but you would never know it at this place! First of all last year I bought in 2 prescriptions, one for each of my kids to get contacts. I was able to buy a years supply of contact for 19.99 per kid for the year. So this yr I took the kids there for an exam and contacts. The dr came out and told me that he wanted my daughter to have the extended wear contact opposed to the regular ones she had been wearing, they took her in the back gave her a free trail pair of the extended wear contacts . However when it came time to pay I was being charged. $141 for my son and $241 for my daughter this included the 2 $10 co-payments. So I was to pay a total of $382 and that's with having insurance!!! At this point I was in shock!! We then decided that the extended wear contacts were too pricey and went with the regular one. The lady had the nerve to take my daughter in the back , she had her take out the free trial extended wear contacts and had her throw them in the garbage!! What a waste!! And how rude to do this to a kid!!! Needless to say I will never go back there AGAIN!! Not to mention the price for the contacts last year went from 19.99 a yr to $27 a box!!! read more

This place is amazing. The optometrist on staff is very nice. I am not the easiest person to please but they let me come in scroll through there catalog of designer frames, pick one, and expect them to order it for me ... and they did. They ordered it, called me when it came in, I came in to try them on and give them the green light to fit the lenses. My little brother went through the same process but ended up not keeping the frames he picked out, which wasn't a problem. He ordered his new frames online and brought them in and had the lenses fitted to them. All of this done with a smile. If i ever feel like my frames are loose or crooked I bring them in and they fix them for me. I've been going for a few years now and will continue to do so. read more

I'm sorry, I don't like being a problematic customer especially with such a short-term experience as getting glasses because you can always go somewhere else next time, but I just have to write this review. I went here a few months ago when my old prescription got too blurry and was in and out with the doctor pretty quickly, he did a great job and was very nice. But I had an exact idea of what kind of frames I wanted and when I found a pair close to that I tried them on, except the girl that was helping me basically flat out told me that my face was too fat for them and I needed to pick something else out. So I tried on frames a little more cat-eye shape (which is recommended for my face) and pretty far from what I wanted but would be tolerable, yet she still told me they looked bad and got an attitude. On the verge of crying I told her in a soft inferior voice that I wanted them anyways, and she still griped the whole time about it. The glasses came in quickly, and a different girl who helped me try them on to see if the prescription worked told me they looked really cute, which made it even worse that the other girl was so convinced I looked terrible. It has been a few months and although I am not too embarrassed to leave the house or anything like that I realized I am still not comfortable with the frames I got, and will probably never be able to feel confident in them since I was basically bullied into getting them. The worst part is that I was picking out of the designer section so if I was that employee I wouldn't care if you wanted frames shaped like the Chicago skyline as long as you were giving that much money to the business. And unfortunately with my prescription being so complicated and most of the good frames being designer I can't afford to drop hundreds of dollars on a pair I like until my prescription needs to be updated again. I feel like if a staff member is going to judge people who are heavier with faces that won't look what they consider ideal in most designs, especially to the point they refuse a customer certain frames, they should probably just find a different job; probably in the fashion industry since they think they are such an expert. 2 stars for the doctor, 0 stars for the salesgirl and the stupid glasses I'm stuck with. read more

The doctor was great. I got my contacts. I wanted my eyeglasses prescription with the PD I was told it would be 10.00. I asked for the office manager. He tried to say the doctor required the 10.00, really and that since i was getting my glasses on line i could come back to accuvusion to make sure the glasses were right. All they had to do was write it down from my chart. Also when the young lady looking at my file, the office manager asked her a question while she was reading, so she didnt answer and he said "Hello" how professional is that. Revised review. I brought my 5 year old autistic son in here on 7/11 and was kind of dreading the experience since he HATED the dentist and doesn't really like going to a new Dr. The front desk staff was welcoming and nice everyone welcomed us with a smile on their face which is rare in some places LOL. I was pleasantly surprised with how well he did The lady who conducted his first initial exam was very friendly and understanding of his disorder she didn't rush anything and was very patient. The Dr. who did the exam was extremely nice, he conducted my eye exam the prior month so I was pretty happy we got him again for my son. He didn't rush anything when doing the exam he was very patient with my son and told him what he was doing before he did it which is big not very many Drs. do that but I'm happy he did. Ordering his glasses was fairly challenging but that was because he wanted to try on every single pair of kids glasses, the guy who helped me (forgot his name) was very helpful and patient with us when we were picking out his glasses. The only downfall was my INSURANCE needs the company to send them out to them to get the lenses made or else we would've had his glasses that same day! The owner of Accuvision was very helpful with helping me understand a few questions that I had in regards to a test the eye Dr. recommended so thank you for taking the time out of your day to personally call me and answer my questions and concerns I appreciate it very much because not many owners would do that. I've worn glasses for over 25 years and am very particular about lens quality and how my frames fit, feel and look. When I get a pair of glasses, I typically keep them for 2 years. I have dry eyes that are pretty sensitive to contact lenses, but I still need them on the rare occasion when I exercise. I've been to countless places for exams and glasses in my adult life, thinking these places are all the same. I go to this Accuvision because I think they are top notch on all fronts, based on my last 10 years of going there. read more

Fastest glasses ever made. I walked in on a friday and got my new glasses by wednesday. usually it took 2 to 3 weeks at other places. The staff were all very hospitable. Courtney was the one who helped me pick out frames and lenses and she was very helpfully. first she checked to see if my old frames were still available but like most good things they stopped making them so she found a similar style that i liked. After I had picked my frames she went over the lenses, polarized, anti-glare, etc. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.I was very pleased with the experience so a week later I brought a pair of sunglasses in to have Rx lenses put in them. good thing too because i got 50% off since it was within 30 days of my first purchase. again Courtney was the one who set me up and about a week later I got my Rx sunglasses and couldn't be more thrilled. read more

Very clean place, super nice front desk lady (shoulder length gray hair, I forget her name). Dr. Kwon worked with both of my kids before. He was very patient in working with my son who processes questions a bit slower than some. The frame selection that works with my insurance is ok; I wish there were more that would be "no charge", but that could simply be my insurance. I like that I can pay half at the time of the order and the other half at pick up. I have recommended them and will continue to do so. read more

I called explaining that I couldn't find my glasses and needed a replacement asap as I had to drive 45 minutes to work the next day. Dr. Kwon said he would stay after hours to work me in that day. They then asked if I could come in earlier to make sure they had time to make the glasses that day. I came in around three, Christy helped me pick out frames, Dr. Kwon took his time with the exam and explained the different options I had for the future, Al immediately worked on my lenses and I was out of there with my new prescription in hand and a new pair of glasses in less than an hour and a half! Disappointed! I made an appointment on website for an eye check up. When I showed up Front desk said they called me to confirm the appointment and because I did not call back they did not book my appointment. When I showed up the girl in the front desk was not nice and said No you are no on our appointment book then looked in another book and said Oh you never called back. You need to make another appointment. Why would I book an appointment then get a confirmation via email and then not go! No I have to find another location that is nicer in person and that will not cancel my appointment when I make it. read more

This is such a great place. I had my first appointment there today and everyone was extremely nice and very helpfully. The exam was simple and quick and they work it out to give me all the discounts that they are able at the time of my appointment. At my last optometrist's after I submitted what I could to insurance it was the same price for just my year supply of contacts at my old place as it was for my exam, screening and my year supply of contacts and I haven't even submitted what I paid to my insurance. I would recommend this place to anyone new in the area or someone who is looking for a great atmosphere and great prices. read more

Terrible Experience! Horrible Customer Service! My initial appointment was on 8/7. At which time glasses were ordered for me. On 8/17, I received the call that they were in. I immediately knew they were not the right size. It took numerous attempt of them adjusting and another person to come over before they admitted to making a mistake and ordering glasses that were too small. They then agreed to order me a new pair. A few days later my son had to return to pick up new arm pieces for his glasses because they were too big. While there, I asked if they had a status on my glasses. I was told that I would be called when they come in and that could take 7-10 business days. On 8/24, I received the call that my new glasses were in and to bring the old ones with me. When I got there I was told that they were going to swap the lenses and I would be good-to-go. After a few minutes he returned and said that they ordered new frames but not new lenses and the ones in my old pair and too small. After going outside to take a breather, I came back in and asked for the office manager. The office manager said that they will order me new lenses but it would take 7-10 business days. I asked him if they could put a rush on it and he said it was out of his control because they are made off site. Once again, I left disappointed. Now today, 8/28, I called to check the status of them and the tech said that they were sent off to Columbus, OH on 8/26 (two days after I was in there) and that it would take 7-10 business days to get them back. This is ridiculous and judging by the reviews not the first time. By the time I get my glasses I will need a different prescription. Mark my words, I will never do business with AccuVision again! read more

This place is horrible, we have had nothing but issues with the customer service, delays in getting products and being quoted incorrect prices. the female manager is the worst and dont have an issue with a product because they will say that the vendor will not credit them so they will not credit you (even though you purchase from them and they should handle the relationship with the vendor on the back end) if you give them a deposit and the product is on back order for a long period of time (mine was 2 months out) they want to keep the deposit and make you buy something else from them stopping you from purchasing from another company that can deliver. If you need vision care, you might want to keep looking. My first experience with Accuvision at the Round Lake Beach location occurred in 2012. I went to Accuvision because my vision insurance provider changed with my new employment. The place I had been going to for 13 straight years did not accept VSP insurance. As such, I decided to give Accuvision a try. Both my son and I went there in 2012 to have our eyes checked. I was disappointed by two things... first, they did not have the ability to do the full retina scan which I always elected to do in the past because it eliminates the need to dilate the eyes. Secondly, I was appalled that they wanted to charge an additional $10 fee to customers looking to get contacts. I was told that the fee is what they charge for the handling and stocking of their samples lenses. This is ridiculous because the samples they receive are free to them from the manufacturers. Besides that, I don't know of anyone else out there who charges their customers for the free lenses (this would be illegal but they would just say that they are not charging you for the lenses, rather, "they are charging you for the handling and storage of the free lenses). Now in 2013, I decided to go there again but only because of their acceptance of VSP insurance and the close proximity of their location relative to my home address in Lake Villa. My son went to Accuvsion for an appointment made in early July. We ended up purchasing new glasses and new contact lenses for his updated prescription. My son went back for his follow-up appointment so that they could see how he was doing with the new contact lenses. Then I tried to order some contacts for him by 1-800-Contacts. When 800-Contacts called Accuvision to verify his prescription, they were told that they can not verify because the patient had not been seen for his follow-up visit. When I called Nestor and spoke to him about the mistake, he just insisted that their records do not show that he came back in for a follow-up visit. Bottom line is that my 15 year old son was definitely there twice and they had seen him on both occasions with his new contacts. He also picked-up his new glasses on the second visit as they were ready to be picked up. This place would rather call you a liar than fess up to their own mistake of failing to correctly update the patient's file. As such, I will be bringing my son back there for a third and final visit and I will require a written prescription that I will be taking with me. I was scheduled to have my eyes checked on Aug. 7th but I have let Nestor know that instead, my son will be there at the time I was scheduled. And I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. This place is just not worth the headache and frustration! Not impressed! read more
